Had a great experience a James River Monroe. Worked with Berry Deal all I had to do was let him know the specs I was looking for in a mower and he showed me exactly what I was looking for. Found it in stock at another location had it delivered put togeather and ready to go for me in less than a week then dropped it right at my doorstep! Would recommend checking them out before going to any box stores. I wasted a lot of time there. I’ll be back for my next purchase!
Absolutely horrendous....to say the least. Brought our John Deere riding mower in for service in December 2020. All seemed well. Got the quote and accepted it...roughly $450+ for deck realignment, tire repair and oil change and blade sharpening. After a month, we received the riding mower back, and noticed that none of the repairs (except the oil/filter) had been done. When it was delivered, the man got the lawn mower stuck on the truck so he pushed it off the truck....breaking the deck pin. He even said Wow...that didnt sound good. Well...needless to say, when we saw no items were fixed (and after paying $400) and the deck pin was broke...we called back and ask them to do the job we initially asked them to do (and paid for). We spoke to numerous people and even the manager. Finally, we were able to bring the mower back in during February 2021. They took the mower back, and didnt start working on it until March 23, 2021. After that, we received no updates, so we called 4 times and received 4 different status updates. One day it was almost ready, the next day it was being worked on, the 3rd time it would be looked at in a week...and so on. The most painful part was, we still had to pay the $80 for a new pin. The pin that THEY broke...after already paying $400 for services we never received. And GUESS WHAT?! The man broke the pin AGAIN pushing it off the truck. I was so defeated because of this whole ordeal that I still paid the $80 for the broke pin/mower against my better judgement. He threatened me and wasnt going to leave and I didnt want to start a fight...its not who I was/am. Wasnt worth it at that point. Needless to say, the lawn mower is now in pieces in the garage...and has never worked after the team at James River Equipment destroyed it. We will NEVER NEVER NEVER use this place again and I will make sure nobody I know uses this place. They are a scam and borderline fraudulent. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and gave them a chance to right their mistake....and they blew it. Now, I post the bad review.
I would like to say that I had a terrific experience at James River Equipment in Monroe. I would like to start this review off by saying that I brought my John Deere D110 mower in for service and I was very satisfied with the service department and the prompt diagnosis. I ended up selling that machine and purchasing a John Deere x350 mower which I could not be more satisfied with. I would like to personally thank Barry for taking the time despite the rain to go over all the features and the differences between the mower I brought in and the x350. Barry is a true expert in the field and it was great to have an experienced person go through the details of the mowers even though they are all green and yellow. I really appreciate the staff at James River getting my new mower shipped from another dealer and getting the options installed quickly. I brought the mower home this afternoon and it is everything I thought it would be. Thanks for a great experience. I will certainly use Jims River in the future.
I have been searching for my first tractor for nearly two years and to be honest had not settled on a Green machine, that changed when I visited James River Equipment in Monroe. Jake (Not from SF) took the effort to walk out and greet me while I kicked the tires on what was in their yard (first time that happened at any tractor dealership I had visited previously). From there it was an educational experience on what I was looking for in a tractor. Using the superior education he received at N.C. State and his own personal knowledge, Jake proceeded to not only show me things I knew I was interested and didn’t know much about but he helped me to understand and let go of some of the pre-conceived ideas I had about my future tractor and what I thought I wanted. He helped me to weave through the myriad of implements offered and educated me on what was going to be best for my own personal application. Sometimes we upgraded what I wanted, other times we took it entirely off the list. Given my original intentions walking in the door it was truly a pleasant surprise to me that I walked out a tractor owner. I got everything I wanted and more, at a good deal and in the end not only do I feel great about my tractor (3033R) but I feel good about the relationship I’m going to have with James River Equipment. Any time you can walk away from a deal where everyone feels like a winner is a good deal. One of the best buying experiences I have had, thank you!

I just purchased a 3038E Compact Tractor. The experience was great. The sales associate Billy was helpful and informative.He helped me decide the right tractor for my application and made the buying process smooth.Just to add on about the great service. I had a nut that wasnt tightened good on the 3rd function handle and it was lost. I called Billy and he brought a nut to my house the next day and installed it at no cost. Billy went above and beyond what most reps would have done.
Being new to managing a large property, I looked at all of the different brands of tractors. When I called James River Equipment in Monroe, I spoke with Jake Sedon. He was incredibly helpful and made sure he understood my needs. When I went to the dealership, he showed me the different tractor and implement options and ensured that I fully understood things, far beyond what I experienced with any other dealership. I purchased my tractor and implements because I felt they were the best fit for my needs and because of the confidence that I have that I will have great support going forward. I have had a smaller tractor maintained by James River Equipment for over a decade and after my new purchases, I will be their customer for several more years.
We recently purchased a JD Z930M ZTrak mower from James River in Monroe. We loved the features on the mower and opted for the fully adjustable suspension seat - which gives a dream ride. It is adjustable to each riders body weight. We also opted for the airless radial tires that we will not have to worry about the maintenance of an inflatable tire. Billy Cook made the purchase simple and seamless for us. He guide us through the best machine for our needs and had all the paperwork prepared on the day we picked up. And we are loving the job this mower does on our yard. Would definitely recommend Billy and James River if you are looking for any lawn equipment.

I purchased a new JD 1023 with a front loader and box scrape on 6/2/20 at the Monroe N.C. location. I explained to the salesman what I needed and the purchase was a breeze. He wasnt pushy and did not try to oversell . He was patient, professional and very knowledgeable. I would defiantly buy from Billy at James River again. I have only put 3 hours on my tractor so far but I can tell already it is EXACTLY what I needed and its built like a Tank.

Just got my John Deere X500 back from being repaired today.They had my mower two weeks and six days!! I have to say they did a great job!! Its running like a new one!!
All employees from the parts department, service writer, assistant service manager to a technician did everything in their power to pull me out of a bind that I was in to put my John Deere GT235 back together again. I will definitely recommend them.
Chris was very friendly and helpful, he answered my questions. Showed me the best chainsaw for my needs, and didnt try to sell me the most expensive one. He also made sure I was able to start it myself which was my main goal.
Demoed a 2025r and we agreed on the terms. I told them I had to work the next 5 days straight and would be there to pick it up Saturday.They told me they had my name on it.... Got there Saturday at 9am and they sold it by the time I told them I would be there..... That was the only one they had! Poor salesmanship!

I would think unless you are buying a $200,000 John Deere piece of farming equipment there is no need to come here since my wife and I walked around for about 20 to 25 minutes trying to buy a new small John Deere tractor and couldnt even get anyone to say hello to us or acknowledge us.maybe they only cater to a large farm corporations or something I am not sure it looked like they had a huge great selection of different John Deere products and we were trying to buy a several thousand dollar small tractor for our acreage we ended up going with a different brand because they were willing to help us.
I called. Can you sharpen my blades. Yes. How long. About 20 minutes. I arrive. 35 minute drive with tolls. That will be 10 days. What. 10 days. Lady. “Are you sure you called the right place”. This your number. “ Yup.” Then I called the right place. No apologies. No let me see what I can do. Nothing. Zip. Nada. Will never go back. And I get a bill for tolls. Customer service does not exist in America. It’s dead.

I dont usually do reviews but my girlfriend showed me a comment about James River Equipment in Monroe where a customer posted a bad review, My girlfriend and I just purchased a mower and could not have had a better experience. The sales Person was (Billy Cook) took a lot of time with us helping to select the type of mower we needed. We wanted a zero turn but knew very little about them having never owned one. He explained the difference in the types available and helped with the decision. In the end we choose a Z915E commercial mower and couldnt be happier. Billy also spent time teaching us how to use it and made sure we were comfortable using it before we left. We love the mower and its a race between us on who gets to cut the grass, Great mower, Great customer Service we are happy all around Thank you very much James River Equipment!!!

In my 64 years I have bought numerous cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractor-trailers, and this was the worst buying experience ever last year. Salesman wouldnt honor advertised JD internet deals, wouldnt give a $75 rebate saying he didnt charge me for instillation of bagger instead, didnt return calls, mower was delivered with deck out of adjustment and with bagger system attached which I didnt want attached yet and delivery guy said he didnt know how to remove. Realized a month later I should have another set of blades besides the bagger blades, went to ask about them and they were in the salesmans office....saying he was going to call me. I realize Im not a commercial customer for them but if youre not interested in selling a $3,000 mower dont enter that market. I emailed their corporate office to report my experience and was told someone from dealer would be contacting me, never happened. LOL This why going public with this review. I know someone reading this may think Im one of those kind, but Im really laid back and get along with most. If you want a JD mower I suggest a different branch.
Busted hydraulic line at 5:05pm, dealer closes at 5:30pm. Called the Monroe store, they made one for me and stayed open late for me get it picked up! Great service!
