Shame they require masks to go inside. I will not be spending my money at businesses where there is obvious discrimination.

The great thing about a good small book store is that it gets you to look at books you wouldn’t otherwise have. The Bookshop has an awesome collection for just that. Just a wonderful place!

I love to support independent booksellers when I can. I stopped in during my trip to Nashville and I loved the selection of books. There was a great selection of fiction and non fiction. The owner went out of her way to recommend books for me which can be a challenge because I read a lot and I’m picky. I appreciated her time and can’t wait to read her selection.

Words will not adequately describe how much I absolutely love this bookstore! Having worked in a bookstore myself and knowing the joy that it can bring when you introduce someone to an author or a story they may never have known without you, I love the curated books the staff select for you! I had only had the pleasure of visiting the store in person twice before the pandemic began. And the fact that they were able to quickly adapt to the needs of their customers in such an odd climate is a testimate to their love for what they do and the customers they serve! I will be a lifelong customer!

The Bookshop is the most idyllic, neighborly book store I have ever visited. Im a regular there, and Joelle always greets me and asks after my husband and daughter by name if they arent with me.She is always ready with relevant, knowledgeable recommendations. For Christmas when we first moved to the area, she helped my husband choose a book for one of my gifts that became one of my favorite books after I read it.Also, Joelle puts on frequent, FREE events for the literary community. Different kinds of book clubs, story time for kids AND adults (with free wine for the grown-up events), themed readings, and book releases. She always makes me feel welcome when I visit during regular hours or the after-hours events. Also, as a bonus, the Bookshop is adjoined to a coffee shop next door, and they keep the door open between them for easy access!I cant recommend this shop highly enough. Its my happy place!!

I absolutely LOVE this shop. From the amazing lighting, to the selection of books (varied for all!), the patrons (always lovely), and the owner Joelle is a great connoisseur and gives wonderful suggestions. I highly recommend this little spot for all visitors and locals alike.Their bathroom is also beautiful. Theres always a cozy candle available and low-lighting. There should be a sofa in there because its so zen.I appreciate their selection of small gift options, too. They have something for everyone; the student, discerning cook, homeopathy, political pirate, or art lover. :)

Nice shop. Great selections.Would be a whole lot more welcoming if they dropped the dont take photos of our books nonsense. Im a big believer in supporting local bookstores, but this is a terrible way to convey that message.EDIT:Appreciate the thoughtful response. I am of course aware that other indie bookshops use similar signs. I call them out when I see them. If you mean it to be a source of education, wonderful, phrase it that way and contextualize it; dont make it a silly blanket prohibition.

Stepping into The Book Shop is like stepping back in time to when there wasn’t yet an Amazon, and people who ran bookshops were specialists who can help you select just the right book if you need it. In a time when these experiences are now few and far between, I love that I can still have a personalized experience in a place that is designed for people who love books. I like that by shopping here, I can help protect that experience. It’s cheery and bright, and I dare you not to fall in love with all the books.

Fantastic selection of relevant books. Definitely that independent bookstore vibe of every single book in here is beautiful and I would like to read it vs a larger box store type bookstore. Person tending the shop at the time was super nice and made conversation about my purchases. My only suggestion would be: it was pretty quiet in the shop, and for the time I was the only customer I found myself craving a fan or some sort of white noise to kind of diffuse the energy. I will admit that I didnt stay as long as I could have just because it did have a sort of tense feel. Other than that I really enjoyed the shop!

Her Bookshop is the best bookshop in Nashville, hands down. The books are all so beautiful I come out wishing I had bought a half dozen. If Joelle doesnt have it in stock, ask her to order it for you. Plus they have story times on Saturday mornings for kids (and lots of other events).

What a beautiful carefully curated space. You arent going to find everything here, just everything the owner loves and can fit in their space. Seemingly only one of many books in the shop. Great extras like pins and totes. Excellent conversation and no pushiness from the owner. I know they have several book clubs as well.

Hey East Nashville - we no longer have to drive to Green Hills to get our indie bookstore fix! This friendly spot has a constantly changing selection of quirky, arty, and more mainstream titles, and their events are thoughtful and unique. And no, you don’t have to be a “her” to go inside - I’ve bought many books here in the past few months and have never felt more manly.

There are probably only two or three bookstores that are worth checking regularly in Nashville. Parnasus in Green Hills and the Bookshop (the third might be McKays and fourth might be the Vanderbilt Barnes and Noble). The Bookshop is the smallest, but the floorspace is dense with superb book selections. Compared to Parnasus, the Bookshops books are more stylish and hip. IMO, a younger, woker person seems to be the audience, compared to Parnasus older, more established audience. But, to be clear, its not the Portlandia Feminist Bookstore - its an accessible shop for all readers. Youll certainly find amazing gifts for your literary and not so literary friends of all backgrounds too.Of course, the Bookshop is not Barnes and Nobles or McKay. If you know the specific book youre looking for, you may not find it there unless you call ahead. But if youre looking for inspiration, youll find lots of it. Its a great place to have in your repertoire of Nashville hotspots.
