I started coming in here a few months ago and fell in love. A lot of times I can only make it in right after work and the last couple of times the owner has let me pick out a wig real quick before she closes the wig section down. I’ve started recommending it to other performers because everything they sell is AMAZING and their customer service is wonderful! ❤️

My experience was ok.. there may have been cultural differences between myself and the owners/employees that I have yet to understand. They had a nice selection, though!

Would NOT recommend! I was followed around the earring section near the entrance by a lighter skin woman who worked there. I was highly offended when she asked me if I was going to buy the pair of earrings I was looking at. I found the employees have a low standard of customer service. Terrible experience. Ruined my day to be treated like that by a fellow black woman. 0/10.

Felt hated from the moment I walked in. If they could strip search people before leaving Im sure they would.... This poor older woman was wearing tighter clothing and didnt have a bag or anything but was being accused of shoplifting.... How and what Im not sure!!!!??? No thank you! Not going back there. Will spend my money elsewhere!

This is a great place especially being an African American and looking for products for your hair or skin. All though it took me over 4 hours to find it the first time. I still went back again.

Helpful staff and definitely a place you want to go if you are interested in buying hair. My one wish for this business would be to see a person of color behind the register. The man running the register every time Ive come in is not very friendly and tbh Id rather checkout with the staff on the floor.

After all these years they are still my number one hair care place. They have it all! Now they have a gal, something like a personal shopper! She knows all of the products and I came out with 2 huge bags of everything I wanted! I highly recommend this place even if you just have an idea of what you want, the employees can direct you to what you need. There are so many choices and brands, very cool place. Ny friend went there for some super coverage face makeup for pictures and wow their suggestion worked wonders and picture perfect make-up! Four paws up been going there for over 10 years, I would not go anywhere else! Same owner same great prices!

I had an unfortunate exchange with the business owner of this establishment. I sent my granddaughter in the store to purchase hair. When she came back to the car, we noticed she purchase the wrong hair. She went back in to get a refund. When she returned to the store (less than 5 minutes later), The lady at the counter pointed to the sign that read no exchanges or refunds. My granddaughter returned to the car. I then went in and asked for a refund. The male owner proceeded to give me a refund. Then the woman (Im almost certain shes this gentleman s wife) started talking to him in their native tongue. I told the lady the receipt read that returns were accepted through March. She lied and said that was only for sale items (arent sale items usually final). Another customer backed me up and said they should refund me my money. The owner told her she didnt have to shop there. She could leave. She did just that. She left her purchases on the counter and stormed out! She told them she would never come back. The owner refused to give me a refund and so I left the hair on the counter and told them I would never support their business (mind you, I had paid for that hair). I proceeded to contact my credit card company to have the charge removed. This business is in NE Portland. NE Portland had a large percentage of African American residents before 1990 (gentrification started). Thats why In Living Color is located in the heart of NE Portland. Blacks are the backbone to this businesss revenue. They have some nerve to thinking they can lie, not honor the receipt and talk down to us! They will never receive my business again!

I travel from far to go to this beauty supply store. The owner is so kind, she always greets us, treats us like family! I will always come here for products!

They are the best in Portland for braid hair and colors and some cute eyelashes. They have some cute wigs and other stuff. Watch where you park cause the area is sketchy.

There is a HUGE selection of products. And their customer service is great! Theres always someone available to help you. I bought 22 inch bundles and a draw string ponytail for a total of $37 and the quality is great for my temporary extensions.

Rude the owner is rude mean and I will never go back. She tried to charge me double for hair. Only one block down at MKS the same hair was 169 a pack she tried charging me 325 for it. And was rude when I told her I knew what it sold for and that she was hustling me...

I absolutely love Living Color I remember coming here when I was younger growing up with the people that work there. it can be a little quaint but they have great stuff and good customer service.Also people in that neighborhood need to stop walking around with some attitude on their shoulder and humble yourselves a little bit.. you probably wont be treated so badly by like everyone lol

I personally like coming here due to the fact that its never busy like mid k. I dont have to wait in lines to ask a question or try on a wig. I dont like being watched like a criminal. Ive been coming here since I was 2 years old. Ive never stolen or thought about it. Have a little trust for your customers. But I understand as the area around the store is a little sketchy. The parking sucks. Dont bring kids as theirs no bathroom in the store. Great selection of many great brands. Price is desent as well. Would totally recommend to a friend. And go back.

Blackploitation at its worse. High prices. Suspiciously staring staff and following staff. Its our own fault. Plenty of others have found ways to capitalize on the frivolous ways we spend. Until we start serving our own community more efficiently, it will keep happening

I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!! I love changing my hair..wigs, weave,etc.. I had one associate helping me chose a wig to buy and then she went on break. Another associate who was not the same color as me kept following me and when I asked her to show me different wigs she acted like I was inconveniencing her!! Excuse me? You work here?...is it not your job to help the customer? When I decided what I wanted and went to the counter to pay..she looked at me crazily when I paid with a real credit card...not a debit card!! Like I said before NEVER AGAIN WILL I PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS!! The only reason I brought something that day is because my usual beauty supply were out of stock on the wig I wanted and this store had it..

I went there about a week ago after a friend from work told me about it.. cause coming from Cali to Salem there was no beauty supplies that had what I wanted or needed near me.....so I made my way to this store and Loved it. The closest thing to a Cali beauty supply I can find.

Its a hair store. bundles, wigs, weaving supplies. some makeup and jewelery, other hair accessories, barber supplies and products galore. braiding hair in a variety of textures and prices. friendly staff who are knowledgeable. go once youll go back.

Went there for a weave and the associates were salty. They kept following my friends and I around like we were going to rob them. It’s not the first time it happens. If there was anything lower than a one star, I would have given it to them. Very unprofessional, do better please....

Eh, the selection is not as good as it used to be and the wig girl follows me around like Im going to steal something which is super uncomfortable and annoying. I think Ill stick to Amazon for wigs and other beauty supply stores like Mid-K for my Staples.

Horrible customer service. I just called in and she says Are you the one that keeps calling in asking for wigs. I believe her name is Evonne. Mind you it was my first time calling in. If you dont want people to ask questions regarding the items that you sell dont list your phone number. Also, they are all Asian and barely speak English. It is far cheaper and easier to use the black owned websites online who offer full selection of wigs and colors. DONT GO HERE.

I used to go to MLK until I found this store. Now I never go to MLK again. This store has everything you can think of and its affordable youre not paying expensive amount for a weave. I find high in a weave for $20. It last me for a while

The place coul be close to closing time and Im rushing through the door and they NEVER rush me back out the door! When you walk in it’s a hello you need help this is a great hair store.

I was looking for a specific style of wig and after an hour and a half of browsing their store (because I could literally spend my entire life insurance policy at this shop), them Asian woman (Im assuming owner) told me to wait, she thought she had wanted I wanted in the back. Without me even describing what I was looking for, she came back with a lace front level 6 light brunette to level 9 light beige blonde ombré wig with the perfect natural curl. Just from watching me browse she knew what I want and at the same time saw my soul. I now spend at least half my paycheck here every 2 weeks.

They have good customer service. The prises are competitive, but they have more variety of hair products to choose from.

They were nice and courteous. Except for the guy behind the counter. He was rude. He stood up there like he thought he was surviving his lands or something. Lol but overall it was ok.

They are so kind to me, they always knew what I was talking about and always quick to show me where it was. I think they deserve the five stars they have great customer service and it keeps me going back!!!

This place is fantastic! Easy parking in the back, incredible selection, dope prices (everything they carry that I normally I buy at Sallys - is 1 or 2 dollars cheaper here, geez!), and the service is awesome!! When I needed to reach something high up, somebody almost instantly offered to assist me. I asked a sales associate a quick question about cutting wefted hair to make extensions, and she was super friendly and offered me a quick tutorial on how to make and sew extensions! Holy moly, this place is really awesome.

Very bad service. Went here from out of town to purchase barber blades. Guy refused to tell me what blades they had in stock and proceeded to ignore me when I continued to inquire and never told me what was in stock! Who ignores a client inquiring about your services or products? Straight up clown establishment, with racial energy!

Might be a good place to shop if youre Caucasian; if youre African American, dont bother shopping here.

WORST EVER!!!! came here to buy 10+ wigs for a play we are doing I asked for help and the lady, stared at me and gave me the worst attitude when I asked her to come around so i can show her what i needed, she said I can see here, I dont need to go over their and dont do this or that, and i dont understand you, you make no sense, and i ndont need to tell you you, can see! but yet she would get mad when i would touch??.
