Since choosing DR. Marine I have had absolutely no problems. John is friendly and thorough. Ive hired numerous service providers in the past... this is one Id recommend.

Very knowledgeable. Helped remedy several issues on an older boat(new to me) to get it running. Pricing is fair and work is done promptly. Would highly recommend.

First of all Id give ZERO stars if I could. This guy John knows NOTHING about boat electronics unless he gets LUCKY! He spent 3 visits and 3 months trying to fix my alternator on my Yanmar. He BURNED out the second one and then DISAPPEARED. When I texted him to see if he was ever coming back he told me to FIND SOMEONE ELSE. He was NEVER on time and cancelled a couple of times. Get your neighbor to help you fix your boat....they probably know more! As you can see by his response below he even FORGOT THAT I PAID HIM $150! AND I needed to buy a second alternator because he burned out the first one...which BTW WAS the correct alternator. Maybe you should know your limitations!

This young man is an excellent mechanic. Shows up on time, provides a quick diagnosis, and works quickly and efficiently. His workmanship is top notch and pricing is very reasonable. I wouldnt think of using and other mechanic in south Florida.

John is the man!I did a google search to try and find someone to help me out with the boat I just purchased. He was prompt when it came down to responding and seemed like a genuine guy. Even after I told him I was going to try to do the repair myself, he offered to answer any questions I might have while repairing the boat myself which I thought was awesome as most people would just move on and not care because they arent getting paid. I completed the repair about 95% and ended up having him help me anyway and he took care of the issue quickly and explained where I went wrong.Put it this way, he will be over when I have my next barbeque! I appreciate you John. You will be my mechanic from here on out buddy. Thanks for your help. I recommend John to anyone and everyone.

Awesome Marine Mechanic. He took the job when other mechanics would not even return my phone call. He completed the job quickly and my boat runs GREAT!!!! If you need a reliable Marine Mechanic, definitely give him a call.

Not so often I take the time out to write a review, but since real is rare in South Florida I was compelled to! John is real - professional, knowledgeable, responsive, honest, and a total pleasure to interact with. Hopefully he continues to make my “first time boat owner” experience easy.

If you need mobile marine service, look no further than John with Dr. Marine. I had him come out today to take care of a few projects and he was professional, courteous and just an all around good guy. He know exactly what to do with the projects and was fast and efficient. Super happy to have found a reliable mobile marine service!

John made an appointment with me today to meet me at my boat at 9 AM he calls me at 9 AM to tell me that he’s got another job he has to take care of and that it would be best if I went on home. I took a day off from work and traveled 25 miles to the marina. Good luck with this one

John was great. Knew what he was doing and catch this: showed up early. Installed a second battery on my pontoon boat. Works great. Would recommend Dr. Marine for any boat work.

The Dr. is very professional and extremely knowledgeable regarding a wide range of outboard engines. His service calls are always prompt, and rates are fair and honest!

Disappointed in the experience.Did not negotiate a flat fee and timeframe with him, and he took advantage of it. The job (a somewhat partial rewire of a 17 ft boat) carried into 3 months before John decided to not show up anymore and leave my boat stranded on the boat lift with no batteries wired.Multiple times along the way I had to fix his careless work -1) he yanked the navigation wires from the boat, and told me i would need to get bluetooth nav lights... I was able to snake the wires back to the front of the boat, didnt even get a thank you.2) told me I would need to cut a hole in the floor of the boat to access the fuel sender, I was able to take a screwdriver and change the fuel sender out myself, no thank you from him3) left my boat on the lift with no batteries connected or nav lights hooked up, had to wire them myselfThis was overall poor quality work (didnt seal his butt connections, left his workspace dirty every time, even had some blood on the console at one point that he didnt clean up) and I wouldnt recommend him to anyoneIm sure he will answer here and say that I stopped paying him, which I did, only after he was making no progress at all and still charging me. Overall he doesnt own up to his mistakes and is very childish in his responses (as evidenced in his other responses on bad reviews).

John is great! He was quick to respond to my inquiry, and was able to schedule me quickly. He showed up on time and was quick to diagnose my problem, and his repair was perfect. Very reasonable charge to me, and he was very helpful answering some of the questions I had about my boat. I would highly recommend John and have told all my boating friends about him. Knowledgeable, Value and Diligent. John’s work is second to none. The workmanship is clean and he shoots it to you straight every time. I wouldn’t put my boat in anyone else’s hands. Hes a great guy who you can run anything by him. All that and he shows up! On time too!

I never write reviews, but I am going to spend time out of my day. I can take time out of my day today because I took the full day off in anticipation that I was going to have a full redo on all of the audio and electronics and wanted to be around. After multiple text and confirmations on location on where and when to meet; Dr. Marine was not at the right location this morning.When I called and texted multiple times up to two hours past the meet time, Dr. Marine didnt answer and did not respond to texts. I am a little confused and I saw the reviews pretty good on here. I am sorry that I had to write this, but I dont want somebody else to go through the same thing and essentially waste en entire day.

My port Evinrude E-Tec engine cowling was stuck and the dealer scheduled me for an appointment in two weeks. It is a two cycle engine which means that if could not open the engine cowling, I could not add oil in the oil reservoir and I could not use the boat for two weeks. I have some technical background and can do simple repairs on my own but no matter how hard I tried, I could not open the engine without breaking the cowling latch. John responded almost immediately and opened the engine in less than 5 minutes. He also diagnosed my engine for a reasonable price and gave me some good ideas. He is an experienced mechanic and more importantly, unlike most dealers, he is punctual and professional. I highly recommend John with Dr. Marine!

John was polite, professional, honest and very fair with pricing. I will be using him for all my mechanical needs. Its hard to find someone you can trust but John was very honest right from the start. He could have easily scammed me with the issues I had but instead he helped me. I will continue to use him and recommend him.

John has done 3 jobs so far, was able to fix my issues without unnecessary replacement of parts. Honest and shows up. I will continue to use him for all my repairs. Bought a used windlass, he told me to return it and he fixed mine. Bought a fuel sender, he told me to return it as he fixed the old one. When he fixed my windlass, all my gauge lights worked. I have been very happy with all the work.

John cleaned a fist full of broken impeller debris from my yanmar engines heat exchangers on a Lagoon 420 headed into charter service. He is fresh voice of fairness and competence. In knowledge and experience hes excellent and with every boat something hes not seen he rules problems in or out with integrity and interest to do right. In this regard he is solid platinum. Id fly him in to fix anything.

I have appointment with this guy and he keeps push back the appointment and when I call him and he just told me said the appointment have to change to next week or I can find someone. The main point is we have set up the appointment and he didn’t tell me anything until appointment time i call him and he told me he is fixing someone’s boat he cannot come to fix my boat. Why you make appointment with me and keep change the time and bring a lot of excuses.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon John with Dr. Marine I need to have the high pressure fuel pump in the VST changed on my 03 Mercury outboard. Mercury decided to hide the VST in the middle of the motor on this particular model! He was super efficient and got the new pump in with out a hitch! The boat had been sitting for about 4 years and it fired right up after the new pump was installed. He literally saved me over $1000 on the repair of my outboard compared what it would have probably cost for me to bring it to a marina to have the work done! John’s rates are extremely reasonable and he is super knowledgeable and will not let you down! He is a no bs trustworthy kind of guy which is very rare to find in the marine industry!!

Ripoff, completely incompetent and cost us over $500 replacing random parts trying to figure out what was wrong with ac. He then tells us boat ACs just arent strong and they are not supposed to work well. We called someone else who had freezing AC pumping in a couple hours, John refused to refund us for the time he wasted not knowing how to fix boats.
