South street coins was a great experience. The owner was a great guy, his coins and currency were very nice, and it felt extremely secure. We traveled from Myrtle Beach, with this place as a planned stop and we were not disappointed. Cant wait to come back!

It would be nice if your store hours were accurate on here, I just spent 40+ minutes walking to check this place out, since it says you’re open Saturdays until 7. I get there to see that you’re not even open at all today, that’s so frustrating.

It was my first time trading coins ever, but Guy was super respectful and helped me out along the way. I wasnt able to do much selling the currency I had brought to him, but he also explained why and how things happened the way it did. Overall, Id come back if I know if I can land a type of deal.

The owner Matt knows his stuff probably better than anyone youll ever encounter and he prices everything totally fairly. No funny business, no time wasting, straight shooter. If someone who knows very little comes in, hes very patient with them and answers their questions professionally and in a friendly manner. Hes personable and always has cool stuff at his shop. I highly recommend going here whether youre looking to sell or buy a small or large amount -- bullion, numismatics, whatever.

My job keeps me on the road all day so i am able to visit different coin shops daily. I must say... Hands down that this is 1 of the best coin shops in or around Philly.. Always a great experience

You will not get a fair offer on coins, bullion or jewelry in 99% of stores but Matt will be completely honest in his exchanges. Matt was extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, and helpful. I thought because of the South Street location Matt would be expensive but I was absolutely wrong. I purchased a gold coin at a great price. I am a customer for life.Thanks Matt.

Matt is THE BEST in town seriously, you will not find a more honest person in this type of industry. I have been to at least 20 other coin/jewelry shops downtown and no one is as fair as these guys! If you have something to sell TAKE IT HERE! Oh and whoever said they buy low and sell high thats BS because they only charge a couple dollars over/under spot! I have bought and sold here but would NEVER go anywhere else again to sell any silver or gold.

I want all the hard working and honest people of Philadelphia to know what a scumbag Matt really is. My niece stole my jewelry. Matt purchased the the jewelry without taking a photo id from her. She admitted stealing the gold and taking it to the coin shop. i went to his shop after filing a police report and tried to get my jewelry back from him. Matt lied to my face and said he never bought it off her. I showed him her picture and a picture of the the necklace and crucifix on my sons neck. Until i get my jewelry or the money i paid for it back. I will make a mission to file charges against Matt and the South Street Coin And Jewelry Exchange Shop. I want this scumbag Matt out of business.. So in my eyes Matt is very dishonest and he doesnt follow the rules.

Stopped by for the first time Tuesday after work and was very happy with the acquisition. Matt was honest and friendly. He charged a fair premium for the silver. Recommended.

Its unfortunate that a negative review from three years ago by Mary Kane is one of the reviews that pops up first. Matt is the furthest thing from a scumbag and I personally have had nothing but informed business transactions at South Philly Coin. Matt has never been anything but the best example of what a coin dealer and or a purchaser of Gold and Silver should be like, by far the best prices paid and best Quality products on the market. Mary Kane, I am sorry to hear of your drug addicted Neice and hope and pray that she has found the help she needed to survive this deadly disease, you might want to consider the fact that she was dishonest with all parties involved because there is one thing I know for sure Matt would never be dishonest about such a small business transaction or large for that matter, he has enough coinage, gold and silver to walk away right now and live the rest of his days on an island somewhere. He is a man of honor and integrity and thats that.
