Wonderful treats - a great way to satisfy a chocolate fix. We ended up spending way more than planned. And the salted carmel banana shake was amazing!

Ocean Front Ice Cream!I got the Hot Fudge Sundae which was very good. Enjoyed a table by the ocean and enjoyed the beautiful day.Good location short walk from the aquarium. I was there at 3:30 or so on October 1st with no line at all. Staff is great here.

We just left the amazing Monterey Aquarium and decided to buy a few pieces of the incredible Ghirardelli chocolate. An exhibit at the Aquarium showed the problem we have around the globe with plastics. So when we went into Ghirardelli to purchase, I was shocked to find ONLY plastic bags and plastic containers to put our chocolates in! We declined these of course, and put them in our pockets instead!

Best Sunday and thick shakes. friendly staff! And they had various offer like 5for 20$ chocolate bags. Do try the Sunday, its definitely not just for one 😂 or if you are alone may be its for one.

Me and my friends went here a week or so ago and this guy at the register, Michael, seriously made the whole giant wait in line worth it. This guy had impeccable customer services and made our transactions and overall experience very enjoyable. In all honesty had he not been part of the experience this would probably be rated a 3. Also food related, I got a root beer float and it wasnt above and beyond any other root beer float you could make at home. The price was reasonable however so Im not complaining

Ice cream and chocolate so delicious. We love going here for the treats. Customer service sucks. They act like Im bothering them. Cookies are super hard so I suggest passing on them.

Always make it a point to stop here when in Monterey! Due to COVID, they’ve restriced all outdoor and indoor dining and only serve in to-go cups. There was no line to order but we had to wait outside with 30+ people who ordered in front of us. Our order came out within 15 minutes.We ordered the World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae. Size is good enough for 2-3 people in my opinion. Really sweet, thick, decadent fudge paired with vanilla ice cream.

The ice cream itself was amazing! And there was certainly more then enough in one cup! YUM. Although the customer service wasn’t good… we stood in line a very long time (I understand things get tense when it’s busy, but no need to be rude) when we got to the register there was a family with a young boy, who was rolling a train Christmas ornament across the counter. The employee YANKED the ornament from the boys hand and told him not to be playing with things that aren’t toys and “you break it, you buy it”… he went to put it back on the shelf. And the parents informed him that that was something they were bringing to the register to buy in the first place. How rude! Right after that, I payed with cash. He did not hand me back my change, instead, he handed it to my male fiancé??? Again. Rude! I was going to leave that change as a tip, but changed my mind after that fiasco.

Great if you go in knowing a few things... Know that you will pay approximately $15 per ice cream Sunday and each one should feed 2 or 3 people. Wait will be long and service is slow. Overall it was good but pricey for what you get

Delicious mochas! Google Maps said it wasnt too busy in the afternoon but in fact it was quite busy. We waited around 15 minutes or more for two drinks. While the wait was a little long for me, the drinks were worth it. They were absolutely delicious! Cannot recommend enough.

We had a horrible customer service experience today. When we got there they had a pretty long line, but we got in the line anyway and waited. There was one line and only one person working the register. After about 25-30 min we had finally made it to the front. We were about 3 people away from the register when a bunch of people walked in and formed a second line. Instead of helping all of us who had been waiting all that time, the guy at the register starts pulling from the line that just formed. It’s was unbelievable! Needless to say there were a bunch of angry people including us. We ended up just walking out and going elsewhere. Definitely not how you treat people.

Weve always enjoyed their chocolates. However, they only had one line for those who picked up pre-packaged items and for those who were ordering food. Took me forever just to buy a dozen individually wrapped chocolates.

You cant beat ice cream with melted Ghirardelli fudge and chopped almonds. Very fresh and delicious! Good coffee too. Nice patio views.

The ice cream was tasty, a flavor my daughter got she said it was the best, I didnt get the flavor!! Mine was rocky road ice cream and I enjoyed it, they didnt have anymore waffle cones I got it on a sugar cone, my delight was waffle cone!!!

First review but not the first time here. This place will always be a great place for dessert. The time between ordering and getting the dessert was fairly quick. Pictures is the frozen hot cocoa and a custom milkshake where you choose 3 different chocolate squares in their store. Delicious!

The presentation of the dessert is very poor. It was well and truly leaking like this on the side. This is very unappealing to the eye. It does taste amazing but looks matter and would have appreciated it if someone wiped the sides and at least I won’t have a sticky messy hand eating it. There is no bathroom at this place so it was so annoying to have to wash hands. The hot chocolate did taste amazing. They were giving our samples for the chocolate which is a good idea too!

Great place to stop for ice cream on cannery row. Like most of its desserts, a bit on the expensive side, but totally worth it. Has the same menu as any other their other shops, but not usually too busy. Recommend the knob hill sundae or milkshake?

First of all, there was a long line out the door here for ice cream and chocolates. They were passing out caramel chocolates samples. It was a little sweet for me.We ordered ice cream at the register. The lady at the register said, pick up the ice cream at the corner station. Thats where ice cream is made. Unfortunately she meant thats the corner to pick up ice cream. Ice cream is not made there.Seating : no seats indoor or outdoor was available.Water : they told us no water was available for guests. They ran out of water in the building. How are they operating? Employees are suppose to wash hands. 😳😳😳😳Ice cream was good but pricey for one scoop of ice cream.

Love this store and was excited to go in, we were there on Monday 5/10 and there was an older guy working and was very rude Not inviting to the customers AT ALL !!! We walked out before we told him anything. He rudely reminded those who walked in to use the hand sanitizer which were large bottles at the front door, and on all the counters that couldnt be missed, when we walked in he asked us what we were looking for (DUH chocolate) he pointed for us to walk in one area for the candy or the other area if we wanted ice cream which was also very obvious But he was still very loud and very rude to make it a point that he was in charge ? I GUESS. all this while he was attending to another customer. Like I said we walked out because of him. Management needs to work on this, I mean I get it, its still because of Covid BUT you can be Nice about it, not a rude @#$h that makes customers walk out.

The shop smells wonderful, the ice cream worth the little side trip, employees were great.

Always a treat to stop by here when visiting Monterey! Its usually always busy but the staff is always friendly and courteous and wiling to hand out free samples with every new customer entering the building. Love sharing the sundaes with my husband but always refreshing to get scoops of ice cream with a warm drink.

Great patio in back with view of Bay. Today we saw an otter and several seals. Our hot chocolate and strawberry banana float were excellent. Service is fine.

Amazing, Ive never seen my friend so in awe with how good ice cream tasted. Midnight Reverie (the awe-inducing one) and the World Famous Sundae is what we had. The location, also, is beautiful!

I understand due to COVID lots of things have changed but do you see this? Prices are still the same, why isn’t the quality the same. What I got a couple months ago vs. today. This a joke. Do better.

The Monterey Ghirardellis is amazing. The service and the ice cream are the best. We had horrible service in San Franciscos Ghirardelli but Monterey totally made up for it.

Line was long but expected for a busy weekend however it moved quickly and the manager Don was extremely helpful at the counter. Great customer service and great ice cream!!

You need to replace the pictures with the plastic containers / cups used (Post-Covid) time with the Sundae’s in them. Disappointed.. & sitting outside? Forget about it. But if you are coming into town & never been to Ghirardelli’s, enjoy if you never had!!

Great little shop, the balcony had good views and all the outside tables have outside hearing which is very helpful at night.

They have the absolute best warm chocolate chip cookies in the entire universe. I would go every day if I could and wish they had a location in San Jose but then again that wouldnt be so good when I stepped on the scale lol

This is the first Ghirardelli Ice Cream Shop Ive actually gotten ice cream from. Ive seen them from time to time on other vacations but I was staying at an Inn nearby with my husband on a weekend trip and we decided to come inside and try the ice cream.It was a crowded night with a long line but it moved quickly and we ordered and easily found a table for two outside on the patio area (inside is very loud and crowded but there is seating inside as well).He chose the salted caramel sundae while I chose the John Muir with chocolate and cherry ice cream and fudge. Both were delicious though I think I may have liked his more.Both were very generous in size, toppings and calories and were absolutely amazing and rich and filling.Talk about food baby! They have tons of decadent items on the menu for you to enjoy. Its not cheap, but its a fun treat!

Quality matters, and the plus side is they give you quantity as well! Had the Treasure Island, which is the same as the original sundae but with a brownie too. Ate every last morsel!

The lady at the entrance was good and greeted and the gentlemen was nice and the person taking the order was really helpful. This gentlemen that severed the order was rude and had attitude, treated my family as we had the virus with us.. not good..

There was a line to get in but it was moving quickly. Went on a Saturday night. Our orders were taken by a lovely gentleman called Don. He was very nice and personable. The ice cream sundaes, of course, were fantastic!

I dont understand why ghiradellis exclusively sells their amazing ice cream where everything is touristy and expensive but it is legitimately one of the best Ice creams Ive had the hot fudge always amazes me. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Like other comments had mentioned, the employees are disrespectful over COVID-19 policies and treat you like you have the virus. If I was spoken to politely, they would’ve had my business. Instead, they spoke to me (the gentleman in particular) in a very rude manner so I went elsewhere.

So the wait time was super long. The Ive cream was good, but the price was really expensive. I should have stopped at Baskin Robbins and would have been happier.

Limited COVID menu still had great options. We had a dipped waffle cone scoop and special sundae. Both delicious. Also some chocolates buy one get one. Sanitation and spacing of customers effective and efficient.

I enjoy the plucking-your-own bar, but I was really disappointed the the PB chocolates are gone, just because of minority of allergic customers. This policy is unfair to others. I hope the ice cream stand reopens soon.

Is very sweet and special place for special treats. It smells wonderful here and the staff are very polite and friendly. The treats they serve are at a fair price with good quality ingredients. I love to visit from time to time for a little chocolate or maybe an ice cream sundae. Absolutely delicious.

Fancy place to just get some ice cream. Staff is wearing retro classics outfit. Quality was excellent. We had to order from a menu without seeing or tasting opportunity.

We just had the nicest experience at the Ghiradelli Ice Cream shop in Monterey. We told Don it was our 45th anniversary and he gave us a discount - but that wasnt the best part. He was so kind and his words really brought us a lot of joy on this special occasion. And the ice cream - an added treat! Sincere thanks!

This is probably the smallest Ghirardellis I have been in. That said they maximize their allotted space. They have a large selection of candy. Plus cookies, brownies, and ice cream. To order an ice cream dish you grab a menu, figure out what you want, and place your order at the front counter. Pickup is in the back. They have a good selection of Sundays, milkshakes, etc that they make. The selection of ice cream is good but not great. If you have ever been to one of their large stores you will know what I am talking about. The people working here are super friendly, helpful, and have great attitudes.

The chocolate is the obvious reason to go here. But this location is special. You can eat one of several amazing sundaes while sitting on their back deck literally looking at the beach and ocean beneath you. Great place to take a break from sight seeing and recharge.

08/04/2020 to the super cute guy who brought out my friend and is affogatos and seen us stretching and told us its never a bad time for some yoga . I appreciate you youre super freaking cute and super sweet. great customer service.

It is THE place to go on Cannery Row for a sweet treat. The cookie bit sundae and the Nob Hill chill milkshake are the best. Very happy and helpful staff. The back patio hangs over the bay and the view is spectacular.

They ran out of real vanilla ice cream for their famous hot sundae! Are you serious??? Couldn’t even tell me what’s in the no-sugar added vanilla ice cream - some artificial sweetener??? No thanks. I don’t want to eat some artificial chemicals. Very disappointed.

Had great views but the ice cream was just ok. But their hot chocolate was gross, came from a machine rather than real home made hot cocoa. They are also REALLY expensive so be ready for that. There wasnt anything memorable, the staff werent even very friendly. Probably wont go back.
