I do not recommend Mountain Tops of Missoula. Be forewarned - their customer service is substandard, and if problems crop up later in their counter top installation, they are unlikely to be of any help. Buck was helpful, but Lee, who appears to be the owner, is not only unhelpful, but is generally a discouraging and grumpy individual. I did not select Mountain Tops; about 3 years ago, Mountain Tops of Missoula was subcontracted by my contractor, Clearwater Builders, to install approximately 20 feet of laminate counters in a small kitchen. It was not a complicated job, and after installing thousands of countertops, I presumed they would take every precaution to install countertops that would withstand normal kitchen use.The one and only countertop joint buckled, which Mountain Tops attributed to water and/or heat intrusion into the joint. They placed the joint fairly close to the sink, but now they are telling me they couldve placed it further away, which wouldve made sense-since theres usually water and heat associated with a sink. The joint was installed with waterproof glue, but it doesnt appear any kind of sealant was placed along the top of the joint to prevent water from seeping in. Needless to say, the joint buckled and Mountain Tops is now telling me that they are not in any way responsible to correct the situation.I sought them out to see if they would work with me to fix the buckled countertop under a good faith warranty, but they would not take any responsibility at all. Lee said, maybe, when he could get around to it sometime this winter, they could possibly replace the entire counter top at my expense with the joint farther from the sink (where it probably shouldve been in the first place). Or, they could try to research some creative surface saver solution that they wont guarantee and that will likely make a tremendous mess in the installation that they will not clean up.I will not be working with them to correct this situation, and I suggest you do the same.
We used these guys for our business, Swick Construction LLC, and they are detail oriented kept their word on a time line. Counters turned out amazing. Will definitely be using them again!
I called this company to get a quote on laminate countertops after receiving a recommendation from Lowes who isnt installing laminate any longer.A small and simple job that required only a measurement and quote. I wasnt interested in shopping around but just wanted to know the price. Lee the person I talked with was decidedly unhelpful and pretty much told me that they were very busy and couldnt help me for 4 weeks and implied that he wasnt interested in this project. Not a good customer service driven company
We paid Mountain Tops to install out counter tops and they didnt screw them all the way down to the cabinets in one corner. We did not notice until after attempting to install a tile backslash. We had to rip our the backslash, screw down and reinstall. Mountain Tops told us tough luck and refused to even come out to screw it down themselves. It ended up costing us the fee to rent the wet saw again, plus all the tile that needed to be replaced, plus a weekend. They did the bad job and it somehow cost them nothing as they refused to repair the bad job they had done. Generally the owner is just a bit of a grump who only is able to perform the most basic of work. It may not even be that he isnt capable of more he just doesnt want to try.
Retured inquiry call quickly, very professional and knowledgeable, excellent craftmenship. Lee was very nice and helpful, great costomer service.
Ive used Mountaintops several times in the past 3 years. Great customer service and product, I would highly recommend them for your next project.
