We gave the diner a chance based on reviews. The service was amazing, staff were all attentive and waitress was extremely nice and patient. We order calamari to start, it was indeed tasty, crispy, and it was gone before we could take a picture. I also ordered a burger, salmon platter, and chicken fingers. The burger was juicy and tasty, the cheese made it all better. Fries were golden and crispy. The salmon was cooked well and had good flavor. I didn’t try the chicken nuggets but my son enjoyed them. I think I am ready to try additional items and continue to review but if you are in the area and hungry, the food is worth the bite!
The food wasnt good, took ages to arrive, and the staff were rude. After they gave us the bill we walked over to the till. I understood the place is busy, so we waited there and occupied ourselves. We were waiting ten minutes before we were able to pay the bill and leave.
I was pleasantly surprised by this little Diamond. It was my first time visiting this section of Montclair. All of the stores were very quaint and provided that old family atmosphere. I had never heard of Montclair Diner and only went by default. We were a group of six and not one of us had anything negative to say about our food or the service. I had the buffalo shrimp wrap, excellent but kept eyeing my staffs calamari salad. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend and most definitely will return.
This is our go to diner. Whenever I ask my four year old where to go she says the diner. I have 2 young children and this place is very child friendly. The staff are great and the food is good. Sometimes it’s hard finding a place which welcomes kids but this place does. One of the owner always checks to make sure everyone is happy and if something isn’t right, he fixes it. The server checks too so really you can’t leave this place unhappy!

It really is a shame, when a great place goes down the drain. I used to love going to Montclair Diner. Gus, the former owner (hes since retired), was a wonderful man. The food was consistently great. But over the last few months, its been consistently awful: cold French fries, hockey puck burgers, cold slices of the wrong cheese on the burger, eggs not prepared correctly, food taking forever to arrive even when the diner is empty. New management is running the place into the ground. I believe Ill bring my business elsewhere. Tonight was the last straw. There were four of us in our party, and three of our orders were a disaster. It took FOREVER for the food to arrive. Nothing was right, everything was cold and soggy. Disgusting. Waste of money. We all decided that well be meeting somewhere else from now on. Such a shame.

Our server, Samantha was excellent! I was with a party of 8. She was personable, efficient, and patient. The food was great. Portions were generous. Spacious outdoor dining was a definite bonus. My favorite was the blueberry pancakes - packed full of juicy fresh blueberries.I didnt order the shrimp and grits, but will do so next time, based on recommendations from others. Eliot Mosby was super welcoming and thoughtful. I highly recommend Montclair Diner. FYI. Theres a parking lot in back of the restaurant, if you cant find parking on Valley Road.
Nothing super special or remarkable but the servers were friendly and the bacon turkey club was good and priced reasonably. Place was clean and well lit.

Jersey loves Diners and this Diner does a great job. The food is great. Most Diners have mediocre coffee; however, the coffee here was better than average. The staff has a customer service mindset and I appreciate the manager stopping by to make sure we were having a wonderful experience. I will be returning!

My fiancé and I randomly found this place after realizing our used to be favorite diner Tops was closed. I say use to be because they have nothing on Monclair Diner, which is now my new fave. This place serves great customer service and finger linking delicious plates. My Fiance ordered the strawberry short cake french toast I believe and I hadThe Whoopi w/Chicken (Chicken and Waffles)Now.. complete transparency; I was a little concerned about ordering apple smothered waffles because its typically too sweet to consume. Im here to tell you the head chef needs a raise! The apples were perfect with a pinch of lime tart I believe, yummmmm. The chicken wasnt blah like Im accustom to it was well seasoned, not just salt and batter but well seasoned. And I swear the buffalo sauce was made personally for me, its exactly how I like it. It was 12pm on a Sunday so servers were too busy running the show to engage thoroughly with the tables which is fine because Eliot and another gentleman( I forgot his name, forgive me) did the honors of engaging with guest. They touched tables gracefully. Im 10 years in hospitality both restaurants and hotels. As a former hotel director of rooms and front office Im here to say I appreciate coming here. Oh and theres live music outside, the lead singer is fabulous and talented. I think its time for a face lift with this restaurant, maybe keep the same mom and pop style but just a good interior reno. Any way thanks for your hospitality, we will be back soon and this time were coming with our little.

My son took me to breakfast there today. And I was very impressed with the food as well as the service. Best grits I ever had fluffy and cooked to perfection. The whole meal was awesome. Great atmosphere will definitely be making another visit soon . To the owner you got a winner 💯‼👍🏾
Since the change of ownership the MD has stepped up its game. Many of the traditional diner favorites are there along with seasonal breakfast lunch and dinner specials. Including dishes like a keto friendly eggs Benedict which was tasty. A solid cup of coffee as well!

Used to love this joint. Went for a celebration breakfast, being fully vaccinated. Want a hot well- cooked, delicious breakfast? Not here. Everything was served cold and the french toast was barely introduced to the egg. Terrible. Gus!!!! Where are you??
The management is unfriendly. I had an issue with the way my meal was prepared and he was quite defensive. He had a very condescending tone and referred to me as hun more than once. His tone and approach to my concerns is the reason why I will not be returning to this establishment. The food is just okay.
The salmon burger 🍔was amazing. Made with fresh salmon. Not canned! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was on point with all of her recommendations. Awesome Place!!
I have always enjoyed my times at the Montclair Diner and love how Elliott and Gus have improved the menu . The staff is usually great and I love the Summer Sunday Jazz brunches . My only issue is that I would never go again near closing time . I felt rushed by my wait staff and my favorite Chicken and waffles included one undercooked wing which I estimate was from the rush to close the kitchen by 3pm.
I have been wanting to visit this place for some time now. The food was excellent! Service superb. Nice, small and cozy.
This is my first visit, there was a house dj crew playing. Was busy at the time. But the was seated under 15 mins (party of 5). The atmosphere was relaxed and child/ teenagee friendly. I would return again. There are parking spots nearby the train station.
This was the best brunch I’ve ever had. The yummy French toast was just a perfect combination of flavors and combined with the mimosa, it was heaven.
As we arrive, the owner greeted us and escorted us the out table. He explained that the booth in which we sat was a favorite of Yogi Barra and Bruce Willis.The food service was fast. My Cob Salad was large and taisty. After we had already paid and were getting ready to leave the owner asked us if we would like to try some rice pudding that he had just made. My 2 friends said no but I wasnt about to pass up the opportunity to try the pudding. Be came back with 3 bowls of rice pudding. It was a wonderful surprise and quite the treat too.
Eh..very terrible first experience. I expected more from this place but no. Walked in with my gf and we asked for the wait time and everything she said “25 mins” ok cool then she said “I’ll call you whenever there’s a free table” 10 20 30 mins pass. I was waiting in my car and came back inside to ask if they were ready for us. The waitress told me “yea you can sit anywhere you want” what? Weren’t you supposed to call us when the table was ready but she didn’t. She had a little attitude, she didn’t want to pick up the phone or nothing. Service was so terrible here we sat down and then waited an extra 20 more mins to get served. On top of that, the food took more than 30 mins to get to us the place was so loud. The cherry on top was the food…it was disgusting. First and last time eating at this diner. Not recommended.
My first time their, I had the grilled chicken ceasar, I have to tell you, at first I was thinking chicken will be dry like most places, but I truly have to say, it was the best grilled chicken I had in a long time, chicken was juicy and delicious, my hats off to the cook and management for running a great place to eat. The food was amazingly delicious. I had the steak which was grilled to perfection. To top it off the owner gave us a sample of the Yummy Toast, which melted in your mouth the combination of the berry sauce and cream cheese was a true delight to taste.

Extremely pleased by the service, the quality of the food and the cherry on top of the cake was the owner Gus stopped by our table, introduced himself, and asked us if we had time to try the Yummy French Toast...its a MUST HAVE! On 7/30, I called for pic up. Jennifer answered the phone. She was extremely and took my order. Arrived at the diner, everyone else was just as nice Jennifer. I enjoyed the penne vodka with grilled chicken. My sister enjoyed her stuffed sole as well. I will definitely go back.

My job ordered me food and this is the place I chose to have it ordered from. The food was not great, my sandwich was dry and when the place called me about my order I asked if there was sauce on it and after giving me a short answer she hung up on me. That SANDWICH DIDNT HAVE ANY ON IT, JUST A DRY PATTY FULL OF FILLING & BREAD. I wouldnt order from this place again and Ill tell everyone I know not to waste their time here....I took a L today smh

I recently noticed all the fake, phoney and fraudulent reviews you had posted extolling the virtues of your food, particularly your eggs Benedict. Let me tell you, I had your eggs Benedict and the English Muffin had the consistency of a hockey puck and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. Absolutely inedible, as was our entire order. People are probably served better food in prison.

First of all the staff was very nice I only came out smoke with us sloppy kiss with my old lady the food was okay it was pretty good they gave us a free sample of a french toast in a yummy tummy we had the chicken and waffles it was very delicious just need to get some different types of hot sauce something like Texas cheap it would really set off the chicken instead of Tabasco tour for that red hot the red-hot was not good at all it tasted like Tabasco sauce I need to invest in some Texas Pete
This was my first time eating at Montclair Diner. The diner had a family friendly welcoming environment, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly.Their all day breakfast is unique, and the staff was great helping out what to get. I had the Mexican Hot Chocolate Yummy Toast. The toast was delicious, and a perfect combination. My server Jennifer was very kind and attentive. I will absolutely return and recommend to anyone in the area.
