What a mess. Worked with Steve at Truax for a new front door. Really wish we would have known they prefer commercial buyers and not residential. Really terrible communication. Poor explanations to questions. We ordered our door in early January 2021...it arrived in April of 2021. After install, we noticed it was the incorrect door (glass was not what we ordered). Contacted Truax and was told it would be 4-months for a replacement. No word from Truax in the meantime. We waited 5-months and in September we had to reach out to Steve (again!) and asked what was happening with the replacement door. We were told that the manufacturer no longer makes the door we wanted.In the meantime, since April and the incorrect install, they had the audacity to send not one, not, two, but five (5!) invoices for the remainder of our balance, even after we contacted their bookkeeper about the problem.In September we finally sent an email to the store manager, the sales manager, Steve, and let them know we would not be paying the balance on our account until the correct door was rectified. We were offered a $600 credit to our account if we paid for the incorrect door.One week AFTER the email was sent with our new credit offer, low and behold, our correct door had arrived. Not willing to work with Steve or Truax again, we told them we would keep the incorrect door and take the $600 credit.Could not wait to be done with this relationship. Weve happily told more than 6 friends and neighbors who were looking for new doors to just go to Home Depot - and will continue to tell everyone who asks about our experience. If it were possible to give less than one-star we would. Total shitshow with incompetent sales staff.Dont just take my word for it, read other Google reviews and see if you too can detect a pattern with Truax.

I had 2 storm windows that needed new connection pins. Truax found the correct pins and rebuilt the windows at a good price.

We unfortunately dealt with Jake who has abysmal customer service skills. Our order was incorrect due to his error, and he had the nerve to blame us for the error. I kept copious notes however, and we were refunded our deposit after taking the issue to the manager. It really feels like this company and the people there do not care about doing a good job for their customers. We always felt like we were inconveniencing them whenever we went there trying to do business. I will no longer do business with Truax, and I certainly do not recommend this place.

They have a lot of selection windows and doors and they get the product sooner than most places great place to shop

Surprised to see some of the reviews here as I have had nothing but good experiences over the last 10 years. Steve, and recently Dan, have both helped me find the right doors and windows for projects around my home and office. I just ordered a door today from Dan that was custom, glass, color hinges, etc, and it was less than the some of the in-stock door costs at a big box store. I ordered about six thousand dollars worth of Milgard windows(18+ windows) last year with Steve and everything was as ordered and undamaged. Ill continue to use them.

Ordered doors over the phone and talked specifically with the sales rep about the colors we wanted. When provided the quote, I did not realize the paint was not included and we received two unfinished doors. When I call them on it the salesman didnt have guts to admit his mistake on forgetting to include the paint in the quote and offered no apology or replacement. This is a dishonest company and they have pathetic customer service.

Had to change my rating on this company. At first during the order they were very professional and they have a great selection.Now, I need the windows and doors and I find out they are open only during the week and so I asked for a delivery to my house, which is only 4 miles away. They said they couldnt do it. I pretty sure they guy that answered the phone didnt even check to see if it could happen.I will never recommend these people again.

I did a phone order based on I live 85 miles away and there is no place in our small town that stocks window seals. I was helping an elderly friend install a new IGU unit on a window. Looked up on line and would have taken 10 days to get, so this business came up for window supplies and take only a couple days to get shipped here. I paid over the phone and after 7 days no delivery. I called early on the 8th day and a guy said he would call me back and give me a tracking number. Never called me back. I called again at the end of the day and found out that they just sent it out. The window IGU came today and I went all over town and found a seal that would work. I finished the job, without the seal from Truax. Needless to say I felt this place did not care to get the product out and follow through to get back to a customer.

Truax may need to have certain staff work with private customers and others work with contractor accounts. Not all staff area customer oriented and professional as they could be. Happy for a manager to contact me directly.

SUPER disappointed in this place. We were referred by the manufacturer of our windows-- Ordered a screen for a window (awning window, white frame), was told it would be ready in a week. Received a call that it was ready to be picked up, drove 10 miles through traffic to pick it up, paid for it... and they cant find it. They decided to remake it while we waited, and MADE THE WRONG KIND OF SCREEN, wrong color, wrong frame. When we pointed that out, that it wouldnt fit in the window and wouldnt work at all, counter person said, Oh, we dont make that kind of screen. When my husband pointed out that he could have made the wrong screen himself and wouldnt have paid a premium for it, she shrugged and walked away.No offer of refund, no offer to make things right. We literally left with a screen that was NOT what we ordered, and paid $40 for the privilege.This place doesnt care what customers think, as long as they get our money. I will be contacting the window manufacturer about this, so that they dont continue to refer customers to a place that cant make the right screens to fit their windows.The only reason we ordered from Truax is that we have a unique style of window that requires a unique screen. If they were not able to make that particular style, they should have stated it when we ordered.

Normally not an online reviewer, but I wanted to balance some of the reviews I noticed here. Im an architect and have ordered doors and windows from here and been very happy with the products and services. The sales person (Steve Wilson in my case) was very knowledgeable and had great practical suggestions. Pricing and lead time was identical to other places. Recommended.

I have been doing business for over 30 years with Truax. I have recommended them for many years. I have spent upwards of $120,000 with them on window and door packages... Recently the customer service has tanked and they are far more into their own interest rather than the customer. I received a broken window and they took no responsibility. I scheduled a delivery for a second replacement window and they then filled it with someone else after we confirmed delivery day. Then they proceeded to tell me they only had one slot available which we discussed previously wouldnt work for either one of us... Broken glass, loss of $480, delayed delivery and rescheduled twice... well, I guess this was not true when she left me this voicemail. (voicemail to text) Hi, Keith. Its Tammy at Truax, Thursday is okay for delivery, but I need an address would you leave me one Thanks bye.I would recommend finding another source for your window and door needs.If they had been willing to make an effort then my review would have been much different.

Got my order completely wrong. Wont size, wrong color, wont style of screen.I had already paid, was never offered a refund or the option to have the screen made to specifications.I received a phone call saying the screen was ready, when I arrived they couldnt find it, they said they would remake the screen, asking if I could come back in a week to pick it up.

Went in looking for a 42 wide door. Shane helped to find one in our budget

Horrible customer service. They were recommended by a friend for my new front entry door and storm door. I explained I knew nothing of this process so please help me understand all the basics. The saleswoman was useless. She offered nothing other than yes/no answers to my questions with no additional info to help a non-construction person make informed choices.I ordered a model from the Codel catalog that was brown and assumed I was that getting that one. After waiting almost two months, a white door was installed. When I told her it was supposed to be brown she said they come unfinished and I should have read the fine print. What? When I am told to read the fine print it means you’re pulling a fast one. Not once did she mention the word “finishing”. I told her even if I had read the fine print, I would not have understood what “finished” meant. Then she couldn’t even tell me about how much the finishing would cost or, if I reordered the door, how much extra that would have been.A good salesperson is supposed to work to understand what the customer wants and do their best to make sure they get it. No help and no accountability and the manager was no help whatsoever either. He said he “felt bad” while he defended the incompetentcy of his staff. The door was expensive and turns out the finishing company Truax recommended wanted $500 just to paint one door. That ridiculous. For the money I spent, I was expecting a completed door and now I’m feeling ripped off again.The only reason they get any stars at all is the installer did an excellent job and they have the good sense to contract with a quality door company. If you know all the ins and outs of construction, you will probably be just fine. But definitely go somewhere else if you need some hand holding in this process. I wish I had.

Pathetically horrible customer service. I went in there today to buy the first two of a dozen new solid wood doors Ill be needing for our house renovation and the customer service representative there immediately began treating me like I was putting him out. Im not sure how these folks define customer service, but it sure does not meet most basic expectations of being treated respectfully.Too bad- they missed out on over $5000 of my patronage, and all because of a lack of basic customer service skills.I recommend Parr lumber instead.

Found a door I needed fast that I couldnt find anywhere else. Communication and speed is lacking though however.

The windows are just junk. They have air gaps, poor latching, just garbage. Then when you inform them about this they do nothing. So I now have extremely poor windows that I will have to pay to have removed. I intend to take the two poorly built windows back down to there place of business and heave them through the front door. If you want competent windows go some place else.

Could not deliver on promisesI had to order a new door on a time crunch so I talked to a representative who promised the door would be able to be done in time. I ordered the door and paid in full. When the due date came up I had not heard from them so I called to see what happened. The original representative who had helped me was not there and the person working told me the door would not be ready for at least another week. They said the original representative would be back another day. When I did get a hold of them they told me I was out of luck and all they could do was refund me if I had a problem with the now later date. At this point it would be even later if I was to leave and start the whole process with another company so I was forced to stick with it. In the end I ended up paying a lot more out of pocket for being behind schedule then if I had just gone with a more reliable company in the first place.

Ive been using Truax exclusively for 17 years and never a problem.To the guy who claimed that theyre not skilled, savvy or honest, The fact that you refer to a rough-opening as a hole makes me suspect that since you dont know the proper terminology that perhaps the mistake might not have been theirs after all.BTW, net frame size refers to the actual measurements of the window or door unit, always with the width first, followed by the height.I would recommend them to anyone.

I had 2 windows that needed replacing and Jeff took care of me big time. From ordering, to delivery it was complicated, and they saw me all the way through to the end. They were booked up months in advance for install and even helped me find an installer. I look forward to working with them again in the future.

I was pretty excited to find a door store here in Portland. Having previously lived in Seattle, where there is a terrific door store, I was prepared to give this place a lot of business (we do a fair amount of remodeling). The very first job I gave them - a simple, pre-hung door to be placed into a hole of given measurements - they ordered it too big. When the contractor I hired showed up to pick the thing up, Truax had ordered *the actual door* to the measurements given. With the addition of the molding around the door, it door was now an inch too large to fit in the opening. A simple mistake, but I had been *very* clear about where this door was going, and that, pre-hung, it needed to fit inside the measurements provided. So it was their mistake. The conversation with the sales rep there was depressing. He must have said, well... its my recollection... four times. It quickly became a your-word-against-mine discussion. Bad form for a local business. So now they have my money, and I have a worthless door. One thing theyll never get again is my business. The funny thing is, it wasnt an expensive door - just a couple of hundred bucks. It would have been no big deal for them to fix this problem. I told the guy we were about to buy a bunch of doors and windows. The business savvy thing to do would have been to own up to his mistake. He would have created a loyal customer. Instead, he alienated a local who buys a lot of doors and windows. Heck, our next door was going to be a $2k front door. So the long and the short of it is that theyre not skilled, savvy, or honest. Try some place else.

They have never delivered on time. Significantly late. I let them know other contractors were waiting on them - they didnt care. Bad customer service; they never called to let me know they would be 1-2 weeks late. I always had to contact them. My advice? Use someone else - anyone else.

On October 6th, I spoke with Dan at Truax regarding an issue I am having with my storm door. He assured me that my door was the only one in thousands installed that was having the problem, therefore, I dont have a problem. He told me if I think I have a problem I should drill a hole in the door and add another bracket to support the glass insert.Given Dan s response, I will take my business to another door company in the future. Enough of TRUAX!!!!
