Probably the best and most authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. I got the chicken tacos, the food was prepared by the cashier’s grandma and it’s as close to a really good home-cooked meal as you can get without actually going to a Mexican household. I really recommend it!

Arizona tea marked 99cents on the can. They are selling for $2.50. No salt or pepper on any table. Ask and told they do not have. Did not get my coffee until we were done eating

I ordered huevos rancheros. Ive eaten Mexican breakfasts both in Mexico and the United States, this was easily one of the best Mexican breakfast plates I have ever had.

I love their tacos, especially their birria taco! But remember tacos are their specialty so their burritos aren’t the best. I’ve only tried their super burrito with chicken but it was only okay. Their salsa is surprisingly sweet but I love sweet foods so I thought it went well with everything.It’s also right next to the gym (Monterey Sports Center) so it’s a good post-workout meal! I know chicken is the best for building muscle but maybe at this place, opt for the beef.Sometimes the front door is locked so go in through the back door and walk past all the heavy liquor.As for atmosphere, it’s not really upscale and they blast Latin music sometimes but I liked the music and the service too.

Such care and attention to details were put into making the delicious burritos and tacos I had. Birria tacos made me feel like I was eating something my grandmother lovingly prepared for me, with amazing salsa verde and just the right amount of red onions. A hidden gem.

We went into the restaurant/store at 8:30pm. The older woman behind the counter, went and made us six of the best tacos we have ever had. We had the pescado, carnitas and carne asada. They were all worth getting and delicious. Highly recommend this place. It is a hidden gem.

Cheap eats with an interesting vibe. Enjoyed a langua (tongue) taco and a chicken burrito with the delux added... meaning cheese and lettuce. Worth the extra price for a small scoop of iceberg lettuce? Eh... The taco was great and the tongue cooked very well, soft and enjoyable. The best part about the food was the green hot sauce on the taco and the red sauce for the burrito. The store in confusing, and you have to order at the register, then take a piece a paper to the kitchen. Then wait and pray you see your food because they do not call a name, a number or bring it to you. This is the hard part, not knowing what you are supposed to do, and this would being up the rating a star. Juke box in the corner that keeps reminding you it is there as is plays a song every 10 min at random. It is around the corner from the gym, so we might pop in again.

If I were rating this place solely on the taste of the food Id give it 5 stars, but the ambiance is pretty rough around the edges. If you are looking for some authentic food come here, youre taste buds wont be disappointed. I ordered the shrimp tacos with rice and beans.

I don’t recommend paying by card here. The cashier charged me $700 over what I actually bought from the convenience store. I didn’t realize it until I got home and looked at the receipt online from my square account. I have tried getting in touch with the owner several times to get my money back but he refuses. I am very disappointed in the service I received and will get this company blacklisted so that all service members will be notified that this place should be off limits.

Go there most evenings. You know...have a beer, pay $1 extra to drink it there but I also charge my phone at the same time so its worth it to me. Never have enough $$ to buy food there even though their prices are fair. After reading others reviews, I would love to try the food. I know it smells delicious. So I put this out to you...if you see the 2 long- haired brindle dogs out front Im inside if u feel like breaking bread with me. I burn calories not fuel! Who knows? Amazing tacos!

This is the best place to eat. The ghetto makes everything better. The burrito was so delicious I felt light headed. It was true Mexican orange rice. Just like I have at home. To top this off the music was loud to sooth everything down.

I confess the five star rating is based on a central coast curve. Still, a solid four stars even by LA standards. The tacos are large, about twice the size of a standard street taco. At $2.25 its a good value. The carnitas is always very tender. The best part is you can grab a cold beer from the case and drink it up front while you eat your tacos. There is usually an interesting mix of people in the dining room. Fisherman, local businessmen, tourists all hang out here. You can see the ocean from the dining room.

Rice and bean plate was smaller portioned than expected, but the flavor of the tacos was on point 👌🏻 Definitely recommended if in the area! Try the chille verde salsa

I go here once a week for a sandwich or mexican food for lunch. Its kind of a diamond in the rough. The food is excellent. They can make you a deli sandwich, but their chicken tamales are awesome. Yum

When it was Casa Bodega it was the best now its no bueno. Who puts hot carrots on an American sandwich? Who uses three-day-old torta bread for an American deli sandwich? A Monterey Bay staple is now ruined because somebody took over and made it that way. Very disappointed. Emoji :-(

Great, deep selection of Lagunitas products, more variety than you will find elsewhere, in stock and on hand, right by the beach and they have firewood for beach fires. I like being able to know I can go there and get what I want, instead of some chain drugstore that just has standard brands.

I consider myself somewhat of a taco connoisseur so I was thrilled to find such tasty tacos here. It is a mini-mart/taqueria. We ordered carnitas and carne asada tacos to-go. Even after stopping at another taqueria and then the beach these tacos were not soggy! The tortilla held up very well, despite being only single layered (lots of places double up), and they were well dressed with salsa. The real star of the show was the meat. My husband and I both liked the carnitas best, it was flavorful and juicy with just a hint of sweetness. The asada was also delicious, not chewy like you sometimes find, very flavorful and chopped into smaller bites which made it easier to eat. You cant beat these tacos for the price.

Excellent tacos, friendly people. Picked up tacos to go, got lengua, birria, and al pastor, all with red onions, cilantro, & verde salsa. Lengua was tender & cooked right, al pastor was spicy & flavorful, birria was the best - fall apart tender & delicious.

Horrible service!!!. Came in at 830 pm they close at 9pm, lady said she would move us to a bigger restaurant because we had a party of 16. We walked 7 blocks to the bigger restaurant. Got there and staff was unhappy to see us. Told us we could eat but had to leave in 30 min. We ended up leaving, HORRIBLE SERVICE, NEVER GO THERE!!!
