This is a well-curated store, but the prices are a bit high compared to other vintage stores.
I’ve wanted to keep this store a secret but can’t stand seeing it have such a low rating on google. 9th street vintage is THE place to shop in NYC if you know vintage. Meri, the owner, has impeccable style and is a magician at sourcing amazing clothes in more wearable sizes. Think denim, workwear, 30s-40s items that you can wear daily and never go out of style. Some of my favorite and most reached for items in my closet are from this store. I look forward to visiting whenever I’m in the neighborhood!
Personally wanted to support this little shop on my street. I shop at other boutiques like No. 6, Meg in NYC but I also travel a lot and buy vintage in LA. I’m not a novice at shopping. The experience was ok. The shop keeper was nice. I bought a pair of pants from 1930’s. Spent $320Next week I wore them and on the seem they fell apart. I meant it looked like I was wearing a skirt and I was so embarrassed but luckily we were on a walk through Central Park and it was night and dark. We were able to jump in a cab to our home.I. Called the next day and the woman on the phone was somewhat cold and not apologetic at all. She told me to get it tailored across the street at their tailor which i did. I honestly wish she would’ve offered another option like an exchange because it was pretty apparent that this thing was not holding up well. The man who worked my pants said oh they are very nice but yes most of their stuff is very very old and these pants are not going to hold up even if I fix them. He said I’m going to fix this ditch but it’s going to break again for sure. You know not really been an avid purchasing items 100 years old or more but I do buy things from the 50s to the 70s I would never have thought out of my nativity that the material is weak after 50-100 years.I’ll never go back, and not because of price or age of clothes but because it was handled.I asked others in our neighborhood if they shop in there and they said no because the ladies are actually kind a rude so I guess it’s like a common experience and that’s unfortunate because building relationships is kind of the thing you do. I would have gone back for other items if the way they handled this was caring and empathetic but it was cold and uncaring.Noted, and moving on.
Customer service is horrible here, I couldn’t stop thinking about a garment after leaving. Called the next day to ask the owner for a better price on the garment & she responded very rudely and ended the call by hanging up. I get it, you are a small business which is why you need to keep your prices as marked though this item did not have a price tag on it, with being a small business you should maintain a quality customer service to ALL customers. I would not recommend supporting such business.
Absolutely wonderful! The person that helped me today was so so sweet and I bought a beautiful piece, will definitely return in the future.
Great merchandise and fair price
