Made an appt. to have a hitch installed a month prior to install date. They said hitch was in stock and needed my card number to reserve that hitch. Get there at 7am on installation date and they tell me they dont have the hitch. I asked why nobody called me to tell me not to come? The employee says, I dont know, the manager will be here soon, you can talk to him. Waited for 20 minutes..... no manager. I canceled everything and left.

Ive been a U-Haul customer in 4 states and for at least 20 years. Ive never written a review until now - but this location really impressed me yesterday with their professionalism, customer focussed service, and generally positive attitude! From the gentleman at the counter to the tech who helped get my trailer hitched and connected, it was a great experience. The rental was very reasonably priced and the 5x8 trailer was super easy to tow and load/unload, even in the rain. Its not the closest U-Haul to me but Ill drive a little further to this location next time I need anything! Highly recommend - Thanks U-Haul Morton Grove!

Weve rented quite a few trailers (6x12) from U-Haul over the years but this location was our first experience of exceptional customer service. The reps came out and helped attach the trailer and confirm the lights were working. Such a great experience for pickup and drop off!

This review is incredibly long overdue but soooo well deserved. Due to my life as it was, and then Covid happening, I decided I needed to move, and my moving date was about 2-3 weeks away from when I officially made the decision. I’m a single woman who pays my own bills, and I have a dog and some other small pets at home that I care for as well, and I had been bartending and waitressing while I’m still in school for nursing-so money has been-and was-incredibly tight to say the least. Everywhere I called to try and get a moving truck was either fully booked, required that you hire a mover/movers with the truck(I thankfully already had friends to help me move), or they tried jacking up the prices something fierce. There were some other company’s but they were incredibly difficult/impossible to get through to. I was pretty much in a complete state of panic when I decided I had to drive to the Uhaul by me so that I could try and talk to someone face to face about my problem, and I can’t even tell you how happy and grateful I am that I did. With his bright, social, and friendly demeanor, Charles immediately lightened my mood and made me feel positive for the first time in weeks-like I actually had hope! He listened to my whole crazy story patiently-even with the several extra pointless tid bits I threw in there. He was honest and helped me figure out what size truck I’d really need, as well as helping me get a handle on the packing materials. He got me the truck I wanted/needed and made sure I had it for the maximum amount of time allowed. I didn’t need all the boxes and he was so nice about the return, I had something come up where I was a tiny bit late getting the truck back and he was so kind and understanding about it! Charles is truly a rare breed. You can tell that he is genuine and truly cares about providing the best customer service while still running a tight, neat, and proficient ship!!! I recommend everyone who’s moving to go to this specific Uhaul and ask for Charles. You WONT be disappointed!!

Called twice and placed on hold for 5 to 10 minutes and then the phone was disconnected. It is so frustrating to wait long time and then get disconnected. Unresponsive to customers calls/inquiries.

After a few days of a stressful move Im left with such mixed but mainly negative feelings about my experience with Uhaul.Ordering a truck for 7/31 to move out of our 1 bedroom apartment and 8/1 to move in.Lets start off day by day.Wednesday 7/29We order a Uhaul Truck to be picked up a couple miles from us via mobile pick up which went smooth.Thursday 7/30We receive a call and are told there are no trucks available in the city of Chicago and we are offered a van, many miles south of the city (we are located on the north side)I call the call center later on and a very nice representative told me theres a location in Skokie/ Morton Grove that can take care of me. Only 7 miles NORTH of where i live. Why was i not told about this location earlier?I select the option and im put on hold which basically reset the call to the beginning.They didn’t confirm i had the rental so i called back again and the man i spoke with told me it was all set.(Annoyed but ok)Friday 7/31 The primary Driver and I arrive to pick up our mobile order at Morton Grove Uhaul. We wait parked out front behind another guy for 10 mins, uhaul employees were outside but didnt bother to acknowledge us the whole time we had arrived. We parked and got out of the car. There was an error with our mobile pickup so we go up to this short stocky employee to try to explain and he rudely tells us “you gotta go inside” without even a second to hear us out.We pick up the truck and off we go.All our stuff was successfully put in the truck which ran great and was the perfect amount of space.Friday into Saturday 7/31-8/1 Morning 2amOur landlord is having an issue with his previous tenant and not letting us move in during the time promised.This affected our time to move things in, l called the call center to ask for an extension of time and they wanted the primary driver on the phone who was asleep and At his home who we could not reach until 8am.7:30 am I received a call from Morton Grove Uhaul and it sounds like the same rude guy we dealt with picking up the truck.He says angrily “you’re late for dropping off your truck and we need it now, you’re screwing up our schedule for us and the guy who’s picking up the truck next”.After trying to explain the situation once again he cuts me off saying “you have until 10am”I was panicking and scrambling trying to get the truck together and unload. then I realized maybe i should call the call center once more now that i found out the primary driver is awake.I call and once I got ahold of someone they said It was not necessary to have the primary driver on the phone to confirm a rental extension” and also said“oh it seems the Uhaul center took care of getting the next guy a truck after they called you and put you down for 5pm dropoff”ALL OF THAT STRESS WAS FOR NOTHING.We finish the move and drop off the truck with ease but im forever left with a bad taste in my mouth with this stressful experience. I wont be back unfortunately and could not recommend Uhauls service to anyone.

This review is not directly for this location - it was the location I tried to get a truck rented at, and showed available for great price. After making reservation online and getting confirmation hour plus later I got a vague, hardly audible VM stating my truck is available in like 15 miles from this location.I will never waste time in the future on u-haul. Tried to call the 800 number to sort this through - after long holds got disconnected 2 times accidentally and 2 time I think deliberately. In the meantime smaller trucks in this location had tripled in price: I feel like u-haul is pulling a bate and switch tricks.Its not working for me !!! Posting this online for others to read.

Very professional and very quick. The general manager helped make renting a truck as stress free as possible on moving day (with online reservation in advance). Will definitely come back if I move again.

Staff was really friendly, got me set up and on my way quickly. Had one issue: they did not secure the trailer break light and turning signal wiring so it dragged on the highway and left me without any trailer lighting. Had to stop at a U-Haul in a near by town to fix this issue...Be sure to check that your wiring is secure before heading out

With this UHaul, your reservation absolutely guarantees nothing. The guy at the front desk shrugged his shoulders when I asked why he had no spaces, and why i was not warned about this when i called two days earlier. Luckily Life Storage came through and saved the day.

Scheduled a 5x8 trailer for pickup on Saturday (1 week before). When I showed up they told me nothing was set by scheduling. They had no info. I called the 800 number and they were able to find a trailer 25 miles away.Ended up having to leave my bed behind and attaching a carrier.I dont understand why during the week no one contacted me about the lack of trailer.I wont be taking up any of their trailer time in the future.Totally undependable.

I have been renting for seven months - at no time did I ever have access to my storage because at first the door would not open do to door sagging - they fixed it, requiring the lock to be cut and replaced. I was told I would get a key in the mail - but they sent it twice to the wrong address. Unbelievable. Would it not be a comedy of sorts if I ever get into my storage and found nothing there?The manager is extremely rude and hung up on me. He does not take responsibility for anything, and I have to go the the area manager to get anything done.Mind you, I am a civil person. Would I recommend this U haul location? Absolutely not.

Rude, No clue what customer service is. Last time I will ever give them my money. Called one time and felt like I was interupting the most important event on earth. Plenty of other options. DO NOT risk your time and money they will find a way to either be rude or leave you hanging without options.

Hate U-Haul? Love this locationNormally I loath renting from U-Haul, but its a necessary evil. This location has the friendlies staff and check-out/check-in was extremely fast. Very delighted. Theyre now my primary location!

HORRIBLE service. Thats expected. However, the people here do not even know their own policy.The manager is very rude has nonexistent customer service skills.Oh, dont try to call for anything urgent. Their number is to a call center that cant transfer you to the store. You can only leave messages in hopes to be followed up with.DONT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE!The name on my account has been wrong for 6 months and Ive tried to correct it every month when I pay and they totally ignore my requests.The list goes on.Horrible staff and management.

Staff is garbage. Don’t bother calling because they’re extremely busy in their empty store and will leave you on hold until you give up. The 800 number is completely out of touch and will book you for hours that aren’t even within the hours of operation for their locations. Our pickup was scheduled for 8PM, store closes at 7PM. We scheduled for 24hrs, but 800 number said we’re good to return the following day as soon as they open. We did so and was charged an additional day even though we couldn’t use it for the 2nd day because they were “overbooked.” Associates don’t care about their dead-end job, nor the company and especially not the customer. We called to resolve the issue but the “manager” of this location thought it’d be better to get into a shouting match instead. He tried to intimidate us, but only came off looking desperate fighting for nickels and dimes. No communication between scheduling and locations, no customer service, and the “manager” made it for an overall trash experience. No worries though, lesson learned.

I have made reservation from a different location but probably it was not available and the system gave it to me from a location that was 5 miles away. The office refused to waive the extra 10 mile cost. So i had to rent a trailer instead of a cargovan to keep the price similar. Next day when i return my equipment, the person work outside was telling me to pull the trailer to a different spot on parking lot which was not easy with a trailer. It took me a while to convience him that this was the spot where a picked the trailer. Keep telling me that it is common sense not to return the trailers where the trucks are. But that are was only one designated as equipment return. Therefore i was not happy with my rental.

Was told we had a spot available to store our camper. Move-in date was provided along with a receipt of our space. Went there on move-in date and was told the spot didnt exist. I would give zero stars, since we got zero accommodation from them, but had to at least give 1 star to post.

Ordered hitch online. Had scheduled appoint and was contact by the store ro cancel appointment. I have not heard from the store since the first cancellation. Call center has rescheduled but store still did not have the hitch and did not contact me. Still waiting. Think twice before using this store.

STAY AWAY! last week I called to confirm our reservation of a 6X12 trailer. I was told that it wasnt there, but it would be brought over from Evanston. Arriving Saturday morning, lo and behold it was not at Morton Grove and no one from Morton Grove or Evanston had the trailer. I was also told that if i did not move my car it would be towed. Ultimately I had to go to 6508 N. Western Avenue, but was told that Morton Grove would pay for the rental. Upon arriving at the Western Avenue location, I was told I had to pay for the rental. According to the owner of the Western Avenue location I was told that Morton Grove always lies regarding patrons recouping their money. Two hours wasted due to lies and bad business policies. Remember STAY AWAY!!!!!

Hi, My name is John w Pointer Sr.,I have been working for uhaul moving and storage for 2 years, at the Morton Grove location and not once have we had our phones forwarded. My team now is full of hardworkers that put there all into everything we do. We put our all in satisfying our customers. And more..., We are very knowledgeable when it comes to our equipment, propane, uboxes and hitches and etc. The Gen. Manager that is here now is GREAT! So everything that you all are is not accurate. It might have happened in the past but is a whole new crew here. Come and see.
