First off I will say this is my favorite audio company. These guys make the best IEMs out there, and if you live near by, it is definitely worth scheduling an appointment to demo their products. I just picked up a pair of their Solaris, and Comet IEMs. Both of these are the best IEMs I have ever owned, and they are very visually pleasing as well. Mostly everything is hand made/assembled in portland, or locally sourced. Their products out preform products up to three times their price range. The staff there are extremely helpful, kind, and you can just tell they really love audio and want to share it with others. I cant think of one bad thing about Campfire Audio besides the fact that I dont own all their products!
Headphones sound great but reliability is poor and support is awful. I got a pair of Lyra IIs only about 8 months ago. Paid a ton of money for them too. Not even a year of use wearing them maybe 2 days a week on my commute and the right earbud just fell out of the metal housing. It looks like they just glue them in place but the glue failed - its falling right off the earbud and the glue is flaking away.Luckily Im covered by warranty right? Sure, in theory. The location is only open 9-4 M-F and they dont accept mail outside those hours. They didnt mention that when I asked for service so I RMAd them back bvia UPS for insurance and tracking. UPS has so far attempted two deliveries outside those tight hours and if they dont get it there in the next hour today it looks like Im getting my package back and eating the shipping cost. Hopefully attempt #2 and a week delayed is all it takes.I called ALO to ask them to contact UPS and figure out how to schedule this so things actually make it to them. The response? we ship UPS every day, what do you want me to do? When you get it back try USPS priority mail next time. I asked if youd take a few minutes to call them and sort out delivery - Im not magic, I called and asked UPS to make it urgent, but they couldnt promised anything. Thanks for being condescending and not willing to help out at all ALO. If this was going to be a problem you could have just said ship USPS in the first support request instead of just giving me a form letter with an address and being unwilling to help later. Ive got $600 in the mail that Im just hoping comes back to me now. without getting lost.
The small staff were super nice and let us listen to their unbelievably gorgeous - sounding (and -looking) Andromeda earbuds.
