Andrew worked on both electric and acoustic guitars for me. He demonstrated being extremely competent in both areas. As a professional musician I have high expectations and Andrew delivered. The work performed required a high level of expertise. I would recommend Phoenix Fret Works to anyone looking for fretted instrument repair. Oh, and i found his pricing to be very fair as well.

No need to look anywhere else, this is your guy for any of your guitar maintenance/ repair needs. I recently took in a new 7-string Ibanez for an initial setup with heavier strings for drop tuning, as well as my parlor-style acoustic for a setup and fret end dressing. Super happy with his work- he is genuinely a nice guy that has obvious passion for his craft. Oh yeah, he is actually responsive, does what he says hes going to do, and had my guitars done earlier than expected. He has restored some of my faith in humanity. Thanks, Andrew!

This man did a fret level, crown, and polish done on my Schecter C-1 hellraiser. He had it playing smoother than silk. Plays better than when I got it brand new. Highly recommend for any professional guitar work you need done.

Brought my acoustic guitar in for bridge removal and repair after it had warped. Andrew made quick work of it and went above and beyond in the repair as well as polishing the guitar, lowering the neck, restringing and more. An amazing deal and very fast to communicate along the process. If you are in need of any repairs for your guitar, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

I cant say enough about what an incredible job Andrew did fixing my guitar. I made the mistake of letting my acoustic get too dehydrated, and the seam started to split up the back. Andrew was able to get it rehydrated, close the seam, and redo the finish in such a way you would never know there had been an issue unless you took a microscope to the seam. He kept me in the loop throughout the process, and spent time to explain my options. He was also very considerate of my budget. He even put new strings on for me and gave me tips on how to better hydrate my instrument moving forward. I would highly recommend bringing your guitar to Andrew; his passion for his work is apparent.

After finally pulling the trigger on buying my dream guitar, I knew I had to find someone who knew more about this guitar than the average luthier. Due to its unique structure, I had to find someone who knew the guitar inside and out. The more I googled for local gypsy guitar repairmen, the more I saw Andrews name so I had to contact him. I could tell, Andrew knew this guitar the moment he looked at it. He explained why the guitar was buzzing and not playing the way I hoped it would. He pointed out a few weird modifications that the previous owner had made that I didnt notice. A week later, he called to let me know it was ready to be picked up with a new handmade bridge, nut, and setup. I knew I went to the right guy when I picked it up and it started playing the way I hoped it would. I couldnt have been more stoked on this guitar after Andrew worked on it. Im definitely going back to him for more setups in the future. I highly recommend his work.

Andrew did an outstanding job lowering the action on my Kremona classical guitar, which is now so much more playable than before. He is a fine craftsman who obviously enjoys his work and charges very reasonable prices. Turnaround time was great: my guitar was ready the next day. Before I left, he gave me advice on humidifying my case and guitar to protect it in the arid Phoenix environment. On top of all that, hes a really nice guy. The whole experience was very positive.

He is also an amazing luthier creating absolutely high quality custom guitars. A true craftsman of his trade who does affordable and quality work, Andrew will be my go to guitar repair source. I most definitely would recommend.

Just had a soundgear SR1200, bird eye maple, 4 string, neck through bass worked on here. It was crackling bad and needed some other work done. The input pot needed to be replaced, set up and he went through all the electronics and fixed quite Few bad soldiers. Bass sounds phenomenal again!! As long as this place is in business, I wont take my instruments anywhere else. Top notch work and super friendly. Would highly recommend.

I recently purchased a used 2011 Martin HD28 and felt the action was a little too high. I took the guitar to Andrew immediately as I knew he would treat me and the guitar with an unmatched level of respect and care. I stopped by his shop unannounced, which was not cool on my end, and not only did he see me, he spent 30 minutes with me and never made me feel like I was bothering him. He called me back the next day and told me all that was needed was a slight truss rod adjustment. Upon picking up the guitar, we chatted about other mods and options that might be necessary down the road. I’ve interacted with a handful of luthiers and guitar techs in Phoenix and none of them match the level of knowledge and passion for delivering great service as Andrew. If you are looking for a luthier/tech who will shoot you straight, honor your time with his undivided attention and presence, and treat you with respect, Andrew at Phoenix Fret Works is your solution. Thanks, Andrew!

After over 8-years of play steady gigs, my Sadowsky 5-string bass guitar was in need of fret work. Being relatively new to the Phoenix area, I was extremely reluctant to entrust my guitar to just anyone. I began my search for a luthier with the expertise and reputation to work on my prized instrument. After doing a whole lot of research, I came upon Phoenix Fret Works. I contacted Andrew and we discussed refretting my bass (that is what I thought was needed). After setting up an appointment, I met with Andrew and he examined the guitar, took some measurements of the existing frets discussed my playing style. To my surprise, Andrew said that given the condition of the frets, he would not recommend refretting and would instead crown and level the frets. While I pushed back in favor of refretting, Andrew assured me that I would love the results of crowing and leveling. As a result of Andrew’s masterful work on the frets and his expert setup, my bass is playing better than ever. I would highly recommend Phoenix Fret Works to anyone with a concern over their beloved instrument. With his professional demeanor and expert work Andrew has earned all of my future business.
