Very cool, big store, huge variety of everything related. You should really visit this place even if you don’t think you need it.Prices - Amazon level prices most of the items, some a bit higher. But you can easily do your shopping here without thinking too much.

So many fun books and fun items to bring uniqueness and originality to your home or give as thoughtful gifts to your loved ones. The staff was very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable about their books and where to find specific subjects and authors. I also love that they have so many local authors books available. Very cool place!

Such sweet, kind people working there. Lots of goodies and things to explore. Highly recommend! I just interacted with a manger on duty that was SO KIND and helpful.

My favorite store EVER. I saw on Google they were open at 11am. So I paid for parking, waited an hour and half across the street at Starbucks until they were due to be open. There was an OPEN sign illuminated in the window. However, there’s a tiny sign on the door that says they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Three other people walked up thinking they were open and were very disappointed as well. Sad that they are losing business. I am a business owner and my schedule is normally too busy to come. I planned this day special to come here only to be disappointed, spending time and money I could have used for other things. Just hoping this information helps you to save your time and money for parking or transportation.

I adore this place. Everything feels genuine, where as I find some metaphysical stores to seem like a cash grab. The employees are polite and helpful. They carry anything and everything you could possibly need. 100% recommend.

Love this place. Came down just to stop at this store recently. Asked if I could leave my bags behind the counter, and the young woman said sure. When my friend asked if she could do the same, she said no to her. We came there to get Zen, and the energy was not inviting, and friendly at all. Other than that, I’ve always had great luck at this store.

New Renaissance is cozy and peaceful, and has tons of interesting books and other items. It’s a great place to spend an hour or two on a rainy afternoon.

Expansive collection of books, stones, sound bowls, herbs, etc. Friendly staff. Daily activities like energy clearing, tarot reading, and more offered at a discounted price. The only downfall I could find was that their section on African spiritualism was weak ; a disappointing total of only 4 books out of the vast amount of literature they have available. Im sure lack of demand plays a role in this but only 4 books???

Amazing bookstore!! You can find everything you ever wish for here at reasonable prices and great selections. I can’t believe my eyes when I see their tarot collections. The most massive one I have ever seen! If you are ever in Portland, this place is definitely worth a trip!

As a person who has been vending spiritual tools for years Id have to say the collection of goodies here was good but WAY overpriced. I saw several of the exact same items I sold for a fraction of the price they are asking.I arrived close to closing and was polite about wanting to enter and shop with 20 minutes to close. I was pretty much rushed out of the store by employees who stood around talking negatively about someone I assumed they work with....or know. The hand sanitizer was so full of fake fragrance that I got a wicked headache and was sick the rest of the night. The smell remained on my hands even after many washes. I was disappointed in

This store is sooooo awesome! All the unique awesome tarot deck cards you can think of, the super cool wind chimes, the beautiful journals (ones with no lines), and the awesome staff! Loooooove this place !

Every inch of this store is amazing! The staff are always so helpful as happy. They have incredible workshops, events, talks, etc. The prices are very reasonable and the selection of everything from clothing to crystals to tarot cards to art and books is overwhelming at times. You could easily spend 2 hours here and not even notice.

Beautiful shop very nice customer service. So many products to choose from. I really love their calendars that actually show information depending if its a witch calendar or zodiac. Their children section is so awesome I was very impressed because you dont ever see that. Thank you for the great experience:)

Great store that has been in Portland for a very long time. Diverse products (books, DVDs, jewelry, stones/crystals, oils, clothes) and events and classes also offered. Very helpful staff that is knowledgeable in their products. Easy to spend hours browsing. Parking is always a challenge because of the trendy area located. Evenings and weekends will be most challenging. Lots of good shopping and restaurants nearby.

Any time have needed to buy a gift for someone,or if I am buying for myself,I always find the perfect gift!The minute you walk in you feel calm and relaxed!!

A fun little book store that, along with a large variety of books, also sells many fun niche toys and decor. The store layout is a bit abnormal, but has a good flow to it so it is fairly easy to follow. They did a great job at accessibility considering the location and age of the buildings (they have ramps and were very good about marking them and verbally communicating the locations to people). I would warn that the shelves and stands are a bit close together due to the confines of the location, so navigating with a chair may be difficult.

New Age bookstore with all of the required accoutrements. There are some pretty things here. I came for incense, and found a nice selection of quality products.Im drawn to crystals, and they have some nice pieces.They also sell chocolate! Good chocolate!This is a tough store to navigate for those who dont walk easily, or have other mobility issues. Also, not very easy to find things, but staff is kind and patient.Parking is tough in NW Industrial area.All in all, a good vibe, and good place to browse. Wish I could do 3.5 stars, as thats more accurate.

I love this place! Huge selection, tons of books, and I really like all the singing bowl and gong bath healing sessions they provide the community regularly.

This might be my favorite store, ever. Ive been coming here since I first moved to Portland a decade ago. Simply being here is calming... The place is my sanctuary. I come here when I need to find my center, and I always find the right book. Lots of other beautiful items to entice as well. :) Its really hard to not spend money here every time I walk in!

Very cool store. Lots of interesting things. We showed up about 30 minutes before close and of course were being respectful of the time and werent planning on staying after. As I was looking around, I noticed a lot of things I would have liked to get but it was very expensive. As I was considering coughing up $50 for a decorative dragon statue and possibly another $40-50 on a ring, someone came to tell us that they were closing in five minutes. I was trying to get an idea of what Id want to buy so I could come back and get it tomorrow when they werent about to close.Having just checked the time, I knew it was still 10 minutes but went to check out anyways. We were rushed out in a rude way and were even followed all around the store, being watched like a hawk! When I tried on the rings two people were staring me down making sure I wasnt stealing them.At the end of the day we were back in our car driving away 5 minutes before they closed. We were rushed out and the staff wasnt friendly. We were also followed everywhere and being eyed like they thought we were thieves. I was planning on coming back and spending upwards of $100 but that is no longer going to happen. It is too pricey to be worth it with the hassle we went through anyways.

Super duper legit new age store. This place is massive and really is relaxing. Fun place for a jaunt with a friend or alone. They have a large kids section!!! Very helpful and respectful staff

I adore this place. The minute you step in the door you are surrounded with the most wonderful books, spiritual card decks, adult coloring books, jewelry made from healing crystals and stones, beautifully crafted purses, and all things metaphysical. I love their selection of crystals. The people here are very friendly and helpful. In other parts of the store there are posters, incense, clothing, essential oils, musical instruments, toys for kids, candles, wind chimes, dream catchers, lotions, tarot cards, and so much more. I have a long wishlist of things I plan to buy here (pretty much everything in the store :)) You can sign up to borrow movies for free for a week. There are always wonderful spiritual teachers and healers here giving workshops and classes. This is my favorite place to take visitors when they come to my neighborhood. One more thing: there is a cute little playroom for children to hang out in while parents are shopping. The energy of this place is peaceful and magical.

I love this place. It is a wonderful place to explore all things spiritual, religious & mysterious. The atmosphere upon entering is calming and relaxed. Just the air itself feels wonderful. They have a lot of books, tools and art pieces. A veritable candy store for the awoken.

Lots of fun. I was able to find every single book I was looking for. Gardening, self help, occult, cooking, healthy living and etc. I really enjoyed walking the isles seeing what treasures there were too be found. I very much enjoyed my experience.

Having recently moved back to Portland from San Francisco, I knew there would be significantly less pagan stores with stones and gems. I found two or three places on Google Maps and this one had the best reviews so I went to check it out. The photos dont do the store justice! Upon entering it is a bit overwhelming, how do they fit so much awesomeness and pure magical space, physically and pscyhicly, into a space that looks rather small outside? I would call this store the Powells of pagan stores. Every have everything and a huge selection at great prices. Plus the staff were so so kind and welcoming. I cant wait to return, I will surely be.spending all my paychecks here. Eek! But cant put a price on love and light, and theres no shortage here.

If Im in the area I love to visit this shop, and stay usually over an hour. They have an excellent book and gift selection, with local creations too. The community boards are great to find out what is going on in local arts, metaphysics, and you can drop-in for tarot/oracle readings from their guest readers & astrologers 💛

Amazing shop with a huge selection of cards and books and other metaphysical items. Customer service was great from two out of the three staff members. It was a bit disappointing that one of them seemed to have a bad attitude when it was such an uplifting environment.

One of my favorite places to window shop when Im having a bad day. I instantly feel lighter as I walk in the door. They have a comprehensive collection of woo-woo self-help books (my favorite genre), complimentary tea (and movies), a delightful staff, and fabulous events with local and visiting authors and healers.

They have a variety of products and a great book selection. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Overall atmosphere is calming. I love that my daughter gets to pick out a rock at each visit!

Great spot to find what you need to support your spirituality or general well mindedness. Books, jewelry, crystals, did I say books yet? LOTs of great books! Yoga mats and even a Buddha room. Fun just to wander the isles and get lost on a rainy Saturday. Several coffee shops close by to retire with your new finds!

If I could give this store more stars, I would! I would rate it at a ten. The atmosphere is the best. The staff is wonderful, helpful but not pushy. So great to see a book store that has giving to the community part of it purpose.

This might be one of my favorite places in portland. the shop carries items from many religious/spiritual denominations. items price from less than a dollar to hundreds of dollars. the meditation area is also a great place to rest and recharge...though i will say...compared to many years ago the quiet area upstairs is beginning to get a little cluttered w items for purchase and not as quiet as it used to be. a special place for me.

Great store..tons of interesting stuff for your spirit. Books, candles, gem stones, tea, insence, trinkets, jewelry..the list goes onMy only complaints are parking in the area can be tough and the prices are a bit steep on just about everything. And a couple of the staff were a tad condescending when asked questions. However I did find a couple super helpful ones. That being said its still a wonderful place to spend time in. I spend at least 2 hours when I go.

I come to this shop whenever I go to Portland and I always leave with some beautiful treasures. It is so much more than a bookshop and has such a great energy. The staff have always been so wonderful too.

So, today I went to Renaissance with my mom to get some new tarot cards, and I was followed by at least two people (who usually were eyeing me and talking about me) in the entirety of me being there. My mom has been taking me there since I was a child, easily one of my most favorite stores. Now first I was super angry. But, after a phone call the owner explained that I had a large open bag, and they have been having a lot of trouble with shoplifters. They also offered a 30$ credit, which in showed that they were sincerely sorry. I understand trouble with shoplifters, its Portland and everyone doesnt care. But I would have much preferred they ask for my bag, or just be open. I couldnt shop when someone was literally watching over my shoulder. So, just leave a warning sign or offer a bag check so this ordeal could be avoided. I am happy this came to a resolution, and I will definitely be coming back in the future (with a small closed bag)

The best of its kind... service and available merchandise is never a disapointment.. the classes, spiritual teachers and guides for our needs are available through the bookstore with a variety to choose from. I recommend planning an afternoon at this gathering place...enlightening.

I have loved this store for over 20 years! It is wonderful for all it carries but also the healing atmosphere. I love to go there when I am having a hard time and soak in the healing energy.

I came in looking for a gift for my wife since we traveled way put of town with the plan of stopping here on our honeymoon. The building was very small for all they had in it and I felt like a sardine. The aura reader was polite but seemed a little uncomfortable or nervous when approaching us for some reason while making very general and inconsistent readings.I asked twice for help while looking for a pendant and never got help. In fact all I got was a dirty look while I waited and the people working constantly moved on to someone else who needed help with gems or books instead. I dont understand why I was left there waiting.The necklace I was looking at was the last thing I wanted to get out of the basket of goodies my wife and I picked out. I ended up getting for frustrated I left the basket and all and I just walked out. Apparently my wife(whos too kind for her own good) ended up putting everything away and came out very upset about the experience.I came in expecting so much more from what Ive heard and read about your store. I came in with the intention of spending what was probably a $200 basket and only left with negitive vibes. Very displeased and I wont bother visiting again next time Im in Portland.

Nothing else quite like it. Amazing selection of books, jewelry, oils, gifts and other positive and beautiful things. I highly recommend going when you have at least an hour to look at everything, with so many nooks and rooms you otherwise might miss treasures youll want!

Some prices are a little too high. The selection and variety are wonderful. The bargin tables are always right out on the porch so I always browse through them before going in.The staff are always welcoming and have great knowledge of the items in the storeI shop here 2 times a month!

I went for a book event last night and they definitely have the coolest space! There are multiple buildings along 23rd that were really beautifully decorated. I loved the book event (50 ways to say you are amazing by Alexandra Franzen) and I loved the bookstore and the event space. I will definitely be going back.

This store has a great selection of books. They have a great selection of DVDs and books to tend to your soul! Whatever you believe, they have the book to cover it. They also have a section for teas, candles, lotions and clothing. Its a cool place just to look around. The staff is really friendly and helpful.

You can find everything metaphysical and more! New Rens inventory is extensive and the employees are a pure delight. They also have a video lending library (boasting over 1600 titles) where you can borrow a DVD for 7 days each time you visit.

This is my go to shop for hard to find items. If theres a book you cant find they will order it for you. The people are friendly and approachable. Its very peaceful here. Walk around without looking for anything in particular and something will always catch your attention. Its rare if I leave empty handed . I cant recommend New Renaissance enough. This is my favorite place in Portland.

I was visiting a friend in Portland and the first place she took me was this wonderful book shop. Its a really great space filled with all things inspirational and spiritual located right in the heart of the most amazing area of Portland, 23rd Ave. Its very reminiscent of the Bodhi Tree Bookstore in LA - now closed :-( The staff are friendly, too. My favorite sign in the place was back in a less-traveled nook that said Shoplifting is Poverty Consciousness Well done. I will be back!
