Such a cool little book shop. They are quite literally Wall-to-Wall filled with books.Still maintains the old house layout, but now each room is filled with shelves upon shelves of books. Walking up the book lined stairs to the second floor is a real treat. Prices seemed reasonable and there was an enormous and diverse collection of literature.

Shopping here is an adventure! Definitely give yourself at least an hour to browse the beautiful maze of books stacked high. The staff (owner?) is so kind and helpful. I only wish there was a romance section. Aside from that, this place is incredible. Great place to find gifts too!

Nice shop, but would have been nice to know that I would have to provide full name, email, and phone number as part of their contact tracing program before leaving. I understand the idea and intent, but caught me off guard. Should inform people of that before entering the shop.

A fabulous bookstore with layers and layers of books. The books are organized well in one way, but youll find books upon books throughout the store in logical configurations that may not make sense immediately. You could spend hours, days, browsing here. I thought the prices were fair, especially for some of the rarer books I found.

I’m hesitant to share about this place because it’s so packed with books, if it gets crowded with people, I’m not sure how we will all fit in there! This is one my family’s favorite spots in Philly. We love to browse the many floor to ceiling stacks, search for a new world to explore or story to hear. The owners do an amazing job of curating high quality and very interesting books. I imagine they want people to get caught up in their love for exploration and learning. My advice. Come here to discover something new rather than looking for something specific. Give yourself an hour to slow down in the stacks. And buy something that intrigues you.

I cannot emphasize how wonderful this place is. Debbie and her co-owner are so friendly and helpful. The architecture and inside are amazing. The selection is phenomenal and carry unusual or hard to find genres and topics. Walk in with 10 bucks and some curiosity and walk out with new book along with some relaxation.

There were sooo many books! Like a lot, in every nook and cranny of the store. My team and I had a photo shoot there, the ow er was pleasant. While it definitely has an antique feel, I wouldnt go there with a specific book in mind, more if an explore genres kind of store.

Such an incredible book heaven. Easy to find specific genres, I managed to leave with three new books. Definitely textbook-heavy, but the literature is all carefully selected and diverse.

Fantastic. Rare books all over the place in what might be a mess, but the owner 100% knows every book in the shop, and so can always be relied upon to know if what youre looking for is there. Personally, though, I prefer to just browse the extensive collections of books you just wont find most other places.

Hands down, the best bookstore for bookworms in the greater Philadelphia area. This is not for someone looking for a copy of Twilight. You want a book of German folktales with translations? This is your new home. I will be returning with family in tow, often.

Always been a great book store and continues to be so. One of the few independent bookstores left in Philly. I have not had a bad experience there since I began going in 1988. Wide selection of theory, culture, history, literature. I know the owner and she has always been helpful to me.

Beautiful building, extensive collection, and such nice people! It feels magical wandering around the labyrinths of bookshelves that reach from floor to ceiling. And they have a solid 10-story bookshelf of feminist and gender studies books. Amazing!

I dont know why people are so down on the staff. They are always very relaxed and friendly to me (Im more inclined to blame stuck-up UPenn folk). Overall this bookshops is amazing, it is wall-to-wall books. The selection is very nice for someone into theory, particularly feminist and critical theory. Its got all the top hits. This is one of my go-to places to wander.
