Very great place! I went in recently to purchase my first instrument after shopping around at some big box places like Guitar Center and some other smaller independent stores. The staff there was so friendly and helpful and the guy who helped me (I think his name was Dave if I remember correctly... Im not good with names.) was noticeably and genuinely excited that I was starting to play an instrument. It made me feel good to see someone genuinely excited like that! The advice and encouragement and service were phenomenal. You can tell that these guys really care about what they are doing.I chose a new bass guitar and amplifier from them, and they were fairly priced and are turning out to be great! They also helped me get started by making sure I had all of the gear I needed to get started and even gave me a coupon for a free guitar lesson!I highly recommend this store! I will definitely be going back there for my musical needs.
I have an old Harmony Monterey I dug out of the closet. I do a lot of wood working on grass root instruments but thought this restoration was best left to a professional.I have dealt with this shop to buy small parts and have always been happy with the service. It took a bit of work but they brought the closet dweller back to life.Great people to deal with
Havent bought a guitar there yet. Have had several guitars set up and worked on at this store. Work was always excellent and done within a reasonable time frame. Prices for the work was reasonable. The one guy even helped me find a new bridge online for my Squier II Strat. Of course I had them install it. Going to take my new Gibson Les Paul Tribute double cut their soon to have it set up. People there are really cool and genuinely seem interested in whatever you got going on.
Excellent work from the repair shop. Instrument pricing is comparable to Big Box and large online retailers. Good selection.I have had to wait for some time before being acknowledged by the staff on several occasions, and once had to wait 20 minutes for them to open the store (I was on time, the staff member with keys was not).
Lawrence Music in my opinion is the best music store in Pittsburgh. They have a great owner (brad) who is always willing to give full attention to all customers and help them make the right decision. Guitar lessons are available and I recommend Art Boehm who has taught quitar at this store for many years....he taught my son years ago and now I am taking lessons as a retired! Great family atmosphere...check it out.
That photo of that Les Paul Standard is my picture of my Les Paul! I was never there. That have that good taste to pick one of my great modified guitars the must be very cool and smart people! I need to check them out. I love fenders too.
Lawrence music is a small, friendly business with fair prices. I bought my steel string acoustic guitar here; they threw in a free hard case. I buy many accessories here too. They service all types of guitars and amps. Keep up the good work, guys!
I love this little guitar shop! Everyone there plays or teaches something and they are very friendly. No attitudes here. They take time to help you find what you need and make great recommendations if you need something they dont carry (which is rare). I tell all my friends about this place.
Best people, best music shop in the city of Pittsburgh for all your musical needs. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and without a doubt the kindest you can deal with. They go above and beyond to make sure you get what you need. You just cant beat this place.
I love this little local guitar shop. Great service and dudes that work there, and good selection of instruments and amp in every price range. Been going to these guys for many, many years.
Great guitar shop with great instructors as well. Guitar tech Aren is excellent and instructor Andrew will help you play like a pro.
My live setup was making a sound and I couldnt figure out where it was coming from, so I brought my pedalboard and amp in. We set it up and the pros at the shop figured it out for me. These guys know what theyre doing. Highly recommend.
Prices are a little higher than same items you can find online, but very nice to be able to run in and grab accessories you might need on the spot. Staff (well..1 person working that I dealt with) was friendly and exceedingly helpful.
Great local business. Repairs on guitars are always professional and quality. Every one is always helpful and knowledgeable.
Great place to learn guitar amazing teachers that make playing guitar fun. You can choose what songs to play and you learn in easy ways
Literally can fix anything. Theres a wait. But they can fix anything. Inexpensive as well. Great care.
A terrific place for music equipment, talking about music, and meeting people that love music too. A great place to be
Amazing service and down-to-earth staff who always treat people fairly. Great place for guitar repairs, as well as accessories and new and used guitars, basses, and amps!
SCAM WARNING: Bought this guitar over the web from them sold as new! Hardware is terrible, and the frets arent seated. They offered a refund for guitar only and want to leave me on the hook for $80.00 round trip shipping for the defective product that the sent to me!
Very professional and kind. Nice variety of great guitars
My son has fallen in love with the guitar because of the outstanding lessons hes received here. From our first visit we felt like part of the family and the staff is very knowledgeable.

Best music store Ive been too by far
Have dealt with them over 40 years. Always a positive experience.
Great staff, great owner and great products. Upon moving to PGH 13ish years ago I orientated myself by immediately finding the nearest music shop. I was very lucky Lawrence Music happened to be my first stop. Brad made me feel like a friend (and local) immediately. Ive since moved and now a bit further from LM but I still remain loyal for all of my bass/amp luthier and repair work. Aaron and Art (respectively) are tremendous! Ive also managed to make a couple nice purchases along the way. Thanks LM.
