I used to live in China and I miss Chinese food! I’m so happy to have found this place. Hardworking, friendly staff. There is a wide selection of gluten free flour and noodles (I love noodles), as well as Asian cooking essentials and condiments. Don’t forget to check out the basement, where they sell fresh vegetables for Asian cooking, fish and meat! Fresh fish comes in every Thursday so be sure to call then pop by for the freshest seafood! You get to pick the fish you want and the staff will gut and clean it for you. Tofu, rice noodles, frozen dumplings, etc.The broccoli florets can be as cheap as $0.99 per bag and it is so fresh and good! I also bought a super duper sharp knife here. The best part - key duplicate service for only $2.50, car key $7.00, and the duplicated key actually works! (I have duplicated about 5 keys, all usable). The store offers free boxes to bag your grocery. The bosseven offer to help carry to the car for me sometimes. So happy I found this place. We bought a bunch of ingredients to make hot pot today. Yum!
Great place to get your Pan Asian food needs. The staff is helpful and the variety of food allows you to get most anything you might need for Chinese, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine. I love getting my fresh Thai basil and variety of Asian greens.
2 floors of Asian fresh, frozen and canned goodies. Many hard to find anywhere else in the area. The prices are not unreasonable either. 1 floor wheelchair inaccessible and aisles very narrow.
Wrongly charge me more than the goods i bought for several times,“pretending to be” a error charge that added my previous customers bill to my bill, when i discovered,“explained as” oh i thought you were friends together, very experienced to “explain” after being discovered. after payment,if checking the items of the bill, there is always error, charging more. dont want to go back anymore!
It has plenty of asian stuffs ranging from Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese to Indian spices. It has 2 floors, with the underground floor selling meat and seafood! The shop owner also can help you choose the right items if you tell him the food you want to make (mostly chinese food)
If you are a fun of Chinese cooking this the place to come. Mostly what I come for is a hot pot flavors and sliced meat for it. They have a lot of good stuff that a necessary for specifically Chinese cooking, other than that I dint really know what else to come there for. Oh, also they have not bad fish selection downstairs. Giving 4 stars because it’s not clean as food store should be.
There is vegan naturally!Ive know about this place for eyons and they have Chinese pastries! A must try...(fking Amazing (scouts honnor) and vegan friendly) 3 days ago I just bought my first whole box of groceries. Usually its a random item or so for convenience and whatnot... But to the truth their vegan options are so placed so natural and logically, its nastaligic. It is supper comfy, easy, and healthy.
Good products, but slightly pricey
Nice selection of fresh fish. Dont forget to tip the man downstairs who will clean, dehead and butterfly your selections for you.
Nice Chinese grocery store, good if you ever in a mood for Asian food. Price is fair
Always have the ingredients Im looking for.
Nice variety of items good prices friendly owners
Checkout the downstairs! Fresh seafood and produce! Super affordable groceries in downtown New Haven! For example the limes are 3 for $1.00 here versus over a dollar each at other places.Rice and other staples are an extremely good value here. And yes I did buy an entire bag of fortune cookies, like 50 for $1.00. They were great as a giveaway at a conference.Employees are very friendly and helpful. So glad to have this grocery store in New Haven.
I was waiting in the line to pay and the cashier left me and went to stack the stuff in the shelves and when I left the store without buying my stuff for his disrespect he followed outside angry
Used to go here for asian snacks and anything I needed to cook asian meals. Suuuuuuper rude employees, though.
I love the coffee selection here. Its incredible.
Good place
Of all of the Asian markets Ive been to this one is probably the best just be sure to check the expiration dates I have always found some items to have been expired
From the outside you would never expect a fish market to be in this place. Its a little tight going through the aisles but if you shop Asian foods or are just curious, it was adventure for me. The fish market is downstairs and have a variety of fish shrimp and prepared foods. Owners are friendly and approachable. Nice place in downtown New Haven.
Great place. Love it!
They are not real Hongkongers, so please don’t assume they sell good quality products. The store is pretty messy and dirty. The cashiers are pretty rude when you ask a second question on anything. Wouldn’t risk my life buying anything from this store anymore. You know what I’m saying. There is no real HK store around New Haven. Be warned.
Perfect you can find everything from Asian Markets.
I love this place and all the meals I can cook with what I buy here instead of having to cook basic pasta or Mac n cheese to survive here. You come here for the products not the customer service. Do not hold facial expression standards based on white people over friendly facades. Support people of color and their businesses. People complaining about the service need to get over themselves and realize how much they’ve internalized white culture.
The meals and service were ahead of our expectations. I really liked the atmosphere of this restaurant. First-rate place to take my family out for dinner.
I like to buy Asian Food!
A small grocery store. Not too clean, fish is not fresh and poorly stored. I am giving it a miss!
So far so good
Good reliable place for fresh produce, fish and other Asian Staples. Not super friendly staff but you get what you need there.
Was able to find all the items I needed to make Pad Thai. Nice store and friendly service.
The fish wow.they even clean it for you.everthnig heathy.
This place has really cleaned up its act: organized, spotless, fully stocked Asian market and the fish is great. Super fast check out and the owners are super helpful. Lots of free parking in the lot just behind the restaurant next door. Look for the alley off Whitney for the parking lot.
We shop there often. There are two floors with everything from meats and fresh fish to veggies, breads and baked goodies from NY. There is a selection of canned and frozen goods and even dishes and cookware. They have a variety of product and the prices seem fair for our area.
Good option for Asian food.
Cute asian market with a good selection of stuff, nearby parking, and friendly staff
The shop has overdue products on their shelves, be careful! I almost bought chocolates that were due May(2 months ago) Do not recommend such a place
Got 2 * for tuna.
They have everything you may want or need for cooking or to snack on including cookies chocolates and candies. They also have meat and kitchen utensils downstairs. Do not expect good customer service.
A little smelly, and sadly they dont appear to carry Wei Lih instant noodles, BUT, great fresh tofu and bamboo shoot! And a lot of terrific preserved items. Sauces, pickled things, all of that, excellent selection. Spices too, very good. Small produce section but very high quality. Bonus: Best kimchi Ive found yet in the area.
Didn’t have exactly what I wanted but I still walked out feeling like the trip was worth it
Excellent place to get many items for the proper Asian cooking!
Okay asian mart. I go there often to buy some asian veggies, asian food, asian snacks, and asian cooking seasonings.
I like the location (yay! Not in downtown!) Because its much closer to where I live in East Rock and beside some yummy food establishments. They have a wide variety of food, sauces, and non food stuff here. I dig it! Really not bad tbh.
(Boston Post Road location NOT New Haven Whitney ave )Employees are very rude at best . Small highly overpriced selection! compared to other asian markets in CT this is thee most expensive. Dry goods and pantry items are usually expired if they have a expiration date at all ... I Have been a customer for over 5 years as they are the closest place to find Chinese grocery Staples outside of Chinatown NY and each experience has been worse and worse my last trip I was overcharged AT LEAST 70$ And about a third of my items were not even. In my bags when I got home they like to pull a fast one where they think it is possible ..never again will I step foot in that craphole of a store they stole enough from me please be weary I WILL be spreading the word 0 STARS
All of the staples of Asian cuisine at varying prices with a lower level access to housewares.
Great price on Salmon(6.99) and other fish. Fresh for the most part. You need to know how to pick fresh fish though.
They are the best place I love the fresh fish and veggies
The fresh fish is cheaper than other places.
A bit pricey, as compared with other markets. The fish is good.
Fantastic prices and excellent, very friendly service. Good selection of Fresh produce as well, and every type of noodle I could imagine - Awesome. I will be shopping here often. Highly recommended.
Decent sized Asian market. They have a respectable selection of fresh produce and fish/meat downstairs. Prices are reasonable. The best Asian market Ive been to in New Haven.
Me and a couple of friends always come here to get bean buns before concerts. Its a cool place to get a lot of asian snacks, if you dont mind the intense smell of fish.
Wide range of Asian products. Fresh fish market downstairs. Also fresh produce that you wont find at Stop and Shop... Also, quirky, cheap, random house ware and miscellaneous stuff downstairs, too.
The place is a total sketch. Some of the products have their expiration date erased, while for some other products, the expiry dates look like they were rewritten. This trick is pretty common in some Asian countries. The receipt only shows Grocery 1. Grocery 2. Grocery 3, which is a big red flag already... Just beware when you shop here.
One of the best around. Can find everything you need from fresh seafood to all your spices, sauces, dry ingredients and more!
5 stars for New Haven area. Good price on fish, pork belly, tofu. They pack in a lot of the basics for a lot of different Asian food as well as a lot of basic kitchen tools and diningware. Good selection of snacks and candy.
Great supply of snacks, fruits, drinks and vegetables. Lacking in meat options.
Great selection
Not so organized
Making shrimp stir fry and found everything I needed.
Anything I need for my asian cuisine dishes!
Fresh seafood selection. When Im in the mood for sugar snap peas, cilantro, tofu, eggplant or bok choy, I can get in and out with exactly what I want in a few minutes. They have specialty grocery items with a pretty nice selection. Dont forget a big pack of dried seaweed.
Hong Kong Grocery does indeed have an array of Asian foods to choose from, at times or should I say (for the majority) it reeks of rancid water, etc. However, my trips are ONLY to purchase a particular tea which isnt sold anywhere else...Prince Of Peace Ginger Honey Crystals. The commutes to get this tea is definitely worth it!
Lots of great imported Asian food including Japanese snacks, canned coffee, a thousand types of ramen and packaged soups. Good selection of tofu and vegan meat options in the rear of the store near the crackers.
Cool store. Great variety
The fish market i go get fish from i go there because of the fresh fish and they clean them well
Great selection. Ended up buying much more than I intended.
I can fine many Asia food here
Great place for everything asian in New Haven. Highly recommended
NEVER USE YOUR DEBIT CARD AT THIS PLACE. The store would not receive credit card if you are only spending $10. I did not have cash, used debit card instead. Two weeks later, a fraud transaction appeared in my online banking account. I normally use credit cards and only used debit card at this place. It is hard to not draw connection between the two events.
I like coming here because I love the verity in noodles they have in stock and the shrimp they sell here is at a fair price
Good food, good variety of things
Been coming here for many many years, going back 20 years ago I believe, while they were located next door at the same place where Great Wall Chinese Restaurant was. Fresh selections of Asian produce. You could find bitter melon, yu choi, watercress and many other vegetables. The produce sections is located downstair. Across the produce sections you will find a fish section. You could have your fish gutted and cleaned there. They will appreciate it if you leave tip for the man preparing your fish. Upstairs you will find all dry sections as well as refrigerated items. When in season you could find chinese fruit such as lychee or longans. They have parking in the back, sharing the parking space with the chinese restaurant next door. Make sure to feed your meter when you park your car on the street. I got few parking tickets for expired meter.
Great place to buy Chinese food but some times you have to check for the expiring date on the products.
You can find all Asian product, this store also sales fresh fish, vegetables and fruits
Great variety of Asian dried goods and spices upstairs, with fresh produce and a full whole-fish and shellfish section downstairs.
Great prices on our Asian essentials!!
Best selection in new Haven. Prices are pretty high compared to NY though.
Great selection of asian products vegetables and fish. Freindly staff.
Large selection, yes. price reasonable. down stair, awful. people are nice.
Great collection of Asian food, spices, vegetables, meat, and fresh fish. They also have a key copying service for $2.12.
I find some great and affordable foods and good here on a regular basis
Wonderful staff and a good selection
Most of chinense style food and doods is avaible
The price is high, the quality of vegetables and meat are not fresh. It is very convenient location with big parking lot.
Nice clean store with good vegetable selection.
Clean, packed with good grade items, friendly staff, great prices.
I can always find what I need here and the prices are great. Just be sure to check dates on bottles/cans.
Good products for Chinese food. Check vegetables downstairs.
I will never go there unless other Chinese stores are closed.Suck place.
Staff are not overly helpful, but the selection is decent. For purchases under $20 bring cash.
The best place to get Asian vegetables in New Haven.
Great 👍
Small Chinese supermarket in downtown New Haven. Has most essentials but not much in terms of produce.
Had what I needed.
麻雀雖小,五臟俱全。My go-to place for Asian groceries in New Haven.
If your looking for asian food stuff you can find here
Great produce.
They have a very clean place and. the customer service
They have hard to find Asian products
Everything you need if you cant get to NJ
