This is becoming one of my favorite places to go! This store is huge - so huge that I havent been downstairs yet where the more typical home improvement products are sold. The first floor has a huge selection of products for gardening, the kitchen, and even your pets.Most recently, I needed to paint a big project. Emil was incredibly helpful, breaking down the products I would need and providing tips on color and painting supplies. I totally trust him and the rest of the team!

I absolutely love Coles Hardware. I went in because an item I bought is missing a piece and they were willing to replace it. They have an incredible stock and friendly knowledgeable employees.

Was given absolutely no help. The guy I talked to didnt even turn around to look at me or at the item I had that I was looking to replace just said if I didnt see it then they didnt have it. It was really disappointing considering I have come to expect such good service from here. Who ever was in plumbing today is hopefully on his way out and not the start of a trend.

Store was crawling with employees who spent their time talking with each other and made clear that you were not their priority. The were still a few good employees left who were helpful.

They have few very rude staff who won’t shy away from degrading comments. Don’t come here unless you look for negative energy.

The good thing about Ace hardware is displays or knowledgeable, bad thing about Ace hardware is that the prices are about 20% more than home Depot. Also they have less inventory than home Depot because theyre smaller. Its a more homie and fire event but thatll cost you 20 to 25% more and they do have knowledgeable employees as opposed to home depot that have employees with the average IQ of about 91.

I used to go to the one in San Francisco now I go to the Coles in Rockridge. Its a small store but the staff are really helpful!

Cole has everything, minus the super-in-demand items that no one has like canning supplies circa late September 2020. Seems like a small store until you realize the shelves slide to reveal a second layer (!) and theres a cavernous downstairs area packed with hardware goodies.

I have had an enjoyable shopping experience at the store Cole hardware is my hardware store of choice both here in Oakland and on Cole St. in San Francisco The staff are friendly courteous knowledgeable Great Customer Service.

My favorite store in the neighborhood! Cole Hardware has really great quality products. All the staff are helpful and knowledgeable about their products. One in particular, Jon, has been a great resource in one of my home improvement projects. Also love that they have a monthly happy hour and seasonal workshops.

There is NOTHING like living within walking distance of a Cole Hardware store. Great people with the things you need so you dont have to go to a big box.

It was a beautiful day and we’re new in the area and went to explore around. we went to this store with mask, hat on and 😱... we were there only for new minute and almost 5 employees came and ask if we need anything which is nice but their looks towards us were so uncomfortable. Usually I like to explore and relax while shopping so I try to take time and concentrate what I need and what to get but I was so disturb. I couldn’t set my mind. I really liked few items here and wanted to buy but my mood was totally ruined and left without nothing. I rather drive an hour to different store then going back here, where I am comfortable and enjoy shopping. please don’t judge people with their looks we had mask on to stay safe and hat was on because it was sunny. We didn’t came to steal. I am never coming back but a little tip for you Make customer feel comfortable and let them explore and I am sure if anyone needs help they will walk to you

Love this store! The service is so friendly and there are so many unique finds. Not your typical hardware store. And that’s a good thing.

I ordered online with Ace Hardware, who delivers to this store. Due to the circumstances of the moment, I was unable to get to the store within the time frame for pickup (5 days). Ten minutes after I got the cancellation email, I called the store. I naively thought, maybe theyd just tell me that it was still there, and if I got there by EOD, it would still be there. Or hold on to it. However, the manager was completely unhelpful in telling me whether it was in stock, and just said that it was the policy. The first person I spoke to sounded like he was 15 and we couldnt even communicate, apparently, because suddenly I was talking to the store manager... ? With coronavirus, you would think that maybe they have the time to relax that cancel policy. Needless to say, I will be re-shopping for my extremely popular and instantly sold-out garden trellis elsewhere! What irks me the most is that shipping time was delayed by a week, which I waited for without taking issue, but as for my own delay in picking up said item, there is no slack.

Surprisingly large, this hardware store seemed to have everything. Staff was proactive in trying to answer questions and were able to help me find an obscure screw type. You can safely skip Home Depot for most of your home projects and come here.

I used to live just across the Panhandle from Cole Hardwares original location on Cole in SF and they were my go-to when I had a project around the apartment so was happy to see them expand across the Bay to Rockridge (I think they were stalking me).Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Pretty good selection of goods. They will special order stuff that they dont have in stock.If you need a specialty tool for just one use ask about their tool lending service. I found out about this when I was guessing at the size of the shower valve wrench Id need and the guy helping me asked me if this was for a project or something Id need long term for multiple uses.Parking can be difficult, but they are near BART, if you can easily carry what youre going to buy.

Too expensive and they have a lot of high priced things that no one really needs. The two main positives about this store are (1) they are open later than most other hardware stores and (2) I understand they are very good to their workers.

Certainly a store with everything and great service too but you pay the price... it’s unbelievably expensive. Unless something is on sale I’d stay away from this place ... yes may even go to the hated Home Depot. Examples: Myers soap products almost twice as expensive some other stores -even other ace hardware stores; Birdseed forget about it, you’ll go broke the prices are a joke. Again, nice people, well stocked, be prepared to pay through the nose (Guess they got to pay for what must be outrageous rent somehow).

Yes, they have Benjamin Moore paint, and they mix it expertly — but the real reason to shop here is the truly incredible staff. Every single person is smart, friendly, and above-and-beyond helpful (Emiel and Kira are especially great, and made a recent home-improvement project a pleasure to complete).The prices are also surprisingly reasonable, especially for a store not backed by the usual corporate megaliths. Absolutely worth a special trip.

Fantastic - we have been needing a real hardware store in the neighborhood for a long time. The place is friendly and well-stocked. I hope that locals can take their business here, as opposed to Home Depot, and help another College Avenue business be successful.

They have way more in here than you would imagine, and the people here are remarkably friendly and helpful. The prices arent always the same as you find on the Ace website, but they are willing to honor the sale prices. Parking is not easy in this busy neighborhood, but if you can get in, you will be able to find most of what you need.

Terrible customer service. called ahead to make sure they have the white noise machines Id like in stock before driving 20 minutes to get them. but turned out the lady on the phone located the wrong ones and didnt make any attempt to look for them in the store. and the cashier wasnt trying to be helpful at all. will not return to this store.

Great store. Sad that the one near my house in Noe Valley was the victom of a terrible fire, but Im glad this one is near my business! Always excellent service, and its SO much easier to find anything here than it is than going to a massive Home Depot, and the staff is a million times more helpful. They have pretty much anything the bigger guys have so keep it local!

My gosh. They have everything. Had to replace an old garbage disposal and they had the same model. Very busy place with 2 big floors of merchandise.

This hardware store has a little bit of everything. Some really niche items and usually youll find what you need here. Sometimes its hard to find some basic stuff though. What they lack in catalog though they make up for in help, they have a wonderful staff who always seem eager to help.

Perfect local hardware store. They ha e everything, including popcorn. The only thing missing is more options for lumber, but thats to be expected since they are a small local store.

I really appreciate having a local hardware store where the staff are helpful and they have a decent selection. Everything is slightly more expensive but the convenience and customer service are what keep me coming back.
