After 2 plus years of hard work and dedication, I am sad to say I was let go from Secret City. I debated over the past few weeks if I should even say anything. Obviously by writing this I made a decision. While I 100% disagree with the decision to let me go. I still wish them all the best and hope they have future success.My review score is solely based on the fact that as a business Secret City Exchange still has room to improve and grow. They are a group of talented individuals that have the potential to make Secret City a standout business that Oak Ridge can be proud of.I am thankful for all the people I had a chance to meet and work with over the past few years. It was a blast sharing my passion for all things nerd with you! I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to say bye to all my loyal customers/friends.

First impressions are important and Secret City Exchange didnt disappoint. I was blown away with this store. The thing that stuck out to me was how organized the entire store was. They have all kinds of video games, DVDs, and comics youd want. I was in the market for a Classic NES game, and I had no trouble finding them. Not only was the section well labeled, but the games themselves were all in alphabetical order. No trouble scanning the titles to find something. Also, the young lady working there was extremely nice and very helpful. I will definitely be going back. **FYI** Dont forget to clean any old cartridge games you buy. I didnt realize that dirty games could cause a game not to play. But after a search on how to clean them, they were up and running like new in no time.

I called to get a quote on a phone repair and was told it would be $80 for the parts and labor with a $21.95 deposit that comes off the total price. Once I dropped it off and had already paid the $21.95, they call and say it will be $110 + tax. When I asked why I was told it would $80 but cost $110 now they said “I don’t know.”. So then they said pay the $110 or no phone. Wouldn’t have taken it to this dump if I knew that. *IMPORTANT* EVERY phone repair shop in Knoxville is cheaper and more professional, take your phone there!!!

Super nice! I brought in 4 heavy boxes of books, mostly old and dusty, and it was no problem. I was also stinky and filthy from cleaning and painting, and that was no problem either. 😊They gave me a great trade deal, so Ill be going back often.

Took off work early to get here before 10pm closing.. 8:30pm already closed. Door says 10am-10pm itself agreeing with the internet time. Now Ive lost money trying to deal with an inconsistent company

My first time coming to this place was very extraordinary. It has many video games to collect for modern and retro, they even have games from the Atari 2600! Definitely going to be coming back once a while! 10/10 👍🏻

Didnt know there was a store like this in Oak Ridge. Everything from collectibles, DnD, Magic the Gathering, video games, anime, movies... A beautiful nerd store right in the heart of Oak Ridge. Great customer service and a great selection!!

I like this place it has so much to offer. Prices are a bit hight which I understand is a business, you can still find good deals if you are a collector of video games I recommend this place.

The service was friendly but most of their comic books were ripped and there were some pretty good ones so it was sad to see them like that

I previously gave them a good review when a man named Craig was working. I went today and picked out my stuff, business as usual although the prices were too high for the quality. We stood at the counter with three workers doing nothing, and just waited standing directly in front of them for over 10 minutes. I’m not even exaggerating. They acted like we didn’t even exist and were making fun of a customer phone call they had just gotten. We finally just decided to put our stuff down and leave. Will never be back. I work retail and it’s not hard to at least acknowledge the customers if you’re too busy to get to them at the moment. They were literally just chatting.

Just what I was looking for!!!!!! Im very happy I went to this store. Organized and plenty of cool games. Im so glade to see a place like this around. Bought PS2 for a good price and everything works.

On website it says they can repair tvs however if you ask in store they say they cant after talking amongst themselves for 15 minutes completely ignoring us

Went in recently and waited teen minutes for help at the register, meanwhile the workers were busy bad mouthing a previous customer. Customer service has gone downhill recently. Craig who I believe still works there is great. I dont know what has happened in the last few months though. Will not be returning, will just stick to eBay.

I loved it. I still enjoy playing my Xbox 360. They have a wide variety of games, movies, and accessories. I got a refurbished controller, and it works just like a brand new one. A+ service. Super friendly staff. I was even impressed by his anime knowledge. He knows who Shin Chan is... Can you say the same? Check them out!!!!

Its a fairly decent. Youll have to hunt down an okay disc because the have no problem selling games that are covered in scratches.

The bags were musty and most of the comics didnt even have bags. There were no prices on any of them and when I went to check out the inept clerk had to get a manager to show him how to ring them up. Then this manager tries to overcharge me for the books I found. When I point out that the price was more than the book lists for this guy actually says that just because it is priced at something on an official priceguide doesnt mean we dont charge more for the book. Huh? What? What kind of business attempts to sell a product for double what something is actually worth? Fair market value is fair market value. If you were dumb enough to originally spend more for something than it is now worth then dont try and cheat the customers just to make up your loss. Have some business ethics. I will never go back into that store and I highly recommend that anyone else find somewhere else to do business

Not bad but not amazing.Fun to wander around and look at the huge selection of games and DVDs. Kinda lacking organization in some areas.Honestly, theyd get a higher rating if they enforced mask-wearing. The staff were wearing masks but many of the other customers were not. It made us really uncomfortable.

Stood in line along with a bunch of other people behind us for over 10 minutes, no one even acknowledged that we were standing in line at the counter, while one guy that works there continued to carry on a full conversation with a customer. We got tired of waiting so we left, and as soon as we got out of line they started checking out the people behind us. Been going here for years but really don’t want to come back after the poor customer service we had today.

The store is always neat and clean with a well organized inventory. The staff are experts and always take the time to help you with all your needs. Friendly and helpful staff! The item I bought was quite a bit overpriced though. I pointed this out by showing them the price for said item from a nearby big chain store competitor and we haggled on the price. I was pleased that they would do this. Yes, even after the agreed upon price was a bit higher than I could have bought it from that big chain store, I was happy to give them my business knowing it was going to a locally owned and operated store rather than a big corporation. I will gladly do business with them again and recommend this business to others!

The store has been wonderful through all incarnations. The workers here care about what they do and enjoy it as well. Definitely recommend as used/well refurbished items are a plus and the amount available and policy ensures both the customer AND the store win. The encouragement and tools used for gamers( cards, consoles, Magic and D&D) is amazing as it is a safe place for ones geek to come out and play.

Imagine shopping at a Pawn Shop but you have to dig through some junk and all of the price tags are literal lies. They need to update their price tags, remove the old ones, or at least put up some signs stating that the prices are all incorrect and that price will be negotiated at register. They check EBay and give you a price from that. You can sometimes find some decent deals but most prices are double what the tag says which is just wrong since you dont know that information until youre already checking out. Ive avoided bringing an item to the register before because I know the tag is wrong. They do have a big collection though, but it can sometimes be hard to find what youre looking for.

There has been quite a bit of drama of this location, but the end results keep getting better & better. Regulars still see familiar faces, and everything is back in place.Yes, you did hear a Dog on the property, but s/he is just a loving puppy. The owner spends a lot of time here with all the work & inventory so the puppy comes with.The selection is still growing daily as they reorganize. Feel free to ask the staff about anything specific or call ahead to get them to look around. Their Used prices compare with eBay. Ask for a disc buffer! Theres plenty if loose discs to pickup from PS1 to Xbox 360 if you have missing or broken ones & still have the case.They have a repair facility, but I fix my own equipment-- but based off of what Ive heard, they can fix most equipment, but charge a pretty penny to fix. The technicians in the back Can fix machines as far back as SNES systems, but not mobile smart phones. Feel free to inquire!

2 hours digging through comics, horribly taken care of. Find a few good ones, take them to the desk and the guy starts pricing them via ebay. Overpriced, uncared for, stay away.Reply: Stay out of comics then, by the look of your books, you dont have any sort of respect for them. By the way you charge for the them, on the spot via Ebay, you have no clear idea what you have or are doing. Anyone can buy a lot of boxes, not everyone has the capacity, knowledge, love of the books to properly sell them. Stick with over pricing old games. Again, stick to McKays or your local comic book shop.

The few times I have been in here, everyone has been super helpful and very kind. Love their huge selection!

I went in for some GameCube games. The guy working was really friendly and took me right to the section I needed. They had a great selection of videos games. You just have to look carefully, otherwise you may miss a gem. I walked out with five new games and some awesome stickers that they were selling at the check out counter. Very happy that I stopped in!

I am always greeted by the store while the staff are enjoying a board/card game together. I love the laid back atmosphere. The Stabler team is knowledgeable and love what they do.Inventory is well organized, stocked, and clean.Great job to the new management!

Since the change in ownership, I have seen incredible improvements in the overall integrity and customer service in this store. They have great prices and a much more welcoming vibe than other electronic/hobby stores. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Their trade values are top notch as well.10/10 would reccomend. Theyre staff makes the entire visit worth it, even if youre only in there to look around.

Great store very affordable and helpful service

I would give them a 1, but the staff is decent overall. The place has a great selection, that can’t be denied. They give decent trade credit as well. The biggest two problems are that almost nothing is organized and at least half of their stuff (including ALL of their comics) isn’t priced, so getting checked out can take forever and you don’t know what you might potentially spend until you get to the counter. On top of that, they claim to use “several” websites for pricing comics, and whatever sites they use are almost always ridiculously overpriced. As I said, the staff is pretty decent and the selection is great, but there are many much better organized places to go. If they’d get a couple people to organize and price things, they could be amazing.
