Employees not wearing masks :(Several mechanics came in an out not wearing masks. One employee forgot their phone in a customers car and when it was returned it wasnt even wiped down before he picked it up.Please just take more precautions, its very scary out there. I recently brought my Outback in for brakes. I also had felt a small shudder occasionally but failed to mention it to the technician at the time I brought the car in. Douglas called me to say the brakes were done and they mentioned the tech noticed the shudder and what needed to be done to fix it. My 8 year old Outback now rides smooth as silk. Minor issues can turn into major ones and Douglas has been outstanding at making sure that never happens with my now 13 year old Toyota Matrix and my wifes 21 yr old Toyota Four Runner. Doug and his team have kept both in top running condition for years. And their honesty is unmatched. A few yrs back Toyota told me my check engine light necessitated a $1200 repair or it might stop running. Doug checked it out and told me it was a simple fix and had no impact on the cars performance or passing emission checks. A simple cheap fix and several yrs later the car is still running fine and Ive passed 3 emissions tests. Goodbye dealership. And they will discuss your questions and give you an honest/accurate estimate before any work is done. American or foreign, Douglas Automotive Repair is best.

I went to the new AAA facility on Rt. 59, by the Mall, for an oil change, because my car was overdue, they could get me in almost immediately, and I had a AAA coupon for a $23.95 oil change. After completing the oil change, they told me (1) there was seepage around the oil pan, and I should have the gasket replaced; and (2) the front struts were leaking, and should be replaced. They gave me a quote for both jobs.Then I went to Douglas Automotive:They took a look, then explained that, with the location of my oil filter, anytime someone changed the oil it was likely to drip on the rim of the oil pan. Since oil was not dripping from the pan, and there was no seepage on the side of the pan opposite the oil filter, the seepage might be nothing more than where some drips of oil have hit the rim of the pan, on prior oil changes, and migrated around part of the rim. Their solution: clean the rim of the pan, and at the NEXT oil change, if theres new seepage, its time to replace the gasket. Price quote: less than AAA.Then, they confirmed that the struts were leaking. (Not to be completely unexpected after 8 1/2 years and 73,000 miles.) Given that I have not yet experienced any symptoms of bad struts, they said that it was not urgent, but the clock was running on replacing the struts. Price quote: less than AAA.And this is why I trust Douglas Automotive: common sense approach, and not overpriced.
