My family received the Campmor catalog when I was growing up, though none of us had been to the store (its over 1,100 miles from our house!). So, on my last trip east, I decided to finally stop by. The store was even better than expected!The store is larger than it appears from the street, and there are several departments. I wish that there were a deeper selection of clothing, but there are many tents and sleeping bags, ample footwear, paddling gear and kayaks/canoes/SUPs, and lots of gear/accessories.Give yourself time to explore the store; there are good deals to be found. I purchased a nice merino wool/poly blend sweater for cooler weather activities at 50 percent off. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Terrific place for anyone who wants to spend a day or a week in the woods. Huge store great use of the space and great selection. Easy to miss if your driving the speed limit on that thruway but worth stopping in.

I called this place to make sure they had what I needed. The guy who answered was super helpful and offered to set it aside from me. The lady at the register was super patient and courteous when I asked to split the payment 3 ways.They have some REALLY cool stuff and a great staff! Everything you need to get back on those trails! 👍👍I really miss the tent display. As a kid I used to play in them and try to convince my mom that THIS was the tent we NEEDED. Was excited to bring my kid here to do the same thing... times change. Still a great store.

This store seems to have any hing and everything you need for a camping or hiking trip. Reasonable prices and good quality merchandise, with friendly and knowledgeable staff to boot. Definitely will be coming back for anything else I may need in the future.

I had a great experience at Campmor today. I purchased Thule Motion XT XXL 22cu ROOFTOP CARGO CARRIER yesterday. I could pick up my stuff at curbside pickup today. They came out to the parking lot and showed me what to do. Especially, I appreciated to my man Tahir, Because Tahir informed me how to install Thule. It was great guidance. Finally, I was able to put Thule on my roof rack and drive home . Really appreciated the help. I highly recommend to my friends and family.

Now this is a store with great depth in the world of the outdoors. Prices are better than the internet. The sign says Mom and Pop shop, another example of what has made America great. Oh yes we have some big problems to resolve but Capitalism works for the most part. We are raising the kindest and gentlest generations that have ever lived. They understand that it is not all about money, the big flaw of capitalism, that has lead to our current situation. Imagine capitalism without greed, Heaven on Earth. Its going to happen. The kids get it, now if my generation could only take off their blindersGreat job Mom and Pop. We will be back to buy, buy, buy. :)

Passed this a bunch of times and finally made it in. This place is awesome. I reckon it literally has everything you could need, regardless if the outdoor activity. I will definitely be frequenting this establishment.

This place has everything you need to enjoy the outdoors. The staff here is knowledgeable and patient. They will not pressure you into buying nonsense that wont contribute to your outdoor activity.

I love this place. Everything is cheaper and better than REI, and the staff is insanely knowledgeable. They have everything you would ever need for the outdoors at reasonable prices and great direction.

We first went to REI in search of a 6 person tent but found limited options for the price range and abilities we wanted. Took a trip to Campmor and found exactly what we were looking for. Dont get me wrong, REI has very knowledgeable and helpful staff but Campmor gives you the accommodations you need sometimes to get the best products! We tested our tent before buying and were able to talk to the person who set up the tent in store to learn how to put up/take down the tent. So helpful! Love Campmor!

Ive seen this place many times and always wanted to stop. My family used the little black and white, newsprint catalogs for years and heres a Campmor for reals!Its tough to live up to what a catalog can offer though. With 150 6x7 pages you can list everything in stock. With a store you can only stock what physically fits in that space.But you do get people who have knowledge of the products on hand. And a kayak shop. And the ability to physically examine merchandise rather than go by a tiny, line drawing.It wasnt everything I hoped for, nowhere near what can be found in competing outdoor suppliers. Prices were all over the place as well. Things that should be cheap were cheap and bigger things were prices as youd expect camping gear to be priced. *Camping gear is always expensive*So not a bad store but not what I was hoping to see either and given the practical way to visit this store is on the way home from any outing, Ill visit Campmor less often than I do other suppliers.

Incredible, nice and knowledgeable staff. I was working with Paul. He was EXTREMELY patient and thorough with providing me the exact info I needed for my Thule Awning. Not only did Paul and his staff exceed my expectations, they helped me install the awning to my truck on site! I would highly recommend this store for any outdoor needs. Ask for Paul!

Got a roof rack and cargo box. I bought the rack first. They came out to the parking lot and showed me what to do, without doing everything for me. I appreciated this because I needed to be able to do this on my own as well. So great guidance. Then they help me measure and realise that showed me which cargo boxes would fit. I bought the box then drove to the back and again they help me get it up and showed me how to set it up. Really appreciated the help.

This store used to be so much better, it was my go-to place for camping. Its turned into a clothing store with some sports related items. Certainly nothing like the days of Bogota NJ.

Nothing wrong with the site, though sorting is a bit of a pain. Shipping is good. Customer service is patronizing it responsive (classic NJ attitude).My only problem with the site is their security. If you shop here plan to have your credit card information stolen/sold and used fraudulently.

Couldnt select anything other than standard shipping online and needed my order quickly for a rafting trip. Called the store and was taken care of with professional effeciency by a very nice lady. I wish I could remember her name- she needs a raise. Within 5 minutes of placing my overnight order, I received a confirmation email with tracking info. Very impressed. Thanks guys!

Super as usual. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Got our regularly used good quality hiking socks (smart wool) and footwear (slippers and sneakers). Oofos slippers are very comfortable with good arch support.

I purchased a Thule Motion XT XXL last week. They were the only store which had one including the manufacturer. I picked it up today. It was a painless process and they showed me how to install it and attached it to my car for me. This is a great store!

There is nothing bad to say about Campmor. They have gear for everyone.

They had what I needed, so that is good.

Bought a cargo box for my SUV and the gentleman that put it up on top of my car was very helpful in explaining everything about it.

The employees are very helpful, and are very honest. Like if theres a better thing somewhere else theyll tell you, amazing.

Not the same Campmore I used to visit with my dad decades ago (the building is; their inside structured alot smaller than what I remember). Live there products, they are great for active people.

I used to love this store. Always bought my hiking boots, poles, clothing as well as bike clothing here. Bought camping gear for my son here as well. Stopped in recently and walked the entire store, including looking at boots, and was never offered any help. There was a lot of employees trying to appear busy stocking. Apparently assisting customers isn’t a priority.

I started my experience with campmor when I was looking for a roof basket for my vehicle. They had exactly what I was looking for and at the right price unlike most of their competitors which were marking up the price. I placed my order and in exceptional timing they had my order processed and and already shipped out to me.Now when my package arrived I did see some damage on the box that made me nervous, I proceeded to open the package and found damage on my new roof basket and my first reaction was (Aw man this is about to get complicated) now I know this stuff happens all the time with any company so I took pictures of the damage and emailed them out to the company and then waited for a response.It was only a few hours later that I had a response not only by email but by phone as well!!!wondering how they could satisfy me as a customer.I have never experience this kind of AMAZING service. They didn’t try to deny that the damage was there, they didn’t throw me through all kinds of technical processes they simply made it about ME. It was mix experience shopping for the first time with them. They have stuffs for your outdoor activities but limited. Steve really helped in getting me all the camping and hiking stuff. At start I told that there is ongoing limited discounts on purchase and I negotiated for discount for my entire purchase and they confirmed that I will get. But while making payment the cashier shows reluctance but they gave the discount on my entire purchase after stating what was confirmed to me when I started.After a week I visited again to return a sleeping bag that didn’t worked on camping at ADK which it supposed to be as per the rating shown on the bag. I got the replacement after having some conversation but worst experience with them was again with the cashier who first reduced the discount from my first purchase (which was genuine) but when I purchased a new sleeping bag with higher amount she didn’t gave discount which was running that day, reasoning she gave was I already got discount earlier, so what? you won’t be giving any offer running to me onwards for life time? I felt very uneasy when she explained a failed mathematics to me. I prefer not to discuss a lot as she was determined with her logic. It was very unprofessional and possibly I won’t be visiting them again.

Best place for outdoor equipment

Best store you could ever hope to deal with! The tent I ordered is exactly what I wanted. The customer service exceeded my expectations. There was a mistake on my end with the delivery address, CS rep Steven went out of his way to reship the order with 2-day delivery. Ill be shopping at Campmor for all my outdoor needs.

Campmor is not the store it used to be and it absolutely breaks my heart to say this.Started coming here in the 1980s with my scout troop to load up on supplies. I was away from Jersey for a decade and was delighted that hardly a thing in the store changed from 1990 through 2000 when I moved back. I was on their mailing list and always looked forward to the newsprint catalog they used to send out and ordered things by mail before the web was a thing when I lived out of state.The store appearance and layout barely changed a bit from 1987 through about 2018ish. I dont recall the specific date, but it was when they downsized their boot selection when I think things started changing. Got a great deal on boots. Although I was a little alarmed, because of the extent they were downsizing. I actually asked if they were moving or going out of business. They told me that they were not, but it was difficult to keep such a breadth of a boot selection in stock. Fair enough. But, it seems that limiting the boot selection wasnt the only thing that changed.I went back today for the first time in a couple of years because I wanted to check out backpacking tents and the place is just gutted. Its not coronavirus either. I was so shocked that I looked at older reviews here on Google and there are pre-coronavirus reviews saying the same.If youre familiar with the old layout of the store, the boots were on the left far wall on the back. That whole section is now cubicles.Remember how they had that tent display in the back? They would have dozens of tents on display. Sometimes its hard to tell in a catalog what youre getting with a tent and it was helpful to see one set-up. Thats gone now too. Thats what killed me. I was excited to show my son the tent display. Its now closed to the public and is now just for storage/wearhouse.The selection is awful all around. I like Leki as a brand, but that was pretty much the only trekking poles they carried, just as an example. Two or three types of sleeping pads. Very small selection of sleeping bags, internal frame packs, tents, things that you want to see or try on before you buy.The people there all seem very nice. Someone helped me find a headlamp, although they only had two types of headlamp from the same manufacturer. But, you could get most of what they sell in Target, Walmart, or even Amazon.We had just come from Ramsey Outdoor and they seemed well stocked, but Campmor was always the backpacker-oriented store to go to in Bergen County. As a hiker/backpacker, this isnt the place for me anymore.

I shopped this store in the 90s, and only recently moved back to NJ. It changed alot. The selection of tents and sleeping bags is pretty minimal. Competition has been brutal. But still an awesome store.

Fantasic experience! Our family came here from out of state to see if they had cargo boxes since most places have been on back order. Not only did they have the exact ones we wanted at a fair price, the employees were nothing short of outstanding. At the end of the day, they helped mount the rack and box to the car in no time flat, all while explaining the important parts so that I could do this on my own. I have been an outdoors enthusiast for decades and dont think that I have ever had a better experience with any store. These folks (Bob and Paul?) were terrific!

Went here to get hiking shoes. There were many shoes to choose from and the staff were very helpful and explain the purpose of the different variants. They were very patient with us when we were trying on shoes and comparing them to each other. There was also a decent selection of socks for hiking. Overall, we were able to find the shoes and socks that we were looking for. The shoes also come with a good warranty and fit guide to make sure the shoes fit correctly. The store also was not too busy so we were able to shop easily.

Not what it used to be, but Im glad they are still there. Clothing was very expensive. I dont want to pay $50 to $75 for shorts.

Has thinned out stock a bit over the years. The staff is always helpful, but unfortunately they sometimes don’t have want you need.Disappointed they no longer carry as big a selection of hiking shoes.

The staff can tell you first hand what the products are like because most of them wear them or use them on a frequent basis. I went in because I had lost the key to my Yakima Skybox SUV cargo top and the team worked diligently to find a solution. From searching for an overnight solution to contacting the stores Yakima rep to finally finding a matching barrel and key. Some of the best retail customer service Ive ever been a part of. Ive been going to Campmor since about 1986. All these years later, their customer service is top-notch. Their sales people are always knowledgeable about the products they sell and will give you honest feedback. Never once in 34 years have I felt pressured to buy something or upsold.What has changed is the selection. Years ago, you could hardly walk through the store because there was so much merchandise to choose from. Now, displays are far apart and sparsely stocked. I did get what I needed on a recent visit but there wasnt much to choose from. Like so much brick-and-mortar retail, Campmor seems to belong to a sadly disappearing era.

Great place to set up for an expedition. No XXL or larger in store, at least when Ive been there. Good stuff at high prices.

I love Campmor, but... The last time I went the store was not well stocked, and when I asked an employee for help with a size, he said that anything I need would be on the floor only. Apparently they didnt have stock of much in the back. There was no recommendations for anything else that might work, and no mention of restocking.

Used to shop here all the time when i was young always had great high end things went today saturday and shocked very little stock, camping section is bare bones, clothing was minimal very little north face gear.I think the end is near for this store, i will not come back here was a waste of my time.And after a online search seen the building is up for sale so that must explain it.

Really great resource and more affordable compared to other outdoor outfitters. It’s very large and the staff is very helpful. Found a great deal on a large tent and there are many backpacks and clothing options too which is what we were looking for. Basically everything you could need to be prepared outdoors can be found there.

So great to have such a wonderful store nearby... Sure, we could shop online, but touching and playing with key outside gear is so valuable... Sure, I can return and exchange online purchases, I personally find that very annoying and a waste of time... The in-person expert advice and a curated selection of high quality choices highly increases the probability of a first time success.

Bought two pairs of Solomon hiking boots, one for me one for my buddy, gave him the receipt in case he wanted to return them. His boots were fine, mine were causing an abrasion on my heel, so I called him and he had thrown out the receipt. Still, I went down there and asked them to look up my purchase, gave them the date and exact items on the receipt, and they wound up exchanging the boots for me. Great customer service. I love this store.

Been here many times. The stock and selection seemed to be a little light, however it was the Saturday after Christmas. Good quality outdoor stuff for many different sports.

Found a great deal on a pair of hiking boots. They were on the clearance rack and were lightly used. They list for $400. I paid only $89.

I used to work here and I can attest to the fact that every single employee that works here is knowledgeable and patient. They all use the gear outdoors and have tons of experience.Regardless of negative reviews that i have seen i have been on the other side of things and I know for sure it is NOT the employees being unreasonable, its usually the customer ;)

Visited the store in March 2020. It is a shell of what it once was, most of the speciality departments are gone. No bikes, knives and knife gear, and camping supplies are minimal. Most racks looked like they are selling what is left before closing for business. Even the top notch clothing is limited. Not the famous store of the past. Sad, very sad and disappointing.

Yes you might find it cheaper on Amazon, but you wont find the variety or the staff to help!

It really feals like this place is going under. There is almost no inventory. It used to be incredibly well stocked. The staff informed me the reason they have no inventory is because they are launching a new website. I dont understand why that would matter though.

Campmor is a one of a kind shopping experience for the avid outdoors person. You will find expert support and great deals. The only thing I find odd is that it is easier to find specials and discounts on the on-line website than in the actual store. Still you will always find that item you didnt even know you needed for your next camping trip just by walking down these aisles. Unfortunately I always seem to be driving by Campmor on Sunday when it is CLOSED!
