Amazing cute little coffee shop!! I loved the ambience and the courtyard they had! It was like a secret little medieval town theme and the greenery with red cobbled brick walls and the rustic signs was magnificent. The muffin is the try for! And the Chai Tea Latte was pretty good!

Always enjoy coming to Totem for a drink and a small bite to eat. I’ve never actually had the coffee, but their dirty chai (hot or cold) is really good. Bagels and donuts are super yummy too. Love all of the outdoor seating. Employees are always friendly. It’s a great asset to Placerville!

Didn’t try the coffee but did try one of their kombuchas which was refreshing and delicious. The courtyard was a really pleasant place to sit too!

Very busy today, a Friday AM. I enjoy sitting in the courtyard. Heard some interesting menu choices for healthy breakfasts. They lost my coffee order and gave another patron the wrong order. Chalk it off to being busy, I guess.

Totem Coffee is a hidden paradise in historic downtown Placerville. With delicious vegan and gluten free options, and Kombucha on tap, you will want to bring a book and stay a while! I devoured their vegan GF chocolate chip peppermint donut along with a vanilla oat milk latte. Then I tried a refreshing cup of their vanilla pine kombucha (thank you for the awesome paper straw!). I forgot to take a pic of their yummy eats, but I recall they had a vegan falafel dish and a black bean patty with avocado yogurt. I will definitely come back to try those!

I have been here twice and have had a great experience both times. The baristas are very friendly and helpful. Their iced lavender roobios tea is amazing, but its their coconut chia seed pudding that is a must try. They top it off with granola, fresh fruit and a little drizzle of honey. So yummy! The location is tucked away from Main Street, so its quiet. Sometimes they have a local band that plays in the courtyard. Highly recommend going here for a coffee break!

Ordered a small hot chocolate. It took 15+ minutes for them to make it. About 6 people who arrived after me got their drinks before I did. I saw them making it and it took them 1 minute! When I tried the hot chocolate, it tasted like stale cardboard with a hint of cinnamon and scarcely any chocolate. Really bad. Do not order, do not go here. Only 2 stars because setting/atmosphere was nice.

I watched and recieved two.Your staff with CSUS hat clearly looked up as my husband said stingers up. The atmosphere was dismissive of us. Your staff clearly was engaged in deep conversation with another customer as they ignore us at the check out counter.

I ordered a chocolate dont that melted in my mouth because it was freshly made... amazing! The latte is fantastic and they dont charge extra like everywhere else for alternative milk like coconut milk or almond, all it the price. Great place! Fantastic coffee!

Its obvious that the proprietors of Totem have a respect for quality. The atmosphere is trendy yet comfortable with great outdoor seating around the fountain. Their coffee is incredible, and their food is unique and delicious. Totem is definitely a hip coffee shop but its not merely a trendy place to go, they have quality that backs it up.

The best coffee place in Placerville. One of the best anywhere, ever. Excellent drinks, great ambience, plenty of seating areas, inside and out. I dont often eat there, but I think the donuts must come from heaven.Jacob and Alisa, and the entire staff, are wonderful people. It theres even just a tiny problem, they fix it.(Except for the toilet handle). Lots of great regular customers...and maybe you too. Pretty much the heart of the Placerville scene. Shares a beautiful courtyard with the surrounding businesses.Not to be missed.

Just moved from the Bay Area and its hard to give up the coffee there. I was delighted to find a hipster coffee joint right downtown! Was greeted by the right smell of fresh roasted beans. Had pour over coffee and it was definitely the quality Ive come to know and love. Planning on making this part of my regular routine.

Cute little place with a lush courtyard just outside. The food is good and they have a few vegan options. My favorite place to go in placerville. They even have vegan doughnuts which were amazing. The fancy sugar cubes are as tasty as they were cute. The lavender ones went perfectly in my tea.

Very convenient for us because we were staying at the Carey House. We order some drip coffee and some hot chocolate for the kids. I tried the hot chocolate before the kids due to past experiences with it being way too hot. Not this time! Nice work! The outside seating in the courtyard is awesome as well. Drip coffee was a little weak for me, but I prefer a very strong coffee. Might be perfect for others.

Very inviting and comfortable. The coffee was excellent and the pastry delicious. My wife’s tea came with a timer attached so the brewing time would be perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the shop.

Omg the Chocolate Espresso donuts 🍩 are to die for! Thick, cakey, baked versus fried and taste so good filled with chocolate chips and sprinkled with espresso on top. Such a cute little cafe. They have a lot of Latte flavor options and sugar options. I was super impressed with the cinnamon sugar, lavender sugar, and cardamom latte options. Definitely will come back when I’m in town.

Great little spot in Placerville. I bought some delicious tea here that was recommended to me by the owner. He was spot on with the Jasmine pearls from The Tao of Tea. Delicious.

Cute, but not very good. I got some avocado toast with pico. They didnt tell me they were out of tomatoes though. When I got it and they were missing I asked for some pico on the side which is when they told me they were out and threw some peppers in my meal to make up for it.I dont like peppers. At all. Or how their flavor gets everywhere. I wish I had anything else. But instead, I push peppers to the side. Just wish they told me and didnt add extra things without saying something. Or mentioning they are missing 1 of the 3 ingredients to my meal :/

My boyfriend and I have been here quite a few times for both coffee and for food. My boyfriend is quite a coffee snob, and has proclaimed that Totem has the best stuff in Placerville. I am little less discerning, but still really enjoy this place. There is a lot of integrity in their beverages and food. The owner seems like a really cool person too. Glad theyve arrived and hope they stay here for a long long time!

This coffee shop was recommended by friend, so I went today with an out of town guest. I ordered a latte and was hugely disappointed. I think that it was the worst coffee I have had. It was very acidic and bitter, like it had been sitting around a long while. The presentation was nice and the shop itself was decorated rather cool, other wise I would have rated this place hated it. Hopefully the coffee isnt that bad all the time!

I like supporting cool local establishments like this one. They have a lot of unique food items that you wont find elsewhere in Placerville. Of course, great coffee. No soy milk option here though. They do have almond milk, and hemp milk options, though. Definitley worth checking out.

Jacobs roasting techniques are so superb that I do not get the jitters from any of his coffee. I love his tea too. Totem also has Kombucha is fresh and so delicious! Fresh out of the tap. Jacob gets his bagels from a local woman who makes them differently than most places, and I must say, they are divine! Fresh daily and amazingly The best bagels ever! Totem sits back in a cool courtyard next to the Carey House Hotel and Diedricks Cheese shop. Totem has indoor and outdoor seating. For those chillier days, they provide blankets to cozy up in. Fun! Youll love it here!

Delicious espresso (I had a small iced americano) and a really cozy atmosphere. While I was waiting for my drink a girl came in desperately asking about the coconut ice cream she had gotten from there sometime earlier because it was, apparently, the best ice cream she ever had. Their menu gave no indication that they even sold ice cream so I didnt get to try this life changing dessert, but next time Im in Placerville will be sure to order a scoop.

I went in yesterday for the first time as I was wandering. This place far exceeded my expectations! I was able to get a gluten free doughnut and a coconut milk latte. Im not sure if the doughnut is a regular thing or just sometimes but it was an awesome treat to go with my coffee! This may not seem like a big deal but people with food allergies understand, its a huge thing to be able to eat out somewhere and not get sick.
