Frenchie (the owner) is so knowledgeable about hair! Not only did she give me a KILLER haircut, but she also gave my a lot of haircare tips. I will definitely be going back. For real, I got the best haircut of my life at Vyce!

I could not recommend this Hair Vyce Studio enough! For my first appointment, I arrived with extremely damaged hair due to my attempt at cutting it myself for 2+ years. Frenchie not only gave me a proper haircut, but actually took the time to teach me some techniques for properly caring for my hair. The Ouidad products that she recommended work wonders for my hair, and I love it!The salon also has a great atmosphere. They make sure to clean stations in between customers. Every time Ive had an appointment, I have had consistent, high-quality service. Very friendly, and reasonably priced.

Loved my first experience at Hair Vyce! Everyone was very professional, friendly, and wearing mask. They sanitized the chairs before and after each person. If I had any questions about products, my hair, or pricing, they were more than happy to answer and give great advice. I was excited to hear that they do natural hairstyles, press and curls, and protective styles. As a new person to Philly, this will now be my go to salon!

I had a job interview pop up and Frenchie got me in for a last minute hair cut. She always does a great job, and makes me feel so seen as a person--I showed her the haircut I wanted, and she made it fit me. A really comfortable salon with a community feeling. Would definitely recommend them!

I love getting my hair cut at Hair Vyce. Frenchie is absolutely amazing. She is so good at what she does, and she is incredibly kind as well. I always leave feeling beautiful, and my hair always looks fantastic. I never got as many compliments on my hair as I did once I started coming to this salon. Everyone who works here is so friendly, Ive only ever had great experiences here. I cant say enough good things about this place. Their covid protocol is very good as well, and I always feel safe getting a cut done here.

Everyone here was really great and friendly nothing bad to say about the workers, but the price is just confusing. Online highlights say 109 and up and I ended up paying 270 dollars for highlights and a trim, little things like charging me for a blowout when I didn’t even ask for my hair blowdried,(as a hair dresser you have to as if you want you hair blown out this way it’s ok to put it on the bill) it’s tough times right now not eveyone has an extra 30 dollars to pay for all that. My hair does look just okay, just won’t be returning when I get get the same service for 100 dollars less. I paid everything without a fuss and still left 20% tip but I won’t be returning, just feel ripped off and I was in there for 5 hours...don’t even notice much of a difference with my hair honestly. With tip it was 340 dollars..I’ve been to really high end salons and never even paid that much. So I will not be returning. They are super friendly and non judgmental for the price your paying go to a high end salon, or a regular salon and save over 100 dollars!

Had 10 Am appointment on Sept 4th asked for a short hair cut got a uneven hair cut. First time i came got a perfect cut .I am not happy with this cut>My neighbor recommended this place I am 33 yeas teacher and I know when a person is just starting out .. I left with a uneven haircut.i know hairdressers have specific people that come to the shop but you give the person that comes once a year a newbe hairdresser does not even have the materials to do hair.. i am going someplace else

Hair Vyce is by leaps and bounds the best hair salon I’ve ever frequented. I was seen promptly on short notice. My hair is very fine and curly and has suffered a litany of styling and product disasters. By the time of my appointment, it had grown into what I joking referred to as the Quarantine Triangle. Frenchie concurred, remarking that I had no layers as she prepared my tresses for a dry cut. After she was done, I had lost about an inch, which I initially bemoaned, but given how split, sun-bleached, and dried the ends were, that length was unsalvageable. Instead, she worked miracles on the shape and every time I’ve looked in the mirror the week since, I’ve appreciated the cut more and more. I will definitely return for regular trims in the future.

This is an aesthetically pleasing hair studio, but it would be much better if the owner could control her gift of gab and unwanted advice... She comes off with a rude, arrogant, and unwelcoming energy at times. Asked about my personal life a few times and offered advice and judgement that I did not ask for (you dont know me like that). Raised the price for my cut/trim twice without informing me beforehand or via auto-text/auto-email/call (whichever form of communication is preferred) and sometimes tries to give a cut without shampooing for the SAME price (and it aint cheap). The icing on the cake was that the most recent time she had me waiting about an hour past my scheduled time and then my hair was not even properly faded (didnt entirely notice until I got home and looked closer, but the fact remains...); side of my head looking like a level out of Mario Bros...A big pro however is that she is knowledgeable about hair, hair care, and can do some good hairdos (dont know about cuts/trims). Not to mention the most polite assistants and black-owned.

She won’t steer you wrong when seeking advice. She won’t put dyes, relaxers, or other chemicals in your hair just because you want them. She will take her time to educate you about the affects those products will have on your hair. The salon has a great atmosphere with a lot of down to earth people.

I was searching for a natural hair salon. After reading such wonderful reviews on Yelp I was hoping I found that at Vyce Hair Studio. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with complete disgust. I felt unwelcome and as if the owner was repulsed by me. She was by far the rudest, most impolite and arrogant individual I’ve ever met in my entire life.I requested a bun and that was communicated when I scheduled the appointment. If there was an issue, it should’ve been mentioned when I scheduled the appointment. I left so upset that I immediately called the salon to voice my dissatisfaction with the service. Again, the owner was arrogant and spoke to me in a condescending tone. I will NEVER patronize this salon ever. As I said to her when I called I apologize if I didn’t fit into the usual clientele that she serviced. A customer service course would really be beneficial to you. NEVER and I mean EVER again. Also, my hair looks HORRIBLE.

Hair Vyce is THE place; I finally found someone who REALLY KNEW and understood curly hair. Frenchie is my angel...she has knowledge, skills, and ways to make me feel happy that I have curly hair. When she talks to me about my hair, I know she knows what shes talking about because other clients hair always looks fabulous, she and has really studied techniques for all kinds of curly hair. She takes her time cutting my hair and treats it like a jigsaw puzzle that she is seeing for the first time. I leave there smiling every time. Frenchie is the REAL deal!

Ive been going about every 6 weeks since soon after they opened, 5 or 6 years ago. Very pleased. Multi-racial clientele, unusual often in a hair cuttery. LGBTQ warmly welcoming salon. Pleasant atmosphere, always water, snacks, wheelchair accessible and right on the 34 trolley and 64 bus. Appropriate pricing too. Frenchie is someone who takes care of her clients and her community. Appointments and walk-ins, although she can get quite busy. Closed Wednesday, every other Sunday. I wish her many years of success.

I thought about it over and over in my head and just had to give a review. (Normally dont give reviews but this time I believe it was a must)!. So I went to this shop HairVyce and the head stylist/owner did my hair. She was the rudest stylist I have ever encountered in my life. I asked a simple question to her about my hair. She totally ignored my question and went on doing my hair. In my head Im thinking hmm maybe she didnt hear me so I asked her again then she got this huge attitude with me. It really was not warranted! (I asked in a nice tone)My whole thing if I didnt need a specific product dont ignore me! Inform me first so I can understand more about haircare! I work in customer service and honestly what I received was not good or even decent customer service at all! After I left I felt so angry at the fact that how bad i was treated in the salon. Now I see there are other posts that have great experiences and I think that is awesome. However I received horrible customer service from the owner/stylist and i didnt deserve to be treated like that! I give respect and I expect the same in return!

Hi y’all!! This place is amazing!! Seriously. I’ve been here 3 times. Each time, I needed to come. Being a transplant to Philadelphia, it’s been tough finding a salon that does African American hair (both natural and relaxed), and one that truly embodies and caters to creating and maintaining healthy hair. Frenchie is that stylist and Hair Vyce is the place! It’s also great as a woman of color to come to a business that is owned by another woman of color. HV’s clientale ranges from African diaspora clients to European clienta and all in between. This speaks to Frenchie’s skills as a stylist and understanding hair, hair texture, and overall health. She works with clients like me who haven’t figured out if they want natural hair or relaxed, clients who are on cancer manedication, and those at any stage of their hair journey and life cycle. While you don’t know me, I hope you can trust the words of a very critical, daughter of a cosmetologist instructor at a beauty college and stylist. I’m as honest as they come, hence my need for this long post. If it’s a cut, color, style, all of the above or more, Frenchie and Hair Vyce Studio is your place. Come once! FAB-U-LOUS!!!!! I visited Frenchie to get a hair cut and start my no heat, natural hair journey. I was sick-to-my-stomach nervous because Ive never had short hair. But the cut and style Frenchie gave me is so fierce, I literally get stopped in the street. I am absolutely in love with my cut. Frenchie gave me a consultation a few days before my appt and answered all my questions. When it was time for the cut, she made sure I was comfortable and then commenced to cutting. After the cut and style, Frenchie explained how easy it would be to maintain my wash and go, and I was able to purchase the products she used on my hair right at the salon. Its never been so easy for me to do my hair.Frenchie is an excellent stylist with a wonderful salon and staff. If youre natural or even if youre not, you should definitely visit Frenchie at Hair Vyce Studio. You will be so pleased, and people will be stopping you in your tracks, just like they do me!!!
