My dodge caravan needed a new transmission. They did an awesome job without any issues in a timely manner. A few months went by and when I took the van to get an oil change a mechanic said that he thinks I might have a possible transmission leak. I took it back to Plotts to get looked at, which they took it in quickly. There was no leak and no charge. This was over a year ago and am just now getting the time to write a review. I would highly recommend these mechanics.
Friendly, professional and on time at a great price. Couldnt ask for more
Worst customer service. Took over a month to fix our transmission, tell us the car is ready and keys are under the visor. We show up that night, car unlocked no keys! We go in the next morning to pick it up at 8, which is when the sign says they open, no one there. No one shows up til almost 9am, and we are furious as we are waiting and already late to go to work! They try to tell us they were there the night before til 9PM, which is a lie because we went to pick our car up after 6PM and no one was there!! They have no sense of urgency or respect. Dont waste your time.
Great guys and fellow gearheads. Take both of my cars to them.
The only reason I am giving a three star review is because they made it right. I took my 2011 Chevy Silverado to Plots 7 weeks ago. My transmission was slipping pretty badly and I knew it needed work. I dropped it off on a Monday, and on Wednesday I called to see what was going on as I hadnt heard anything. I was told the issue was my torque converter, and I would need a new one as well as a complete rebuild of the transmission. They said they would get to work on it, but two weeks later it still wasnt complete. I had to call every other day for an update, and I was not contacted until the work was done. When my wife got in the truck and started it up, I immediately knew something wasnt right. The exhaust was much louder than when I dropped off the truck. The shop immediately put it back on the rack and tightened an exhaust valve while I waited. No big deal. I then got in the truck and went for a drive. I drove from New Castle to Grove City and back so about 35 miles in all. The transmission was slipping all over the place, and the exhaust sounded loud and not right either. I called the shop on Monday and took it back the same day. They kept it for another 5 business days, and said they couldnt find anything wrong with it at all. When I went to get it I was told that next time I felt something wrong with it to bring it up and take them for a ride to show them what I was feeling. My wife and I left for an anniversary trip the next weekend(I didnt really drive much between when I got it back and the next weekend). We drove to Moundsville WV, about 1 hour and 30 minutes from New Castle. The drive down was ok, but on the way back I started losing gears. I lost 6th and 5th gear, and then they would come back just randomly. We limped it home, and the next morning I had to go to a dr apt in Cranberry(35 minute drive). The drive down was ok, but coming back I lost 6th, 5th, and 4th gear. As soon as I got off the highway I called the shop and told them I was bringing it in. By the time I got there I had lost 3rd gear as well, and the check engine light was on.The shop had my truck for another THREE weeks before finally completing it. I was told the torque converter went bad again, I needed a new valve body, and they had to replace a piece of my exhaust. During this time they had my truck there were hours where they would leave the phone off the hook and communication was non existent. When I finally did get my truck back they had put a full tank of gas in it for me, and everything runs smoothly now.Like I said at the beginning, the only reason I gave them three stars is because they did finally make it right. The experience was horrible though, and I likely will never go back to them. This sucks because they used to be a good shop, and took care of my wifes vehicle a few years ago in a timely manner with excellent service and results. If anyone from Plots reads this, Im sure you know who I am, and I would at least give a piece of advice to call your customers and give them status updates at the very least.
This shop has done tons of work for me and friends they offer very knowledgeable people
Had a couple questions about the vehicle I own and didnt get any answer that I would have needed to get to feel comfortable doing business with this company
Never called me back
I went to Plotts at the end of November because my Drive and reverse went in my truck Plotts told my boyfriend that it would cost me 2500.00 up front now I am a mother of 2 girls and work night shift as a newspaper route driver I dont make tons of money I took them 2500 dollars in cash 500 plus 500 plus 1500 all in one week took my savings i had put up to get it done the owner Jimmy Plott himself guaranteed his work n said i had a year if something should go wrong, he didnt even put my exhaust up right. So a month has past n now it is doing the same thing in drive and reverse and the owner told me if i dont have the receipt that my warranty isnt covered now remind you the owner said this.... he knew I was there his son did not register the information so since i lost my recepit n his son did not save my information into his computer im out 2500.00 called union police n officer says bluntly what do you want me to do about it.. and I said i suppose theres not much that can be done without receipt to show proof and officer of Union township said Then why dis you call me .what a call for justice anyone can rip you off 2500.00 because of not having a receipt and sum1 not doing there job correctly then laughing at someone at that.....sad very sad.God does not like ugly and this place did not do the job they were to do took my hard earned money n said screw me. And theres nuthin i can do think im guna talk to an attorney and Better Business Borrow I have call logs on my phone from Plotts and I know thry have cameras as dishonest as they are they probably would erase that too.Because they gotta be able to pull phone records showing we contacted them n them contacting us back a few times maybe the judge will believe that is that proof enough. How would I know how much he charged It was not even a month he knew me I talked to the oener personally I took it ba k next day because of my muffler how can someome like this still be in business? Not to mention he said I threatened him with the cops so now he had nothing to say to me. This is not how to conduct business especially when you know the vehicle just left ur garage:( right after xmas and having 2 little girls and working as minimum wage job all my money:(
I give Plotts transmissions shop a ZERO STAR !! I took my vehicle in for a transmission problem. I was told by the owner that I had two choices for repair. Either to replace the transmission with a used one, or to rebuild my transmission with all new parts. Being my perfect 16 year old vehicle that I have taken care of so well, I elected to have the rebuild done. I was told that would be the right way to go about it. The car never shifted properly. After 7 trips of 45 minutes driving each way and many of problems, the problems are still not resolved. After many lies, argumentative conversations, and being hung up on the phone. Still no resolve. Do yourself a favor and take it to a TRUE transmission specialist. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Nice people that get the job done. Highly recommend.
Poor experience. Owner lacks honor, integrity or craftsmanship. Had a rebuilt transmission with 12 month warranty that failed with less than 100 miles on it and they refused to honor and repair their poor craftsmanship. Avoid this business.
Bought a truck off someone that had receipts of the transmission being rebuilt by them 100 miles ago, the truck wasnt running right so we took it down and asked them if they would look at it so we could get it fixed. The owner told me I didnt spend a dime in his shop and to get out. Pretty sure whatever is wrong with the transmission is there fault and thats why they refuse to give me the time of day. Worst customer service.
Very experienced mechanics and quick service
I would give Plotts Transmission Service zero stars if I could. My husband had a new transmission put in his vehicle 2 years ago at another auto service center. Its been giving him some difficulty and he has been in contact with the warranty company. The women at the warranty company recently referred us to Plotts, which is a 50 minute drive from where we live in Warren. After talking to a gentleman at Plotts about our current situation and informing him of the warranty and the far distance, he assured us that we could bring in the car to get it repaired, no problem. After driving it out there, the same gentleman called us the next morning and said he could not repair the car because he would not get paid fast enough from the warranty company (after we already discussed all of this with him on the phone)! Plotts isnt concerned with how to service their customers. As you can see from both my review and the gentlemans below, Plotts is only concerned about how they are going to make money. Avoid this business altogether. We found a much better business that wants to take care of us in the Youngstown/Boardman area called Redlich Transmission.
Always gets the job done quick, cheap, and on time. Even if they cant fix it they know someone who can.
Service is slow, honest for the most part, transmission has been built three times and still needing more work but, they are sticking by their guarantee and, doing the work for free due to it being warranted!!
Owner refused to repair transmission for the third time, removed it from vehicle then forced me to call police to have vehicle retrieved in pieces after screaming at me to leave. Incompetent, uses defective parts and is unprofessional and rude... One star because no stars wont post.
Want a performance trans this were to go for one
