The Sugar Beet Food Co-op is a delightful place. Everytime I go I notice new interesting products and special touches. I love that they have fresh grab and go snack and meal options. They also have a wonderful juice bar and other freshly made food options. Lots of interesting products I have never seen before. Always fun to eat and try new food! They have a very nice spice section, aromatherapy, face and body products, vitamins, supplements and a lot more! The prices are good. They have alot of locally grown produce and meats. I think its cool how they try and be eco-freindly as possible. They even have re-usable bags for your groceries you can borrow and bring back the next time. The staff seems overall very commited to the mission of the co op. When I asked more about the place they said that it is open to everyone to shop and there are individuals in the community that invested in the business to get it up and running. I would definitely recommend checking out Sugar Beet..even if your not super healthy enthusiast- I think you would still find it a yummy and fun experience!

I was excited to visit this Co-op, but disappointed and uncomfortable when I entered. The greeter had headphones on, looking at her phone and eating chips out of a bag. And of course to be eating a bag of chips, your mask has to be down. That should really be left for breakroom time. Then when I entered the produce department, the reason I came to the Co-op, I was shocked by the cleanliness. Or should I say the lack there of.Obliviously no daily cleaning or pride in produce presentation. The mold furbee I saw next to the baby broccoli takes more than 1 day to grow. It looks like systemic laziness. The veggies also looked sad, untrimmed and not hydrated (kale and chard especially)As a organic farmer and an employee of a Co-op produce department, Im shocked. Especially since we both belong to the same Co-op network, I expected some basic standards. What I saw was not healthy and no pride or standards. It was just as dirty as a Meijer produce department. Now that I ripped off the bandaid without warning, I loved the To-go sandwiches and salads. Great recipes and fantastic prices. All staff are awesome, kind and helpful. The rest of the store was clean and nice as well.I hope this helps improve practices and produce sales. The produce should carry the store, especially as it is the first thing you see when you enter. Make it your pride and joy!!

You dont shop here for the price (update: but then, I could be wrong 🙂). You shop here because its like a true old fashioned organic coop place without getting all corporate like whole foods. They have a lot of the same brands, but they also have stuff you cant find at the big stores like a good selection of gluten free pizza dough. Their meat selection is very nice, as is their selection of craft beer and wine. And its relaxing to shop there.

To me this place feels like a smaller scale version of Whole Foods. A regular shopper will not find a lot of the typical weekly shopping items here, but if you are looking for some very good quality and variety in fresh produce, you will likely be pleased. And you can buy small amounts. They also have many options of healthful beverages, and a fresh selection of sandwiches and salads. The coffee bar is very good. They even have many wine and beer options.

Love this place! Great for 0 wasters. You can even get shampoo and conditioner. Id like for there to be a way to buy their dried fruit without the baggies, but I understand why they offer it the way they do.And its not just food, theyve got jars, DIY kits, and ethically sourced goodies for gifts or interesting experiments. As far as food-based bulk, theyve got the standard grains, staples, and spices, but they also have tea, honey, maple syrup, and even beeswax.Seriously cool store. If you become a member you get 5% off a month and can get your receipt emailed to you too!

In March:Clean. Sanitary. Takes capacity limits seriously. Takes masks and hand sanitizer seriously. Tells you to self bag outside.I agree on what other reviews are saying about high prices and limited variety of fresh produce. They do offer a Food For All program if you have Medicaid or SNAP.October:Some of these employees are very rude and snippy. Please do not condescend your customers. Do not sarcastically tell someone that CBD items are not covered under SNAP and then demand to know how they will pay for it. Well how are you paying for this then?! Cash or card?!Magic fairy dust.I caught a few employees wearing masks on their chins or leaving their noses out. Some of them will ask you to leave your backpack or purse outside. No.Im not leaving my stuff unattended so my wallet and valuables will get stolen.Sweetie, if you think my purse or backpack has covid germs on it, I can guarantee that all of your plastic and paper bags have covid germs, too.

Sugar Beet is my new favorite grocery store. Like all grocery stores, it doesnt have everything, but it excels in some key areas for me: local organic produce, all kinds of interesting flours, many in bulk, and a great selection of vegan items (chocolate!) that you cant find anywhere else. Sugar Beet is also fantastic in that it is smallish and you can shop quickly and easily, selection is pretty wide (hello organic wines), and the people are friendly. And they donate to needy local businesses. Plus its close to my home and easy to park my car or ride my bike.

Happy place! Best produce, made by farmers you see dropping off and offering tastings of their cared for crops. Be an occasional shopper, a co-owner or member for life. As well as being a hub for the local community, Sugar Beet store is committed to providing a consistently brilliant in-store experience, allowing customers living in a busy urban area to get what they want, when they want for a reasonable price. The co-op offers workshops, cooking classes and childrens camps at another location. In store, there is an excellent selection of organic, local and sustainable beers and wines along with locally made blueberry honey mead and other unique finds. Tons of snacks, yogurts, fermented foods and beverages. We love their to-go sandwiches, soups and salads. My one gripe would be the same that I generally express regarding most of these types of places... would be nice if the prices were a bit more accessible to poorer folks or at least had options for poorer folks. They have these jars in which if you dont use a bag or use your own bag you get to put a token in one of these jars which represents a dollar going towards one of those charities. Why not just have that dollar go straight towards people who are hungry? Seeing that its a grocery store and all. Most of this is more of a social economic review and has nothing to do with the quality of the store I think its a great store. That spicy jackfruit sandwich which they make fresh there is probably one of my most favorite sandwiches on the planet.
