We were on our way home to Missouri from a family vacation in Ouray when my husbands transmission in his truck started acting up. We stopped and stayed the night in Montrose and the next morning we found this shop. The owner and his wife were amazing and genuine people. They immediately got us in and looked at the truck to figure out if we could continue on or have to leave the truck behind. He was honest and not at all pushy. We ended up driving the truck home and thankfully made it the whole way. If his shop was close to our home, its who we would have fix it.

Went in for quote. What I needed they advertised they did. Person had to talk to manager. Manager asked her to get info. I gave it and she wrote it down on a postit note.Never heard back from them. Dont go there.

Always great to get a second opinion was told by Lance . I needed a new transmission in my 02 Mercedes c240.. picked it up and took to another mechanic.. and he filled with transmission fluid and it runs and drives no issues.

Its rare to find companies that are here to help rather than make a quick buck. We were traveling from out of town, had car problems and came to the shop. Lance ran a quick check but with a newer model car it was difficult to diagnose computer issues that required a trip to the dealership. Rather than just turn us away he did everything he could to help us out. He made a few phone calls to people he knew and even offered a loaner vehicle so we could get around town (which is not a standard service). All without expecting a dime. I offered payment for his time but he refused. Its tough to find good mechanics you can trust but Im confident Lance has your best interest in mind. Thank you.

This place used to be amazing. However who ever is in the main lobby is rude.

I brought my car here because it was making a noise. They very promptly looked at it and the repair was minor so they didnt even charge me. On top of that, I left something in the lobby and they called me to let me know and then mailed it to me since I live 5 hrs away. Thank you so much!

Oh my Gosh, I can’t begin to thank Lance and Missy at AATCO Transmission enough for everything they’ve done for me these last couple of days. I’m traveling up from Texas to Idaho and beyond and my Transmission went out! They put in a new one in record time, I’ll be back in the road tomorrow morning!!! Came in from out of town and stopped by because our car was making a strange sound. They got the car in right away, took it for a test drive to hear the sound and fixed the problem (a bent bar and a loose piece) in less than 15min, for no charge. Everything was explained clearly, and everyone was very helpful. Fantastic!

They did an awesome job replacing my jeep transmission. Once the transmission was ordered it took only a day and a half to install it upon arrival.

We were so well taken care of at this repair shop yesterday! Lance and some of the rest of the crew worked after closing to ensure that we could make it safely back to Denver! We cannot thank them enough for their good and honest work on our car!

Brought my truck in with trouble shifting into park. Was told they were going to drop the transmission pan and inspect for any damage or any sign of what was causing the shifting issues. Got a call later saying it needed a new transmission and would cost $3000. Went ahead and got a second opinion and it turned out that was a total lie. The other shop dropped the pan and found a broken park sprawl rod in the pan which was causing the problems. Dont trust their word, always get second opinion.

Our trans went out coming over Red Mountain and we managed to limp it to their shop-had no choice. It was Saturday and we called just to leave a message that we left it there and will call tow Monday. We go a call back from them maybe 5 mins later saying they would look at it Monday if we wanted! Definitely took them up on that offer and they ended up fixing it after theyve us a quote we could live with.

I have been a customer of AATCO Transmissions for over 10 years now. The owners have a always treated me honestly and I cant imagine going anywhere else for my automotive needs. They have even provided my with transportation to work and back to pick up my car at the end of the day which has been a life saver since I only have one vehicle. If you are looking for a reasonable and reliable place to take your car I would highly recommend this company!

This place will rob you. Had it happen to me first hand. They took my transmission and hid it out back to show me a different one that was destroyed inside. No way the one I had would shift all six gears and roll over fine when the one they showed me had a counter shaft broken in half. Shouldnt try to lie to a veteran mechanic.

I guess they only take care of out of state customers because almost all the good reviews are from out of town or state. I had a horrible experience. They will never touch my truck again. Cheating crooked owner and technicians.

Thank you AATCO!! I had previously taken my subaru to another place in Montrose and they diagnosed my issue 3 separate times and none of these were the problem. I was into this other business for almost $2K when I finally brought it to AATCO, they got me right in, within hours of calling, did their own FREE diagnostic and said that if for season that is not the problem they wouldnt charge me for what they did and they would go back in and figure it out. But no need they fixed it for just over $200 and I was out the door. I only wish I had not taken it to the other place first. Thank you for your time AATCO, I will be bring my families vehicles to you all from now on

The worst repair shop! Lance Russell ripped us off! Beware! Make sure you get the Certificate that says ATRA. They put water in the transfer case so we would have to spend extra $ when we broke down. Crooks! Don’t do it. Read ALL the reviews online!! They left my husband stranded. They didn’t want another ATRA shop to touch the trans or case. What this other shop found was negligence of the techs and cheap parts. They would not refund any of our money. They offered and sold us the ATRA warranty but failed to give it, gave us a house warranty only.Background check Lance Russell see what you find! 😳

I have to disagree with Jerry. I have know and done business with Rick and Jan for several years. I have never had to return to have a job redone. I have never felt like i was cheated and never paid above the estimate they quoted. I have always been treated with respect and kindness and will only use them for my transmissions needs. I came in for a transmission service, the technician was great and explained to me the importance of taking caring of my filters and fluid regularly as I would my engine . He was very knowledgeable and took his time to show and explain. I wouldnt; go any where else now !

We have a fleet of vans we use for our outfitting business. Hauling big loads in unfavorable conditions is hard on the rigs, so maintenance issues are common. We have used Aatco for a couple of repairs. They have done the repairs with skill and professionalism. Their prices have been fair. They are now my go to for auto work.

My truck broke down nearby on a cross country trip. My problems with AATCO started when the reason they gave for a one day delay in completion was either untrue (my view) or incorrect (theirs). They would not tell me what they considered the correct reason. Two months later, the truck started leaking at the connections to the transmission cooler that AATCO installed. The transmission runs consistently hotter than prior to the breakdown. Closer inspection reveals that they used 1/2 inch low pressure fuel line in lieu of 5/8 inch transmission oil cooler line. They used barb-style connectors. All restrict flow, which is unacceptable per Allison. The cooler itself is made by Long and appears to be a 4590 or H7B, which retail elsewhere for $116 or $95, respectively. I was charged $310 plus installation and tax. As far as I can determine, Long does not make a cooler compatible with the Allison transmission in my truck. No part of the cooler installation is correct. I am left with no confidence in the parts or workmanship of the portion of the job I cant see, the transmission rebuild itself. Worst auto repair experience in my 40 years of driving.

They robbed me. I was a thousand miles from home in my jeep and they raped me fo close to r $5,000 And kept me waiting and stranded for over a week.When I got home I called the local transmission shop and they gave me a quote with a better warranty for half the cost.AATCO will lie to you constantlyGO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!

Dishonest! They claim to have rebuilt the transmission, but they didnt.. They also refused to provide a warranty that they claimed would be provided. The transmission had to be rebuilt again by a reputable company that documented in detail that AATCO could not have rebuilt it because of the condition it was in. Pieces were missing, broken, and old. It was not repaired despite taking it back time and time again. The staff kept blaming other mechanical issues when, in fact, none existed. Im glad I will never have to deal with them again!

Wow, cant say good enough things about them. Our transmission fluid was bone dry on a cross country trip and they took care of us. Just amazing.

I went in with my 1 ton Chevy truck, I needed a new transmission they said and gave me a price. I checked around, asked around and found they were competively priced and knew exactly what they were talking about. I am glad I chose them, any questions or concerns I had were readily answered and addressedI highly recommended them

My mom had a Ford Taurus she took to them for transmission diagnosis she was then called a few hours later from their shop saying she needed a new transmission and it would be 2500 dollars to rebuild and install my mom didnt have the money at the time so she wanted to wait! Little did she know they already had her transmission out of the vehicle without her authorisation to do any repairs at all they were only supposed to drive it and diagnose it my mom had told lance that they didnt have any authorisation from her to pull the transmission out and lance was very rude and told my mother well if you dont like it then I can put all the parts in the trunk of the car and you can come tow it home! Needless to say my mom had to come up with the 2500 to have it repaired lance is a scam artist do not take anything to them !!

We were on a road trip a thousand miles from home and got stranded when my alternator stopped working. We took it to AATCO and they had it fixed in an hour and a half! If it weren’t for the great people at this shop (Debbie?, John, and Big John) our vacation would have been a disaster. Thanks, guys!

They put a clutch in when I broke down near Montrose last year. They charged me at least $300 more than my mechanic at home said they should (I called him). They padded labor. But worse, they botched the job..badly. It was still under warranty when it failed on me, it turned out because they neglected to install a key part of the clutch kit. When I called them Lance told me that they would take care of me, but only if I towed it to a different shop, one certified by ATRA. I jumped through that hoop, even though it cost me a big tow. I thought since it was $1000 on the line it was worth it. When that shop discovered that the clutch had been ruined because of their neglect, I tried to have Lance stand behind his word, and the shops owners stand behind their warranty and business. They obviously were hoping that the shop they chose for me would not find that it was a bad clutch. They screwed me good. A man has only two real things: his word and his work. If he doesnt stand behind either, well... Thats something I learned when I was very small, and it applies to businesses just the same. I wish I would have pushed my vehicle back home rather than trusting it with these people.UPDATE: I filed a complaint with ATRA about this shop and of course they still refuse to do anything for me. If ATRA continues to certify this place that means to me it is not worth considering whether a shop is certified ATRA or not. It apparently does not mean much.

I would not suggest taking your vehicle there at all, over priced bad service !! I would rather take my car to grand junction
