A 5 star brunch experience!!The location and atmosphere is amazing. We came on a Saturday for brunch after searching out a place that offers veggie and vegan options as well as typical breakfast options.Their menu did not disappoint and absolutely proves that veggie / vegan does NOT mean no flavour! We were both very happy with our dishes and can’t wait to try something new next visit.The staff were amazingly kind even though they were very busy and pushed the experience over the top to 5 stars.Thank you Dinner Deluxe - see you next time!
Waiting 45 minutes to an hour after seating for food. Ordered eggs for the breakfast poutine poached hard, got medium instead.Didnt bother to refill our drinks for 45 minutes until we asked.We asked for water and had to ask again after 45 minutes as they never got it and they didnt seem to care when we brought it up.Inquired about wait time for food after about 45 minutes, and were told Yup. Were just waiting for the kitchen, okay? Before walking away.My friend also had hot coffee spilled over him and they either didnt notice or didnt care, but no apology was issued.One would figure that being in a rich people area, that they would be able to hire workers who actually care.The only reason Im giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food had decent flavour to it.
Really enjoyed our meals...cant wait to try more on the menu. Was really impressed that most meals are customizable, so was easy for this vegetarian to find lots of choices. My sister was offered a coffee to go as part of her refillable coffee, which we thought was a really great touch...just that extra something that makes you want to go back.
We were very excited to try this place. We were understandably told by the hostess it would be a 15-20 minute wait. Our pager buzzed after about 20 minutes so we went back to be seated. The hostess told us our table wasnt ready yet and when I asked for another time estimate, she told me its hard to provide an estimate but maybe 20 minutes, maybe ten minutes. Ive never been to a restaurant where they couldnt provide a decently accurate wait time. I hope youre able to reorganize how you assign tables and wait times soon.
I had a pleasant experience at diner deluxe. We waited a long time because someone crossed out our name off the waiting list but the staff was prompt to seat us and offered to pay for our drinks! The service was excellent and the food was great! It was my first time and I will definitely be back, especially for their oatmeal!
Food is always great, staff is friendly and on the ball. Homemade hot sauce is next level!
My fiancé and I were helping some friends out in deep South Calgary and we wanted a good breakfast to start our morning. We are longtime fans of their Bridgeland Diner Deluxe location and were excited to try out the Mahogany location, which did not disappoint! The food is tasty, the coffee is strong and the service from our server, Robin, is amazing.
Been here 3 times and have never left hungry. Great portions and delicious flavors. The chicken and waffles are very tasty, especially the syrup they make in house. The stuffed French toast is spot on too as well as the Belgian waffle with the whipped mascarpone. Sooo good I look forward to our next visit!
Everything Ive eaten there is amazing. If you are looking for comfort food then this is the place to go. The chicken and waffles will knock your socks off. Service is excellent, and the staff are super friendly. I cannot praise this place enough.

I had a waffle with a fruit bowl. I ate a grape and it had jalapeno taste all over. Then, i found a mold on my blueberry. I told the server and they only took off coffee from the bill. I felt that wasnt fair but didnt want to make a scene so I left.. fancy looking restaurant but poor quality control. it was a very disappointing experience.

Had a GREAT experience here on Saturday. Our server Gillian was so friendly and incredibly attentive. She offered great suggestions on the menu and modified the special to fit my dietary requirements (it was AMAZING!) It was loud but everyone there was having a great time and enjoying their food so it wasn’t an issue.Will 100% be back to this gem, soon.
Below average food - above average price. Ham tasted like it was boiled & gamey (perhaps reheated?), dishes were cold, other food bland, and took 50 minutes to serve. Waited 15 minutes to get a coffee, and no refill until after dinner was finally served.First time I have not full-tipped in years. diner deluxe...not a recommendation.
Diner Deluxe is newly opened in Mahogany and I’m so glad we have this spot in the south! The eggs benedicts were a hit but the favourite was definitely the potato rosti.Great ambience with modern 50s decor and the usual mid-century modern aesthetic.They serve Phil and Sebastian coffee and do have bags available for purchase of their own personal blend.Come early as they don’t take reservations.
We had great breakfast with great service. The receptionist was great and also the waitres as well.

Food is good. Service is horrible. Hubby and I were there on labour day Monday. After standing in line for 15 minutes to even get to see the front desk, we were met by a hostess who proceeded to tell us it would be about a 30 to 45 minute wait. We agreed to wait and she put our name down. After an hour had passed, i went in to see if I could get an update on how much longer. The hostess, seemingly annoyed by my question, informed me that she couldnt give me an estimate on how long because it was to hard to predict. I went back outside where my husband was and we decided to just wait for a couple more minutes. As I was standing outside I noticed 7 EMPTY tables. We waited 15 more minutes until I went in again. I was yet again told by the hostess that she wasnt sure how much longer it would be. At that point I asked her why we couldnt be sat at ANY of the 7 open tables, in which the hostess replied i need to keep those open in case a bigger group comes and we need to push them together. Another man standing behind me asked about all the empty tables as well at which point the hostess huffed and muttered something under her breath and led my husband and I to a table. After an hour and 15 minutes, when we were finally sat at our table, we waited 15 minutes for our waiter to even come acknowledge us. Once our waiter finally took our drink order, those said drinks took another 20 minutes to come. After we finally ordered, our food took another 30 minutes. All and all....we were there for THREE hours. I will not be going back. Yes, the food is good....but not worth waiting 3 hours for. Next time we will probably just go to Rickys, Canadian Brewhouse or the Brokn yolk down the street. Sometimes these hipster style breakfast places are all about their image and instagram worthy decor.....this is one if those places.
There aren’t very many good brunch places in the south but stumbling across this place has definitely changed my mind on that. It’s such a cute little diner and the food was AMAZING! We will definitely be returning to Diner Deluxe.
Similar to my experience at the Aspen location, the food and service was excellent. The decor and overall ambiance of the diner was really modern and funky. It’s child friendly with a little reading nook and blackboard area for kids. There’s lots of families around so you don’t feel bad coming there with your kids if their a little loud. They do not take reservations but I didn’t find the diner to be overly busy, especially for brunch. We got in right away and didn’t have to wait too long for our food to arrive. I had the granola parfait (my usual go to is the vegan scramble) and it was delicious!! The flavors were amazing and it’s my new favorite along with the bottomless Phil and Sebastian coffee.
Diner Deluxe has become one of our top brunch places to go visit, the eggs benny are the best you can get in town! I am very happy that they opened a diner deluxe down south!

We had a wonderful and delicious meal here last weekend! Service was a little slow (so my coffee wasnt as bottomless as I would have liked) but they were also very busy. We will definitely be back!
Food is amazing. Service is not.Two years in a row - Pre-order Mother’s Day breakfast and they disappoint.Last year they were 1.5 hours after the 40 min quoted time on the food order (we had to make our own) - This year I phoned to double check to ensure skip the dishes was the correct way to order. Didn’t want to screw up like last year. Woke up at 6:30 to Pre-order (as it was suggested by the restaurant to do)… they cancelled my order 15 min before it was supposed to be delivered. No one will answer the phone and they cut off skip the dishes…..The food there is so good. The pandemic is hard. When everything is back to normal, I will go back to support local. Keep low expectations of service and you will be super happy.
Would be 0 stars if I could. We placed an order 9:30 for takeout, time was supposed to take 60-70 minutes so we arrived at 10:40 and was told our food would be ready in a minute. We sat down to wait checking in the the greeter every 10 minutes for the status and got the same thing “yea sorry we’ll have it in a minute”. At 11:45 we asked to speak to with someone else to check in with someone else, turns out our order wasn’t even in so the greeter was blatantly lying to our face and didn’t bother checking the status, just told us to keep waiting. In the end they refunded our order and got the food done quickly after that but doesn’t change the fact with how unimpressed I am with their service
Love having this in the South. Went around noon on a weekday, and had no problem getting a table. Staff was friendly, and made sure my coffee was always full. And gave me a to-go coffee when we left!Breakfast available all day, so we got the huevos rancheros and meatloaf hash. Both great, with giant portions. The jam is magic. The menu is a little pricey for everyday, though.Super trendy style, with a mid-century aesthetic. Makes for cute selfies. :)

Today I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. Extremely disappointing. The restaurant was full, I was waiting 30 min when I asked the stuff about the waiting time and he replied: you dont see that its full, what do you want me to do? do you want me to prepare your food myself?Ive never been so poorly attended in my life, this guy was unpoliye, extremely rude.If the restaurant does not have enough stuff, do not open the doors or hire more.If they do not know how to handle with pressure, they should not work with service.I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Best place to eat in Mahogany. Staff is amazing and friendly. It is soooo good that it is always busy, so you may have to wait for a table.
Great food but felt very rushed by server. Nothing worse than getting your bill before your are finished eating.
Lets just say to begin with, I rarely if ever do not leave a tip. This was one of the exceptions. The food is good. The service is better at McDonalds. It stems from the manager. I honestly feel sorry for the staff. Once we got seated, we were served by the manager. We put in our drink orders, waiting a little no issue or concern yet. Our drinks come and we put in our food orders, as well as waters for the table. One of us ordered the banana fosters French toast, 2 ordered breakfast poutines one with medium poach, one hard poached, and I ordered the west coast smashed avocado toast with soft poached eggs. This is where things go down hill. It was a fair bit of 15 ish minutes and I ask about getting some more coffee and what our ETA was on the waters for the table. The manager was like oh yeah k 4 waters yeah, like it didnt even register. Once the waters came it had been a good 25 ish minutes since we ordered food, and I asked how long do you think food would be, got a very snarky comment of its still being cooked. Food comes out, one of the breakfast poutines is soft poached, one is medium poached, banana fosters French toast is good, smashed avocado toast one soft one hard. I get it things happen, misdates are made. I mention the hard poached egg so it can be noted, and the manager was in the same very snarky tone, so do you want another one, or do you want me to take it off, what do you want. No apology, no acceptance of wrong doing or even acknowledgement of the situation. The last straw was I was seated next to one of the hutches where they have there POS system / Place there coffee pots. It was bumped, I dono by who, but it was bumped and I got some coffee spilled on me. Absolutely nothing was done, no apology or even acknowledgement that it had happened. I have been to both dinner deluxes in Calgary. The food is decent and the service at the bridgeland one is excellent. The one in Mahogany food is decent, Management needs to be changed, a full 180. I will not be returning until this issue is addressed. I hope the Owners of the Diner Deluxe do read this review as there is a Serious Management problem at this location, and you will have a great deal of trouble keeping good staff and clientele until it is fixed.
Planned to go for breakfast here and showed up to find out the wait time. I was told 45 minutes roughly and asked to be placed on the wait list. Almost an hour later after not receiving any text notification I went back I. And asked and was told it would be another “20 minutes” however the tablet with my name on it clearly said 45 minutes. So I was flat out lied to. The greeter then proceeded to tell me that unfortunately they can’t make people leave. Well if you’ve got waiting customers ready to pay money and customer loitering after finishing their food. Maybe you actually can politely ask them to move on. I get with covid and decreased capacities wait times will be long. But don’t lie to me and tell me “45 minutes” when the reality is 2 hours.

Fantastic interior. I had the Beef Chili Cheese Hash ($18.50) and bottomless Phil & Sebastian coffee ($3.75). The hash was delicious, with perfectly poached eggs a great balance of flavours. Will return to try more dishes.Washrooms (also pretty) havechange tables.Got to talk to a really nice gal who was not our server, our server was a little slow with the refills considering there were only a few tables in the restaurant at the time.Glad they opened up! Brunch is getting better in the deep south!

Lovely atmosphere, the fried chicken and waffles were superb if a little over browned at the edges for my liking, but were saved by the fantastic Habenero house sauce! Which they gave me a to go container of (A+ service) over all a solid stop for anyone transiting through Calgary! I also appreciated being called honest for turning in a phone someone left in the mens room (like I would keep someones life)

I went there on Friday night and there was a note saying that one of their staff members had been in contact with someone with COVID. They closed for the night but yet opened again the next morning, I noticed this as I walked by. Although they claim that the staff member tested negative I believe the restaurant should be closed for some time as we don’t know if the test was correct and the staff member was in contact with the other staff. Very risky especially for those who are high risk or live with someone who is. This is completely unacceptable! AHS should be doing something about this, they are risking the lives of others.

One of the best breakfasts Ive had in Calgary. I ordered chicken & waffles; waffles were perfect (with a dash of jalapenos to balance the maple butter and syrup), chicken was crispy and moist. Absolutely delicious.My wife wife had the chicken & waffle bennies, same story... except with a fantastic apple relish!Do yourself a favor and come here for breakfast. Just try to ignore the confusingly awful music choices they make.
Had breakfast here today and ordered the maple fried oatmeal. In a word... uniquely OUTSTANDING!!! The lemon curd truly compliments the dish and I would come back just for that. Portion sizes are deceiving. Be sure to come hungry as you wont leave disappointed.

Based on Calgary Bylaws and the CDC website, I have a medical exemption.One of your waitresses as we were leaving, said that we could not get up without wearing a mask.I discussed my medical exemption and she said it didnt matter that I had one, it is our company policy.If this is your policy, I will definitely never visit here again.My problem is how it was handled and the lack of consistency. If this is what your company is choosing to do, thats the companys choice but be consistent. Enforce it at the beginning and make sure your staff knows how to handle this.No where else has given me a hard time about my medical condition.If this is just a strict company policy you need to enforce it at the door. I wouldve been fine going anywhere else, instead of being seated maskless and then being accosted at the end about it.Very unimpressed with how this is handled, especially making your staff do the enforcing.I have come here regularly since 2013. This will be my last visit.If youre going to enforce it hard, you shouldve turned me away BEFORE you took our money.

Expensive, but the portions are big, so come hungry! I had stuffed French toast and it was delicious. Im quite disappointed that every table was being seated, and they were definitely not 2 meters apart! We didnt feel super comfortable as the restaurant filled up and we wanted to get out of there!
Nice decor, clean, great staff, and the place has a Palm Springs vibe. More importantly though, the food is delicious and theres plenty of it. Drinks are good too, just wish they had some freshly squeezed fruit juices. The chicken & waffles are my personal favorite dish to order. They come loaded with jalapenos, maple syrup, maple butter and hot sauce. Its the perfect breakfast for me. If youre not a fan of spicy food though, there are plenty of other delicious options to choose from. This place is top notch in my books! Definitely looking forward to going back again soon!

Went in for a simple takeout order and had the worst restaurant experience ever..and from the manager! No menus, use your phone to watching her play with her hair over the food pickup, to .. we dont do a little money back for no hash browns NEWS FLASH i didnt ask for a discount. In fact I paid $40 for a breakfast sandwich and simply asked that it be split in 2. Server gets the star. Sorry I walked out on the bossy boss
Diner deluxe was fantastic! Just as good as the north location. Really enjoyed the choices. Decor is well thought out and the tables layout provides ability to get bigger groups in if you want. It can get a bit noisy as there is. It enough sound absorbing but it’s manageable. The parking situation is however strange but not the fault of the restaurant. Machine is wacky and signs are not super clear. There apparently there ground parking which is probably a better alternative to the street parking.
Went here for breakfast last week. Didn’t wait long to get a table which was nice, but that’s kinda where the good part ended. They took our order and when the food came out my partners was wrong. No one came back to ask how we were doing except at the end when we were ready to leave. The frittata was soggy and a pool of liquid left in the bottom of the dish. I ordered a waffle and there’s must have been some cross contamination because I ended up viciously ill resulting in missing work. When I sent a friendly email to give them a heads up they didn’t even have the decency to respond. Will never visit again or recommend to anyone. If zero stars was an option, that’s what they’d get. Also, please remind your waiters and hostess that masks are supposed to cover their entire face, not just their chin, and please don’t touch your face and outside of your masks and then handle our plates..

Bad experience today at diner deluxe. After walking in and being asked if I had a mask and mentioning that I do have a medical exemption, we were seated and served our breakfast as normal. After paying the bill and standing up, we were told that since we were standing that we needed to wear a mask. After once again explaining that we have medical exemptions we were told clearly that doesnt matter, this is our company policy. It is extremely poor that this was the approach by your staff members especially since if this was an issue, this should have been very clearly stated that we werent welcome prior to being seated. Essentially being told that our health does not matter after you now had our money shows a clear lack of clarity on the bylaw in Calgary as well as inadequate training of your staff to ensure that the messaging is 100% congruent. I would have been more than happy to find another place to go for breakfast if things were very clear upon entering and we werent seated. However after having a decent meal and then being accosted by your staff completely ruined the experience.

Great location with modern yet casual decor. The food and service here are top notch, with satisfying portion sizes, and great attentive staff.There is a good range of choice, and the kids menu doesnt seem like an afterthought.Everything, from reception to the facilities is clean and well kept, however the establishment is quite small, so expect to wait during typical dining hours.Parking is also not in abundance, however there is pay parking and Street parking to be had. Prices are a bit of the higher side as well, but the food is prepared and presented well (kids menu included), and you will get service with a smile.

We live nearby and have never been before, so my wife and I wandered down this Sunday morning to give breakfast a try. We always love it when menus are filled with things that look delicious. Both my wifes breakfast poutine (with chorizo sausage) and my breakfast burrito were fabulous. But, perhaps better than both the delightful menu and delicious meal was our server, Lindsay. She was nothing short of spectacular in all categories: friendliness, menu knowledge, and attentiveness. Were going to bring our kids in and ask for her again. Thanks Lindsay and Diner Deluxe... well be back.
Nothing really special about this place. The ambiance is modern and nice, but the food was average and leans towards a little pricy for what we got in quality. We ordered the eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce came out cold and thick, we were told this is how it was supposed to be served from the waitress, we asked for new hollandaise sauce and the second helping was a tad warmer but still cold and thick. Might give it another try later but was not impressed.
Very popular breakfast place in the deep south serving solid food. I had their potato rosti, a Swiss dish, that was prepared as good or better than any Ive had in Switzerland. Highly recommended. Park in underground heated parking garage and register your license plate for 2 hours free parking. A nice bonus on a cold January morning.

Loved the original Diner Deluxe downtown and since Im in the southeast, thought this was a no brainer. This is nothing like the downtown Diner. Definitely a diner feel with some booths and very loud. We were there with kids and couldnt hear them. Went for a Sunday lunch so parking was relatively easy. Were seated pretty quickly and the waitress was over pretty quick. I think they used all their speed force on that cause everything else was painfully slow, except the final bill which arrived instantaneously. 35 minutes from order to service. Very slow for a diner. Food was almost as good as downtown with very premium prices. 3 kids meals and a couple of burgers and it totalled $78. Thats without extra drinks, any booze or dessert. Not impressed.
