I grew up and spend time in Ghana. I have been looking for an authentic African restaurant for years (really decades). Mama Zs is it. I had the Fufu and Goat pepper soup. They said it was spicy ( they did not dumb it down like many restaurants because I am a white American) it was sooo good. The way it is supposed to be. I will definitely be back many more times.
My husband wanted to try something new so he got I think catfish soup and I got the fried chicken and fried rice the fried Chicken came with some sort of spicy sauce that I was unaware of which was okay with some plantain my husbands soup was pretty good but it had a lot of Bones overall it was a new place to try and it was good
My first time ever having Nigerian foodI order the designer beef stewOmg the best !!! Never in my life have I ever had anything this good !!!Very spicy and deliciousβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Had it today or the first time today. Phenomenal food, great service, and very clean! We will definitely be going back!
Service was very poor. I basically had to figure go out on a limb and order anything because staff wasnt much help at all.I ordered plantains because Ive had them before. They tasted horrible... dry and flavorless.I will never dine here again
Food is awesome I eat there everytime I travel to okc I also send my request by friends who mY be driving through to pick me up jollof rice and plantains, and there meat pies yummy 5 stars and around of applause π
Nice place, fast service, some queue, if you go during busy period. But worth it.
Fascinating place. Had the combo fried rice/Jollof with beef and goat meat. Goat was a little dry though. Fried plantains were a nice touch.Went here at the recommendation of a Nigerian co-worker. Reminds me a lot of my native Ecuadorian cuisine. Will come back and try something different. The Lord smiles down on this friendly place.
It was my first time ever I ordered a jollofu wasnt bad π
Fantastic food! New textures and spices that I just loved. Food like this can become a new comfort food.I was saddened when my stomach was full and couldnβt eat any more. I will be back!!!
My daughter had been asking me for her native food. And since I dont cook it we dropped by Mama Zs one of her favorite Nigerian restaurants (not that there are many here to begin with) she got okra soup with chicken and I got my go to Egusi with fish and poundo. While I did enjoyed the Egusi, I always do, I could only eat small amounts of my time due to my recent gastric surgery and the Egusi being so spicy. The Jollof Rice is always good also especially when I add liquid smoke (just because Jollof typically has a smoky flavor when made in Nigeria.) Overall, the food is good.
The Food & customer service is great. They sell just about every West-African dish. 5 star rating because the food taste so good
Food was good and spicy. We didnt receive our full order.
I love this place. The food is very tasty. They have pounded yam and the ingredients to make your own soup and fufu.
The food is good but too expensive for the bit that you get. We rather make our own at home for cheaper.
Very clean and welcoming place. The people are also very nice. I will definitely be going back as needed.
Egusi is great!! Flavorful And food is fresh, I wouldnβt get the goat however it was really really tough,I will try chicken maybe next time but other than that great place!ππΏStop by!
This was my first time trying African food and my husband and I really enjoyed it. We had Egusi soup and Efo soup spicy but good. Portions are small but food is good. We had chicken and beef as the meat for both dishes.
Was very good, the okra soup and fufu was delicious. Very good vibe.
Good authentic African cuisine. Varied selection for food products too!
It was okay for the first time trying African food⦠Food was bland would be better if it had more flavor, seasoning, and spice
Good service π well done.
Great food. Would definitely recommend
Good fufu and moi-moi alike.Friendly but spotty table service.
Great stock of African grocery items; but the checking out service is horrendously slower than you can ever imagine.
Food was good got the goat meat pepper soup with fufu
They didnt give me, my meat pies
Itβs a awesome market place, they got lots of African food for most African countries.
First time trying west African food. Service was great felt welcome and the food was delicious . DEFINITELY RECOMMEND
Very good products but the customer isnβt too good but if you know what you need youβll be fine.
The amala here is classic, we will do it again..
Meat was dry as if they used meat they had been cooked days ago
Great place and great food in Okc. Clean dinning area, I have tried the Cat fish pepper soup a lil bit too spicy but the cat fish was on point.
Ordered to go. Asked for goat they gave me oxtail. Maybe they thought I couldnt tell the difference because Im American. The stew they put on everything is sour.
Itβs real Nigerian Cuisine
Busy place but great food, affordable African food and good customer service.
Great place to eat
The Good:The food gets an absolute A+ rating. The delicious sauces ordered were delectable and not overpowering to the point where the combined aroma wafted through the large, albeit clean dining area. Also meal presentation was appealing; entrees tasted fresh, flavorful and overall mouthwatering. The Bad:The delivery time needs improvement and gets a B- score. Granted, the tardiness was likely a trade-off to accommodate restaurants emphasis on prepping and cooking fresh ingredients, as opposed to serving unsuspecting customers stale warmed over entrees as freshly prepared meals; it would be nice to cut the wait time to, at the most, 30 minutes. The Ugly:The current location is C+ graded. While its a marked upgrade over where business used to be located, positive indicators suggest the decent and family-oriented business owners have ambitious and solid work plans to make as much of their part of the strip mall more inviting and welcoming.
The portion for the price..... I will never order again. It was good but it wasnβt that good.
Goods are not labeled with prices. You are at the mercy of the seller at the counter.
I took my nephew out here just to get away from the house. foods good great quality. not so expensive that you cant make it or weekly thing but the quality is so good I dont want to make it a weekly thing if that makes sense.
Sooooo goooooood
The place is neat, my experience was pleasant nice customer service. I think it just needs to be stocks with different varieties of the same product.
If you want Nigerian and African recipe..
I gave one star because itβs clean but the rude attitude towards non Africans is ridiculous. Wanted to showcase the store but it wasnβt worth my time, effort or energy! Keep your money and go to any other store that welcomes you.
First experience was superb. Great customer service
Was in town for few days and this place was recommended by a friend, not only is it the only Nigerian Restaurant in OK city, its a must visit. The foods were amazing. I had pounded yam n Egusi and the Soup was fantastic. Got my coworker from Venezuela a plate of Jollof rice and he said it was amazing. Truly is.. I dont give 5 stars that easy, but for value for money and quality of food, 6 stars.. and despite the pounded yam being prepared when I got there, it was ready in no time. Surely would recommend this place.
I enjoyed the egusi and pounded yam
The Egusi is fireeeeeeee
This is one of my very favorite places to eat. God bless!
I once thought Oklahoma City had no single Nigerian kitchen until my American wife introduced me to Mama Zβs LOL. Truth is this... Food is amazing. Only issue I have, and it can be easily fixed, thatβs why i think they still deserve a 5 star, is that some times it takes too long to get your order but nevertheless I still enjoy eating or ordering for my food at Mama Zβs.
That was my first time to order there, oh my the egusy soup test so good I will definitely order with them again the only thing I did not like was that they have less worker to help you out with what you need around their shop.
Mama Zs is an African owned and operated market for everything youll need to satisfy your hunger. The fresh food at the restaurant side of the market is on point. If youre living in Oklahoma or traveling through it, skill the hamburger and go and swallow your native food. If you read my review, chop for there, but dont leave me any, you be wicked pesson.
Food was on point just not enough π π
First time here
Ordered Egg with Plantain & Egusi and pounded yam with Goat and Fish... So delicious.
Everything Nigerian groceries most of which are shipped directly from Nigeria. Good for those wanting to buy authentic (otherwise known as organic in the US) grocery. Recommended.
Excellent customer service!
Good for some hard to find items. Friendly.
Excellent jollof rice!
Very Very Nice People!!!!!I dont speak the language, but they understood what i wanted still.!!!!!!π
Food is nasty in the restaurant. No taste at all, meat hard af. Waist of money. The store got some useful stuff tho
It was my first trip there and the staff was friendly and helpful. It had the spices that I was looking for. Next time I will take time to browse the shop.
Great food and great hostess, takes you back to Africa with the great taste and your stomach will be full well well ππ½
The food is good but the customer service sucks, I donβt know if he was having a bad day but I felt very unwelcome and the whole atmosphere was weird.
A great start for the african community
Very professional and a great place to get food items from Nigeria that you cannot find here in the US.
Interesting enough....
