Im writing a review because the owner Moe seems to be responsive on reviews. First of all, this is probably a traditionally old store undergoing a modernization. So no fancy automatically open and closed doors for you at the entrance.Second of all, the lights near the cashiers/registers seem a bit dark. It makes it seem shady. The biggest turnoff is that their perimeter is the meat section, not produce. When you follow shop the perimeter advice, it may not be necessarily what youre looking for, such as fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables. You have to go to walk past the meat section to the other side of the store to find the produce. My recommendation to the owner Moe is to get rid of the attached restaurant and put grocery there instead. And of course re-organize the layout so that customers can find produce in the perimeter. The restaurant is a bit weird because nobody expects to go through a grocery store to get to the entrance of a restaurant.Having severs there make customers wonder if theres a hotel inside the grocery store. When everything is shutdown, restaurants are not essential. Grocery stores/supermarkets are. Cut your losses. If not for the location, this review would have been a 1-to-2-star review.
The 3 star/1 star reviews below basing a review off of lighting are crazy - dont listen to them. If you care about hot foods quality, listen up. My family and I have been eating from BF for 3 yrs - now that were moving out of NYC, felt compelled to write reviews for our favorite go-to spots as a thank you. BFs hot/cold foods section is hands down one of the most underrated spots in NYC. The quality of the sushi is mindblowing (better than that at high-end sushi restaurants)- so fresh it melts in your mouth. The sandwiches, which weve ordered possibly 50+ times to date, has never disappointed. From the bread, to meat quality, to the way they prep it...it should be like $12 but its only $8+drink of choice. OH, and the staff from hot foods section is so friendly, they used to give my toddler free samples. So long BF, well miss you. Thanks for all the $ saved and the amazing meals.
I have not been so harshly approached and shouted at for a very long time. I did not expect it at all from my neighborhood supermarket that I frequent literally every other day.I came in quickly with my service dog for a few things, as I do often. My dog had an accident in the check out line. Mortified and shocked, I asked for cleaning supplies from staff and cleaned it up myself before checking out.Once I crossed the street just outside the store, a male employee began shouting at me to come back. I turned back around to return assuming I needed to explain further and apologize. Yet, I needed to cross back over the street and there were cars coming. The employee irately insisted I cross the street that moment while cars were whizzing by. I tried to explain that I am coming and kept checking to cross the street and the man continued to berate and harass me that I must cross at that instant and risk myself while there was moving traffic. He did not stop screaming at me until we re-entered the store.I apologized again and again and pointed to where it had happened and how showed that I had cleaned it. Only then, in front of other customers and staff did he finally let me go saying next time please hold the dog. I agreed and left.So scary and insulting. He’s not a staff member I recognize from my regular visits. Maybe he works for the restaurant in the back. Who knows. All I know is it was highly unnecessary to speak so harshly and wildly at a young woman with a small dog. I did not harm anyone, I took full responsibility for the mess made and I am a regular customer whom other staff members recognize and could vouch for. He must have had something up his butt and decided to take it out on me. So unprofessional!
Avoid purchasing food items from here. The food I have bought from here has always been of bad quality - minced meat smelled funky and I had to discard it, Horizon Milk went bad in 2 days even though it was refrigerated (and use by date was later), Corn had fungus in it when I peeled it open, strawberries got fungus in them in just 1 day inside the fridge, pita bread also got mould in barely a day. Please note - this NEVER happens to me when I buy from other stores like Whole Foods or Food Emporium.I have stopped shopping from Brooklyn Fare as the food is highly questionable. Buy at your own risk.
I used to really like this grocery store - the store itself is still really nice, but there is ZERO mask policy or enforcement. It was decently busy and most people in there didnt have a mask at all - including the cashier. It made me really uncomfortable and Im not going back unless I hear theyve turned this around, otherwise I guess Ill have to wait for the pandemic to end.
A medium-sized store with some interesting stuff.
I cant say enough good things about this place.A wonderful and most welcome addition to the #HYHK community. This store is huge and they carry nearly everything. They have your regular brand items and they have most specialty items too.Lots of selection in many areas, international cuisine, produce, meats, fish, cheeses, breads, its really a good spot.My new favorite grocery store!
Great location in Hudson yards neighborhood. The establishment is very spacious. They have a variety of so many things in this supermarket. They carry different brands in a lot of varieties. Cleaning supplies, pets food is just part of their varieties. They have a deli in the inside. Pre made food as well. The customer service was quick and efficient. Big selection of gourmet food. I totally recommend this supermarket. Handicap accessible entrance.
I love going to Brooklyn Fare. The store is big, but has small aisles...but theres so much here! Not to mention the selection, helpful employees, and selection of products. Like a specialty store without high prices. It smells really good, too.
The store has a big variety of products and lots of choices. But i purchased already pre-packaged marinated meat one day to make some tacos at home, and it had very funky odor and taste after cooking, obviously it was not fresh. Will not buy meat there anymore.
The supermarket with the most impressive assortments and varieties above 34th Street in Manhattan. However, given the absence of clear floor plan on display, the layout of the store is as confusing as a meze especially for the first time shoppers there. After shopping there for several months, I have encountered numerous pricing errors due to dated price information in the system while the cashiers were usually cold and reluctant to check the correct price.
Visited Brooklyn Fare for the first time as I just moved into the neighbourhood. The store layout is a little confusing but they try to make it easy through big signs on top of each aisle. However some of the signs were blank so I had trouble finding stuff. The staff at the store was kinda snobbish. I asked someone who worked there where could I find a cart and they said they didn’t know which can’t possibly be true. Cashiers were curt and didn’t seem friendly. It’s a shame I won’t be coming here again because this is the closest store to my building.
Amazing deli sandwiches! Try the number 18…you won’t regret it
Great selection, can find almost anything youre looking for.
A unbelievably fresh produce, breads, coffee, and fresh daily made deli-style, but gourmet menued counters...and the staff is quick, knowledgeable courteous! And the prices are beautifully, unbelievably low!
Great little store... Got some great cheese advice here!
Enjoyable walk from my house on West 42nd and 11th, quaint early AMERICANA feel with urban vibe., #newton #gloriaWon
Great local grocery store. Moderate Prices
Amazing staff my favorite place for organic fruits and vegetables 😋
Youre very welcome!! You guys have a great shop! I love going to it!
It’s a bit expensive but the stuff they sell is great. So much variety, fresh fruits, everything. Love it. And I love that there was always upbeat music being played when I was there, that made me happy.
I love there sandwiches especially the no 17. Its the best. Decent prices and I feel lucky when I catch sales.
Many of the items are fresh. However, the attitude of the women at the cash register is very messy and terrible. 10/18 We visited. I bought five cans of $ 5 but forgot to take one of them to the cashier. Then, the staff member on the far right of the cash register said, Since the cash register has already been completed, no discount is available. As a result, no discount was received. I was very disappointed. We are not very good at English. Knowing that, she was looking at us with a mockery. The store is good and the clerk who puts out the goods feels good. Please improve the attitude of the cashier.
Love this place. It has it all from organic fruits & veggies to artisan cheese & bread. The staff is wonderfully accommodating and actually take the time out to learn your name and ask about your day. Keep up the fantastic work Brooklyn Fare.
Prices are good here
Good selection, but not super fresh.
Always a delight to go to Brooklyn FareaWatch the prices. definitely worth it though
I love this grocery store! Its only a couple doors down from my apartment and each time, its like entering into a wondrous Willy Wonka fantasy of grocery stores!
Great store, always immaculately stocked. Check your receipt, they often overcharge on sale items.
This store USED to be good. USED to have fresh produce and good variety of products. Ever since their management changed, it is almost impossible to buy fresh veggies/fruit. ALL berries are rotten, cucumbers and other veggies have mold on them, tomatoes are soft and OLD. Expired products everywhere.. There used to be a nice selection of yogurt - now thats gone too. So sad, this truly used to be a great neighborhood shop. At least now there will be a Whole Foods opening near by soon...
Just had very poor checkout experience because of line mismanagement and a long bottleneck, which led to extremely rude behavior and gestures by some customers. The line expeditor was not controlling the line effectively. If you are not going to allow two lines, you need to block access from the other aisles. Its really unacceptable.
Not the least expensive place to shop, but they have great stuff.
Surprised to see how big the store was when I got inside. Great selection, great people.
Awesome selection
Brooklyn Fare Staff is extremely courteous! Very Knowledgable of all their inventory! Brooklyn Fare also has Beautiful low prices.. surprisingly low for their excellent quality in produce!!!Plus they have a nice money back system after you go above a certain amount in purchase!!Cannot say enough of Brooklyn Fare...to the one here in Manhattan and even to the one I started with years ago, in Brooklyn! It is a Joy to shop there!-Kel-
Limited selection(as youd expect in NYC) but good food. A little expensive but the quality matches the cost
Fantastic! I live in Orlando and I am used to what I consider a normal grocery store, well by NYC standard my grocery store would be considered huge. I come here several times a year for business and I have my favorite bodegas. I was told to try this place and wow, it is compact but it has the same brands I am used to and surprisingly the same variety. If youre visiting near this location you have to try it. You wont be disappointed.
The food was amazing!! The plating, the ingredients, all super fresh!! It wasnt exactly a 20-course meal as the website claims, it was more of a 12 course meal. I wish the chef had walked around and spoke to everyone there instead of just the 1 couple in the corner like theyre the only ones paying but Ill still give them 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great place to shop. Healthy food choices.
This is a wonderful market with lots of selections of beers, tea, coffee ice cream, and many more. The prices of many items are better than Duane Reade. Many Residents shop there. If you are a visitor and wish to get decent food instead eating at the restaurants, this would be a great place to shop. I will definitely return.
Has good foods and prices. Always fresh
First of all, I used American Express concierge to book my reservation and was not advised it was table seating. I assumed they had booked us for the counter.Upon arrival, I addressed the miscommunication. Unfortunately, the counter seating was all full. When they called to confirm appointment, they asked if any special occasion we were celebrating? I said, I am celebrating my birthday. Don’t count your eggs. All they do is come over and say “happy birthday”.I have been to numerous restaurants in Manhattan and in the world rated 2 to 3 star Michelin’.This one by fAr for 3 Michelin star and the price tag is far disappointing.Would not recommend.
Great grocery store, has everything youll need.
I love this store! The customer service is superb! I look at the sales flyer online before I go each week, and save more than in any other grocery store near me. The product selection is great. I look forward to my trips to this store.
Very friendly and helpful staff. I ordered some of the prepared food, a veggie burger and the kale salad and the steamed vegetables. Everything was very healthy and delicious. They even let you sample food . Highly recommend
Great food. Just a bit pricey
Did a groccery list with $85 only bad was there no parking
A real find on W37th St. Grocery costs on a par with Amazon Fresh and a great choice of fresh veges, fruit, fish and meat. The delicatessen and bakery are great ...its as if you have Michelin star quality meals and so many to choose from... Great value and served up by a friendly and efficient team.
Expensive but a solid grocery store. Great beer selection, and a solid butcher. Produce is high quality, but once again its touch to get by the prices. Given the area though, there arent all that many better options so overall its worth a stop.
Nice quality of fruit. There is a large selection of cheese and nuts. The food is also tasty and the veggie, meat, and fish boxes are big enough for two meals (in my case) and decently priced.
My favorite grocery store in NYC, not only because they frequently have free wine samples. The selection is great and the staff are friendly. Shopping here is a stress reliever on a weekend.
431 West 37th Street has great bodega counter workers, but the cashiers are playing with the recreation of Palo and Santeria in there while people are shopping. You study that at home or at a place for practice, not at your job where the customers are your first priorities. Management can you please get a hold of this before I tell corporate next. Religion is to be practiced self-sufficiently, not on customers that pay you guys to continue the practice of you guys religion, lets grow up people !!!!!
Its a pricey place to shop and by lunch for sure. If you can afford it though, the deli is quite good. When I feel like splurging on lunch, this is the place I go. Roasted brussels sprouts...yes please. They have decent produce as well for the days when I watch the waist line and checkbook. I bought an apple, an orange, a plum and a nectarine for a total of $3.15. The only piece I tossed in the trash after a few bites was the plum. Plum had that hard/soft patchy thing going on inside. Some parts really good and juicy, other parts harder and unripe. Not a knock on the place, just saying I dont dig on fruit if it aint choice. Apple hit the spot, nectarine not so bad either. Orange was kinda eh too.
Another update*This place has become absolute chaos. Especially during this pandemic. The prices have become out of control, especially for those that depend on weekly specials. There isnt any circular sales but management can do their customer a great service by offering manager specials during this time.*update* So it was not too long ago I was raving about this place, I even suggested that my son and his partner start shopping here but they were not impressed. Unfortunately I am agreeing with them, first off the lay out has changed which is fine but it seems they are not carrying some of same products/brands they once used to which is most noticeable in the dairy and frozen sections. Another issue is that the items that are listed on their weekly circular are either very limited or not available at all when I go to purchase. My last few visits Ive had a long grocery list and literally left with less than half of what I came for. I think it is time for me to find a new market. 😞
Always fresh... constantly restocking
I enjoy shopping here. Its a bit cramped and packed but expected for a midtown space. I find the staff friendly and helpful and the prices relatively good.
I was impressed with this supermarket. Great selection for the city. Nice produce, and reasonably priced food. Still nothing compared to suburban supermarkets, but a surprisingly nice alternative to the bigger chains
Taste bud overload. The parings are well thought out and the service is absolutely exquisite. Only the finest ingredients.
Brooklyn Fare has become increasingly frustrating. We have shopped here since it opened as we live on the block. Over the past 2 years or so, there has been a precipitous decline at the store, most notably in the produce and the meat/fish. The produce is frequently old, rotting or unusable. I cannot count the number of times that I have bought produce that had to be thrown away - for imstamce, I just bought sliced carrots and the vast bulk were rotting and unusable. I have had similar experience with the meat and fish; while the meat is passable though often close to spoiling, I have bought fish that upon getting it home, is rank and needs to be tossed. At this point I’ve stopped buying seafood at all from BF, and try to get produce elsewhere whenever possible. The only thing keeping this from being a 1 star review is the staff, who are lovely, and the prepared food, which is solid. I hope BF can turn it around bc with Whole Foods opening nearby in a few months, I will be taking my business elsewhere if not.
They have delivered prepared foods in grab and go. Chicken pot pie is a winner and perfect portion size for me. Good selection of ice cream. Get rewards Card
Best meal Ive ever had. Some of the courses are mind blowing. Others are just simply amazing
Full service, great selection, decent prices, and a hell of a hot bar. Consistently impressed by the quality and diversity of brands available. This place is a gem. Dont forget to pick up/use their points card!
Brooklyn Unfair, great at price gouging during a pandemic. Beyond meat sausages for 13 bucks, a 50 - 90% markup if you look around.
Ritzy expen$ive joint!!
The store has a great assortment of organic products but the store manager is rude and talks down to customers when they ask simple questions. It used to be one of my favorite locations but its a shame they hired someone uneducated as a general store manager.
Great selections and good service the area is popular as well.
Nice place.
This is the best thing to happen to midtown: great produce and other pantry stuff, large cheese selection, smaller meat section but really really good steaks, and just generally has everything I need. I was worried at the prices (since Chefs Table), but everything is at surprisingly fair prices. Also people are so nice; whoever said NY is unfriendly?
My first time shopping here was great! Two employees helped me find everything I needed and informed us of great discounts. This is my new go-to grocery store!
I stop here for breakfast every morning during NYCC, I love the chocolate almond croissants, and usually stop back for dinner after the show. Ive been back home in PA for a week now and every morning Ive thought about those pastries... Love this place!
Very rude one person. he is tall and wears jeans and a vest. I think he is a manager. If you are going to make image of a good store, give basic education first.
Really nice options on almost everything you can imagine for groceries. Sometimes they have specials as well. And really good service overall from the people working there.
Brooklyn Fare carries the perfect mix of gourmet and every day groceries, all for reasonable prices. Not many places that offer a wide variety of imported meats, cheeses, chocolates, etc. also carry Capn Crunch! And, in my interactions with them, the staff have been notably kind and helpful.
Great selection. High quality. Clean fresh produce.
Nice supermarket serving good quality produce and with a nice baked goods section.
This is all about great fresh food and convenience. They have mainly everything you can think of in terms of food, its some sort of merge between a fast food restaurant (healthy or not, its your call) and a deli/groceries store. Normally I buy food there when Im ok the go: delicious wraps, soups, boxes with meat and veggies that are cooked by the chef who serves the fancy restaurant thats inside of the deli. Yes! Theres a super fancy restaurant there, so cool. But what I like the most about this place is the staff, in the deli especially, Carlos and Hashid always make my day! Great people, great place!
During this crisis, they have cut their hours, making it more difficult for people to get groceries. More like Brooklyn Unfare.
Nice supermarket that has a lot of good quality produce in a relatively small space.
This place is a hidden gem! They have EVERYTHING I need. High quality and well stocked. And whoever choose the music playlist is awesome!
This place looks cool. But once inside you realize its a cramped maze with limited clues to its layout and nobody around to help. Checkout service was slow, cramped and uninviting. Wont be back.
Love their prosciutto and mango deli sandwich. This is a full service grocery store and is large for the area. Great quality produce.
Just went to pick up a few things I needed. In and out, no line today.
As good a grocery store I have ever been in. Excellent Deli, excellent customer service, excellent selection!
Very friendly and hard-working staff!
Nice supermarket with a good pastries and prepared foods section as well.
Great NYC style store. Do a lot with limited space. Excellent selections.
Definitely gourmet (with prices to match), even though I was only here for a tub of ice cream I was tempted by so many things. Will definitely be back for the seafood/meat counter!
My favorite grocery store in the city. Prices are surprisingly reasonable and selection is great. Brooklyn Fare, if you’re reading this, please put the Van Leeuwen earl grey ice cream back in stock!!
Amazing place. Great staff and great value. A welcomed addition to the neighborhood.
Like Fairway meets the Westerly Market (The Great varieties of worldwide Food options, incl Organic & at worthwhile pricing, etc.); Kind of like where Food Heaven Meets Hells Kitchen!
This is a decent choice for groeceries in this area with great service. However, Im from the south and used to much larger superstores with lot more choices. Slightly overpriced on almost all items (more expensive than online delivery peapod). May be they need to do that to survive in the downtown Manhattan.
Great but watch out how they pack the veggies so nothing gets squished.
Best real-food option in area, good selection of organic options.
Open late. We call this place Whole Foods light. The deli section is very popular. Rewards card for frequent shoppers.
