Wayyyy more than a consignment shop! Thank you for this unique diamond design multi-colored area rug and this stellar solid wood hall tree with full length beveled mirror and storage bench. Also our (4) mahogany dining room chairs with velvet seat cushions. (We put one in our living room for a guest - super comfy!)The owners, Sam and Caz are a delight! Every time we visit this shop theres always something new - we go a couple times a month just to see all the cool new things they found on their estate & auction ventures. We were looking for specific items and they found us exactly what we wanted. This place is for buyers and sellers! They even built a website for requests and photos of their inventory. Some times we just go to browse, visit with them and share whats been going on.It is a warm relaxed experience at Cherished Possessions - the art on the walls is something we really enjoy too. Stop by when you can - You will be happy you did like we are every time.
I left a large collection of world war 1 era china as well as some other pieces from the same time period for consignment on July 27. I was repeatedly told it would be too time consuming to count the pieces that day but not to worry they would count it for me. Well I should not have been so willingly duped. I was also told I would hear about pricing before the items were to be sold within a day or two. Receiving no such communication I reached out on the Friday trying to figure out what the hold up was. I was then told that they did not have time to return all communications but that I would receive a phone call by Tuesday the 10th of August. Again I received no such communication. I went to the store today 8/15 to reclaim my items only to find that they had priced and sold the items without verifying pricing with me. Only after this whole process was I told that they would take 50% of the sale prices as their own profit. Also one of the items I left there was never even written down on the agreement sheet. So the item is simply lost. If you choose to sell your items through consignment here beware. Count your items, photograph everything, and expect a level of communication worse than the government. Also I was told that the check for the items sold wouldnt be cut until the 10th of the month. So I am holding my breath to see that I actually receive the pittance for the items I consigned with them.
I purchased several items from Cherished Possessions recently and am very pleased. Prices were fair on everything I looked at. I also had some things I needed to part with, in one case a very large table that wouldn’t fit in my apartment due to purchasing a new one. They were great and came out within the hour to take it away.
I absolutely adore this store. Whenever we need something, whether it may be a media cabinet, lamp or end table, I first take a look online to see if Cherished Possessions might have something that will fit into our decor. Lately, every time I look, I find just the right item to fit our needs. BUT I also keep browsing, and then find something that I didnt know I needed!! Got a very neat piano chair with a back for our Grands to use as they practice playing the piano. It is so easy for us during this crazy time to find just the perfect piece. They describe it online so you can measure your own space to see if it will be the perfect piece. I highly recommend Cherished Possessions and have been frequenting their store (current location in Portland and prior in SoPo) for many years.
Iconic Maine wicker porch chairs! Cherished Possesions is a great resource for quality products. Owners care about your experience.
Great offerings and great customer service!!
So cheap and worth the drive
Way too many dining table sets. But, a nice variety and pieces in great condition. Fair prices for the most part.
Wonderful shop with friendly helpful people. They have beautiful items at great prices.
We stumbled upon this amazing shop and we are so happy we did! They went above and beyond to help us...and I mean above and beyond!Thank you so much ❤️
So cheap worth the check
Large space. Clean. Alllll kinds of interesting items. The place has lots and lots of armoires and antique writing desks Victorian chairs hutches ... home fixing things that are Grand and small.. an item for every price bracket.. other obscure things like vintage toys, picnic baskets, other cool baskets... Sweet kimono robes ... tools.. and the customer service was very good. Not in your face but there to help pinpoint things out when they see a curiosity on your face. Super nice people. I believe their names were Sammi and Kaz. I was impressed that their business has an online stock of their items so you can keep track of things you are interested in or even just basically shop from the couch... good for them
I haven’t been to the new location untilyesterday. I was thrilled to finally make it.The shop was filled with some beautiful things, many were just delivered. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Sam was very personable and also hugely helpful when it came time to load up our van. They supplied us with packing blankets etc... to help with the move.Their website is great and its mice to take a peek ahead of time. I can’t wait to go back. The prices are very reasonable compared to other consignment shops.
Great selection, fair prices, nice people.
Wonderful shopping experience with a wide variety of items that are clean, quality and sturdy. Friendly knowledgeable staff, eager to work with customers. Outstanding service with wonderful items.
Great shop. The new owners are very nice and very accommodating. I found a $1400 daybed from Crate & Barrel that was in fantastic condition, I bought it for $550 and love it. So pretty and so comfortable. It’s the kind of place that has high turnover and so it’s worth stopping by frequently to score the best treasures.
We finally found Cherished Possessions after losing track of their location. They are back on Auburn St in a beautiful, spacious building. Cas and Sam were delightful to work with. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. They have a expansive selection of antique and designer furniture and accessories. My sisters and I filled the van and then some. I can’t wait to go back. It takes a lot of work to keep a place like this going. They do a great job. I’ll be bringing my things here to sell too.
I stopped by store a few days ago I found some incredible pieces. The owners were very friendly and more than happy to help me find exactly what I was looking for. Also I found a few things from Alex’s restoration collection, these items were beautifully restored in a way that preserves the timeless quality of these antiques. Super happy to have found all the pieces I needed for my house in one place rather than searching everywhere. All together great place with great antiques that bring warmth to any home will definitely be back.
Today I went to cherished possessions, there are many antiques that are very beautiful and that are a good price. There customer service is amazing. I definitely recommend going to cherished possessions!
Picked up two beautiful couches here. Huge space, owners are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend whether youre looking for a specific piece or just feel like browsing through some vintage collections!
I have bought many things at this store and just love it. I particularly love the fabulous wood work of Alex Nikolov. He is an extremely talented restoration expert. We have several of his pieces which we will treasure forever.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANYTHING! They take your consignments, sell them and then dont give you your money. They do not answer their phone and lots of lies and excuses when you go into the store to try to get the money they owe you. I have been waiting since last summer to get a check from them. This is not a business to trust.
SELLER BEWARE! YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY! BUYER BEWARE YOU ARE BUYING STOLEN ITEMS! We sold a table in October through their consignment. The notice came through their website that the item had been sold so we could come get the money. We even have the stub they give to identity the item. Four times since then (the last time being 4/6/17) we have gone to get the money and been told (in an angry voice by that hateful women) that they just need our phone number and they will look up in their records to verify the sale and write us a check. When I told her this was the fourth time she said she didnt care. I said I will have to take you to small claims and she said go for it! My experience is just as the other reviewers have experienced. They take your furniture on consignment, sell it and you will NEVER see the money. Somebody needs to take them to court and expose all of this, but I dont have the time for such a small item.
What a collection of good furniture, art jewelry... could do a whole house. Or office . Ill be back
DO NOT SELL YOUR ITEMS HERE!! I wish I could give them 0 stars. The customer service has always been horrible but as long as I was getting a check for my items that had sold, I was willing to overlook the fact that they wouldnt call me back after leaving several messages or emails. My last dealing with them caused me to take back all of my unsold items and I will NEVER consign with them again. Over the course of 3 months, I tried to get an answer from them as to where my items were and when I would receive payment for items that were sold 2 months ago. Again, no returned phone calls and after several attempts of emailing them, I finally got a impatient response back (like I was bugging them). They finally found my items and I could come pick them up (one item they had damaged in the move but I never said anything because how can I prove they did the damage?) but said to be patient and that the accounting department was behind on checks after they moved locations. REALLY? It takes them over 2 months to catch up on checks? I still havent received payment and am slowly realizing that I probably never will. Very disappointed.
Do not buy or sell here! As a previous reviewer stated, they are actually selling stolen items since they refuse to pay the consign or. They also drastically marked down prices on items sometimes within day of arrival without consignor permission. I had what I believed to be a good relationship with the owners prior to their move to Portland. Since they moved, I have not been paid for any items sold without a fight. They now owe me almost 800 dollars and I have gotten every excuse as to why they cannot pay. This is no way to run a business. I am astounded that the owner can look you right in the eye and lie about payment. Items have disappeared and I have been told that they never existed. These owners are lying and cheating people with no conscience.I am now going to contact the Attorney General and Channel 8s on Your Side. I would give zero stars if I could!
Our favorite place to visit and buy great antiques!
Do not use this business. I placed a number of estate items with them for consignment and they cherry-picked the good items and outright stole them. These items were never placed on the showroom floor or internet for sale, and when I asked about that and asked for the items to be returned, they were unable to find the items and had no record of them having been sold. I called the owners numerous times and was told it was their property to do what they wanted with it and there was nothing I could do about it.They dont provide any updates on the sales of your items or what youre owed, its entirely on you to stay on top of them otherwise theyll just keep your stuff and never pay you.
A real treasure hunt. Amazing peoples as well
Very happy with the help and service after our recent purchase of a very large and very heavy credenza. Thank you! Well be back.
Always fun and interesting to visit and see whats available.
They get one star because I cant put zero. One of the worst companies i have ever done business with. They sold one of my framed photographs and have never paid me. My other framed photos are missing in action so you can draw your own conclusions what they did with those. But worse...The woman at the store promised to look into the issue but never did. She was rude and hostile. Should definitely be enrolled in Dale Carnegie. Evidently they dont believe in returning emails or calls either. If you do business with these clowns you do so at your own risk.Horrible experience!
Wish I might give this place a negative. As I am not able to do that, Ill give it a single undeserved star. Im just glad they are not in South Portland any more. Be extremely careful.
The store used to be wonderful. Now it needs a good vacuuming. Its over stocked with junk, poorly displayed. The record keeping is sloppy. Try Heirloom Conseignments on Ocean St. instead.
Cheats and scams. They dont pay for the goods they soldSeller be aware! They used to be a reputable business. What went wrong.
I would give no stars and wish I could give minus stars. Do not trust them with your possessions, cherished or otherwise. I had five items disappear, unaccounted for and not compensated for. I saw one of them in Portlands Flea-for-All for sale at a lofty price - so they clearly sold it. They have been claiming that the move from South Portland to Portland resulted in data base errors. That was months and months ago. We have called repeatedly, gone to the new store numerous times, been promised action, lied to and asked to leave the premises. If I can warn all to stay away from Cherished Possessions I will at least have some satisfaction.
The staff is friendly, and they keep the store neat and clean and dusted. Prices, however, were very high, even for items I was aware were not worth much.
Its still a fun place to shop - you can find some fun bargains - but the new owners make it less enjoyable than it used to be. Integrity lacking altho at first you make think all is well as the manager can be charming. I am glad someone here spoke as a consigner - I will beware. I would say go and buy if you see a good deal or something you love but be prepared to be disappointed with the customer service. (Oh, Re: dickering - something that is usually expected in most shops of this kind- seems to be treated almost like an insult.)
Wish I could leave zero stars. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ITEMS ON CONSIGNMENT HERE. Not trustworthy, dishonest. Poor record keeping and communication. Pretty sure items were outright taken, or that the sales were not reported. Seller beware.
They agree to consign your items. They sell them and you never receive your money. They give you plenty of excuses. Then they never respond to emails or phone calls. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Don’t know why I would even give them one star.
Very helpful and friendly staff always
Very welcoming employees and good pricing for the quality of antiques displayed for consignment at this store. Highly recommend taking a look at what they have.
Have called and left message after message. Poor communication. Website says open but no one there. Glad I called to make sure they were there before driving in, but nope... Nothin. Terrible way to run a business. I wont be shopping there. Got a few great deals when they were at the Cape Elizabeth location, but something is terribly wrong now.
BEWARE! Buyers and sellers beware. You will not get any communication or your money from this store. I have not been paid for items I have sold and just get the run around. Do not deal with this business. I dont know how they are still in business. More than extemely disappointed with this store.
Can get unique items at good prices.
A very good second hand store if you are looking for it they probably got it if not they can probably find it for you family run business very nice crew that works there working on the environment and the store to bring more customers and other businesses to the little Plaza they own
Do not sell (or buy) here! They are not paying people whose items have sold. Ive been waiting since January for items sold in December.... It is now April. Ive made multiple calls and visits and still no payment. Terrible.
I had talked with Cas first week of November 2015 and let her know I would be in Maine over the holidays in November and then the last two weeks of December and wanted to set up a Estate sale, the last week of Dec. or first week of Jan. I had set a date for Cas & Sam to look at the items and see the setup and sign papers. I worked getting everything cleared out of rooms and had everything in piles for them to evaluate and they didnt show up or even call to cancel. I had called and left 3 or 4 messages over the next few days and didnt hear back, so I went to the store and a younger male asked to help me, I said I was hoping to set an appointment up for an Estate sale and he said Cas could help me with that, I was like great! He said let me grab here for you. He went to a small room and she came out talking on the phone. She came out to me and held her finger up ( referring to wait a min ). I was told she misplaced her cell and was unable to respond to my messages. I moved pass it and set another date for Cas & Sam to show up and the didnt show up again, I left a message telling her I was going to post this and I got a very angry and loud women telling me that I better not do it!!! I said I could have already had it done and back down south (Home). I was shocked to see how many people have had the same problems, I guess its my fault for not doing my homework and looking into this so called business the Sam & Cas run. Its sad that most people that sell items are people in need or funds and to have people pull it out from under you and nothing you can do! WHAT A SHAME!!! Please consider what people have had for experiences with Cherished Possessions in South Portland, Maine.
We should have seen the red flags as soon as we met with Cas, who runs the estates side of this business. We had to call her when she was late to our first meeting. She excused it by explaining a bit too much about her son-in-laws medical condition that caused her to be late. Once we met, she convinced us of the merits of consigning the furniture and other items we wanted removed from my parents estate. In hindsight, I expect that she pushed us away from doing an estate sale because of the higher commission and leverage. We signed a contract and paid them $600 to dispose of some items that they were not interested in consigning. We carefully organized everything into clearly defined groups with sticky notes designating the items that they should take. There were other groups of items that we were keeping or giving to other family members to remember my parents. These were marked with a different colored sticky note and a name. When the pickup-day came, Cas cancelled at the last minute and rescheduled for a time when we were not able to meet her. Since my siblings and I live out of state and were rushing to get the house on the market, we (stupidly) let Cas and her team come into the house on their own. The following day, we returned to find that they had cherry-picked ALL of our possessions. They had taken some of the things that wed agreed on, but not all. We ended up having to pay someone else to remove the rest of the items we were trashing or donating. Worst of all though, Cherished Posssions also took things that were clearly marked for us or for another family member. My sister was so upset that she called the police. Unfortunately, because we let them into the house, we could not file charges. Now that Cherished Possessions has all of our stuff, they have all the power. They were supposed to provided an inventory of all the items that they took and let us approve it for sale. We didnt receive the inventory for several months, by which time, many of the items had been sold. Needless to say, we never had the opportunity to approve any sales. We called and called to try to get our stuff back but one of two things always happened: Cas would not answer and her voicemail box was full or someone at the store answered but Cas was not there and NO ONE else had the authority to give us any information or an inventory. We would leave a message and occasionally Cas would call back. She was snippy and defensive about the whole situation and could not provide any solutions for us except to wait for our contract to end and come pick up our stuff. Several conversations ended with her hanging up on us, which is about the worst customer service I can imagine, even if you are dealing with a disgruntled customer. Finally, when the first of the contracts came up (apparently the contract period starts when they decide to put your stuff out in the store, not the day they steal it from you), we went to the store to retrieve it. We told Cas our intentions a week before we came, but she never showed up. We worked with the sales floor manager who told us we had to find our stuff in their huge, cluttered store. It was like a nighmare version of an I Spy book. Also, he was not authorized to print out a current inventory for us. We finally persuaded him to break the rules and give it to us since matching up the inventory numbers was the only way to be sure something was ours and if something had been sold. There was still stuff that was not in the store and might have been at a warehouse. We took everything we could and drove it straight to GoodWill to donate it instead of letting them make another penny off of us.We considered suing them to get our things back, but it would have risked the estates money and would have drained any energy remaining after the loss of our parents AND dealing with this situation. Needless to say, we wouldnt recommend this company to our worst enemy. They are crooks with no morals or empathy.
Lots of stuff. Browse and you walk out with something.
I consigned furniture here in August. I know that they have moved, and I also know that they have sold some of what I consigned. I have never received the check and my emails since they moved have been totally ignored. They owe me money And will not reply as to why they have not sent me a check.
Cool antiques.
Nice selection.
Good stuff
Great deals
Loved it
