This is the best place to go on the wharf for fine chocolates, salt water taffy, and kettle corn popcorn. Each chocolate piece is deliciously fresh and handcrafted. One of my favorites to purchase is their milk chocolate pecan caramel turtle. They are generous in diameter and thick with a nice amount of chocolate for the perfect bite. Even when theyre busy as they often are, the employees are helpful and the line moves quickly.
Great customer service and the treats are super yummy. Kiddos got the chocolate covered bananas, hubby got the cherry ice cream and I got some toffee Almonds. Will come back soon!
I love their dark chocolate English toffee. I first had theirs in 1986 and it is still the greatest. They also make their own saltwater taffy on a machine in the window but I dont care much for that. I am glad I didnt buy at the first candy store. Not that they may not also be good, but Carousel Candies is the original. I think the first candy store used to sell ice cream in fresh waffle cones -- there is a waffle cone rack behind the counter but no more ice cream. I enjoyed coming back here.
My grandparents first took me to Carousel Candies when I was 4 years old and 45 years later its still one of my first stops when I visit Fishermans Wharf. They have the best taffy & caramel corn. Give them a try, Im sure you wont regret it. 😊👍
Ordered strawberry boba a few days ago in hopes of having a new liking for boba tea since I never had it before. While ordering, I was told there were no more boba bubbles that were used in the milk tea and I didn’t believe that because they literally had some the day before. No sign or anything even said there was no boba or a boba shortage so I had no idea about them being “out”. I understand there was a boba shortage nation wide but there’s no way they were out on boba bubbles. Wasted my time in line for nothing since the line was long. Workers seemed like they didn’t know how to do their job and lack of staff were there.
Double charged my card and doesnt answer the phone. Make sure to check you bank statement asap after buying from them so you dont get scammed, especially if you are a tourist passing by
I feel like this place is hit or miss. We returned because we had a great experience when we visited last year. The second visit, the man was very friendly giving us samples of caramel and taffy that were very good. We decided to buy a bag of caramel and he gave us a handful on top of that. Then we tried the bag we purchased and it was a bad batch. He’s giving a good batch out for samples to sell the bad batch which tastes super salty. My son loves caramels and will not eat them. The hay stacks we bought the last time were nothing but coconut covered in chocolate. not the usual thicker crunch of a hay stack. The strawberries in the chocolate covered strawberries I got were soggy and didn’t taste rip. The mint fudge was the worst fudge I’ve ever eaten. The huckleberry white chocolate was the best thing we got but it was delicious. The taffy was also pretty good. Me and my husband question if they changed owners or if maybe they’re struggling due to covid. Just didn’t seem like the same quality as last time.
This place is a Hidden gem. They have the best candies and nuts that I have ever had. Their Carmel Corn is incredible. Other than trying to get through to them to order is very difficult unfortunately.
The fudge was fresh and delicious. Try the almonds with vanilla
I wish I lived closer to this place... as it is I bought 6lbs to go...
The folks that own and operate this place are kind and sweet. Their products are superb and amazing. Well worth stopping by and enjoying the amazing and sometimes unique and sometimes traditional treats. There is something for everyone.
A little overpriced but you can expect that from being in a tourist spot like Old Wharf. The selection was varied and they had many unique things that I’ve never seen anywhere else! A nice novelty place to go.
LOVE this place!!! Me and my family come here to visit every single summer!! I remember as a little girl pressing my face against the window and watching the taffy puller 🍬
I placed an order online for 2 1/2 lbs of sugar free candy. I originally gave a low rating due to a problem I had with the order and was not satisfied when I called the store. However I received a very nice email from the managers explaining they want to get to the bottom of the problem and will help me as much as they can. Therefore, I am changing my rating to a four because their candy is, after all, delicious.
Had my first apple caramel. Taste weird but good! The selection of candy is amazing though Im not a sweet-tooth myself.
Very disappointed! I ordered 2 red cinnamon candy apples for a Valentines day gift for a loved one, which were not delivered. The recipient received salt water taffy and some other type of candy instead, which made me was very upset, since my original order was suppose too be candy apples. I will not use this company any more. :(
I gave you a decent review and I now see it wasnt published. Okay, the caramel didnt even taste like caramel. I guess when you are used to high end candy such as Sees, it is hard to go to other candy stores.
So delicious all their candy and treats they have the best caramel corn and we always stop here when were in town
Great candy store located on the wharf that has almost anything your sweet tooth desires! There are several candies that they make themselves, such as their chocolates, salt water taffy, fudge, and popcorn. If you are curious in trying something before buying, you can always ask for a sample and they are more than willing to give you one.
Such a good candy place but they jacked my money!! My total was $52.41, I paid $40 CASH and the REST ON MY CARD, which should have been $12.41. I come to check my bank account and they used my card to pay the whole $52.41 AND THEY STILL TOOK MY CASH!! They don’t pick up the phone and I live 6 hours away!!
I bought a plain caramel apple on Saturday May 21. Saved it for today Sunday the 22nd. It had black mold on the stick inside the apple and the apple definitely was not fresh. Lucky for me, I had them slice it so I only had one bite before finding the mold. Tried to call, but like a previous review I also got a voice mailbox that was full. Terrible business. Dont stop here, there is another option on the wharf.
Good quality 👍
Lots of options that look delicious, but I was there waiting to order for 5 minutes (there was no one else at the counter waiting to be helped) and none of the 4 employees there asked if I needed anything (they kept working behind the counter), so I just left.
Best Rocky Road in the bay. You must try.
Too bad the service wasnt very good much like everyone else here has shared. The store itself is in a good location and I like the fortune telling machines out front.
Over charged me paid $21 for 4 pieces of candy
I placed an order a week ago and my mother never got the shipment. I called them and there is no answer and it says the mail box is full so you cant leave a message. What kind of business is this? Also there is no email address so I guess I have to call my credit card company.
Overpriced and not good quality - avoid!!! The rocky road was mostly marshmallow and cheap chocolate
Appears caramel was really good!
This is mine & my whole familys favorite place to come when we visit Monterey. We have been coming here for years now. Everything in this place is so good & we always get the Caramel Popcorn (On are last visit we noticed the Caramel Popcorn tastes the same but after a day it softened up & it never did that before, oh well its still are favorite!) I also have to say the older man (Sorry we didnt get his name) hes super sweet, always smiles, does a great job at everything he does & he is super friendly. Also a big thank you to him for letting us sample the Buttery Toffee Almonds, we regret that we disnt buy a big box to go (My husband loved them & when we finally got home he said man I wish I had some of those Yummy Almonds, I told him we should of bought some...Lol) but next time for sure we are buying a box of are favorite Caramel Popcorn & are new favorite Buttery Toffee Almonds.
They have a neat taffy pulling machine at the front
My favorite place to get fudge, when Im in the area. -Regina
Taffy very good and fresh
Love the caramel corn.
Very solid, traditional salt water taffy
