This store is a hidden gem of the garment district. There is a large selection, very well organized with headers. You can get swatches and fabrics you want to buy are quickly retrieved from the back room. The staff is friendly and helpful. I bought some suiting here for $14/yd that would have cost $18/yd if I had bought it at any other store I visited.

They sell beautiful fabric, its all arranged in a stunning manner, and the staff is friendly and helpful, even when its crowded inside (and it does get crowded, as the store is quite tiny!). The prices are generally reasonable, though the imports can get expensive.I love coming here, even if its only to browse through the amazing colors and prints.

This is one of the only very few stores that had survived for so many years. And also the only one kept in the original fabric district at 40th street until just recently.Excellent quality fabrics in all departments. Prices are very good. The staff is always very welcoming and helpful. The management; very nice, attentive and friendly. I love to visit this store.

Pricey but good quality fabrics. Some standard fabrics like tulle or mesh like can be found the same match for half the price this store offers. Go here only if you are looking for specialty fabrics. Some of the managers are rude and unconcerned, while staff is pleasant and caring.

Great selection, friendly staff especially James who will go above and beyond to ensure that you will find what you are looking for. We own a fashion studio in Red Bank NJ specializing in bridal and evening wear and when we are making custom shawls or custom gowns we come all the way here to Elegant Fabrics to get special fabrics and furs simply not available near us. This place is for professionals, however, they do caters to small project novices, who ever gave this place less than five stars does not know what they are talking about. Make it a stop if you are looking for something you cannot find elsewhere.

I have always loved this fabric store. I had a recent visit after being out of the fashion industry for years, and they still carry fabrics I needed!!! Great Store, Very Friendly Staff and Knowledgeable!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND SELECTIONS!!!! Ill will return again!

This place have a huge selection of fabrics but expensive. Some staff doesn’t speak English well and was hard to get some help. Otherwise, it is clean, organized, and accessible.

I have been to Elegant many times both as a student and as a professional in the industry.Elegant Fabrics is truly one of a kind and a must see if you are fabric shopping in New York.They offer all kinds of fabrics from basics, to novelty. The price points are significantly higher than other fabric stores (like Mood) but the quality is arguably better.Most people going to Elegant are looking for something special anyway.They do have a fair amount of cut & sew, as well as swimsuit material, cotton, velvet, mens shirting, brocade, neoprene, and novelty fabrics.They do not have elastic, trims, buttons,or hardware as far as I know.The best thing about Elegant for students is the pre-cut swatches they attach to mostly every bolt. (so you do not have to ask to have things swatched over &over)They do limit you to 20 swatches per person but honestly no one really inspects this (just try to be respectful and only take what you need).Staff is friendly and helpful if often busy. I had to find silver special occasion yardage for a bespoke dress and they were great about helping point out options all over the store.

5 stars for selection and organization. But 1 star for being about double the price of every other nearby fabric store. You are paying for the ease of shopping--that and the quality ventilation, because most of the other stores are superbly dusty and an hour of shopping will kill your sinuses. But you are NOT paying more for quality, because its identical to all the others.

The BEST fabric store! Friendly helpful staff that will get you what you need if they dont have it. They have 2 floors of fabrics - inexpensive to Amazing couture fabrics.If youre a serious shopper they are generous with their swatched as well...appreciated as a set designer.

Greatest product selection. The fabric quality here is amazing and novelty fabrics are to die for. Swatches are precut for you soIts an excellent place for sourcing and investing on.

I have designed and created numerous wedding gowns. Elegant Fabrics always has the silk I need...satin, taffeta, charmeuse,....whatever. The prices are very reasonable as well. I always start here and dont have to go anywhere else.
