We are visiting from Boston and Constellation was close by. It’s a great spot with great service and great coffee! It was quick for us but also worth any wait too.
Terrible service!I ordered an espresso and when the barista served it to me he said If you dont like it, you come to me. Espresso was great and the place is super cool but who says that? All my friends have also had bad experiences with this particular barista as well. Definitely a snobby coffee bro vibe here.
The coffee and espresso drinks here are so good. Ive been a few times and its always so good. Today I got a sandwich (available Wed-Sun) and it was amazing. Im going to make it a point to go here more often
I am in shock. I am a Pittsburgh native and loyalist to local coffee shops from tonic to De Fer. After hearing rave reviews from the community telling me to try this place, I am unfortunately never going back. I ordered a drink not on the menu ( an americano w oat milk ) and was given the wrong drink on purpose and then the barista was rude to me. I felt uncomfortable and asked for a refund.Unfortunate overall. I hope they can learn kindness and be honest upfront. You don’t know what people go through and I’m not here for your negative projection.
Im incredibly disappointed in the experience. Its a wonderful location and cute decor, but my Americano this morning has been one of many purchases that were lackluster quality and in no way equivalent for the charge. Its quite upsetting to spend $5.20 for a large americano with at least 4oz of space that couldnt even have been filled with hot water. Further, the barista did not explain the $1.20 upcharge for 2 vs 4 shots, when most 16oz coffees come standard with 3 or 4, and instead presenting the option as inclusive of the base cost. I have tried multiple items on the menu over months, and I cannot recommend Constellation because of consistently subpar drink and service quality.
One of the best coffee experiences Ive had! The baristas were more than excited to discuss the coffees and did a wonderful job giving me and my friend the best experience possible
Constellation is consistently the best espresso in the city. Their attention to detail and limited espresso menu keeps the quality high. Parking can be a challenge but it’s worth it.
Clifford “The Big Red Dog” aka Sir Brew Master Esquire just threw down the funkiest pour over I ever did drink. If your looking for some skilled pour over in Pittsburgh....check out my boy over at Constellation.
Really nice employees and great coffee. you can tell they really care about the quality of the coffee. can’t wait to go back again!
Super good coffee! A little expensive but very worth it if you enjoy the higher quality coffee. Always a nice treat
Garbage service. Very bad experience.
Must-visit for espresso snobs. It’s hard for me to review it without cursing, it’s too #^@* good. The intense care for a perfect pull is very much appreciated 🙏 Keep up the good work.
If I would give zero stars I would. The barista won’t brew decaf “on principle” even though my wife can’t drink caffeine right now. Huge thumbs down.
I was looking for a new coffee place to go to and I wanted to try this place out, but right when I walked in the man that was working was very very rude and cussed at us. I did not feel welcome in that store so I left.
Ill never know how the coffee is here, because we were sent out of the shop before we could even finish an order. Perhaps if you know your coffee and have no questions this place could suit you. However the barista was quick to leave a bitter taste in our mouths with sarcastic quips like no theyre the experts and but thank you for respecting our business. Ill give the one star for the woman that tried to give us coffee suggestions and for the barbed barista directing us to any of the other 15 coffee shops around. So thanks for getting us to Cafe Mona, it was dope. I can respect taking pride in your craft, but theres definitely a way to balance excellent coffee with being a decent human being and having adequate customer service. This place just wasnt it.
My partner and I had a very negative experience with the barista there. We had placed an order already and were consider adding another drink to try when the barista there made some really rude comments about how we should just ask him what tasted good rather than “wasting” his time. No other customer was in the shop. We were so shocked we ended up buying the drinks anyway, but i don’t think we’d go back. There was another female barista there who gave as a free drink. She was very kind. One star for her presence.
If I could give this coffee shop zero stars I would. It was my first time in and the barista was so mean to my friends and I that we had to leave. We asked a few questions politely since we didnt know the menu the other worker was very nice and tried to help us find a drink that we wanted. However the barista kept interjecting with rude comments and it felt like he was attacking us. I have never experienced anything like this before and wouldnt suggest this place to my worst enemy. I hope the barista works on his basic human kindness and sees that no one deserves to be treated that way.
This is my local coffee shop. The owner and manager are my favorite - super sweet people. I’m aways happy to support this business. Great coffee and lattes. Very cute minimalistic decor with high ceilings. As far as working at coffee shops go, this is a good choice if you’re going for more of a calm, quiet chill vibe; there are large communal tables, a bar, and 2 tops. Love this place.
Awful awful awful. I just asked for chocolate in my iced coffee. The poor girl taking our order was trying to be so kind. We were met with this is not the kind of place for that and do you see that on the menu? Really? I guess youre not the kind of place that wants customers either.
Great quiet atmosphere, wonderful staff, and the selection of teas and coffees they have are delicious, although not broad, well thought out. The place still seems a bit dusty from construction, but large open floor plan allows for lots of breathing room. Definitely not your typical PITTSBURGH coffee house.
Great place to get coffee and work. Theres quite a bit of seating actually and the people are really nice. I got a soy cappuccino and really enjoyed it. At some coffee places this drink has a really strong soy flavor, but not here, which I like. The decor and vibe is nothing special but it is cute, clean, and really pleasant.
Great espresso drinks and I highly recommend grabbing a jambon-beurre type sandwich -- its delicious 👌👌Theres well spaced outdoor seating to the left of the shop thats a great place to sit and enjoy your breakfast
Constellation is such a sweet spot in my neighborhood and I’m so grateful they opened their back patio this summer! When the weather was nice it was really great to work there and felt safe during covid. Their drinks and interior decoration are phenomenal. I highly recommend an oat milk latte with maple nut syrup (I think that’s what it’s called), the lil’ bb or a muffin! Amy is great as well and so friendly to talk to ☺️
The crowd seemed inviting and staff members were friendly. Could not recommend the atmosphere more.Menu seemed a little basic (but maybe thats just my sweet tooth talking) and it was a bit more expensive than I expected. Coffee was excellent, though.Totally recommend if you like coffee. If you like sweeter drinks like me, its still worth a try.
My favorite style of coffee is a cortado. I have ordered them from nearly all the popular cafes in the area. Today Constellation just blew my mind. Best Cortado Ive had in 2020!
Have been wanting to try this coffee shop for a while! I was surprised that they had more seating than I expected. There is an additional room in the back of seating. I ended up going with a latte and enjoyed it. Overall, a nice coffee shop with an ample amount of seating. Menu is pretty limited but covers all the basics.
The atmosphere, food and service were excellent.
Always appreciate this neighborhood spot. A welcome addition to the community that makes good coffee with friendly staff in a light, airy space.
Easily in the top 3 as far as consistent, high quality coffee in Pittsburgh. Highly recommended.
Constellation Coffee is consistently incredible with every order. never had a cup there that I didnt sip and think geez this is so freaking good. every time!! haha. thanks yall!!!!!!!
It was cool to see Constellation serving Ceremony Coffee. Ceremony is roasted where I live, in Annapolis, MD, and its GREAT coffee.Store personnel were very friendly and helpful. Its a neat spot and looks like the kind of place I could hang out for a few hours reading and drinking some hot brew.
Lovely shop and friendly staff. Latte is great and it’s served just in the right temperature to enjoy right away. Definitely a good place for some quality time.
The staff here were so friendly and the coffee was great. It was a really calm and relaxing place to sit and sip a coffee, taking a break from the world to get caffeinated and just exist. They also prepared my coffee with great attention to detail and the vibe was overall really chill.
Its hard to find a coffee shop that feels unique in todays world but Constellation certainly does. Everyone who works here has always been super friendly and I love the variety of seating options from a big group table to the bar to little 2 tops. The espresso is always top notch and the milk drinks are great as well.
Best coffee Ive had in Pittsburgh. Lynl is an astounding barista and their selections of coffee and technique are exquisite.
The staff here were so friendly and the coffee was great. It was a really calm and relaxing place to sit and sip a coffee, taking a break from the world to get caffeinated and just exist. They also prepared my coffee with great attention to detail and the vibe was overall really chill.
Absolute best coffee ever! Spectacular attention to quality and detail and sublime service. I couldnt ask for more. Well, maybe I could: I wish that they were open later. Great place!
Great coffee, everyone behind the counter is patient, skilled and always happy to make suggestions and small talk. Also love their board where you can leave a drink credit for folks. A good variety of high quality but not much an extensive menu that it is overwhelming. The place is also super cozy. Great to meet up, relax solo or get some work done.
There is a wonderful atmostphere here. Everyone is friendly and relaxed, the drinks and food are wonderful. Its a great place to sit and chat with someone, start your day, or get some work done while having a coffee. Highly recommend!
This place is solid. The coffee is amazing and the staff is extremely knowledgable without being condescending. The tables in the back provide a lot of work space and I dig the soft music. Great, friendly atmosphere. 10/10
Being from MD I was super excited to find a place serving my hometown coffee Ceremony. Ive gone in a couple times, most being great experiences and having coffee that makes me feel nostalgic and at home. However the last time I went in I was greeted by a guy with long hair being very rude to me and spending a large chunk of the time behind counter talking bad about a bunch of other businesses in the area. I like to go to cafes to get caught up on office work and connect with my neighborhoods community. This cafe made me feel uneasy and estranged from the community. Ill be taking my business elsewhere to a more welcoming place to do my work.
Best coffee shop in town if you are looking for folks who care about your coffee. They brew mostly Ceremony coffee. I enjoy getting a pour over, sitting at the bar and asking some questions about their process while they make the coffee. They are always nice about it and give me tips on how to improve my brew at home :)
This is exactly what I was looking for! They know good coffee here. Coming from Chicago, where theres specialty coffee shops on every corner, I was having a hard time finding anything that could possibly compare, but this place might be in my top 5 coffee shops ever now. Espresso quality - amazing, service - amazing, atmosphere - amazing. Also a variety of pastries :o)
Great coffee! Super friendly staff - met a staff member that used to live in my city - small world and great small talk! My friends and I all had lattes - I suggest the maple! Simple and clean design - cute feature wall shows friends and admirers buying one another coffee or snacks!
Nice little coffee and tea shop with cozy seating and nice minimalist decor. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was very quiet, seemed like a good place to get work done or just relax. We got coffee and tea and bot were fantastic, especially the coffee.
As coffee fiend I try and sample every shop I stumble across, Constellation currently holds the crown for me. Awesome flavorful coffee, mostly light roasts, great atmosphere and staff. The coffee and scone deal is the best in town!
Ive thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Constellation. They serve some of the best coffee in Pittsburgh with Ceremony Coffee Roasters based in Annapolis, MD. Theyve also done a great job with the look and feel of the shop, with many small rounded tables and a back room to sit down and work. There very friendly and know how to run a proper coffee shop!
Ive been going to this cute shop on and off over the past couple years, and it has managed to maintain a good, intriguing environment. Whether youre looking to read a book quietly, chat with a friend, or get some work done, constellation coffee manages to make it possible to do any of these tasks in a laid back environment.
Good coffee, nice quiet environment, but way overpriced for just grabbing a mug of coffee. Id stop by again to try their fancier drinks and tea selection, but i have some doubts about buying a small mug of coffee for 3 dollars. Will be returning to try their other drinks though which look very encouraging.
A favorite place to be productive and enjoy a yummy coffee - pastry game goes fast but they’re yummy!
Great cup of coffee from people who really care about delivering a good product. The staff is friendly and kind. Cant go wrong with this place. Has a plenty of seating and work space.
Okay, Ive had their coffee (or covfefe?), but I also really dig their teas. Minimalistic in design and seating. Not much for full on lunch eating headquarters, but all in all they seem to keep the air conditioning at a pretty good temperature.
Just had the best Mocha Ive ever had. This place is just what I like in a coffee shop. Its quite and simplistic. Incredibly modern and hip . The staff is super friendly
I love unique coffee shop with good atmospheres, and this is certainly that. The décor is cute and inviting, begging you to sit down and enjoy your drink for a while. They also have simple board games such as chess for people looking to relax with family or friends. The coffee is simple but quality, and their tea list looks delicious.
This is the perfect place. Wonderful people, great space, amazing product. The natural light here [even on an overcast day like today] is incredible. The drink I had (cortado) was expertly prepared, and had the exact flavor-profile promised (almond-buttery). LOVE this place.
Great coffee place definitely worth stopping in and checking out!
Really cool small coffee shop. Would never think of how cozy and cool looking the inside would be by looking at it from the outside.Split into two rooms. First area is comfy and chill. Theres a backroom for more privacy for studying or simply solitude.Baristas are knowlegeable and kind. Mine made a recommendation to improve my girlfriends drink.Pretty much an awesome experience. Would love to visit here again.
Great staff and OUTSTANDING coffee selection. Wish I worked from home, because Id be here almost daily. Nice open atmosphere for that.
Constellation without a doubt makes the best coffee in the city! I have visited regularly since I moved to this side of town, and I swear I take everybody I know. The owner is absolutely a delight, and all the baristas she hires are wonderful. The espresso is magic, the drip coffee delicious, and the selection of pastries and treats is always great. The shop itself is gorgeous, clean, and an incredibly comfortable place to work or chat -- and often filled with awesome art! Im so glad to live nearby.
Best coffee in the neighborhood. All the employees are welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend Constellation for a quick drink or a spot to hang out and get some work done.
This is my spot. I work for myself and as we all know, working at home gets a bit tedious after awhile. And while not the closest cafe to my house, its well worth the walk (or drive) for the exceptional experience and outstanding coffee. Cliff and Amy do coffee as well as youll get anywhere in town, and the space is wonderful for a quick visit or for a day of work. Its a well lit beautiful space and very comfortable with giant windows to Penn Avenue. Theres nothing better than watching the snow fall outside while having a drink inside and listening to the great music that is most certainly playing softly in the background.
Got a skim-milk latte there earlier today to go, and forgot to add sweetner like I usually do (it was an unflavored latte) - it was so smooth and tasty, I did not even miss the sweetner! They must use top-notch beans for sure for this! Now Im jonesing for more!
Not a whole lot of selection. The attitude of working in a coffee shop has gotten to some of the employees and they didnt know how to make a macchiato which is altogether not a tough drink to make. The tea was delicious though. It worth going back but not my favorite place to be.
Ive sampled coffee in and around Lawrenceville, but Constellation has become my local haunt. The high ceiling and clean white walls allow natural light to permeate the space, making for a bright, open environment that is great for meeting up with friends or enjoying a book. The coffee, however, is what brings me back. There is precision, but no pretense among the staff when it comes to crafting drinks. I favor the house coffee and a bar of dark chocolate (try the Madagascar 75%), but be sure to sample a pour over as well. Great flavor across the board!
Easily one of my favorite coffee shops in pgh
I really love this place. Today I had a hot mocha & oatmeal cream pie that was AH-MAZING! That was a winning combination. The baristas are very friendly & helpful. My boyfriend & I have gone there a few times & asked coffee related questions (we try to brew at home sometimes), & they were happy to share their knowledge. The atmosphere is quiet & relaxing. It’s a great place to get some work done. I’d definitely recommend this place, & I’m super happy to have such a cool neighborhood coffee shop nearby.
Nice and simple. Good coffee, space to hang out and work/read/create, no unnecessary frills. Service is always nice. I dig this spot.
If youre hunting for That Shop, your search is over. This is a neighborhood staple for Lawrenceville, serving up the finest cup of coffee around. Top notch baristas, pour-overs created with pin-point accuracy, and a great atmosphere for getting stuff done. Enjoy!!
Every time I go they are so friendly. I have had two different drinks and both have been amazing! Cannot wait to try more!
Great espresso coffee. Friendly staff. Parking is a little tricky. Not a massive amount of places to sit either but well worth it in my opinion.
Nice spot for coffee with a knowledgeable barista. Pour over and muffin were both pretty good. Spacious seating area too.
Best cappuccino I’ve ever had! I love visiting Constellation Coffee.
Best coffee I’ve ever had was here and I’ve spent time at some snooty shops in philly. Service is phenomenal- everyone is so kind and helpful.
What can I say? Best shop in PGH. The owners take their coffee seriously but still make it accessible to everyone. If you want to drink coffee thats delicious to a layperson but also interesting to a barista, this is your place. Cozy atmosphere that varies day to day and hour to hour; weekdays are best to relax. The huge front window gets a lot of sun in the winter, great for absorbing rays with a pourover.A real Pittsburgh treasure, and a pillar of the neighborhood.
Great coffee and super eco friendly!
The staff is warm and friendly, Great coffee and pastries in a comfortable environment.
Woah, best pour over Ive had in awhile and Ive been visiting every coffee shop in Pittsburgh this summer. The baristas here are super dialed in and really put in the hard work to make sure every aspect of the coffee is at its best. The customer service is top notch too but in terms of coffee quality this shop is among the best.Edit: They just installed a water filtration system that mimics the mineral content (and hence extraction and taste) of their two roasters. These guys kick ass. Go here.
Ceremony Coffee, super-sweet staff. Humble, quiet; my favorite in the city.
Love coming here on my break to get a latte. The coffee is delicious (better than starbucks) and the staff is super friendly. Love that Im supporting a local business too so if youre in Lawrenceville stop in and try it.
Best pour over coffee in Pittsburgh.
Its okay. Super quiet, probably good if you needed to do work, but other than that kind of sparse.
Friendly baristas, modern decor and indie music sets a perfect tone to get work done or just hang out and have a drink
Delicious coffee and tea, quiet and cozy, and friendly staff!
Very friendly staff in a cool location. Good coffee and food options.
Love this little local coffe joint. Delicious lattes and americanos for a great price and a cozy atmosphere with enough space to chill out or work on your laptop if need be.
