The name Horn Trader is a bit of a misnomer, they are most certainly not in the business of wanting to sell instruments, let alone trade them. Not only are they rude and dismissive, when presented with evidence of just how much they are overcharging for instruments they still refuse to budge to a remotely appropriate price. They dont know how much any of their own merchandise costs, just that its pretty expensive...six, seven, eight thousand maybe. The value of the instrument ended up being more like $3000-$3500, they are significantly overcharging. Asking $200 for used mouthpieces you can buy brand new for $150 max. They have instruments that have been on the shelves for close to two decades and they dont want to adjust the prices. They dont want to sell instruments, they want to hoard them. This place is a joke.Sure, they have a LOT of merchandise, instruments you cant find anywhere else in the city. But good luck trying to buy one at a fair price.
Been using them for years as my go to for bass guitar setups. Bruce is one of the best and most honest guy you could ask for a setup, and he is always quick on the turnaround. Great shop, I send anyone who will listen there for their musical needs.
Don’t shop here.I was so excited to find a store near to my company that had a vast array of vintage Selmer saxes which I wanted to see and possibly purchase. I was so excited till I stepped through the door. The staff could not have cared less that I was there. I was greeted by the manager with:WE ARE CLOSING IN 15 MINUTES AND I’M TRYING TO GET A GOVERNMENT LOAN ONLINE.I was taken back by the sheer lack of customer service and rudeness.I decided to walk out with the intention never to return again. I’ll just stick with my Yamaha Custom saxes till I find a store ready to want my business rather than repel my business.BUSINESS TIP:If you’re not available to talk business, then why stay open? Close your store.
If you love vintage drums and horns, this is the place. Stacks of player and collectors drums, ......Everywhere you look!
Excellent place!! I say better than Guitar Center just because of the selection of instruments both new and vintage. The owner is amazing and super helpful!! We took my mom in laws trombone here to be repaired and they were fair and honest about price... Ended up being way cheaper then we expected!!Please go visit this store!!!
These guys are so nice and so friendly and helpful.
Bought my violin here at a, great price.Fender Electric FV-1
Superb place been many times, wide selection, interesting instruments, and VERY affordable prices!!! Owners are wonderful, and even negotiated to lower prices out of kindness!!!
Amazing place low prices and good music equipment
They had some great items for a great price. You have to call when you get there & hell open up. Well definitely be back.
If youre looking for a pre-owned musical instrument....try here....they have what you are looking for.
Helpful cool older dudes with sick gear. I was hoping for a better deal on old drum parts though. Still these guys are top notch and even called me back about stuff.
I am an aspiring worship drummer. The people was so knowledgeable and helpful. They answered many questions and help understand the differences in gear. Thank you guys. Be blessed.
Large selection, friendly staff!
I am hoping to return because my daughter needs her trumpet looked at, they did not pressure me to buy a new instrument. I think you can get just about any instrument related item here, work on instruments performed and advice. You get what you pay for and I think the instruments Horn Trader carries are upper echelon, many are used and show wear and/or patina but are quite serviceable.
Great people
Wonderfully helpful folks, huge selection, and very reasonable prices. We went to get new band instruments for our son and was very pleased. We ended up getting our daughter a new guitar and case. I would highly recommend them.
I honestly thought they were out of business until someone else referred me to Horn Trader Music today. They were the most helpful and knowledgeable people that I have come across in a long time. Seriously, the best customer service hands down!
Very nice respectful an knowledgeable about equipment love this place will be back
This is the first time my grandson tried out for band & he chose the flute. My daughter called several places & the gentleman at this one was really helpful & the best on price so went there. Nice greeting upon entering & immediately helpful & informative since we really had no idea about flutes
Really cool. Place.made a great deal when purchasing my daughters violin. Ask about the clocks!
Cool shop with a lot of stuff you wont find at guitar center. This stuff has soul. It might actually be haunted, but who doesnt love a haunted trumpet?!
These guys are amazing very fair they gave more than Guitar Center Vintage Stock anybody very friendly buy anything for a fair price
Great experience. The gentlemen in the shop were kind and very personable. Very reasonable with pricing on high quality instruments. The shop is also very unique. So you might find something you wouldnt find any where else. I found a 56 American Vintage Series Olympic White flash coated Stratocaster that was set up professionally and that played so well I couldnt go without purchasing the instrument. Horn Trader is definitely worth your time.
There was a nice man to help me, amazing customer service . He helped me get a case for my new guitar he had lots of nice guitars for sell, and I think I will buy a 12 string that I was there .
Ive been going there since the late eighties. Man, if it wasnt for these guys, I would have never kept playing music. I was a broke kid and if I cracked a crash symbol, theyd find something in a pile of old symbols and sell it to me for a song and a dance. If i or a friend needed a guitar, bass or amp so our band could practice, they would have something for us that we could afford that wasnt just junk. I owe some of my creativity to these guys.
Ive been getting my daughters clarinet tuned and repaired by the horn trader for 3 years. We now have 2 clarinets. And are looking at a saxophone that will be maintaned there. Wonderful people doing great work. Thanks You.
I arrived a little late after closing and the owner was getting into his car ready to leave. He saw me pull in and asked me what I needed. I told him, which it was not a huge sale at all, but he very kindly opened the store back up and allowed me to purchase the items. Great customer service and the only store around that had the items I needed!! Definitely recommend!
Amazing company! Excellent customer service and super knowledgeable! I’ve been coming here for years! We don’t go to anyone else!
Love Love Love this place.Im from big city with big music stores.Unbelievable stock of used horns. TonsI have been stopping in here for several years. I always pick a guitar and think...I should buy this guitar, but I never do. I did last week. Beautiful little parlor guitar...Love the owner. Very knowledgeable.Next time, Im going to buy that baritone sax...
Repaired my brothers trumpet great and let my roommate look at a French horn for a long time and even provided her a mouthpiece to try it out. The salesman was very pleasant and patient and answered all her questions. He also provided advice to my brother on guitars and which books he should buy.
I love this place its worse than a kid in a candy store.... I compare it to buying an AKC puppy compared to go into a shelter and getting a puppy... you know you can get just as much love out of a shelter puppy and it dont cost you as much money...😉😉
Also awesome finds here!!
Ive purchased most of my own instruments here, and proud to say Ive now purchased my sons first here as well. Service charges are really reasonable, too. They have always taken care of me.
Super helpful and they have a great selection. They had some unexpected unique pieces as well. Prices are good, Luthier the on the spot. I cant wait to go back!
One guy was nice. The other was kind of rude. I gave it 3 stars bc they do have a lot of instruments you cant find any where else.
Great place for vintage instruments to beginner guitars. They also have a great selection of vintage cases! Great prices too!
Best ever deal!
Excellent selection, interesting instruments, wonderfull staff, reasonable price, 10/10!
The owner is a very new car guy and knows his stuff
This is a cool place. Great staff with knowledge and expertise. Prices are really good as well.
These guy know there stuff about band instruments and they treat you right thank you again guys my daughter loves her new trigger trumbone
Great store! Several different models to choose from, new and used. Highly recommend! Staff very friendly and helpful.
Best place for buying used instruments! Cant beat their repair service either! Quoted $60 to replace a few clarinet pads, & they ended up needing to replace all of the pads & honored their quote!
Purchased a used Cornet for $120. Researched it and found out it was made in 1909. Its not in the greatest condition but it plays. They have a surprisingly large selection of instruments and you wont be disappointed with the selection. Well worth the trip.
Great store, great service
Great selection, knowledgeable staff and great prices
Helpful, affordable and knowledgeable. Go check them out if you get a chance, even if you just go to look.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They all seem to enjoy what they do and the people that come in.
Fun to check out what they have in...
My go to place any time I need anything for the instrument that I play. Really cool local feel, cool place!
Awesome place helpful staff any instrument you could want.
Great place to buy and sell used music equipment. they have been in business a very long time. always nice and friendly!!!
THIS PLACE IS STACKED,, they literally have any instrument you could ask for. Staff is knowledgeable, and the quantity is nothing to scoff at
Great experience. We stopped by on our way to SXSW. The kind of first hand experience you would hope for. Go there.
Great place to buy used instruments! They have them very clean... Great cost, Great condition, Loved it
Amazing classic instruments. Will always stop here when we come thru okc!
I called Horn Trader looking for an inexpensive used Strat, which the gentleman on the phone said they had. I told him what I had to offer in trade, and he told me to bring it down and wed talk. I got all the way down there (about 40 min one way), and I talked to him for a few and looked at their Strat. Then another guy comes up and tells me, Well, we dont need any trades, were overstocked. The only reason I drove down there was because the first gentleman told me to bring my trades, and he knew what my trade-ins were. An hour and a half of my time and quarter tank of my gas wasted. For nothing.
If you want an instrument for less, this is the place to go. Dont get a brand new horn for a 6th grader, go here and get the good deal.
Friendly staff, extensive inventory, lots of vintage and unique instruments!
Great customer service reasonable prices.
You can find any instrument you want at a fair price. All the drums and percussion you need in one place
Told me they was interested in buying my saxaphone and had me drive from shawnee all the way there just for the guitar guy to call the horn guy and tell him that they dont have the proper funds to buy the saxaphone that was worth $1,200.00 used for $25.00 just so that it wouldnt have been an entirely wasted and out of pocket trip
Very nice employees, location good. Lots of merchandise choices...
Miserable excuse for a business. I guess one needs to come in with cash stapled to your clothes to get attention. And, save your time...hornTRADER is a severe misnomer. Youll need 99-100% liquid cash to trade with them. They would not offer $1 for a very nice Martin sax or a decent Emerson open hole! We waited 45 minutes to be told that they would be closing in 15 minutes so we had to hurry! Really? We had watched as a mother traded 2 cheap student flutes and a beat up off-brand fiddle (and one must assume a lot of cash) for a cheap bass guitar. Finally, the man, after the 15 minute warning, allowed us to LOOK at the flugel. I asked to pick it up, at which point I was presented with a pair of dirty white gloves, like those included with $100 First Act trumpets, lol. Mouthpiece in hand, I was told that casual playing was not allowed. Didnt seem to matter that we watched the long-haired teenager play and paw all over the bass guitars? Hmm?Now mind you, this wasnt a $10,000 Monette, but a $1300 used flugelhorn. Last straw! I likened this to being asked to pay for a car before ever opening the door.Additionally, during our wait, we were asked not to touch or remove anything from the shelves, and the old man even asked my 9 year old to cover his mouth when he coughed.I felt more disrespected than Ive ever been. As I say, I felt honored to be there at first, but, that was shattered. These people could offer me a free, new, Monette to make up, and I would still never, ever recommend them!We went out of our way to visit them, but trust me, your day will be far better served if you shy away. Stick to the pawn shops. Youll probably get a better deal, better treatment, and Ive never entered one that wouldnt let you play an instrument. Good day!
Has good prices for what we were looking for.
