Great place to come for breakfast and lunch. Got to try Mexican mocha. Couldn’t take pic because food looked so good had to eat. We had the downtown burger, avocado toast and breakfast sandwich. Great prices.

First time I’ve been in this establishment since the new owners. I have to say I was a little disappointed in the food. I had ham and eggs and country potatoes. The country potatoes were pretty much drenched in oil and mushy, the ham was lunchmeat style ham. I will say that the staff was Was friendly and personable. I’d be willing to try it again and look forward to their improvements with breakfast. My hats off to the new owners for taking on what is probably one of the toughest businesses to be in.

Friendly and fast service. I only ordered a Mexican Mocha to go. It is excellent.I would love to come back and try some of the items off of their diverse menu. The menu reminds me of Squat and Gobble in San Francisco. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.

Had the breakfast burrito with sausage! It was great, a little spicy with the green salsa on the side but still really good. Theyre very busy on the Saturday morning we were there but service was still top notch and quick 👍. Great music, great food, great service 👌.

Service was fine. But the fact that I left me phone on the table, came back and immediately was handed my phone. Very cool. I had the ceaser salad, the dressing was delicious and the chicken was tasty,. Like a lite char flavor.

Great place, friendly staff and yummy French toast!

It was a Saturday and I needed a nice place to do some work so I went to the Starbucks on Oakdale and Merle. Got blank stared by a worker who didn’t want to be there and was surrounded by loud thumping speakers playing top 40 and families full of kids running around.Quickly noped out of there and decided to give this place in downtown a try. Deva Cafe had a nice buzz and a non distracting energy with nice decor which allowed me to get stuff done. Coffee was okay but giving it 5 stars for the experience more than anything. Modesto needs more places like this rather then having a boring Starbucks on every corner.

New owners so went to try it out. Had the chicken salad sandwich. It was different than the original, but very tasty non the less. I will come back to try out their other choices! Service was friendly, everything was clean and has the same nice atmosphere. The addition of the parklet is awesome! Hope to see more of them downtown.

Cute little place downtown and staff was great. Wait for food was longer then I would like. Waited about 30 minutes for food to come to the table. My son and I are vegan so I was excited to have found another place that has vegan options but to be honest I was kind of disappointed.. wish they had a separate menu to make it less complicated and to be completely honest my food was bland at best. Little flavor. Vegan does not mean bland food. I got the breakfast burrito made vegan. Also ordered it with avocado and they didn’t put any on there. Kept hoping when I got towards the middle there would be some but nothing. Disappointing for sure. We probably wouldn’t come back unless we were going to non vegan family members. Gave it 3 stars anyways because at least they have vegan options.

Their grilled portobello mushroom and onion, goat cheese, tomato and romaine lettuce on ciabatta bread was delicious. I had a taste of their BLT and their sausage and egg croissant sandwiches--the chef is at ONE with the bacon, because that was the best BLT Ive ever had--and the croissant was a beautiful buttery layered piece of art. Wonderful service and excellent food.

Good sized portion for a big guy like myself. The hummus was fresh, the pita bread was good and the bagel chips set it off! They told me the order would be ready in 10 minutes and when I got there it was ready. This is my third time eating here and Ive yet to be disappointed. I will be back for more and suggest you all do the same.

We go there for the Impossible Burger, Beyond Sausage Philly, and other vegan options. The prices are a little high for some items, but the food is good. We also like the atmosphere. Its definitely worth a try, especially if youre vegan. The Portabella is also good, pictured.

45 min for a chicken chipotle panini, the panini had almost no chicken and had no chipotle flavor, strongly disagree on the service and the quality of their food,

The esspresso is not espresso, its served as like an extra long shot which makes it watery and bitter like an Americano. Its bee. Made by 3 different people at this location and it is not what is advertised. The point of esspresso is for it to be creamy without adding cream and to have the viscosity of honey so its thicker than coffee. Whish this place knew how to make a proper esspresso because it has real potential.

The atmosphere is very cute and artistic, however the live music during our breakfast was uncomfortably loud. I watched people hide around walls and outsiders keep walking. Thank God we got 1 of 2 tables outside. We ordered 2 lattes... They were subpar and came in huge glass tumblers, making it very difficult to drink.. they were very HOT! The scrambles were good. Overall because of the subpar coffee and extremely loud music, I dont think I would come back.

Went a few days ago they changed the menu took off alot of good things off of it so wont be going there all the time like I use to. I decided to try something new since I was there the cashier they have working cant subtract 25 cents from 17 cents said Im to confused sorry. So definitely wont be going back and will tell friends and family about my experience.

The food is good, their service is wonderful, and I love the ambiance inside. We go for the Impossible Burger, its so good.

Went to get breakfast to go for me and & my boyfriend. The woman at the register was really nice, she took my order and I got fruit with granola & the “eggs your way” with sausage and bacon added which the plate cost was like 14 dollars or so because the bacon and sausage costs extra it was suppose to come with strawberry preserves and it didn’t come with it, The fruit with granola was 8 dollars & I asked for a bowl of fruit with granola on top & all it was, was a bunch of granola with a little bit of fruit on top. I thought there would be way more fruit . On top of that I waited over 25 minutes for something that should have only Taken like 15 min to make, plus my boyfriends food was cold . And they were not busy. I wasted 26 dollars on I don’t even know what and I’m really disappointed . I will not be back.

Came here for an early lunch with my friend. Love the environment of the place. I ordered a vanilla latte(which was delicious) and a philly cheesesteak with a cup of their famous taco soup(soup was amazing). Only thing that stops me from giving it a higher rating is the cup I was given for water. It was still visibly dirty but didnt notice until I poured myself water. Thankful i noticed it before i actually drank from it.

Had the French dip sandwich that had good flavor but not fixings (just meat and bread with dip) and my gf had the South Philly sandwich which made me envious. Both good plates with side pasta salads but the South Philly wins. Good fresh coffee choices as well

We always enjoy visiting Cafe Deva when we are in Modesto’s downtown area. It’s on a busy street with limited parking, but we don’t usually have a problem finding a place. This small restaurant offers a wide array of nutritious sandwiches, salads, and beverages, and we’ve never been disappointed. You order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. Sometimes it takes a little time for the food to be prepared, but we think it’s worth the wait.

Descent coffee, reasonable service. Nice, rustic atmosphere. Great for a relaxing afternoon, sipping coffee or having lunch.

This was a very nice place to eat. Food was yummy buy a little pricey. If you’re looking for a quiet place to catch up this is not the place as it was busy the whole time and had to speak loudly to converse. However they have a patio area to sit if you like to sit outdoors and eat.

The food is good here, but they have a tiny kitchen, so the surface is very slow. Its a great place to listen to live music on Sunday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. This establishment has long supported art and music, and is a Modesto gem.

So disappointed 😔. Extremely slow...food took forever (only two of us), and there were only a handful of customers who came after us, yet one group received their meal before us. Server was friendly but has a lot to learn. Food was good, not great. Definitely not worth the wait. We wont be returning, nor will I ever recommend this place.

We had brunch at Devas today. We heard it was great for breakfast. Few places are open on Sundays in downtown Modesto so its a treat this one is. I had crepes with bananas, strawberries and whipped cream. They were quite tasty. My husband just had a bagel and OJ. The only downside was how long it took to get my latte. Since we love to walk to restaurants well definitely try this one again.

A locals hangout and institution. Expect musicians providing live music, original local art hanging on the walls, comforting food, and friendly service at this non-chain, locally owned and personally managed restaurant.Ah, what the heck, go! Youre probably going to like it.

I love coming here (usually twice a year during the Homeschool convention that takes place downtown). Staff is all around wonderful! Love their cappuccino, Mango tea, and the food! Their salads are portioned perfectly and they’re delicious. Their breakfast is simple yet great! The ambiance is comfortable and casual. Bathroom was clean!

Itll be pretty darn good, no matter what you order. Ive been eating here for YEARS - - like fifteen years, and its been consistent throughout. Good quality food, nice service, and both casual and hip at the same the time. Every single thing on menu is good - seriously. I love the changing art on the walls too!

I enjoy the casual music events. I love the community feel of this place. Its a true neighborhood cafe. I dont mind ordering at the counter or picking up my silverware. Its a very common practice in Europe. Those who complained in other reviews seem to have a sense of entitlement.

This use to be my favorite place. This food is still excellent and the owner and the 2 lady cooks are phenomenal. But the gentlemen and young lady up front have made me not want too ever step foot in this place again unfortunately. They have no customer service skills what so ever. I feel like I am causing them a problem for them too take my order. I hadn’t been in for months and tried again recently a couple times because my mom wanted her waffle (which is delicious) and notice 2 new gentlemen and high were quite friendly. I hope the owner gets ahold of her café.

Deva never fails to impress me. Such a wonderful selection of breakfast and dinner items, the house made apricot preserves are fantastic. Love that the owner is so friendly and hands on with her restaurant.

Great relaxed ambience. Has a great coffee selection and they even have whole bean coffee for those that like to make coffee at home. I had their South Philly sandwich and thought it was delicious. Jungle blend coffee is a must if you enjoy a good pour over. Buddy and I played some chess in the middle room, unfortunately they dont have complete sets will return.

They had a lot of different types of things on the menu I chose the chicken salad on toasted marble rye it took mine a little longer than everybody else is including other people that had gotten there after me the gentleman apologized it was a really good sandwich with a side of pesto salad very good I will go back there again

They really need to improve so many things, from the quality of the food,to their service. They just sort of drop your food on the table with the same sort of attitude as you might place a book on a Shelf in your own home. Not a single smile or word during the process. Three of us had a scramble and 2 had a waffle. The waffle is very small and Soggy. It was the smallest waffle we had ever seen in a breakfast place . All of us who had potatoes just left most of them on the plate because they just didnt taste very good. I thought mine tasted old. The waffles were advertised with fruit, but not much of it. Jam doesnt come with the toast, and when you ask for it, what you get is ridiculously tiny, just enough to cover Maybe a quarter of a slice of the bread. They are very stingy in that department. When placing my order I put a tip in their tip box with Nary a word of recognition, just that bland stare the same as when they deliver the food. Overall, people dealing with your orders dont seem to care if you are there or not, and the food is not worth the price. A lot of it might be the cooks fault, who either needs to upgrade his act, or be replaced.
