This is the only place I will take my cars because they are so honest and thorough. No BS, they are good about communicating what actually needs to be addressed. They also go out of their way to answer all my questions and help me make smart vehicle purchases.

We’ve had our car serviced here for years and always are happy with the service. This morning my husband and I were driving down Main Street and suddenly our charging system light came on and we were able to pull right into Dave’s as it was just a block away and even though it was only 7AM and they don’t open until 8, Ryan came out and helped us fix the problem with our alternator belt in just a few minutes. He was so kind and helpful and didn’t even charge us. Excellent service and staff.

UPDATE: I was very happy with purchasing a truck from this company, but not at all happy with the service side of the company. My truck failed emissions due to a code on the catalytic converter. I took the truck back to Daves Canyon Auto because I was told before I purchased the truck they had replaced the catalytic converter and timing chain. My regular mechanic thought we could re-flash the catalytic converter to resolve the error code so I thought it would be good to take it back to the people who originally replaced the catalytic converter. I also figured Id have them look into why the truck frequently goes into limp mode when we back the truck up while towing a trailer. On the way to drop the truck off, the water pump blew giving me three things I needed help with.Long story short, I found out they only replaced the catalytic converter on one side (I didnt understand when I bought the truck that there are two catalytic converters; Im not a mechanic by any stretch of the word) and I ended up with a $2,000 bill after discounts they extended since I purchased the truck from them. However, my truck still goes into limp mode, the catalytic converter was neither replaced nor would they re-flash it like my regular mechanic suggested we try first, I have a constant check engine light on now, the truck still goes into limp mode when backing up the trailer, it wont pass emissions, and the only issue resolved was fixing the water pump. While I loved the sales side (5 stars for that) I was completely unhappy with the service side (1 star for that).Paid $2k for repairs that didnt resolve 2 of my 3 problems when I only paid $12k for the truck in the first place and they kept my work truck for a week to get it fixed which lot a huge strain on my company drive we only have 3 vehicles running. They asked me to bring it in again to look at, but I honestly dont trust them after my first experience. Im just going to eat that repair bill and take it to a mechanic I trust.ORIGINAL: They have some of the best prices on cars (especially trucks) with great customer service. I never felt any pressure working with them and they quickly worked on resolving an issue that came up with a truck I purchased from them. I will definitely recommend them to anyone looking to buy a new car and would be happy to work with them again when I purchase another vehicle.

Canyon Auto is hands down THE best auto mechanic shop we have ever been to. We have recommended all of our extended family and friends whenever the discussion of auto repairs comes up. Upon following up with them, everyone who has gone on our recommendation raves about Dave and all the other great people there. Their prices are good and they are honest.

Love the service, repair work, and troubleshooting. They are very busy in the afternoon because people know they get the job done right. Make sure to drop off the car in the morning for quickest service or even the night before. If your car is running less than spectacular take it here, or to keep it top running shape make sure to get your maintenance work performed and save money over taking it to a dealership. I wont take my cars anywhere else.

The people who rated this 5 stars have to be family and close personal friends. I took my vehicle in less than a year ago for a leak. Come to find out it needed other repairs of control arms, braces and other things costing about 1000 dollars which is fine. Dave wanted me to come back and get an alignment done for another 50. Really? With all the $ I just dished out, you couldnt have thrown the alignment in at a discount or something? The lady working the front desk had the no personality. Not friendly at all. For that matter not even polite. Fast forward less than 10 months I take my car somewhere else to get new tires. They had told me two bolts, one on each side, that had been fixed by them have almost fallen out. If they would have come completely loose and we were driving it could have caused a major car wreck and if we were driving on the interstate probably would have lost our lives. I would not recommend this repair shop to anyone.

My van was STRUGGLING. Toke it in and told Dave we were on a tight budget. He looked into it and made a plan of action. We agreed and he did the work. But after the van was still struggling. He checked it again and sure enough the engine was a goner. He didnt charge me a DIME for all the parts or work he had already done. He said it was their bad for not checking it more thoroughly! SERIOUSLY! If he makes a mistake he owns it. I wont go anywhere else.

When I got there, they had the wrong part and immediately called and ordered the right one and it got there within 20 min, and they put it on and it was done so quick. I am so disappointed and distraught. We were referred here from a family friend who spoke very highly of this place.When we first got there the front desk girl was very rude to us. The owner, Dave Im assuming, spoke to us and told us he would call us back when everything was done.We got a ride home and waited for hours. We decided to call and they said the car had been done and they forgot to call.The big doozy though, was that the next day (today) when we checked our bank account (on a Saturday when they are not open despite what google says their hours are) it showed they charged us 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME TRANSACTION!!! 3 TIMES!!It has been so stressful, we are not rich and that has been a huge blow to our bank account.Im hoping Monday everything can be rectified, but I am extremely disappointed with how this all turned out. Sorry Dave, Im afraid to come back to you now.

Happy with the service. My husbands car blew a spark plug. Originally took it to a different mechanic who barely looked at it and wanted to charge $500. That mechanic tried to do everything to get me to stay there instead of getting a second opinion.I called around and found this place, where they quoted me for much less. They didnt fix things unnecessarily, and promised to let us know if there would be any charges further than what we were told.They got it done within 1 day, and charged us a very fair price!

I took my vehicle here because my power steering was making noise. He replaced my power steering pump. Not only did that not fix the problem, but when I took it to someone else, they said that it didnt need to be replaced and he overcharged me big time for the repair. I was very disappointed. I also had a similar experience with the staff as some of the reviews below. The staff was not very friendly or professional. They were quick with conversation and didnt seem to care much to explain anything. Sorry but I will never use this place again.

This is the second time Ive used these guys - both times for emergency repairs when our college kids car broke down. They provided honest assessment of what the car needed (and didnt need), repairs were performed quickly and priced fairly. I highly recommend them.

DONT EVER GO HERE! Youre car will be held a minimum of 2 weeks! My husband took in his car 2 times. First time he was out of a car for 2 weeks. THEN When we got it back, his check engine light came BACK on and he literally couldnt start it. We took it in and held it for a week, we called, they said it was the timing belt, said it would take a few days, well, they held it again for a week. When I called back the next week, they said it WASNT the timing belt and it was something else! What a joke! In total, it took 3 weeks to get a fix done!NEVER GO HERE!

*Update* Two years later, and even though weve moved to Saratoga Springs, I will never go to anybody else. He is knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. He never recommend work I dont need and he takes the time to explain things to you.These guys are amazing! I got new tires and the guys at Big O Tires said I needed my left lower control arm replaced and that it would cost me a bunch of money that I dont have. I took it to Daves and he said that really a bolt just needed to be tightened. He basically did it for me for free. I will never be going anywhere else!

Dave is one of a few that I totally trust to work on my car. He has been my only mechanic for 17 years and I have never been disappointed with his work.

While expensive, not because they charged more than usual, they fixed both my car and truck. They stand behind their work! To the point of towing my car to their garage on their dime ( and I live more than 100 miles away) to fix an issue with it. They kept me in the loop every step of the way, did the work in a timely manner and went above the ordinary to make sure my vehicles were ready.

Dave is a very honest and hard working mechanic. I have taken many cars to him over the years, and I would never trust anyone else. There was one time someone else gave me a better price and I foolishly went to him. Less than a year later my car broke down again with the same problem and the man didnt guarantee it. Needless to say I learned my lesson. Dave has always been fair, honest, and done a great job. Hes all my family will use and I would recommend him to anyone.

I have had an issue with a synchro in my Hyundai. It is covered by my powertrain warranty so I went in to Canyon Auto and they said they would work with the warranty company to take care of the problem. After I dropped off my info they called me back a day later and told me the warranty company said they would not cover it until the car would no longer drive. And even then it was not guaranteed to be covered. I thought this was ridiculous so I called the warranty company myself. I was ready to give them hell when they told me that no one had ever called about my policy and the representative told me that I should get it fixed immediately or else they would definitely NOT cover my transmission. Their software requires an entry noting that inquiries were made about a specific policy and there were no notes, so Canyon Auto never even called them about mine.Canyon Auto, for whatever reason, lied about calling the warranty company and lied to my face about the car not being covered. Had I not called myself, I would be in serious trouble. I have since taken my car to another garage and they have taken care of me! If you dont want the business, just tell me youre too busy. Definitely never coming back and definitely telling others to stay away too.

Honest, great people work here! They dont fail your safty and emmissions inspection just to get you to spend more money on your car. They also inspect motorcycles, but make a quick call to make sure the guy that does the bike inspections is working.

The oil change they did was literally half the price than the one I got at Grease Monkey prior. AND THEY USED BETTHER OIL. I was expecting to pay alot more than i actually paid. Also, grease monkey said Ill most likely need to replace my transmission fluid.. dave told me that was unlikely for the amount of miles on my 4runner but he checked it out anyway and said it looked just fine. Please reference my review on grease monkey in pleasant grove which Ill be leaving now that I know how much they ripped me off and tried to get more. Dave and his band of merry mechanics will keep you and your vehicles in good hands and you can always count on them for honesty and hard work. Again, I cannot overstate how lucky we are to have a mechanic like this in our city of Orem. I was reluctant to leave this review because he is always so busy, but what the heck, they deserve all the good karma coming their way.

Dont take your car here! We took our Acura in multiple times to fix an oil leak and they could never find where the leak was coming from. They fixed things that didnt need to be fixed, and we paid close to $2000. We wound up having to take the car to a different shop who fixed the problem at last. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

I have been taking my cars to Dave for years. He has always been fair and honest.

I took my car in because my breaks were squeaking loudly, and I assumed I needed new break pads. After looking at my car, the gentleman let me know that I still had a lot of life on my break pads and that the squeak was the result of something else. He only charged me a minimal amount to fix the squeak, when he could have charged me hundreds of dollars and I wouldnt have known the difference.Dont let the appearance of the shop scare you away. It looks somewhat scary on the outside, but my first experience here was very positive.

Fixed the mounts that I came to get fixed, HOWEVER, he decided to do additional work I didnt ask for (refilling my refrigerant) and charged me for it. (I shouldnt have paid, but for some reason, in the moment, I did.) Talking to friends, it turns out that is common for them.Also, they illegally parked my friends car and earned him a parking ticket. Instead of fessing up, they just threw away the ticket and let him find out about it months later when the city was unhappy that he hadnt paid the ticket.Not good.
