I have gone here for a long long time and its always been amazing. However, recently they changed to only online ordering. That means you cannot call by phone to place any orders.Ever since this change I have never received the correct order. There are very specific options online to specify your order and it is always ignored. I think after this order I am done going here for breakfast for a while until phone lines open back up so I can be sure I dont have to drive all the way home just to realize I cannot eat the food I paid for
Disappointed! Personally I enjoy soft light fluffy bagels the bagels here are really dense and SMALL I posted a picture next to a Roku remote for reference !! Unfortunately they don’t taste FRESH. Considering the price we paid I don’t think we will be returning here. On a positive note the fresh OJ and spicy sauce they use were very delicious.
I dont know who these people are who are calling this the best bagel they ever had, because its truly one of the worst Ive ever had. My rock-hard cinnamon raisin bagel felt and tasted like it was two days old. It was not toasted, nor was it even remotely warm. One star for the bagel, but at least the service was nice and timely. I just dont get the hype at all.
I would go to war for this place. At first, I was thrown off by the slightly nontraditional style - its not a New York bagel. Its something so much better. A crispier crust with a malty flavor, a heartier center, intense seasoning coverage. My monthly budget has a new category labeled bagels and Tue/Wed when theyre closed are my least favorite days of the week
This spot is next-level good. Create your dream bagel here that tastes like perfection. Be prepared to wait a bit because its a hot spot but damn, this place reinvents what deliciousness can go inside a bagel!
Worst bagel I have ever had in my life my jaw actually hurt after attempting to eat it. Ended up throwing our bagels out because they were impossible to eat. You have to specify to have them toasted on the mobile app, which is fine but you should still be able to ACTAULLY eat an untoasted bagel. Huge waste of time and money.
This was my boyfriend and Is first time trying this place and we were very disappointed. The bagels were so hard that our jaws started to hurt. We went to the Fishtown location. Definitely will not be going back.
Extraordinary bagels coming out of this little corner spot, best in the city imo. I can’t eat a bagel anywhere else without thinking about Philly Style, it’s simply a 1/1 experience. These bagels hit different. To everyone leaving the “bagels too hard” reviews - the truth is....you are too soft.Note: they are Take-out only right now and you must call ahead! Hours are “7am until we sell out” bc they always sell out before closing. If you want options, earlier the better. I check their Instagram story for updates:)Staff is 10/10. Woman on the phone is always so nice and personable. She takes my name first and always ends with “thanks Reid”. Dude at the window/register with the glasses is a vibe and manages to pour the perfect cream/coffee ratio every damn time! I love you for that bro🙏 Bagels and sandwiches are flawless every time thanks to the consistency of the kitchen crew.I don’t usually write long reviews like this, had to express my love for Philly Style in this one♥️
Avoid this place at all costs unless you want a rock hard, untoasted bagel. Ordered bagels through online pickup. Bagel order was never called at the window. When asked for our bagels they gave us untoasted bagels. When asked to be toasted they said “I don’t know what to do.” And gave them back. Waste of time and money.
Pretty good bagel but the ordering process wasn’t organized. It was a longer wait than expected after ordering ahead and payment was only accepted via Venmo.
It’s weird to think of a bagel as “light” (and it’s still a relative term on the bagel curve) but Philly Style Bagels manages to do it and be incredibly satisfying. The exteriors are perfectly crisp with a great chew. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
I’ve previously given this place multiple 5 star reviews on my other gmail accounts but the last month has been really disappointing. I’m aware the turnover at this place is pretty fast since I’ve had a few friends work here, so maybe there are a bunch of new people learning to make bagels? My partner and I get PSB every Sunday since we moved into the neighborhood 2 years ago. 3 weeks ago my bagels were the size of a mini slider, last week my lox spread cream cheese was a tub of plain cream cheese with no pieces of salmon whatsoever, and the half dozen bagels I bought were rocks the following day. This morning my bagel was burnt and rock solid, got a lox bagel that came with NO cream cheese (why?) and it also tastes like the lox is a cheaper quality. I’ve tried to call but there’s never a manager or a shift leader in apparently, or they say they’re too busy for calls and to place an order online. I hate leaving bad reviews but it seems like there’s no one working here to talk too.
Bagel was rock hard, honestly thought I accidentally dropped my bagel in gravel because it felt like I was eating a rock. One star given as a bonus because it reminded me to go to the dentist soon. You shouldn’t have to toast a bagel to be able to eat it.
Bagels are great but holy cow, super unorganized. Even if you order ahead online, plan on waiting another 20+ minutes once you arrive. Employees seem super overwhelmed and confused, customers dont know whats going on and everyone just stands outside in a huge line for pickup. Hopefully they figure out a better system. (Ive been here twice and it was the same experience both times, so I won’t be coming back for a while.)
Probably the best bagel I have had in Philly.
Bagel sandwich and the lemonade are super tasty. Their online ordering is problematic but the staff was very nice resolving the issue.
Overall quality of the bagel was fine, but I didnt exactly enjoy my experience. Coffee was some of the worst Ive had in Philly. There was a general dearth of options available including basic staples that one would expect.Got an egg and cheese and it was generally bland and luke warm and the avacado I got on it was all over the place except where it was supposed to be.Great surrounding environment is the best thing about the place.Probably best to try elsewhere.
They make such good begals Id eat a sock if it was in one
I was here twice and they serve good bagels, sandwiches and coffee . I had good breakfast experience here and would recommend it .
Insane wait even when you order in advance for pick up. Still waiting 15 minutes after arriving having been notified my order is ready. Bagels, however, are superb.
The best blueberry bagel I have ever had!
Chances are, there’s a line out the door. That’s normal as the inside is super small and they’re only open until they sell out, which is usually way before closing time. Grab an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and walk around Fishtown or sit in Palmer Park. Parking is extremely hard to find so I’d recommend walking if possible.
Beer boiled and fired in a giant oven. Theres a reason why their lox sandwich was declared the best new sandwich in America by Bon Appetit. The bagels are so crisp, with each variety having its own distinct flavor. The cream cheese is also just right. Come early because they do run out almost every day. During the morning rush get there before 11.
So happy they had vegan options!
I can’t even count how many times I have eaten Philly style bagels! My partner Harrison and I both absolutely love their bagels. I can’t even eat any other bagel now besides theirs because they are just so good! I always get their BOA sandwich on an everything bagel. I love their jalapeño cream cheese too! I’m not sure who their coffee roaster is but I absolutely love the iced coffee as well. Even during the pandemic they have adjusted well and had great customer service every single time I’ve gotten from them (which is a lot lol). We just moved a little further away from them but we will most definitely still be coming back to Fishtown for their bagels
They got the best bagels in PhiladelphiaGive a try to this place you wont regret! I really liked the people there it looks like they really care about the place I appreciate it!
Can we just take a moment of silence for the cinnamon raisin bagel with vegan butter? It’s both a blessing and a curse that I live a block away
I am from outside of NYC so these are not North Jersey/New York style bagels. They are smaller and have a harder outside which is thicker then the ones I am use to with my childhood. I would say boiled or baked longer maybe? That being said they are a great Philadelphia style bagel. They are generous with cream cheese both sides smeared. I always have to ask for smear on both side elsewhere!!! I also love the everything seasoning on both sides that is something NYC/NJ can learn because I eat open faced. The staff was nice and fast. Great place to try .. the price is a little higher than expected but the age I the city a bakers dozen were $19.. which I guess is fine when you are the only decent game in town.
I want to like this place but I cant with them anymore. No walk-ups, they never answer the phone, you cant place an order online unless thru caviar and Im not paying $30 for two small bagel sandwiches to be delivered when I live around the corner. SOMEONE for the love of God open another bagel shop in fishtown. I CANT WITH THEM ANYMORE PEOPLE, I CANTTTT...
Worst bagel/ Over-priced/cold/ hard. So hard I feel like it’s a tooth risk, especially for elderly. Classist covid paying system. Yuppi. No toaster
No single serving hot coffee ???
Somehow these people managed to turn something simple, like buying a bagel, into a big hassle. You must order by phone and then pay through an app. Think about the clientele demographics they are selectively denying service to.Your being small does not excuse yourselves from bad business behavior in our community.
There was zero acknowledgement when we arrived. The fact that you have to order online and wait for over 15 minutes is ridiculous. Very non-inclisive and entitled. Not everyone has a phone to place an order
Customer service extremely friendly, service super fast, food products high quality. Give them a try! I use Caviar delivery for fast service 😎
Great service, awesome bagels
Bagels are amazing. Prices are okay, not crazy, but not cheap.THEY DO NOT TOAST YOUR BAGELS. They should still be crispy from the oven.Would give them five stars, but I have seen lines out the door. And their assembly-line process for getting customers out the door when busy, is easy motivation for me to get Dunkin instead.
I am grateful to be able to call this our neighborhood bagel shop! We go there almost every weekend for a tuna and whitefish bagel sandwich treat. Not too many places will leave you with such an great impression, let alone just a take out bagel sandwich shop.
Best bagels for miles
A big fan! Have always had success ordering from here. Bagels are all awesome. Super fast service.
Best service ever!
As a former New Yorker big fan of Montréal style bagels, these are sort of a hybrid of both styles. The chew and density are just right, quality of flour is outstanding and they never smell like yeast. A bit pricy and the hours are annoying, but a great treat from great local maker and hey, they freeze well!Just a note: their phone number for orders is not listed here. Go on their website to place orders, the links in the google profile are for third party delivery services.
Absolutely my favorite bagels in the city. Very friendly staff, and everything Ive had is fantastic. The bagels are baked to the perfect crunch without toasting, and the variety of flavors they have is great. It can get busy at times, but is still worth the wait.
I havent had a bagel this good in a long time! I had an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, lox, dill, and thin slices of radish. The bagels texture on the outside was crisp and slightly chewy, while the inside was dense and chewy, without being heavy. It really was perfect and Im so glad we stopped in there! My husband had the same thing except for vegan cream cheese at a sesame bagel. And it was equally delicious. My only complaint is the coffee, which is a lighter, fruity roast. I will never understand why people like this!
It just wasnt good. Bagels were pretty meh. Coffee was extremely meh.
So delicious! Fresh bagels made every day! Need I say more??? Classic lox sandwich is perfect. Its my go to for breakfast!
First time getting a bagel from philly style bagels. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Unfortunately, the bagel was super cold and really hard to chew through. I told them and they said theres nothing they can do.
The bagels are really good made fresh, They have lots of options available. The wait time is pretty long, and the bagels are pretty small, and pricey. The staff moves really fast despite being so busy, but rushing can lead to mistakes( They forgot my bacon on a bagel with only 3 ingredients ordered). It is right next to a dog park which is really cool.
Would be perfect with a little bit of a larger space. The line usually extends to outside and the wait can be a little bit of time. Dont come here expecting to be served immediately. Bagels were great and the woman working the register was absolutely my favorite part of going there. So kind and even recommended another local store when she realized that they didnt have what I was looking for. Will go back.
Love the staff, love the style, love the bagels! Delicious selections for sandwiches, and an ever-growing menu. Service can be slow - this is usually because staff is so friendly that they will chat with customers at length! Bottom line - they know they have a delicious product, and so speed is not always priority one. At peak times you WILL stand in line. Also, if youre a fan of a specialty kind (like me - 😍cinnamon raisin) then get there early, because they DO sell out.
Been on a bagel hunt lately ran into this little place and boy am I glad the best bag err ls ever they were still warm when I got them and so soft and chewy inside and perfect crispy outside definitely will be my go to
Drooling just thinking of this bagel again. So so so gooooooood! I got an everything bagel with plain cream cheese and iced coffee. It was everything I wanted and more. The bagel had everything seasoning on both sides! It was super crispy and delicious. I wish I lived right around the corner from this place. So so so so good.
So yummy. Boiled in beer, baked to almost crispy perfection, you gotta try these bagels. Was slightly worried when I read there was no toaster but it didnt need it at all.
Im a week post spine surgery and was craving a bagel with lox and cream cheese. I ordered from Uber Eats and had a lovely delivery guy but when I went to eat the bagel its almost inedible. I just tried to call but no phone number comes up so somebody could please get back to me I appreciate it.
Best bagel in Philly. Best I’ve ever had anywhere. Lots of texture. Thick crusts. High density. Sandwiches are good but salt bagel + cream cheese is where it’s at. Get there before 10 to avoid the lines on weekends.
I LOVE this bagel place! They get very crowded on weekend mornings so come prepared for a wait. Otherwise, the bagels are awesome and sandwiches delicious.
AUTHENTIC BAGELSMy view of what makes a good bagel is based on bagels from Jewish bakeries and delis in the NYC area over the past 60 years. Authentic bagels are dense and chewy, and flavorful. Philly Style Bagels are the closest to this standard that I have found in many years. They are definitely worth the trip to their single location! Most, so called, bagels have evolved into over-sized, bread-like, creations. These pseudo-bagels are good in their own regard. But they are closer to rolls than to authentic bagels. They just dont hack it when I want a real bagel. Also, Philly Style Bagels packs on the toppings, such as poppy seeds, covering both top and bottom generously. If you want delicious, authentic bagels, head on over to Philly Style Bagels.Living in Philly has the advantage of gems like this bakery.
My fiancé and I love these bagels and we’ve gone every Sunday for the past few years. Unfortunately, we’ve had one of the worst customer service experiences and have contemplated not going back. After watching them make our order incorrectly, we asked if they could fix it and the employee claimed he did multiple times. So trying to be polite, we thanked him and left, only to find unsurprisingly that the order was completely wrong. So we went back to politely ask for our order to be corrected and the employees were unbelievably rude and talked down to us. If I had a food allergy, I could have gotten sick, and these two employees did not care. We were completely shocked at the blatant disrespect and we’re not sure if we want to continue going back. These really are the best bagels in the city and I’d give them 5 stars, but these two employees handled their mistake horribly.
Best bagel shop in Philly. Hands down
Gold standard of bagels
Good bagels made fresh and hot. Additionally, the there are some interesting cream cheese options. Everything is fairly priced. The main drawback is that the hours are pretty limited and the limited space indoors results in folks waiting outside sometimes.
Really awesome bagels, they don’t skimp with the toppings (top and bottom!), the eggrything bagel is particularly tasty, and super friendly staff.
One of the best bagels I have ever had. The everything bagels have such a beautiful mix of flavors, sweet and with just a little kick. I would recommend just getting a little bit of butter on the bagel, really you wouldnt need anything with how great these things taste. Coffee is also a great compliment to the taste of the bagels. Overall great bagels and great staff!
Really good bagels! I got a lox combo on an everything and it was delightful! I also took home half a dozen, which lasted for the next two days (I didnt freeze them). My only qualm was that the coffee was super watery. It may have been an off day, but if I went again I would probably not get my coffee there.
I can’t express how fortunate I am to be living walking distance from Philly Style Bagels. They are the best bagels I’ve ever had in my life and the service is always friendly. I love everything about this place and everyone who works here. 😊 Check out their vegan cream cheeses and be sure to take a peek at the board by the register. They post what special bagels and spreads they also have available that’s not on the regular menu.
I am so appreciative of the guy who made my bagel 10 mins ago. First time someone has ever changed their gloves before making my bagel (vegan). My hero 😭💓 a small shop full of wonderful people
Best bagels in Philly. Period!
Salt bagels are a family favorite. Chewy center, crisp outside and a salty finish...the perfect carrier of any sandwich fixing.
Amazing bagels. They are the absolute freshest! Get them before they run out.
Tasty bagels. Price is reasonable for the quality. I bought 1 bagel with cream cheese, was still hungry for a second so I’d recommend going for two (they’re kind of small).
The best Bagels in the country. Very unique flavor and texture. Lots of toppings on both sides of bagel. Part of process involves beer and a pizza oven. They have created a Philly style of bagel. Highly recommend.
Probably the best bagel I ever had in my life so far Im thinking,
Coffee was a bit watery. no amount of cream or sugar could fix it. and bagels got hard in 10 mins if not eaten. not a fan of how the bottom is seeded too. veggie cream cheese was bomb though
Love this shop, bagels are great. I really appreciate the generous amount of everything seasoning. 😭🤤🤗🤗👍👍
Great bagels, great staff. Philly Style is my happy place.
I only get the everything bagel. I couldnt tell you if anything else was good
I fell for the old gag of showing up after good press, excited for the Lox. Having been raised on Russ and Daughters, I was excited. Unfortunately, I only discovered they were out of Lox once I reached the front of the line.I mean, with all these hand made signs, why put up another letting people know youre actually out of your main draw? Oh, right, because theyre so busy! But they werent. There were literally 4 dudes standing around doing nothing. It was a billion degrees in there, so I understand the malaise. But still...As for the everything bagel, id equate it to being more Montreal style. Its good. Not amazing. Its merely good. I brought my sandwich home and by now its bordering on cracker level, but yet once you get through the surface it has a decent texture. Certainly nothing to go wild about. Like, I wouldnt go in there for a dozen type thing. Spread and Chestnut are fine enough for bagels.I applaud there creative sandwich approach. Its something I witnessed in Oakland a few years ago with Beautys Bagels. Its a good thing to have around. All told though, if youre from the NY/NJ area you wont be blown away. If youre from the Burgh, youll be more excited. If youre from Philly I dont think you need to make a trip. And if youre going to make sure to call ahead because store bought lox is something I could have made at home...
Liked it, didnt love it. Cinnamon raisin with almond butter and bacon. The bacon was the star. The bagel was too doughy inside and didnt sit well with me. The person taking orders was very friendly. Ill try again sometime.
Dreams are made of their bagels. 10/10 highly reccommend. Their iced coffee is wonderful, omg all of their options are crazy. The vegan cream cheese is what life is about. Never a bad experience, and always worth the wait. Dont even get me started on their fresh Orange Juice.
The brick-and-mortar space for this long-deserving business is finally a reality! Its very cramped inside and of course theres a huge line, but the bagels are insanely good (boiled in Yards beer). Yes, although the bagels are more expensive than other artisan bagels in the area, all of the ingredients are so fresh and the bagels taste so good that Philly Style is worth both the wait and the price.
Best Bagel in town. Just right. The Everything is out of sight. Sandwiches are delish too. Watch the hours and days open but worth it. Get them.
Great bagels. Make sure to check out the cream cheese flavour of the day. Todays was Tampa, and it was delightful. Park is also a quiet place to watch the neighbourhood dogs.
These are my favorite bagels in the city. My personal go to is the Plain Bagel with Whitefish Spread, but they have plenty of good options. In an expensive food area of the city, the prices here are reasonable for the quality you receive. One thing to note is that they dont have a toaster on the premises, so the bagel you are getting is room temperature. I personally like it this way, but I have heard some people complain about not having a hot bagel, and if thats you, then Philly Style isnt for you. Im local to this neighborhood, so another note Ill make is that if you go on a Saturday or Sunday morning, the line will often be out the door and can be a 25-35 minute wait. The business is small, so it is takeout only. What you want to do is grab your bagels and enjoy them across the street at Palmer Park.
Best bagels in town hands down
Delicious. all of it. 10/10 recommend. get them bagels and iced coffee y’all.
Im very lucky to have lived across the street from this place. This place has the best bagels around the area that Ive tried. They dont have egg sandwiches (building is too small for grill) and they still have a huge line on weekends. That says a lot. The bagels are hot and fresh out of the oven, you can see the guy taking them out and putting them in as your in line. They have fresh squeezed OJ, all sorts of organic drinks and what not...place is the real deal. The only small problem is that the huge ovens drive the heat up and so on a 90 degree day it gets to like 100 degrees inside. Good thing theyre quick.
Dynamite menu. Staff was really pleasant. Will be back again.
The bagels were very good, but boy was that place pricey! It was a nice one-time experience, but I dont see us spending in excess of $25 for four bagels ever again.
Delicious!
Great fresh food.. awesome place, friendly staff! Recommend for a great bagel..
Freshest bagel in your life! Not cheap but worth every penny. Because they make them right there, the bagels arent shipped so they keep fresh longer at home. Nice staff too, making it a winner.
