It’s so tiny compared to their mega markets elsewhere in the metro area but I find that there is a decent selection of goods that can be helpful for a variety of culinary creations.Parking is abysmal. The garage is compact and challenging to navigate and the street spaces nearby are few and far between. Be patient!
This store is my new go-to market for Asian products. It is incredibly clean and well organized with a huge selection of packaged goods. The produce section has a huge variety of products with less pre-packaged goods so it is easier to pick your quantities. The selection of prepared and hot foods is pretty varied and very affordable, I picked up a couple of steamed buns for a few dollars and they were some of the best Ive had. Only downside for me is that it isnt closer to home.
Fantastic (East) Asian grocery store in the heart of the city! You can find all sorts of Korean, Japanese and Chinese food here, from snacks (like biscuits and baked rice cakes) to groceries (like noodles and special sauces) to take-away meal boxes (like sushis and rice bowls), even some Asian cooking tools (like bamboo steamer); besides the normal stuff youd expect from a grocery store. Location is great, price is reasonable.
Got brisket for hot pot. Son picked up some orange chicken for a snack. Got some asian pears and bulgogi for dinner tomorrow night. Lived the smell of the food in the store. Good selection
This is the closest location to me that sells all of the goods I need for Korean food or things for other Asian dishes even if they are so limited for a mart. However, the customer service sucks and Ive never had a pleasant time shopping. Every worker has an attitude (deli workers, cooks, cart guys, the cashiers). Each time I ask someone for help, they give me a look that says Im wasting their time and tell me they dont know where the item is. Im perfectly ok with having minimal contact and conversations, but I mind the rude tone I get if I take my time paying and bagging my groceries. They do minimal work on the floor and dont expect to do any less. Out of convenience by location, I just grab my necessary groceries and leave as fast as I can. I rarely give bad reviews, but its just bad here.
A lot of nifty items. Was hoping for more Japanese snacks, this store seems to carry a lot of Korean style food and treats. But still nice to find another unique place
Huge selection of fresh noodles. Tons of meat varieties for Korean BBQ. The fried chicken is DELICIOUS. This is our favorite Asian grocery store in the area. We make the trip from the Washington side of the bridge to go here and its worth having to drive through a couple of homeless encampments to get here.
Love H Mart stores and happy that a location, albeit smaller, was added to Portland. They have a wonderful selection of Korean, Chinese, a multi-ethnic Asian foods and ingredients we love. From fresh fruit and produce to fresh seafood and meat. They have a little bit of everything and then some. We buy our ingredients for hot pot here because the selection of meats and ingredients is better than the competition. You can also get some fresh food from the mini food court.
Recipe for making an H Mart:Take a Whole Foods, put it in a jar filled with cabbage, radishes, onions, ginger, vinegar and chili powder, bury it and allow it to ferment for several days or weeks. Pretty soon, an H Mart will sprout up from the ground in its place!Okay, Im being facetious, but I *wish* it worked this way. I would swap out every Whole Foods for an H Mart, if I had my druthers. Easily my second favorite Asian grocery chain (by a razor thin margin) and topped only by Uwajimaya (in my humble opinion), H Mart does *everything* right. Variety, quality, pricing: you name it! Exceptional produce. Exceptional seafood. Gorgeous cuts of meat and fish, fresh or frozen. Sane, sensible prices, considering the superiority of the goods on offer here, even the imported ones. Sure, its no WinCo or Walmart, but since they (and most other grocers) are so woefully outclassed by the Asian Holy Trinity of Supermarkets (Uwajis, H Mart and Fubonn), Im willing to pay *a* premium for *the* premium.Seriously, where else are you going to find multiple deli counters serving bento, bibimbap, sushi, fried chicken, bubble tea and shaved ice, all in one place?! And theyre all awesome?! Shut the front door! No, wait, open the front door, I want some beef bibimbap! My *only* complaint about H Mart is that (like Uwajimaya) its not closer to my house. It would be a dream come true to move into the apartments above it, but theres no way my wallet (or waistline) would survive. At least we would both die happy!
One of my favorite Asian stores. This location has a wide variety of options for different snacks, beverages, hot food, Asian cuisine staples, exotic fruit, and more. This store sell some of the best kimchi I have ever had. Also I really appreciate how it is always clean and organized!
This is the nicest H MART Ive ever been to!!! The staff is supremely friendly and helpful! My cashier even suggested I exchange one of my bitter melons for a fresher one. Great tip! Because I had never really picked them out before I didnt know what to look for. The prices are just STUNNING and affordable!! It has very luxurious decor for an H Mart too! I snapped some pics while I was there!! Enjoy your new neighborhood grocery!
Great food at the hot bar get there before 7:00pm to get fresh hot food. After 7:00 the main stations are closed but you can still get some hot snacks if you hurry.and yummy selection of snacks bagged Smaller selection of Indian food than I would like but the focus is mostly on other food. Pretty accessible from bus lines 15.
Review limited to HMart Belmont Popcorn Shrimp food hall stand. Generally, 5 Stars to the Grocery section of the store. The $4.99 popcorn shrimp is a generous take out box portion, however, the version that I got today was incredibly dried, refried at least twice, and overpowered by the lemon & pepper seasoning. The seafood tasted incredibly old; wasnt sure if it had been sitting all day. Had two other people taste it, and they agreed. Out of an abundance of caution, threw away the entire order.
This place has amazing produce, and has certain veg/fruit I cant find anywhere else. Can almost always find what I need. However, if youre there later in the day, certain items might be sold out. They also have an amazing sake and beer section!
Convenient, well maintained Korean market with a decent selection of grocery items, including ready to eat hot food. The fried chicken is quite good.
Great spot! Huge selection of goods. Wish I lived in the area, I would be a regular.
Great place to pick up some shoes and clothing. Vintage, everyday, even collector, almost one of a kind or rare.
Great store. Has most of the Asian ingredients I need. Parking is tight in the lot.
They have everything that you could ever imagine. I love the produce section and cold beverages.
Im lucky to live next to an Asian supermarket not only because the selection of groceries is great but also because the customer service is friendly, accommodating, and reliable. Apart from being friendly, the staff seems happy and thats a good sign of a well managed operation. There produce (featured in the images below) is always fresh, affordable and well stocked. The market also offer a great selection of prepared meals and the new bubble tea kitchen serves a variety of healthy refreshing drinks e.g., smoothies, slashes, and iced teas, and coffee.
Amazing Oriental market, various to choose from, go at least 3 times a month.
04/30/19: 4.5 out 5 - Came here with my mother-in-law because she wanted to see what it is all about. This would make it m second visit in a matter of days. And, I dont live in the area!To her surprise, she enjoyed the layout and was quite surprised on how great most of the prices were. It would be only obvious then that she would have to pick up some items. She also commented on how clean the store was for an Asian market. Keep in mind, we are Asians and we go to MANY kinds of Asian markets. It was definitely a worthwhile visit for her. Shell most likely will want to come back and so will I.If you get a chance or in just in the area, definitely check out H Mart. Theres even a little eatery inside called K-Town. Simple menu and very tasty.04/27/19: 4.5 out 5 - Finally got a chance to check out H-Mart since its Grand Opening after it has taken the spot that was formerly Zupan Market.Decided to come to H-Mart after my running group had gotten a bite somewhere nearby. Parked off the street, but found out later that there is a parking structure for H-Mart customers. Its not a huge space but it definitely suffices for the demographic area. It was a bit crowded at first since it seems like the employees were still putting inventory out However, the place was still clean and, for the most part, organized. The shelves were stocked with such an array of other ethnic foods along with H-Marts regular inventory of Korean goods. Very pleased to see that. The produce look great. Looked fresh and very clean. A variety of sorts, as well. The meat and seafood department looked great, and the employees of that department were quite helpful.Overall, H-Mart seemed to transition well into the neighborhood, and provides a great variety of items in a small space with decently low prices to go with.I do hope for its success for the area it is in.
Love this store. The salmon is delicious, the veggies always look great. If you love mushrooms, they always have so many kinds. Also love how many kinds of rice they have. A pleasure to shop here
Superb mart for all things fine Asian cuisine. Gorgeous butcher shop with all the cuts you need for authentic Korean meat dishes. Very fresh fish and wonderful array of sauces, condiments, and Asian wines and beers--awesome array of Korean soju for example! Go Now! This amazing place can easily become your weekly go-to market. (Lucky You!)
Nice store with lots of products that are new to me. Limited parking, but I found a spot- no problem!
So glad they have a location on this side of town. Love there selection of meats for grilling, kbbq, hot pot, and all the other goodies.
Great place and great selection. We have to drive a fair distance to get there but it was worth the drive.
So, so many tasty offerings and a lot of hard to find ingredients. I was overwhelmed as it was my first time. Its twice the size of my closest Asian market and the bulk of the offerings seemed to be Korean, though I did spot several pan-Asian cuisine offerings. They had warm grab-n-go food options. Too many to recall. I did walk away with a pork, noodle, and rice dish that was huge, delicious and filling, as well as, a Spam and an eel musubi. Both super delish. I cant wait to go back!
A wonderful assortment if Asian delights. Very clean and orderly. In the heart of down town
I wish we were closer to this place. Clean and fresh
Large selection of Korean food, fresh produce, and delicious food.
We love coming to this wonderful market! Staff are friendly, produce is fresh, selections are awesome and prices are right. Korean pancake selection is amazing.
Selection is smaller than their other store, but the location is right. Love their produce, seafood, and prepared foods. Plus all the thin sliced meat you could want for Korean bbq or hot pot.
Amazing place to get everything you need. Have an amazing verity of Asian foods and goods. Friendly staff and awsome people
It’s so nice to have an Asian grocery store so close in to Portland. Way more convenient than having to drive out to Beaverton or 82nd Ave.
Not as much variety as the Tigard store, but is good for quick trips when you dont want to head West out of town.
This was probably my favorite walk through during the Belmont Street Fair...
Fantastic grocery store. Very convenient and friendly. Good selection of Asian food.
Great cuts of meat and fish that are rather inexpensive. Produce is decent, but the extensive selection of sweets and snacks seem to me the stores raison dêtre. Be sure to indulge in the hot bar on your way out!
Such an amazing grocery store, especially if youre looking for some tasty meat or fish. I love their short ribs and their sushi tuna, delicious and affordable. They get fresh pastries and great produce. There is parking in the attached garage with a door into the store.
I love H Mart in Beaverton, but this one is closer to my house. The selection here isnt as good, but it works. The sliced meats for Korean BBQ are priced well and make for a fun night on the tabletop bbq. Most significant negatives are the selection, parking spots are way to small, and homeless people up and down the street. The last one isnt H Mart but in a review all things are considered.
For anyone visiting for the first time, this is the smallest HMart I have been to. I did not know this before arriving, but I tempered my expectations and as such I expected a smaller selection. However, I was disappointed in particular with the selection of Kimchi. When I was visiting they were almost out of Kimchi. There other selections of items were good, but the nearly empty Kimchi selection is I am hoping an artifact of COVID and shipping issues. While this is great for a local shop, I will likely choose to visit a different location for any large stocking up of items.
Not the biggest HMart but it definitely had all the essentials in there and some. I came to see if it would make me cry, but instead of leaving with a tear stained shirt, I left with a boat load of premade banchan and a package of fish egg sacs and cakes
Great prices just wish the deli had more variety.
I love this store. Also, one of the cashiers is the funniest, most wholesome people on the planet.
Maybe this store is wonderful and we just went on a bad day but my wife got pretty sick after eating prepared food and when asking for Wasabi to go with food we bought, I got a major attitude problem from the lady behind the prepared foods counter who told me next time I should go buy my own. Also the sushi rice was very hard and dried out ...definitely seemed like it was left over from yesterday. Hopefully this was a one off, but some of the staff definitely has a long way to go when it comes to customer service.
A nice selection of meat and other grocery items
Only wish we had one in our area of Milwaukie Oregon. Love the pastries prepared at the in-house Tigard bakery store, then shipped to other locations, and the large variety of fresh and frozen seafood!
Me and my partner LOVED it in here, there’s plenty of food selections- it’s smaller but there’s so much to look at and we got the same cashier who was so sweet! If you’re nearby, stop in!
This is my favorite Asian market. I’ve been here several time. There’s not too crowded like the other places maybe because They just opened less than a year. This place is clean and also its restroom. Things are pretty organized in every section. The prices are not quite different from the other Asian markets. Moreover, they have a great deal like weekly specials. They have fresh seafood and meat departments. They also have nice staple selections such as rambutan and frozen durians, which are opened. That’s fantastic I’ve barely seen this elsewhere in Portland. Personally, I love salmon. They also have clean salmon in the package but not just salmon! They also have sashimi which is pretty cheap and convenient. There are many staff and they’re all wearing red vests. Plus their staff are extremely friendly. First time I was there, one of the cashiers offered me a rice cake which was so good. The parking lots seem pretty small and have tight spaces. Overall is great!! Nice staff, clean place, good atmosphere, and has everything. Bored? Go there and spend time finding something new!
You can find various Korean groceries and foods. Recommend to order Kimbap at the bar!! Flavory and its real Kimbap as I ate in Korea!!
Honestly for a inner city h mart this has a great variety and selection - they don’t have as much as their Tigard/Beaverton location, but they have everything you might need. I think their seafood selection is standout and they have so many different kinds of noodles and their produce section has most everything you would need. The parking garage spots are narrow - if you have a larger car I’d suggest parking on the street
Its a great neighborhood market. Pricier than others but still good.
Staff are always busy but kind, everything is clean and well stocked and the produce and meat is fresh. Usually deli sushi and fried chicken, huge case of drinks, well-curated wine/sake/import beer/craft beer. Some home goods. Hard to park.
Awesome store! They often have gangnange or Korean popcorn and Im mad obsessed!Great produce - fresh and not too spendy. Full selection of lots of snacks, teas, frozen, seafood etc.
Love this place so much! They have a great variety of Asian goods. If youre looking for awesome Korean goodies, this is the place to visit!
Good selection of pan Asian foods at reasonable prices
Nice place to visit so good they got it all asian food and drinl
Super big Asian food mart. Has a great selection of fish and really good prices on more specialty meats.
Great selection, better prices for asian goods than standard grocers
Super clean and organized. We thought the prices, on the few items we checked, were pretty good. Well be back again
It is definitely more selection than what we have in Boise as far as Korean markets are concerned. But its more of an Asian market that has more Korean options than a straight up Korean market.I wish the soju and banchan selection was broader.Parking garage is shared with apartments above the market but plenty of street parking nearby.
Wow! I have never had such a fresh and clean selection of food!! This store has everything from authentic foods to white people food. Their packaging is sooooooo much cleaner than your normal grocery or farmers market!!! This is now my primary grocer store!! They’re so popular that they’re underground parking is always packed.
Great selection of Asian foods and goods
Love this place. So convenient to get my korean groceries here! Also love the korean fried chicken counter.
Great Korean place for groceries...they got hot plates, hot food to go!
Best quality fresh meat and vegetables, with almost every hard to find Asian sauce and spice. They also have a hot deli with boba and Korean fried chicken.
Love love love this store! Filled with a bunch of goodies and things I didn’t know I needed! 10000000/10 come to Hmart you won’t regret it!!
Great selection and good prices! Love their fish options
Much smaller than the Hmart in TigardWe came down to look for this ramen/ tteokbokki kit and unfortunately couldnt find that or another specific tteokbokki that is at the Tigard one. This store does have others that that one does not but the selection is limited. We got some steamed dumplings, not the best in my opinion so soft it fell apart as I tried to pick it up. But 3 for 3.99 isnt bad. They had a small wall for their bakery items, and by the packaging they all came from the bakery in Tigard fresh.Right at checkout we saw they had food and drink you could order and we got korean corn dogs cause Ive always wanted to try them! They have an air fryer we waited about 10 minutes. The sausage is a fish cake. They also had fried chicken and tteokbokki. Its a good spot if you dont want to drive an hour to Tigard like me.
A nice selection of asian food and supplies.
Its a really nice place, the food is really good and I personally enjoy it. I really recommend it to everyone
I love to cook asian food and I can find most of the ingredients I need here! The store is always tidy and the people working there are always kind.
Small store, but great stuff.
Such a great selection of meat cuts and fish. Always clean and organized store with helpful people.
Decent selection but really pricy compared to the places on 82nd or out in Beaverton
Good place for fresh Korean fare.
Great selection store is very clean and friendly stop.
Very cool Korean store with lots of unique items. Good meats as well. They should have more of the common stuff like bread etc though
Great selection of fish and produce. Unique items. Excellent grocery store!
I appreciate having an Asian market closer to home. They always have excellent produce and lots of cooking essentials.
Clean...great selection
H Mart. So convenient in town for those sometimes elusive specialty Asian food items. Also a great selection of wines and boozes and some really fun deli items. I can almost ALWAYS get kewpie here. If you dont know, now you know.
Terrible customer service . Never come back again
All the Korean products you know and love, or will love! Hot foods to go.
Very nice place for shopping food!! Especially sea foods!
Asian supermarket filled with products that places like Freddies and Safeway dont carry.
So cute! I had never been but they have all the asian staples I need! Definitely will be my go to store now.
Such a great spot for produce and stuff you cant always find other places. My niece gets the sodas!
Pleasant environment, good selection of Asian foods.
