Dr. Benning is old school doc, but he is extremely experienced and no BS mentality. Within 5 mins he was able to identify my eye issues and the type that don’t force me to buy anything I don’t need. I always go back to him for my annual exams and checkups. Awesome bedside manners, always good conversations and listens/answers to any questions or concerns I have. I wish there are more doctors like him unlike these other new ophthalmologist /glass stores just care about making a profit. A++++

Doctor is amazing he deserves 5 stars. Good luck getting someone to answer the phone. Im just sitting here waiting for my glasses. Its the 23rd, I ordered them the 6th. Their VM is always full. If you call at 4:55pm they hang up on you. I drove up there Monday morning and they were closed. Their hours on their door are different from the ones online.

After going to a 2 for cheap place last time, it was so refreshing and reassuring to go to Dr. Benning and his staff. They were all thorough and attentive. I will definitely go back.

I had contacts exam at this location. The doctor is friendly and knowledgeable but the receptionist Betty has a rude tone and very unwelcoming. This place gave me written paper prescriptions, how outdated! While this bothered me, this is a minor issue. Now, I called them to order contact lenses through them and Betty was asking for my insurance info again in her rude voice...they do not have a copy of that..really? Again, I need to have my member ID and all my info. Last 15 years I have worn contacts, any provider was able to look up my info from my personal details, but not this place. They need my member ID from my insurance, which they should have in the first place because I saw them 2 weeks ago. Come on! If you want to have a good client base, is this how you operate a healthcare business? I can recommend the optometrist but not the place. My first and last time to that place. I would give 5 stars for the Doctor but my experience because of Betty is less than a star.

The initial experience and final experience was very unpleasant. The lady that answered the phone was very cold and almost dismissive. She kept calling me by my last name even when corrected. When it was time to choose the frames, she offered very little assistance. The selection was limited. Saw a few frames that were okay but didn’t quite fit. When I asked if they could be adjusted or if they had longer arms, I got a quick and curt “No.” When I picked up my glasses, I asked for a copy of my prescription. The receptionist said she had already given it to me the first time. I told her that I may have misplaced and asked if she could give me a copy. She said no, that’s why she gave me the script on my initial visit. She then proceeded to go on and work on what she was working on. Very rude and dismissive. And she had the nerve to give me a comment card when I received my glasses!!!Dr. Benning, on the other hand, was very nice and professional. Was personable and did a good job explaining what he was looking for. Even shared common experience of my hometown (cool that he asked). Would not ever go back because of the initial and final experiences. It’s a shame because Dr. Benning was really good.

Very nice place as long as you do all your business there! If you get your prescription and want to take it somewhere else, good luck!!! Im in New Mexico, I ran out of contacts, called to get my prescription and they magically lost my file!!! Yes, I should of had my copy on me, but they shouldnt have lost my file

Very disappointed. I wasted my time and my money. The new pair of glasses where cutting into my ear. I asked the salesperson to put screw in my old glasses. She did. I told her new pair very uncomfortable. I put my old glasses on and said they feel fine. She took my old pair and readjusted the piece that goes over the ear. I went home. Could not wear the new pair or the old pair. I called to complain. They told me to come back. I did they readjusted my old pair and my new pair. They told me to keep coming back until they fit. I don’t have the time to keep going back for an adjustment. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED! Do not go there!!!

Dr Benning is absolutely fantastic!! I found him to be efficient effective and super personable. If you are looking to get a current contact prescription at a reasonable price I can’t recommend Dr Benning highly enough. Most places I called wanted $200+ to do an exam and prescription but it was only $120 here. Fair warning It took a week for them to order the trial pair of contacts and get them in. I never got a price for additional contacts or glasses. So if your looking for a cheap eye exam that is done well come here and see Dr Benning you won’t be disappointed.

My review is about the particular optometrist that performs the eye exams here. I have been wearing glasses for the last 22 years of my life and Dr. Benning is by far the best optometrist I have ever seen! He is so kind and willing to listen to and answer all your questions and he does a great thorough exam. I would highly recommend him!

The stars are for Teresa and Dr Benning only and every bit of help you gave me. Dr Benning is great, staff other than Betty is awesome. This lady Betty is negative, hateful and if she doesnt like to work she needs to retire. My rep was awesome, very sweet and was learning the difficulty of my insurance and the benefits. I was even confused. Teresa was very helpful and patient with all of my questions. Betty even refused while Teresa was finishing up my order, and invoice to answer the phone and she was sitting right beside it. She said will you get the phone. I have no issues with the Dr.,or any of the staff just Betty. She was rude even on the phone. I refuse to even deal with her. With her treating people as if they are less than her. I want to say Thank you Teresa for all of your help, understanding and patience with me and my insurance, and Dr Benning for our great conversations and my exam.

I have been using this Pearle Vision location for 25 years. Dr. James Benning does an outstanding job, he is personable, and does a through exam in a short amount of time. There is no waiting, he values your time as well as his own. The staff immediately treat you as family. If you don’t know them when you go, you will by the time you leave. I highly recommend this Pearle location !!!

I’ve been wearing glasses for night vision and for reading far away for several years. I had a great experience when I went 3 weeks ago. Dr.Benning is by far the best optometrist I’ve ever seen. My new prescription works better than any prescription I’ve ever had, it feels great to finally see the right way.Dr. Benning and his staff Betty and Teresa were very professional and very helpful during my visit and return visit picking glasses. I strongly encourage if you’re looking for a great optometrist to go see Dr. Benning and enjoy your new prescription seeing better than you ever have.

Dr. Benning is great seen me as a last minute walk in for an eye exam and was quick. I was in and out of there in 15 mins with my new prescription.

This review is for Dr Benning.He is an excellent optometrist! My wife and I have been coming here for a several years. Dr B is very calm and well mannered with his patients. He does a thorough exam which includes a digital picture of your optic nerve (nothing scary, never any pain). We dont plan to go anywhere else for our eyes.If you live near Richardson, he works there too on beltline. Cant say much for Pearle Vision. I order my glasses and contacts online.

The groupon for this place is misleading. You MUST purchase lenses that cost more than $200.00. Not that great of a deal considering then glasses cost so much. Its a good way to get people in the door but Im not going back.

Dr. Benning was excellent!! This Groupon purchase was for my husband. The doctor is very nice and down to earth, makes one feel comfortable and valued. Will return for myself next time I need an exam. Thanks Dr. Benning.

They told my girlfriend that she didn’t need to buy the Groupon for their special rate and then over charged us $100 and won’t refund us because we didn’t get the Groupon. These guys are scammers, beware.

Dr Benning. Is awesome 👏 and he is very thorough. But the two ladies that work the frame department seem “nice” but the prices are overpriced and scams are involved. I would steer clear from this location. Or just see dr benning and take your prescription somewhere else.
