Authentic Italian food made 100% in-house and you can tell the difference. No chain-food here. The wood-fired pizzas and brunch are out of this world. Love their happy hour! We enjoy stopping in and having a drink and appetizer on the patio. Not to mention the staff are all super friendly. The whole place is warm and inviting--a real gem in our neighborhood!
To be honest, I was a little disappointed with this place. Dont get me wrong, the food is decent but its not as hyped as the other reviews would make you think. We got the Fritto Misto and the vegetables were lightly fried and were good but the lemon aioli was really heavy and ruined the lightness of the dish. For our mains, we ordered the tortellini and gnocchi. The broth of the tortellini was really flavorful and had a nice earthy taste from the mushrooms. The tortellini filling was also good but the pasta itself was overly salted which took away from everything else making the dish very unbalanced. The gnocchi was a nice surprise, we ordered it thinking it might be too rich with the gorgonzola fonduta but the balsamic and walnuts helped even it out perfectly. The gnocchi were absolutely delicious. All in all, the place is good not great.
Absolutely amazing! The squid ink pasta dish was wonderful and service is top notch. Reservations are recommended, though we sat at the bar (open seating at the bar). The floating/seasonal menu option was great and well definitely go again.
Everything was actually perfect. Food was AMAZING. and everything came out super hot and timely. This was the best place I’ve been in a long time. I will definitely be back. Phillip was amazing. You have a great staff. Thanks for an awesome experience 😁 drinks were also delicious 🤤
Great food! I loved the Lasagna! Highly recommend!
The food was so fresh and the service was quick. Will be visiting again to try a different dish!
Best Italian food I have ever have and I lived in Italy for 6 months. The pasta is made from scratch. Portion size is large. Price is very reasonable. They have craft beer on tap. They have only been open a few months and I have already been there a bunch of times and even recongized other people that have been there before.
Ok. Heading to Sky Harbor, Google maps said this place was in route. Thank you Google Maps. Food was excellent, staff was awesome. Im picky as a person when it comes to food, very, very impressive food I found here. Nice job guys. Highly recommend. Btw, our server was Micayla, she rocks. For added entertainment, the young guy in the back.. he makes the pizzas, looks like he knows his stuff. Great presentation.
Food was super good. Nice change of pace from what available in this area. We have only done takeout but I know they make all the pasta by hand which is really cool, and you can tell in the taste!
Fantastic Italian restaurant in the Shops at Norterra in North Phoenix. We had dinner at Osteria Mia on a Friday night. The service and food was excellent. We tried a number of items on the menu; all were perfectly prepared and had great flavor. Items we loved included the Mussels, Beet Salad, Pasta alla Angela, and the Chocolate Gelato. Thanks to our awesome server Jason E for his recommendations. Kudos to the Owners for bringing a great restaurant to the area and staffing with a team of excellent folks. We will be back for sure!!
I can say without a doubt this is my new favorite restaurant in Arizona!! I knew I was going to break my almost four-month-long streak of not drinking because their cocktails looked just too amazing not to try. I couldn’t remember the exact ingredients in each dish/drink so I took them from their Instagram page. Beware, if you follow them you will be salivating over all of their posts… I know I have been, you have been forewarned.I started off with the Sofia, which is a cocktail made from brandy, amaro alpine, strawberry puree, and rhubarb and ginger gin. I’ve never had brandy before, so that might be why this drink hit me with a pretty big punch to the face. I can’t say I would order it again because I think I’ve determined I’m not a huge brandy fan, but the other drink…. that one I will have dreams about. This one was called the Marconi, it is made with strega, italicus bergamot, AZ mission vodka, lemon, luxardo cherry and fresh thyme. It was so light and refreshing with a different twist than I’m used to. Honestly, it was a good thing I limit my alcohol intake these days, because I would have definitely had a few without even realizing I was drinking alcohol.Onto the food… we started off with the Arancini, which are risotto balls stuffed with bolognese, mozzarella, and peas. The sauce was delightful and fresh and the balls were deep-fried to perfection! Next, we shared two different pasta meals because we just couldn’t decide on one for ourselves. The tortellini filled with ricotta and parmesan were floating in a beautiful porcini and shiitake mushroom brodo filled with spinach, portobello and cremini mushrooms. I have never had tortellini in a broth, and oh my goodness it did not disappoint! For our second shared entrée, we got Orecchiette with broccolini, tomatoes, sausage lightly bathed in a garlic parmigiana sauce. What I loved about this dish, the flavor snuck up on you. It looks like it would be kind of plain, but it really was the perfect combination of flavors. The sausage was very small pieces that would kind of tuck themselves away into the pasta shell so you would get a little bit of saltiness and garlic with almost every bite.Last but very not least, the cheesecake. Oh my god, the cheesecake! It was a ricotta cheesecake with a pistachio crust, drizzled with fresh lemon curd and sliced strawberries as a garnish. To say it was a slice of pure creamy heaven would be an understatement.I think my favorite part about the whole meal, nothing was heavy! Normally when I eat Italian food it leaves me feeling stuffed and bloated, usually with indigestion to add to it. Everything we had was just so light, it wasn’t smothered in cream sauces or tons of meat piled onto the plate. It truly was pure perfection. I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes, I have a feeling that cheesecake will be calling my name over and over until I give in and order it again.
First visit. Not many people were visiting. I liked the decor and the service was great. They had soy free food for their guests. Id try again but for this visit, the food was just okay. And I found it to be high priced for the portions. I am glad to support a new business in our area.
The food was delicious, and the service was both super friendly and highly attentive! Wonderful dining experience, if a bit on the pricy side!
Awesome! Came with some friends and everything was great. The appetizer, beet salad, and all the pastas were wonderful. We tried a bit from each other and they were great. So glad there is another Italian food place besides Olive Garden here, and it’s even better! Thanks so much and hope this place stays around for many years!
Located next to Harkins theatres it take a little effort to initially find this place. Trust me it is well worth it. Foster took great care of us and I challenge you to try to finish a drink without it being topped off. Table clothes would be a welcome addition but the overall experience is great.
Weve not eaten here about 3 times with the first time my having the Fruiti di Mara and it was one of the best Ive ever eaten, 2nd time they were out of ingredients for it, and the last was the worst Ive ever had. How they can go for the best to worst beats me. The only thing the food had was heat with no flavor, 3 squid rings and clams that didnt open up meaning they were bad. It was very disappointing along with the restaurant being too noisy. The others with me were not impressed as it was their first time there and I had touted the food so most likely will not return. Too bad!
Great food. Good charcuterie board with pickled veggies, which I loved. Wood-fired pizza was also good. Excellent service and a nice location in an outdoor mall with outdoor seating. Tried a mango wheat beer from the brewery next door which was also excellent.
The donuts were so small and tasted old, and very pricey. The floor was so sticky that it felt like your shoe was going to stay if you tried to take a step. The person that was behind the counter muttered in a low voice, not looking at you. Very disappointing experience, will not be returning nor recommending this location.
I ate there tonight, Aug 8th 2021, I asked the server who was very polite and attentive throughout the service, if the chef could make Cacio e Pepe which is on the website menu, but wasnt on the menu at the restaurant. I make it all the time at home and wanted to see what they could do. She left and came back with a yes, the chef can make that for you. Great, time to compare. Well, they sent me out Bucatini Alfredo and tried to pass that off as Cacio e Pepe. There wasnt even more than a sprinkle of pepper on it and almost no parmesan. So, very bummed about that. I was hungry so I ate what they gave me. As an alfredo, is was average. The homemade Buccatini was nice.I asked the server to see how they made it and she told me yes, they made it with alfredo and parmesan. it was bland and not worthy to be on any menu made like that. If you dont know how to make something different, go ahead and tell the guest that. I would have ordered something and hopefully been satisfied as a guest. So, Strike one for this place. Also ordered Cannolis to take home and they filling was very grainy. My daughters Margherita Pizza looked very good though. Other than that, the restaurant was super clean and the servers and managers were on point. The wine selection was nice and not overpriced. I will give them another try and hopefully get different results.
I will give 5 stars to the food and the service here ! Food is good and I hope it stays that way . The bathroom and sanitation needs a little love .I hope the owners look into it.Definitely a must try!
Was expecting a more upscale experience - pricing would point to an upscale all around experience; limited menu, pasta dishes dont include proteins - proteins are additional if you want to order them; waitress did not know what their meatballs were made of; long wait to be served.
The food is excellent here Ive had it many many times. There seems to be a real problem when it comes to placing to go orders and getting anyone to answer the phone for curbside service. Today will be the last day I order takeout. Its 3:40pm and Ive been out here for 20 minutes waiting for my food and I placed my order one hour ago.Mario, I would recommend you just stop offering take out service because it just isnt working. Sorry.
My wife and I absolutely love this place. We cant get enough of their pizza or pasta. Lunch or dinner, you cant go wrong. Super authentic. Weve taken so many couples here and they are all sold now. We do curbside pick up very often as well.
Excellent food and service. One of my top ten places to eat. Fresh made pasta
We enjoyed Osteria Mia.....food and ambience were great....it will be in the rotation for sure!
Great food, great service. We love Italian food and this is one our favorite stops.
It was ok.Not bad, not so good.Just mediocre.
First time here today. Service was great. Pasta and pizza were fantastic.
Amazing asparagus & mushroom risotto, lemon ricotta cheesecake and service. The wine flight was a nice chance to taste several Italian wines. Well have to return for the Muffalito sandwich and the Spinach Noccohi.
We found a new favorite place for pasta! Staff was amazing
Give the pizza a shot. It’s truly amazing.
Edit: i went back and got a pasta dish that was amazing glad I came back for another try.The service was good and I enjoyed the patio. All of the food we got completely lacked flavor, I was disappointed. I got salmon with farro and it had absolutely no flavor, although the salmon did taste fresh. The grilled Caesar unfortunately tasted like ranch. My mom got the caprese pizza which had almost no pesto on it. Overall I think they have the right idea and I’m glad they put this place in Norterra! Was sad that this was the experience I had
Our server, philip, was awesome! Very good service. Food was good too. The muscles were excellent
Their pizzas were absolutely amazing! Theyre all 12 pizzas but the crust is baked to absolute perfection! I tried the caprece(sp?) chicken pizza and my wife tried the Margherita pizza--both were delicious but their Margherita pizza was probably the best Margherita pizza Ive ever tried. We would highly recommend giving it a go if youre down for some great Italian food!
Best food hands down. It’s a shame they are now getting fake negative reviews because of their right to not make people wear a mask. Check out the past reviews to see how they really are. 5 stars all the way!!
Seriously the best pizza and paninis Ive ever had! My new favorite place! Love the environment and servers are very sweet.
Wonderful, delicious Italian food. Pasta is homemade, sauces are fantastic. I will eat there again.
Great service and even better food! Lots of love in this place and it shows. I will be back!
Great suggestions from the server on entree and wine pairing. Fast and efficient service overall. Casual atmosphere, yet high-class food/service.
Great homemade pasta and pizza, always fresh and TASTY.Draft beer for me good wine selection for wifey
Brochettas were definetly good, my brother doesnt like tomatoes but he definitely ate the brochettas. The margherita and diavolo pizza were my favorite. Jalapeno popper pizza was not that great in my opinion I felt like it wasnt as authentic. Overall service was good, the vibe was chill.
We went for a nice evening out on Sunday. We picked osceria because its close to our home in anthem. I ordered the radiatore pasta with short rib. It was cold upon arrival and the meat was very insignificant. The pasta was 18 dollars. I was extremely disappointed and will never go their again.
Dont let all the 5 star reviews fool you. Dont waste your money here. We had the Margarita pizza which was nothing special, just okay and the Carbonara pasta which was salty and plain, quite possibly the worst pasta Ive ever had in life!!
So good and fresh tasting!
Very underwhelming and overpriced. Was excited to try this for the first time and they came up way short. Good news is they offered to partly make up for it. Hesitent for another visit.
Been wanting to try this place out and came for a bridal shower here for my cousin and we stayed on the patio. The food was good and came back next week with my friends and the food was still good!We got the fritto misto and it was really good. And we each got an entree. My friend got the orecchiette and it was spicy. She also got the beets salad which was good too. My friend got the gnocchi also good. I got the tortellini the old way they use to make it creamy now it’s a soup style.Wanna try their pizzas next time cause they have a wood fired pizza oven.
Fantastic food, even better service!I went out to dinner here with my in-laws and my wife recently, and we had a great experience! It’s a new Italian restaurant but definitely not new to quality. Our amazing waiter (Phil) also happened to be from the east coast just like us!We had multiple appetizers, from the ribs the the little delicious dough balls with honey, cheese spread and prosciutto and they were all amazing. All 4 of us had a different dinner entree which all included freshly made pasta right there at the restaurant and not only was the food the bomb, but left you full and satisfied. With great food, also comes a friendly smile and very attentive and fast service. Can’t say enough about how great Phil was! Super nice guy who made you feel at home right from the door, he made the experience just that much better!Keep up the great work! We’ll be back!
They have been open a few months and were full on a Tuesday night. A good sign. We went here with friends because our favorite bartender, Shannon, moved there. Pasta has a really homemade taste. Could use a bit of garnish for color. One pizza was excellent and the other one was very wet, although the flavors were good. Its a bit hard to find, down an alley at Norterra but it is a friendly place once you find it!
This place is freakin delicious!!
Loved the tortellini. Fills ya up
Had a great experience at the bar about two months. New restaurant trying to make it happen in the middle of a pandemic. It has the makings to be success, and the owner is there every day to ensure this. Family owned and operated so please support this group. BTW, it says a lot about a person who submits a bad review on a new restaurant, during a pandemic. You seriously need to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself, should I really submit this review? What you dont understand is that people think you are petty and high maintenance. Just take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard. If you have a problem addressing a negative experience with the restaurant during your visit, then you didnt do your part to help make the situation right. The owners at this establishment have a open door policy and take all experiences seriously.
Great atmosphere, fantastic staff....and food you will enjoy for sure.I sat at the inside bar and could see the outside bar across from me. It was just good looking food being served with plenty of smiling faces.... including mine.Great wine selection 👌
Love this place, my favorite Italian food. Thank you for being face friendly! 💕
I dont do too many reviews but got to give credit where credit is given. Was blown way by the food and service. Chef cooked me up some veal piccata special wrapped in prosciutto never had it like that before freaking awesome. Fresh made pasta felt like was back east. Hit this place..
The food was very good. Homemade pasta was excellent. The basil vinaigrette is out of this world. They could do a little better at increasing the spaces between the tables but they definitely get a thumbs up for effort.
Nice place. Good people. Great food.
Wonderful food awesome staff great atmosphere! Definitely awesome Italian food!
Food is overrated and the owner is a condescending big mouth.
The food was Amazing as well as the service!!The owners are so nice, and our server Heather was awesome. The Margherita Pizza was the best Ive ever had and its very difficult to find Arancini anywhere, and theres was Phenomenal!Well definitely be returning to try more!
We ordered margherita pizza ❤️ and fig & prosciutto pizza ❤️ The most delicious pizzas we have ever had!!! Love the thin crusty pizzas. Cant wait to go back and try new ones😋👍👍. Love the high ceilings and big open space in the restaurant!
I am so pleased that there is a non chain restaurant in Norterra now! We ordered the Lupara based on our servers suggestion and wow can you taste the freshness of the ingredients. We also got a pizza and the crust is just right! Our server was very attentive and answered all of our questions, as we had many. Thank you Shannon and Dani for the excellent service. I highly recommend this place!
Ridiculously good, the gorgonzola cream sauce is basically alfredo turned up to 11, and the aribiatta is a legitimate burner, the antipasto salad was perfect, and the prices were honestly reasonable
OMG! This place has the best pizza!
I have been wanting to try Osteria Mia for months on a recommendation from a friend at work. We picked up take out tonight and it was as good as we had hoped. I had the Lupara without sausage and it was perfect, creamy with a hint of spice from the pepperocino and the mushrooms add the right flavor. Hubby got the braised pork Ragu which was spot on, the pork was very tender and flavorful. My 7 year old loves the basil vinaigrette on the salad, which is saying a lot! We will definitely be back!
Excellent!I Needed a rebound on Italian food after the last place I ate decided to charge $20 a plate for boxed pasta and watery pasta sauce....Osteria Mia hit the grand slam.Freshly made pasta, authentic wine, and solid bruchetta made for one of the best Italian dinners I have ever had.
Everything was so............close.Please understand Im not saying anything was bad, but a number of things were just not quite there. The service was rough, although I think someone seated too many people at our servers spot at one time and he got overwhelmed. Im also not sure they were really following social distancing since the inside was completely full, but eyeballing it tables were close to six feet apart. I guess thats close enough when one of the owners views masks as socialist somehow. Indeed, the inside was at 100% capacity.Im fond of a couple things- fresh pasta, and simple Roman pasta dishes. Naturally, I ordered the cacio e pepe without bothering to read description since its pasta and three ingredients. It tasted good enough, but Im pretty skeptical the bucatini was fresh, since it was quite uniform and smooth. I also didnt see it on the racks in the window.More sad than that, the dish was made with parmesan rather than pecorino, which took away the normally salty bite to the dish and really didnt replace it with anything more compelling. The pizza was decent enough, but there are some better Neapolitan style pies in the vicinity. The bright spot was the arancini, which was very, very good and ample for the price.
Service great and pasta fabulous. Best canoli in town.
Second experience, mgmt some Mexican lady, terrible, rude, didn’t listen to our concerns with the service, waiter hated his life. The food was terrible. Don’t go. Bad customer service and experience
Their food is amazing, especially the brussel sprouts!!!!! We ordered a pasta dish with one modification for curbside pickup and the dish was not how we ordered it. However, I called and Shannon corrected the mistake. Great customer service. Will definitely order again!
Service send fresh pasta is awesome
Excellent menu....real Italian!
Oh my.... First, thank you for your response.. But, please read what we wrote not what you feel 😕 you think was said..We never said the food was bad ... it actually was very good, moms home cooked feel. We also stated The food was good, great service. And it was! Olive Garden was a comparison as to sides not the food quality. 😁 We have removed the comparison fromour review. The points we were making was, no sides were included with the meals ie.. a salad or bread without paying MORE money. Even at home when we have pasta we serve sides with the meal. Funny part is even one of our servers was apologetic about not having at least garlic bread with the meals. We understand the bar per your explanation but, we literally were able to touch the tables next to us on the dinning floor. That is not considered 6ft & while my husband was still sitting at the bar a lady NOT a family member sat right next to him, with her friend with no separation between us & them. We were there on Friday night.Thank you again for your response.Try to remember that these comments are considered constructive criticism and not ment to offend you.Osteria Mia....They were definitely NOT covid compliant. No 6ft compliance at bar or table seating. We could have reached out and touched one of the tables next to us. Also at the bar no separation between any of the seats.. The food was good, great service once they decided who our waitress was. Waited almost 20 min before we finally asked who was waiting on our table.. We felt it was a little $$$ expensive for what you get. We had 3 mixed drinks. Appetizers: Muscles $13, 8 small meatballs $13, 1 whole artichoke $9 (small, not meaty). Dinner: Lasagna $16, & Lupara $17, the meals do not come with anything so we ordered warm bread $2.50 8 slices, small loaf & a side salad $5. So that made one of our meals approximately $24 + drinks. Dessert: Chocolate chip cannoli $4.Weve had good food at similar restaurants & at least get a side with our meals.
Great food with a few of my favorites along with excellent service. We will be going back!!!
We had everything from drinks to dessert and every thing we had was amazing. The service was also just as great. We will for sure be regulars.
I heard about the opening of this restaurant from a Norterra shop email. We went there this past Friday night. It was busy so we decided to site outside. Peter was our server and he was amazing, very nice and attentive. We laughed with him all night. The food is amazing. So, creamy and flavorful. you knew it was all freshly made. We ordered their Muscles and pasta. The beer (Brewery 48) IPA and mixed drinks were also amazing. We will be making visits to this place regularly!
Absolutely delicious! You must try the Tortellini! Service was friendly and knowledgeable. We will return. 😊
Hands down, the best margherita pizza I’ve ever had. Delicious- and the ranch dressing is heavenly as well. My picky kids loved their cheese pizza. We are so happy to have a new place to get great food!
Had dinner there last night and it was absolutely perfect. We had the bruschetta board, the Lupara pasta and the squid ink pasta. For dessert we had the creme brûlée. Everything was phenomenal, including the atmosphere and service. So happy to have this little gem in our neighborhood.
We had a great First evening last night, meeting many staff members. We had a couple cocktails then got a order to go. Pepperoni Pizza, & I got a Gnocchi dish....both totally awesome! I already know what Im having next visit.
Went last night to Osteria Mia’s and was absolutely blown away! My wife and I travel a lot, or we used to before the pandemic... We eat out all over this country and live here in North Phoenix, so we are very experienced eating out! This place is world class! My wife and I hesitate to write this review because we want to be able to get in again and experience the amazing food, wine and hospitality before this place is over run with guests! Kayla, you and your team are rock stars! Congratulations on your success and enjoy the rewards coming your way!
Visited last night, waited nearly two hours for a table which is expected when the restaurant has to adhere to the social distancing guidelines. Bar service was great, good beer and wine offered. Sat down at our table, waiter was great. We asked him which pizza he recommended, he then told us that pizza was off the menu for that night. Okay so that is half their menu gone and we didn’t even find out until we sat down. Should have been notified when we asked for a table. We order an app, the pizza balls. We got them raw,, sent them back and next batch we got were way over cooked and rock hard.We ordered bruschetta and three types of pasta to share between our table.Bruschetta came without arugula on top, waiter realized once he put it on the table. It was not impressive quality, and small portions. One of the pasta dishes was raw, pasta was hard and extremely under cooked.Pasta portions were extremely small for the price. When we mentioned to the manager about our problems she basically said “well no one else has had these issues”. Well great for everyone else, but we did have those issues and it was kind brushed off, we told them we would not be paying for the pasta, which we did not eatVery poor experience will not be going back.
There actually aren’t enough poor words for this place. Waited over two full hours for our food, restaurant was fully staffed but only partially open and not busy. My food was freezing cold to the touch. Pasta sauce tastes like spaghettio’s. After waiting so long, being served cold food we were not even apologized to or offered a discount. This place won’t last long, we were so excited to try and wasted nearly three hours here. They also entice people to write good reviews with free food so take all of that with a grain of salt. Fingers are crossed we don’t get food poisoning.
Wonderful as always
The first time we had Osteria Mia was shortly after they opened and offered take out. The pizza and homemade pasta was delicious! Last night we dined inside the restaurant for the first time. We both enjoyed a really great glass of wine. The Arancini was enjoyable as was the bruschetta and the crab pasta special. If youre looking for a non-chain, homemade dinner, you cant go wrong with this place.
Newly opened and the staff has yet to learn the menu items. The bar does not stock common drink alcohols and mixers. We sent back the Long Island Iced Teas which contained far too much of something tart. The food was ok but not exceptional.. The Pasta Primavera didnt have much flavor nor did the meatballs. Unusual pizza creations were pretty good. We tried the spinach dip pizza which was tasty. Cant really recommend this one.
Great service and love the food.
Great tasting food and fast service! We have been eagerly waiting for a non chain restaurant to open in the area for a very long time! They have happy hour specials too. We will be back soon.
I have been to Some great Pasta Restaurants I was overly impressed at the quality of the pasta dishes hands down 5 Star!! Also I though a great value price wise!! 2 x a month place for us!!
Great food and service! The Norterra area has been plagued with sub-par chain restaurants for too long. So glad to see a unique, quality restaurant in the area. I am definitely going to be a regular at this place.
We had an amazing pizza, mussels and a yummy artichoke. All were outstanding! First day of dine in service, went well for us. Once all the Covid restrictions are lifted I’m sure this place will be hard to get into, check it out now during thier soft opening, you won’t be disappointed!
Place was very dark lights are broken. brady didnt get us food quick enough. kids menu wasnt interactive and had no crayons
Great food - good service - I will be coming here for brunch often !
The artichoke didnt disapoint Phil was correct and the pasta special was amazing. Phil was spot on the service was great. We had been doing take out till now but will be back again. Will ask for him next time.
