Came here to get my hair done first time around it didnt come our right, I get it students will do the work and I totally get it if it doesnt come out the way you want. I expressed it in the most understandable way possible, nice enough I was able to get it fixed and didnt know that by scheduling an appointment doesnt guarantee your scheduled appointment. I was upset and lucky enough an instructor came to apologize after me waiting almost an hour after my scheduled appointment he got me in with Emily and Im So pleased I waited and got in to get my hair fixed. I would suggest anyone booking an appointment to understand that your wait time could be very quick or have a long wait time even if you have an appointment also to take it easy on students because it will not be perfect the first time around. Its a great school, students are very friendly and now understanding how booking works I would definitely go again, they could use the practice π π π π
It took 3 hours for them to cut my hair, and it looked nothing like the picture...I asked for a U-shaped cut with long layers. Ive attached a picture of what I asked for (right) and what I got (left). I will probably go somewhere else to get it fixed. That being said, the staff was friendly and the products they use are nice.
I usually have a good experience at Aveda, but not today. Waited for a half hour only to be told when I asked when Id be seen, that they would to reschedule me because there wasnt enough time to dye and cut it. I was seen, one student did 1/4 of the dye job and another finished and cut it. I was there for 4 1/2 hours. Then checking out, they could not break my $20.00 bill, so on a $61.00 total, the first student got $5.00 and the second got $15.00. Im trying not to make me go somewhere else, even though Ive been coming to Aveda for 17 years, but thats a tough decision today.
Had my one length cut with a curtain bang by Brittany! she was super meticulous and paid very close attention to detail. i booked an appointment at 9:30AM and the cut + shampoo took nearly three hours, because the instructor Kathy had to do routine checkups. i thought it was nicely done since they were almost doing like a βconsultationβ of my hair and took the time and effort to see what parts of my hair need to be cut. the price i paid $21 was definitely worth it, and would come back again!! highly recommend seeing Brittany if you ever come- she does all types of services!
Terrible customer service in the shop on 3rd floor. A conditioner was priced at $64. Ridiculously expensive. I know. But, I was charged $82. The cashier was rude when brought to her attention. Fail. I love this place for Hair, Skin, and more.I do NOT recommend buying products the Aveda school. Go to your local salon and support them.
The wait times here are always so long.. but Ive had really great experiences with many of the students!! Even though it takes a lot longer for them to get you out the door, its still great value for the price in my opinion
π π π π π π Six stars experience! Lala found my mojo for me, Im loving it!
I have been coming to Aveda for awhile now and have always loved my results. The hair stylists were always super caring and friendly, especially the students. One of the instructors, Tanner, is awful. I have witnessed him make multiple students cry and am disgusted with how he talks/treats the students. I love that Aveda is a teaching institute, but some of the teachers need to be checked. No one deserves to have a panic attack while they are trying to learn their skills. Absolutely disgusted with Tanner and will be telling everyone I know about how awful he is. Someone in management should defiantly have a talk about that mans issues and his tendency to give dirty looks to the clients as well. His hair cut sucks too.
Real. Authentic. Raw. Integrity. Fast Paced. Loyalty. Dedication. Spirit. Diversity. Freedom. Influencers. Goal Diggers. Innovators. Risk and Rewards. Purpose and Passion.Need I say more?Sara! You made me feel like a princess! Thank you!!!!
Had a manicure and pedicure today. My student tried her best but their nail polish is not good. She tried doing it 3 times and every time it was still stringy and clumpy. They only had that one brand so I was out of luck. When I got to the register the service was $10 dollars more than what was listed on the website. At $41 dollars I could have gone to a nail salon. No email was listed online and when I called the number listed the women wasnβt able to connect me to the Minneapolis location or give me an email. I know this is a school and I donβt blame my student but for it being associated with Aveda Iβm incredibly disappointed in their nail polish product and service.Update: Still havenβt heard back even after the woman told me sheβd call me back and give me an update. The nail polish started to peel off about an hour and a half after I left.Update 2: Contacting using the Aveda information given below have no resolution only a canned response you can review below.Update 3: Its been a month and I have not heard from anyone. I called headquarters, sent emails and they keep telling me someone will call and nobody does.
The absolute worst service i have ever received in my life i am so mortified with my hair i wonβt even leave my house they left bleach in my hair for well over four hours if you know anything about hair you know you arenβt supposed to leave bleach on for even an hour my scalp burned so badly i wanted to cry and it STILL days later hurts iβm most certain i have chemical burns as it hurts to touch my scalp not only does it look hideous but my hair is completely ruined it feels like hay and iβm scared to even brush my hair it feels like itβs going to all fall out and itβs no where near what i asked for i would never recommend this place to my worst enemy that is how awful this is theyβve completely ruined and damaged my hair nothing can repair this and itβs lovely timing considering the fact i start school in five days i was so excited i thought i was gonna look pretty for school just to end up leaving balling my eyes out i am the type of person to never complain or leave bad reviews but i am so mortified and disgusted with myself at the moment because of my hair please save your hair and do not go to this place (also the two pictures shown are the one i asked for and what i got)
Amazing! Love is the word that comes to mind when I think of Aveda. From the people who work there to the students to the products... theres no place quite as great as Aveda! β€β€β€
Been there three times, first time was good. Second and third time were not the best, was not given what I wanted at all and still had to pay more than I did the first time. Would not recommend unless choosing a student beforehand whom is known to be good in hair coloring. The instructors were mostly at fault for mixing the wrong toners, this has happened twice. Definitely not going back. So unsatisfied with their work. The process also took 7 hours! For something I did not even want. What a waste of my time!
I surprised my nibling with a salon visit for their birthday. The students were very nice and did a great job, however the instructors were rude to Mom.
Thank you Steven and instructors for the wonderful hair color and haircut!
The place is famous to offer lesser expensive services while still using Avedas high quality products. I went for a pedicure service. Making an appointment wasnt too hard but theyre generally booked out for weeks.Theres customer parking in the back lot as well as another lot across the street. The inside area is very well kept and clean for a beauty school.Unfortunately since its a beauty school, we cant expect the same level of service from students as theyre still learning. My nail color from pedicure ended up smudging due to over layering of colors. The staff however was courteuos enough to offer me a refund. Not a bad place, just keep your expectations a bit low :)
I love having my hair cut and colored at Aveda! They allow me to try new colors and cuts, and will provide guidance if I get too wild in my ideas. Ive always loved having my hair needs cared for at Aveda and will be back!
A good experience for student and clients. I have had services for years.
Manager is very rude and inconsiderate they do not care that they gave me chemical burns do NOT go to this place !!!! they will fry your hair and give you chemical burns !!! and wonβt even refund
I have had my hair done at the school twice now (both times with the same stylist). Both times I received a partial foil and cut - and both times the stylist was exceptional. Because I am trying to transition to my natural grey, it is a bit more of a process to ensure it is correct. The technician seems to know exactly what to do and I couldnt be happier with the results. I also appreciated that the stylist stayed with me and talked with me during the process. Cannot say enough good things about my experience with my stylist!
Love the positive energy in the building and Avedas holistic focus on wellness..including pure and natural products. Professional services by students!
I had an excellent experience here this afternoon. Morgan is a very talented.
If youβre a college student this is THE place to get your hair cut. Itβs cheap and they do a fantastic job. No need to worry about a student messing up your hair. They have instructors on site to fix anything that isnβt absolutely perfect. The instructor barely had to touch me at all because the student did an amazing job in the first place!! I will absolutely be coming back for all my beauty needs.
I went to Aveda yesterday for a partial foil and haircut. My hair looks wonderful and Im super happy about the way it turned out. However, the experience took over 6 hours! Now, Im a very patient person-I am a teacher myself, so I understand that my hair is being done by students who are learning. But, 6 hours of MY TIME was even a bit much for me. Normally, a partial and haircut on me takes about 4 hours. I watched the student doing my hair struggle with a few things, and when she was trying to locate her instructor, on at least three occasions, the instructor was no where to be found. I felt bad for her because she wanted to do a good job and needed support. I also noticed that as time was dragging on, the instructors did not step in to speed up the process and offer support until the 6th hour! I was starving and tired. I just wanted it to be over, and unfortunately the instructors left my stylist to struggle too much and it was at the expense of MY TIME. It will be a while before I go back, if I ever do. I was very disappointed at how long it took-6+ hours is ridiculous for a partial foil and a haircut. I have other things to do and AVEDA failed to recognize the balance between a student learning and a loyal customers time.
I was very excited for my appointment at Aveda and I did not have a good experience. It was an extremely unprofessional appointment. The student did a fantastic job on my hair but while I was getting it done I overheard a teacher, I think his name was Mitch being extremely rude and demeaning to other students. It made me pretty uncomfortable and I wasnβt the one being yelled at. I feel as though that isnβt something customers should hear. Also I felt a little bad for the students. It was not the professional and positive environment I was expecting while walking into my appointment. Donβt know if iβll be back.
This school sucks and they donβt care if you have personal issues.. You could have a death in the family or car trouble and they still mark it against you..
Went to Aveda for a massage for myself and a facial for my daughter. My massage was great. My daughters facial was not so great. My student that gave my daughter her facial smelled like cigarettes and cologne. She said he didnt put much effort into facial.
The students do a perfect haircut.
I went there for a facial treatment. It was my first time having service at Aveda. It was great. I love the service. The student and teacher who did the treatment for me were so nice.
My experience with the Aveda Institute was far less than enjoyable. It started off with no one greeting me when I arrived because all the employees were just chatting with each other. I had to interrupt their conversation to get checked in. Everything was going fine in the planning stage - I loved the plan we had set in place for my hair, and I was so excited to see how my hair would turn out! It took her well over an hour to put all the color in my hair. I have quite a bit of hair, but she was going very slowly and putting soooo much dye in my hair it was heavy from being so over saturated. She did not try to converse with me at all, and she was looking at pictures on another students phone which distracted her from the already painfully slow process. As far as the results - my hair turned out about 4 shades darker than it was supposed to. I have naturally medium to dark blonde hair, and my hair is now dark brown. It looks terrible on me because my features arent meant for dark hair. I attached a swatch here - my hair was supposed to be a 7N and it is about a 3N. The student didnt apologize once or offer to fix it or have any sort of conversation to try to comfort me. I was visibly tearing up in my chair and she said absolutely nothing to me. Her teacher then told me to give it a week and call her if I still dont like it. Well I couldnt have made it much more clear how much I dont like it, and I cried the whole way home and didnt even want to show my face at work today. I understand things dont always work out as planned, but the fact that no one seemed concerned or apologetic was absolutely shameful and upsetting. I hate my hair so much, and now Im going to have to pay a fortune to have someone fix it since apparently the students and staff here dont seem to care.ββββββββββββββββUpdate: I am changing my review from one star to three stars because of how wonderful Heather is there! (I would rate 5 stars if I was just reviewing her!) She reached out to me to hear more about my experience. She was so patient and listened to my whole story, and offered me multiple options for resolving the issue. I truly appreciated talking to her, and I felt so much better about the Aveda Institute after our conversation. Thanks so much Heather!
Always a 5 star experience at Aveda. The students really care about their education and the services they provide. They do their best to give you a style you really love. If you have the temperament to sit for an hour in a salon chair, I highly recommend giving your styling needs to the students at Aveda!
I am very happy with the service I received. I called yesterday afternoon and was able to get an appointment for today. Student who did my cut and color was very nice and polite. She paid attention to details and did a great job. I showed her a picture and she gave me exactly what I asked for. Instructors also checked on me several times to make sure I am happy with the results. Prices are very reasonable and they use great products. I used to pay over 250 dollars for highlights and in several cases ended up leaving the saloon unhappy. So glad I tried this place and definitely go back again
10/10. Kate was so great!! She asked the supervisor questions and had them check her work (although she didnt even need to because she had everything under control). I felt super comfortable and honestly it was steal to get this type of a treatment for only $21...HIGHLY recommend it!
I had a terrible experience last time I went to Aveda for a haircut. I wanted to get a simple layered hairstyle and the student who was cutting my hair literally had no clue about what she was doing. My hair turned out so asymmetrical; you can visibly see that one side of my head has more hair than the other :( now I have to find another place to fix my hair.
I get my haircut frequently at Aveda. Part of what I like about Aveda is the atmosphere. Many students are enthusiastic and artistic. Everyone that I have worked with wants, above else, to make sure that you get a great haircut. In many ways, students are very patient and astute in finding out what you need. In any case, instructors are present to make sure that your haircut works for you. I definitely recommend Aveda to anyone looking for a great and affordable haircut.
My girls and I love to go to the Aveda institute. It seems like such a fancysalon. My girls 15 and 10, love to get there hair cut and fixed, then a bit of makeup too. The students have been polite and always accommodating.
So much cheaper than just plain Aveda but the quality is nearly the same! These students learn from the best and really care about the results they give. I recently dyed my hair black here and it was really great. Super nice and helpful students and teachers checking their work! Granted, it does take a bit longer but it is definitely worth it plus you get to help people learn! Something to note- you can only tip the students in cash so be sure to bring some along (Im sure youll want to).π The elemental nature spa is also a fantastic experience and students get a discount!
Respectful staff, clean, safety measures in place and amazing personal service as always. My place to go when I need to treat myself.
Enjoyed getting my haircut at Aveda several times while I was a graduate student in Minneapolis. Inexpensive cuts with lots of attention to detail, I always had a great cut. However, important to note that it will take 2-3 times as long as any other haircut because of the attention to detail and requirements for students to have instructors supervise.
First and foremost, this is a school. That said, Ive gone here on and off for over 20 years. In that time, Ive had many excellent experiences, a few okay, and just two really bad experiences (nothing worse than I might have experienced at a prestige salon; sometimes, mistakes are made.) The bigger downside is finding a wonderfully talented student wholl be graduating in months. The appointments are long; again, its a school. But the price is right. The product is nice. The students, in general, are poised and eager to please. And their instructors are attentive. I hope this continues under the new stewardship.
Went to school here and absolutely loved it! The building is historic and beautiful, especially the fourth floor. Used to be a Masonic temple so Iβve heard.
The educators are very obviously only educators because they couldnt make it in the salon. Theyre rude, short tempered, cant keep up with trends, and only treat their favorite students with respect. They misgender students, dont communicate, and make very inappropriate sexual gestures towards students. For $22,000 I expected a very good education, yet all they did was repeat the same stuff. Ive learned more in my 2 weeks of training at my new job than I did in my 14 months at this school. From a customer perspective I would definitely recommend though, because the students that go here are amazing and talented and deserve so much more.
I love Aveda beauty school. Iβve had numerous appointments there for haircuts, color, highlights and waxing. The students have always been friendly and respectful, professional, and I feel confident that Iβll get what I want. I like the instructors as well and the suggestions they have for the students. They are really good at checking the cut and giving a final touch if needed. I highly recommend services there.
I arrived to be told my appointment was cancelled. I was informed they tried to call me and that my voicemail was not set up- which is not true. They couldnβt tell me when they tried to call - and even if they couldnβt leave a message why wouldnβt they keep trying? I was so disappointed especially since it was a special occasion I had planned with my mom to celebrate recent good news.
Honestly, Iβd love to be able to give this place more stars, because I had such a good experience when I got a massage there. However, I tried three times to get an another appointment, and was told some variant of βthese appointments book up so fast, we donβt have any available,β each time. They told me to call 6 weeks from the day I wanted appointments, so I did. No appointments. They told me to call early in the morning, so I did. No appointments. They told me to call before they opened, so I did. No appointments. Itβs extremely frustrating to feel like I have to be one of the lucky ones with a golden ticket just to get an appointment, (which negates what is supposed to be a relaxing experience,) and Iβm not sure why they only book out 6 weeks? I will be trying to get an appointment with another school, because this is impossible. In summary, if you do somehow get an appointment, the service is fantastic, but good luck to you trying to get another one.
Went to school here. Great building and atmosphere. Students are friendly
Amazing experience today with Trin and her teacher. These women treated me so special. I came in frantic because some hairs were just bugging me. My regular woman was too busy to see me at a different salon where I usually go. when I sat down, I was immediately taken care of like I had been there for years. They listened to all of my concerns with absolutely no judgment, listening patiently to every word without rushing me or interrupting. Paying attention, touching my hair, and trying to figure out the best course of action without condemning, scrutinizing, or wrecking any progress I had made at me growing out my hair. They made my dad!!!
Itβs very busy, lots of students, and the atmosphere is very pretty. It took about 3 hrs for a $21 shampoo and cut, but I was prepared for that. My stylist was very kind, and did an awesome job. Canβt recommend Aveda enough!
I get my hair cut at Aveda and I have never been upset with the results! I usually bring in a reference photo that shows a good length and style that I want to achieve, so that they have a reference point. The stylists do many check-ins with me to make sure that the cut is going the way I want it to and it matches my photo, and the teachers are there as well to supervise. I even went there once to have them fix a haircut I got a Fantastic Sams, and the student did a fantastic job! Much better than the CERTIFIED STYLIST at Fantastic Sams... You also get the Aveda hand massage and head massage, which is by far the best part, so I like it a lot for a simple trim.
My daughters and I have been going here for a few years and every time I have sat on the floor while they got their hair done. It is a bonding time for us. Today the educator tells me I cant have you on the floor if you are not getting a service done I told her I have always sat with my girls, she said you cant. I went to the front lobby and asked the lady there when things changed she said it is really up to the educator if they want you on the floor. So the educator today must have control issues. The lady in the lobby said it also depends on what type of learning the students are doing. I said well half of them are standing around dancing the others are just standing around. The school had more students than clients so it is not like there was no room on the floor. Guess I am done with Aveda. I will take my girls else where for bonding time. The girls just like the atmosphere. Laid back and relaxed. Guess the educator today ruined that.
My mother and I have been coming to Aveda for 10 years and we LOVE Aveda Institute. It does take a little longer to get your service, but the students and teachers are extremely knowledgeable, courteous and conscientious. We like the suggestions they make for style adjustments and enjoy meeting all the wonderful creative students and staff that Aveda attracts.
I bought products from Aveda & got good advise on use of the products and their usage. I am now a member of Aveda.
I have long hair and rarely need a trim and EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to Aveda I get an amazing cut!!! They do a fantastic job of training their students. It is a joy to go to Aveda. Plus, I love the tea!!!
I had gotten a perm as a model and unfortunately the perm didnt last. I had to cut off a lot of damaged hair. I love the hair stylist as I had gone to her a couple times before. I wish the instructor had told the students to use a tighter curl so then there would have been results.
I have been going to the Aveda institute since I moved to Mpls in 1975! Horst actually cut and styled my hair! I usually get a cut and partial foil and I am always happy with the results. Students are professional, the instructors check often with students and I use their hair products. It may take more time to get hair done, but itβs worth the savings.
You get a lot of service for your money here. Because the work is all done by students, its important to know what you want and be able to communicate that precisely. I recommend bringing a picture. When the student introduces you to the supervising instructor, its best to ask questions to make sure that you and student REALLY understand what you want. (Apparently beveled but NO layers meant something different to my first student than it meant to me.)
Had a fantastic massage experience this evening with Katelyn. It was salon quality only for a much cheaper price. I only wish the fact that gratuity was cash only and could not be added on with a card was better displayed. Great job!
You get what you pay for. Itβs super hard to get an appointment with them because theyβre so affordable and always booked. When you do get one, if itβs on the weekends thereβs just so much chaos. I went to get my hair done here and it was just absolutely terrible. The color was nothing like I had asked for and the person didnβt seem to know which service I had requested for. They never gave me any after care instructions, and vaguely recommended a shampoo after I asked for it almost as an after thought. The color ran out in a couple weeks and when I called back, they said they were booked out for a month. However, the haircuts are excellent and I will go back again!
I have been using Aveda products for 7 years now. At first I was like wow these arenβt cheap. Then realized they are well made clean eco friendly products. Love the smells of there products as well. I struggled to find products that didnβt irritate my skin especially when shaving. There line of products did a great job and are gentle on the skin. The plant based products are great for the skin. Thanks for making great products!
My student-stylist, Cat, was amazing. I came in wanting something very specific, and she worked closely with me, listened, understood, and gave exactly the cut and color I wanted. 5 stars for Cat! Unfortunately, the instructor corrected the cut that was exactly what I wanted and with a few little snips blunted the edges Id wanted and made the look less bold. To her own taste, perhaps, but not to mine. She did not speak with me, ask me how I liked it or what I wanted, or even notice the appalled look on my face as she cut off the bits I liked. Her taste, not mine. Cat felt terrible and I felt bad for her, and she spent about an hour trying to fix it. I still love my cut!
I know it depends on who you get, but some of the best color service Ive had is with Nicole and Kristine. Unfortunately theyve already graduated or will be soon. (Fortunately for them though). They do give recommendations for others at same level of skill. Love this place!!
I had so many good experiences at Aveda.... until the last time I went. The last time I was there I wanted to get a perm. Ive wanted a perm for over 3 years now and I was over the moon to finally go and get it done. Well after having my hair brushed out and curlers put in my hair we finally got to the actual perming. Once we got back to the chair I looked in the mirror and saw that my hair was still as straight as when I walked in there. So I had to pay $45 then and I got to come back 2 weeks later. Fast forward 2 weeks later and I go through the whole process again but this time after drying my hair and putting product in it, it still barely looks permed. Its just a tangled mess. So I went home and washed my hair out ASAP because I didnt want my hair to be like that for over 6 months. After that experience I dont wanna go back.
I have enjoyed massage and facial services on a few occasions and have been very satisfied. The prices are fair and i appreciate the parking. My only criticism is that the instructors vary greatly. Some were passionate and engaged, others not so much.
Wonderful customer service.
I do not recommend going here. A simple haircut took 2 1/2 hours and the finished result was crooked and boxy. Yes it was cheap, but totally not worth it. Iβm very upset with the results and now have to go to a different salon to get it fixed.
Takes a long time to get your hair cut, but its totally acceptable because the prices are low and they are students. Ended up with an okay haircut because it was done by someone who had hardly cut guys hair, but she recommended me some other students who specialize in guys cuts so Ill be set for the next time.
We go here at least once a year depending on what we need done. I love getting my full foil highlights as well as,my daughter. My other daughter always does something different and really likes it each time. The prices cant be beat but you do. get what you pay for which means they are students, they are learning And it takes time. My highlights took about 3 hours and my daughters over 4 so be prepared to spend your whole morning or afternoon at the salon. I would love to try ax massage or facial sometime. Definite recommend and will be back.
Went to school here when it was still Horst! Hands down best training. β€ l Love going here just for the experience, still.
Rose the retail manager sucks!!! She does not reflect what I have known Aveda (nor Horst) to be. I have been using products since I was 16. Rather than marketing products she is focused on negativity such as βreturnsβ and β are you sure you want productβ.....wow disappointing! Surely she must be related to someone because she is a poor representative of the Aveda Brand!!!
Very happy with my experience! Of course it always takes longer (approx 3 hours for a new style/haircut and partial foil) as students are doing the work and getting it checked by instructors, but Ive always gotten perfect hair cuts and color! (And you cant beat the price)! At my most recent appt. I got a complete style change...brand new do and its really great! Ive gotten more compliments on it than any other cut Ive gotten from a salon!
I have been having my hair cut at the Aveda Institute for more than four years and have always been pleased with the results, with the skill and attention given, both by the students and their instructors as well as with the prices. A haircut requires more time on the part of the client, as it is an instructional setting, but I find it well worth it! Besides, its a fun, exciting atmosphere.
My normal 30 minute haircut took 3 HOURS!!! I was not expecting it to take more than an hour and would have been more patient if warned beforehand. The student was very new and cut teeny tiny chunks at a time...if the educator hadnt helped, I would still be there. The price and end result are great just know you will need a lot of time.It would also be great if there was a way to leave feedback anonymously on your way out without the student standing there. There was a survey but I had to give it to the student.
Was very much looking forward to my serenity spa package today only to be disappointed. I realize itβs a long service but it felt like student put in least effort possible, gave back massage while sitting? and cut a good chunk of time 20 minutes or so also. Didnβt check pressure, nothing. Been here a year ago and service was great at that time. Just feels like Aveda is going downhill, professionability of everyone seemed off today..too bad.
Going to Aveda Institute is like going to the spa for me. The students are all practicing their craft and are very attentive. I have overall positive experiences each time I go. It takes more time but I am doing them a favor and doing my budget a favor. If you get a chance, request Lindsey or Arabella, they are remarkable!
Got my hair done on May 30th. Wanted highlights. Literally, there was no difference. Extremely disappointed. Asked for highlights, and just wanted the roots covered a little bit. Ive gotten highlights before, and I know how theyre supposed to look. This isnt it. I told her what I wanted, she told me I would need to schedule a root correction, AFTER she spent 2 hours doing my hair. ...I come here a lot, and am usually satisfied. I tipped her, because she tried. However, this is unacceptable. I want my money back. Tried to upload pics, but couldnt.
Iβve been going to Aveda since 2009 for relaxers and I have enjoyed the service I get there. The students are well trained and attentive to the needs of their clients. Kathy and Sandra, the instructors are caring to both the students and clients. I have the peace of mind of knowing that with the guidance of experienced instructors, the students give me top notch service. I always look forward to going back to Aveda.
This review is for the last time I visited the institute. Ive been getting perms at AVEDA for the past 9 years or so (about once a year), and they have been great. The staff is professional and students are nice. It is usually an enjoyable experience and my hair always turns out fine.Sadly, my last experience was less than ideal. First off, the educator did not tell the student to neutralize my hair beforehand (since its already been permed multiple times, I knew this should happen). I reminded the student, who confirmed with the educator that they indeed had to neutralize my hair before perming it again.Second, about 50-70% of my hair burnt off at the roots. There are patches of my head where all the hair is about 5mm long, like someone took a razor blade to it (Ill attach a picture below). My hair is strong and healthy and Ive never had this problem in the past 9 years. Not sure what happened this time, but regardless, a lot of my hair is gone. I feel there should that the educators should have been more involved throughout the process. The student that the did the perm was very nice and I did enjoy the time I spent there during the perm, but at the end of the day there was so much damage. I will have to wait years (my hair is about 12-14 inches long) for my hair to be back to normal.
Oh my, I loved my first experience here, Tabatha K who was assisting me was so sweet and nice and did a wonderful job. I will definitely be coming back!
I love going to Aveda Institute to get my hair done. I have almost always been pleased with the results. Dont hesitate because they are students, the instructors are there to give them good direction, and they will take their time to get it right. That being said, it will take time! Expect a haircut to take twice as long as you are used to and hair color will take even longer. On two different occasions, I sat in the chair for over seven hours to get a kind of complicated dye job. The results were lovely though.I know that Im paying a lot less when I go there, so I like to tip the stylists generously.
Wonderful!
Love this place! I go here for massages and always have a lovely experience. The girls always do a great job it is just a plus work. Some people are complaining, and yes it might take long. But thats what you have to expect with students. Thats why you sign a waiver. If you can communicate well and dont sit on the floor (seriously?) you will have a good time. I have gone here several timesThroughout the years and never had a bad experience. My entire family has. We love it!
I went to school here back in 1988-89 and Ive been a cosmetologist ever since! I truely love everything about it!Going to Aveda & choosing this career path was seriously the best thing I ever did. Being a cosmetologist has never been a boring job...but a fun, exciting, and well paying hobby!Im coming in soon for a massage & Im almost giddy! I cant wait to walk in the door & take a deep breath...awe the wonderfully intoxicating smell of Aveda! Its instant relaxation! β€
Ive been going to Aveda Institute in Minneapolis for about 14 years. Ive had facials, haircuts and partial foils and all but one time had wonderful service and great cuts. The one time I didnt have a good cut I went back back in the next day and they were great about. The fix was just what I wanted! That was the only time in 14 years. I love Aveda products and the women working in the store are excellent!
I was totally disappointed and somewhat frustrated. I gave them a second chance. It was my second time making the same mistake- letting them do my hair. This time, I thought it was just coloring my hair. How could it possibly go wrong? They would get a close enough color. I should not need to be worried. Totally wrong. They could not even get the color right. I asked for a chestnut color and the trainee totally got it. The educator completely missed it. She said she could not guarantee it would come out as the chestnut color without bleaching my hair. She suggested to go for a darker color which looked fine to me, so I said yes. It ended up A LOT darker-almost black. It actually resembled my original hair color which was black. If I am looking for a color like my original hair, why would I need to color it. Anyway, they were nice enough to offer a redo but the policy was I had to do it within a week. They also told me that they would need to bleach my hair to make it lighter and it would take a few hours. Okay, if I do not have a job, I can probably do it, but I do have job, so I cant. I told the manager what had happened and ended up not paying for the service and left. Also, I have never in my life bleach my hair to make it lighter. A box of color does the trick. I will not return to Aveda anymore. If I could, I would put only half of a star here.
This is my go-to place for hair services because of their great prices! The service is hit and miss based on the student you get that day, but my hair never turns out bad. Just a slight difference in talent.
I have enjoyed my many experiences at Aveda. They are great at communicating, asking about the little details that I would like done with my hair. My last visit was about four months ago and I plan to go there again tomorrow for another beautiful cut!
I love going to the Aveda Institute for services & have done so for many years. Ive had haircuts, manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, perms, lash & brow tint, & one very elaborate updo. The students are personable, eager to learn, & try really hard to do a good job. The only times I dont get VERY GOOD service are when I get GREAT service. Its not perfect consistency but its very good. Services can take longer there--they are students & learning--so I always leave plenty of time. Its the best price in town for very good quality beauty services, so well worth a little extra time.
I went in for the Dual Exfoliation Peel. Loved it! My skin looked wonderful by the next morning. Much smoother and even toned. And it has lasted. Definitely putting this one on my list for getting done on a regular basis.
I do not recommend going here. A simple haircut took 1 1/2 hours and the finished result was crooked and boxy. Student was laughing and joking with her friends the whole time. Yes it was cheap, but totally not worth it. Iβm very upset with the results and now have to go to a different salon to get it fixed.
I have attended the Aveda Institute for many services in the past, and I am so happy that I came back for a massage in February! I had an 80 minute massage performed by a student and she met my expectation of feeling relaxed and refreshed after the service. I would have no hesitation to schedule another massage at the institute in the future!
Went for a massage from students and it was really wonderful -- she was lovely. I enjoy the facial services too, however Ive had mixed results with that. Stick to the massage (get the 75 minutes!).
Contacted admissions and the school 7 times within the last week to fix test scores they incorrectly entered to obtain my license. No answer, no call back, no emails back. Absolutely horrible to work with If youβre a past student. Donβt expect any urgency even when you have money on the line with this school.
I get my hair cut here and its always been great. Before the student is done, an instructor comes by and takes over offering the students some guidance and making it perfect. Ive been spending way too much before finding out about this place.
Amazing experience, I recommend to all my friends. Above and beyond pampering. Great location, parking is good when you go early in the am. Love the Shopping and sample testers.
Loved my spa service today. Iβm an instructor at The Institute of Beauty and Wellness (Milwaukee) and was excited to visit another Aveda Institute. I was beyond impressed.
I got a manicure there the other day. It was delightful. The student who did my nails has a big future ahead of her. I was observing the other students doing their works, and they look like they have some pretty good teachers. The teacher who helped the lady doing my nails was also delightful and helpful. Before going there, I was a little nervous about a student working on my nails. It turned out I was nervous over nothing. I will be back.
