I communicated with the owner of Schneider Signs by email regarding business hours and went looking for the sign shop around 10:00 AM. I had the address, 442 Kansas, but didnt see the shop on busy Kansas Avenue. I made a U-turn and went back, pulling into a strip mall in the 400 block. Still no shop. Then I saw the sign, on a fence next to a large building, with an arrow pointing south. I made another risky maneuver in traffic to get to the side of the building that the arrow indicated. There was nothing but a blank concrete block wall on that side of the building. So I parked in an adjacent parking spot, walked to the nearest business and asked where the sign shop was. They indicated the other side of the building from where the sign was. When I found the shop, back off the street, it was locked. Looking through a window in the door, I saw that the lights were on, and there was a woman sitting at a desk, so I called the phone number on the wall. No answer. I was halfway back to my car when I got a call from the owner. When I went back, I found out that the shop is a one-person operation, and that she had been out of state for a month for a family emergency, and that she was trying to catch up. She produced my order within about 20 minutes, and charged a reasonable rate. Four stars for doing good work, but I knocked off one star because she needs to place her sign where it guides people to her shop!
