Place is fun but crazy cluttered. Also insanely expensive. All the cups are like 8$ each. Flour jar with clamp lid for 22$. 8 cup with holder is 100-200$.Chemistry equipment is actually more expensive then buying new from the university… where I work as a chemist. Large plant holder is 34$, but you can buy a similar sized one from tangletown for the same but it won’t be damaged.Things are priced like new or higher. Not really a thrift shop but the most cluttered vintage shop you’ve ever been too.Had some interesting prints and other weird things for more reasonable. Definitely a place to check it out, but not really affordable.
Have been visiting Hunt and Gather for years, bring friends in to see when they visit town even. During my last visit I inquired about the price of an item and while waiting to hear back took a turn around the store again. When I went back up to the counter they were actively debating if I looked like I could afford the item, and called the way my partner and I were dressed as “dingy” while I stood just feet away. They did not apologize and acted like I didn’t hear them.Extremely disappointed and upset about this experience. Not a way to treat any customer.
This shop is so cool. It feels infinite. You could walk around it all day and never see everything in there. I highly recommend exploring it with friends, you can show each other all the cool things you find, then lose each other on accident and wander around in this real-life wonderland trying to find each other. It feels like something you would see in a dream. Also, the stuff they sell is actually pretty good! I feel like thrift/antique stores can be kind of hit or miss, but this place had a great selection of unique and fun items and clothes. If I wasnt broke I wouldve definitely spent a lot of money here lol. Be warned, it can feel kind of overwhelming if youre sensitive to that kind of feeling, but its perfect for me to be honest. Plus, the people working there are super nice. I would definitely go again!
Set out this afternoon with the youngsters looking for antique treasures and discovered on Google, the store ‘Hunt & Gather’! It turned out to be a most interesting, eclectic store indeed! The store is filled floor to ceiling, wall to wall, and floor to floor with a veritable menagerie of goods ranging from the 19th century well into the 20th century! A truly intriguing and fascinating store to say the least. We discovered a few small treasures and plan to return very soon to spend more time poking around as we ran out of time this day😁
Was walking by a half hour before they opened, and my kids really wanted to show me the maze of a storeThey let us come in and look aroundVery cool collection of stuff! From clothes to dishware to records to doll parts.... this place is great.I wished I had brought my wallet, as I would have surely found something to buy! Will be back, cash in hand
Love this store there is so much going on. Its very cluttered so its not very handicap accessible which is a bummer. Lots of fun items all over.
This place is truly a gem. Packed full of treasures/junk, it is not for the faint of heart. 2 levels with narrow walkways in some spots and can be a bit claustrophobic and overwhelming by everything but definitely worth a trip! Expect to spend at least an hour to look at everything they have to offer. Not small kid friendly, too many things for them to knock over and grab. The prices are very fair. They know what the products are worth but are not gouging like a lot of other antique stores. Honestly I was surprised by how affordable things were. One of the employees even offered to take the few treasures I was carrying while in the basement to have them held at the checkout counter.FYI there is a restroom in the basement near the stairs.
An oddity and delight. Great place for photo ops, showing guests to the city or a day to wander. This place is not wheelchair accessible and there are no elevators. Not a place for someone who doesn’t like cramped spaces. Inside you’ll find antiques, paintings, books, vintage clothes, plants, and much more! I love to go through every room.
This must be a junk collectors paradise but good luck trying to reach items in the back or find price tags. It is a very large place and fun to go through if you dont get claustrophobic.lol
Lots to look at so plan to stay for a minute but very fun and lots of unique finds
This place is so cool! Such a variety of things from all eras. Antiques and curiosities. Can find something that is the focal point of your home or neat little accent pieces. Great for gift shopping and exploring. Wide range of prices on things you want so you can always get a little something. Kind staff.
Amazing. Unique. Sooo much fun stuff. Definitely give yourself enough time to explore or hunt!!! Not meant for a quick stop...
If you like antique stores, this is a must see! This place is super cool - every room is different, and ts fun to just walk around and look at everything. My friends and I liked looking through the posters and at all the plants that they had everywhere.
This is one of my favorite places to shop. Full of the strange and unusual - just the way I like it. Quirky, funky, vintage, and industrial. Over the years it has lost some of its edge and is focused too much on clothing, which Im worried about (Minneapolis does *not* need yet another vintage clothing store...), but its still a winner overall.
H&G is an AMAZING antique store - its a LOT larger than it looks from the outside! Two levels of everything imaginable, from pattern china to old postcards, tons of letters from old signage, toys, clothes, art, kitsch... SO much more, and its all quite well organized. Friendly employees too! I cant believe I waited this long to visit!
This is a wild, visually eccentric, interesting place to explore. I love it because it caters to my add!
Great place for interesting and unique finds
A quirky, eclectic thrifting experience! One of my favorite places to take my friends in the cities when we just want to window shop and explore. Such a fun and diverse inventory ensures that every time you go you find something special. Definitely on the higher-priced end as far as thrift stores go. If youre looking for cost-conscious shopping this may not be your place. But for those looking to shell out a little extra for something one of a kind- Hunt & Gather would be your haven!
What an absolutely amazing treasure of anshop!! I was on a hunt for an oddities/curiosities type of store and wound up here today... so glad I did! As we were leaving after probably an hour of ogling over everything... I saw there was a basement, too!! What?! This is now our favorite store in the metro. 100% recommend. There literally is something for everyone.
Absolutely love it here. There is so much cool stuff to see. Plan to spend over an hour for sure!
Great fun hunting through this shop. A little on the cluttered side: consignments know what is worth what, so it’s more of an experience than a real bargain hunt.
One of the most crazy and fun antique stores ever. I can’t wait to bring my other friends to walk around this place.
This place is an EXPERIENCE - an excellent spot for collectors, prop makers, and those with eccentric decor tastes, but its also just a fun place to spend an afternoon browsing. Its a little overwhelming, and not organized by any discernable principle, but thats part of the appeal.
Unique place. Feels like being in a strangers attic.
Lots to look at great collection of stuff
Must-see! Great spot to spend and hour or two hunting for new treasures. There’s a little of everything here, so no visitor should feel left out. The vintage clothing, artwork, and decor caught my eye. Prices are reasonable and the staff are kind. For floor to ceiling unique and antique goods, highly recommend Hunt & Gather.
This place is so HOT!!! I dropped my ID amongst the beautiful chAOS that is hunt and gather and they FOUND IT!!! BEFORE I LEFT !!!!!!!!! This should NOT have happened I do not deserve them!!!!! I love you hunt and gather
Unique items, great selection
Very packed in there. Tons to look at, almost overwhelming. Great music though!
Extremely unique displays and eclectic variety of wares. Hunt and Gather is the cuttiest antique and surplus store in the Twin Cities
My friends loved your place .Alot !!!!!!
What a great local find, close to the lakes. Unusual items, floor to ceiling, frames, hats, locks, paper ephemera, old photos, posters, postcards, metal signs, dishes. Multiple floors of items. Can easily spend 2-3 hours getting lost in the sea of stuff. Always changing. Able to explore room to room at any pace you want. No one hovering, its a comfortable and easy going shopping experience. I can always find something. Reasonable $.
Always something to find, however be careful becuase will spend a lot more time than you think you will looking at all of the things
Great place! Always fun stuff! Purchased building letters! Go see the letter lady. She will hook you up!
Super weird and unique selection. It definitely is an experience walking through this vintage store
Fun fun fun!
I LOVE this place. It’s an experience every time I go. My nephew wanted a turtle shell for Christmas. Check! They had it! I needed a valentine card for my music loving husband and they had the perfect Prince card. I found a gorgeous velvet bolero jacket. Their taste in music is impeccable. This shop is like San Francisco packed into a small corner of Minneapolis. If you go, make sure you have quarters for the old machines. I was desperate to get an egg from the Fun Chicken, but I didn’t have a quarter on me.
Its a fun quirky place but for the price of some items is a bit much. I love the store but was shocked at the price for some items that I purchased. In my opinion, that needs to be looked over again.
Best place hands down for curiosities is all kinds!
So cool. Plenty of curiosities! I could spend hours here!
Great, fun place to look and antique shop. But a dangerous place... I always find something there that I need! Highly recommend it! Bravo!
Soooooo much cool stuff to look at. Everything from Hippopotamus skulls to taxidermy animals of all kinds to giant letters to antique wedding dresses to everything you can imagine. And the place is enormous. I could spend days wandering around looking at everything. It’s a fun place and prices are good. Definitely need to check it out.
Lots of space for all of the random things that are for sale here. There is more stuff than Ive been able to find time to see in my 6 hours Ive spent over my two trips.Although it is cool to know that about half the stuff I saw my first time was replaced with new stuff the second time I visited a month later.Very good inventory and lots of turn over so visit often.
Beautiful place! I have always loved modern things and clean white lines, until I came here. Now I love vintage things! They have the most beautiful vintage jewelry, and many other things. Don’t be fooled by the outside! And make sure you go into the basement, they have AMAZING stuff down there and it is so cool! There is a lot of fun old hats and dresses and a ton of stuff down there. Can’t wait for my mom to take me back!
Really cool place to kill some time. A lot of unique and quirky items and so much to see. Love the plants that you find in every corner. Definitely a must stop for anyone who loves antiques. Only negative is its over priced, but still worth going here for the experience!
Absolutely fantastic! I visited this store today and I couldn’t believe how great it was! I shop antique markets all over Europe and found this one to be fun and very reasonably priced! Highly recommend visiting!! The staff was friendly and helpful!
Wether looking for a certain piece or just looking, love to visit here.
Everytime I go there is always new and exciting items! I love seeing the quirky oddities! This is a must if youre in the Twin Cities and antiquing! 😀🥰
You may find it here, if you are into antiques and more. We were vacationing in area, and stopped when we saw the Cross roads of antiques on each corner!! Made a great time, enjoyed it very much!!
Hunt & Gather is my fav place to stop when in the Twin Cities! It is fun experience that lifts up my heart and is good for my vintage soul. Today, the owner was kind enough to brave a downpour to help me find the letters I needed for a project. She’s all that and a bag of chips! ❤️ #supportsmallbusiness
Its been two or three years since Ive been here and I didnt love it the first time around but my husband and I decided to try again. For reference, were in our early 30s. We go to a lot of antique stores but this just feels like a hipster junk yard. It seems like over half of their stuff is damaged beyond anything I would pay for (way beyond generous used standards). In fact, much of it is displayed or stored in such a way that continues to damage it and shows no regard for the age of any of the items that actually are vintage. Lots of their stock isnt vintage at all, but reproductions, things made to look old either by wear or by design or just new items that look close enough to what their clienteles idea is of current home decor, fashion or lifestyle fads. What they have is over-priced (or unmarked), difficult to view/search through and looks more like an vintage-inspired art installation than a store. Its incredibly difficult to get through the store without bumping into someone or something. The walkways are so narrow and filled with stuff jutting out at every angle that they were several times I had to steady large objects so they wouldnt fall. I walked by a pillar that was probably 12 ft high that had nails sticking out of it that snagged my sweater and almost tipped over on me. Thats not to mention the hoards of items out of reach that are apparently just for show because theres no way to look at them up close, see their prices or get them down.I can see the appeal to this store for the pure novelty of piles and piles of vintage and vintage-looking items, but its just too obnoxious, over-priced and difficult to see for me to enjoy being here.
Great vintage pieces all over the store at great prices. Most pieces show some weat and tear but overall very nice if you are looking for random treasures.
So awesome. This place has everything, absolutely everything. We spent 3hrs there and did see everything. A must see place.
This place is addicting. Cool finds around corners and in nooks & crannies. Worth the drive!
Totally cool shop. Lots of funky, eclectic stuff. Great for art projects. Fun to wander around. Seems like a place they might film a horror movie, if youre into that sort of thing.
Been there twice and both times was treated very poorly. I love all the taxidermy and good prices I saw on stuff. But the first time no one ever said hello or talked to me at all. The second time i brought some of the many antiques i own to attempt to sell some. I They made me feel like a burden and the one lady they said might be interested in buying was super rude, and when she finally met me in the parking lot 10 minutes later, she looked for about 5 seconds and walked away. I ended up getting stuck in the parking lot since it was ice and hadnt been plowed in a few snowfalls.
One of my favorite spots. Truly unique selection and you could spend hours uncovering fun artifacts from the past. Quirky inventory complemented by knowledgable staff. Fun bags to take home treasures in, unexpected!
Very... Interesting. Its kind of like a museum that you can touch and buy things. Nothing of my taste, but I could definitely see hipsters decking out their studio apartment walls with stuff from here
Fun place! Huge variety of vintage, antiques, and collectible items. If youre looking for it, they probably have. Excellent, friendly staff also!
Whats not to love? When you first walk in the door, you are warmly greeted and offered a choice of beverage and fun treats. While you enjoy your treats you walk around the labyrinth if treasures to be found. You name it, and its probably in this deceptively huge store. Wonderful experience, plan on spending at least an hour hunting!
Incredible place! So so so much to see. Wonderful unique treasures abound.
Lovely! Very friendly workers also.
I come here every so often when I need inspiration. The wacky, bizarre, quaint curiosities are bound to get the juices flowing. Careful though, you WILL walk out with something you never knew you needed!
Wonderful place of curiosity! Lots of amazing items. Sadly over priced, but great place to venture through.
Unique items. This is not bargainville, but it is organized, fun, and a worthy destination for artists, mid century and oddity collectors, vintage fashion fans, and anyone with eclectic tastes.
Top 3 best creative/junk/art shops in MN!! HANDS DOWN! The store is HUGE; great finds spilling out of and consuming the upstairs, downstairs, side lot and even sidewalk! Great plant section as well! Worth it to see if youre out of town and dont live close!
Tons of interesting things, but all wildly overpriced and spread out randomly. Spent most of my time there search for old film cameras, only to find super old dysfunctional Polaroid land cameras for ridiculous prices. If youre there to spend a ton of money on weird stuff, then this place will be heaven for ya.
Real people owners, cool atmosphere, great style.
Really cool shop, only downside is the really interesting items seem to either be broken or highly priced.
So many cool treasures at this spot. We always seem to be in awe of the different displays and the ability to see items that take you back. There is something for everyone here.
Good experience
Great fun shopping there
Wow. I bought over 300 quirky items --- things I have never seen before --- many priced at fifty cents. Charlotte patiently priced everything and then lugged my treasures to the van. She even loaded the huge boxes in my stuffed van. Amazing! Thanks Charlotte!!!!!!!!
Great place to go for inspiration. Like a museum trip through time. Brought back so many memories of past lives. They have everything from art to kitchen ware, clothing, decor, and hardware. Must go again!
What a diverse collection. Very helpful staff
If you are looking of vintage, unique things this is the place for you. The staff and owner are really friendly. They always have new things. They have vintage comic books too!
Kitschy and cool, unique finds. Loved all the old maps!
Always something to take home and now its bigger and better!
Unique, I mean unique. Great collection of some very odd stuff. Super fun. Spent 45 minutes there, could have stayed another hour.
So great! We are in often for the plants and skulls! Just walked out with one or each:)
Date of Visit: 5/18/2019 - This store never ends! There is so much to see. Very tight quarters, my advice is to not bring your purse in the store with you, otherwise youll feel like youre knocking in to everything. Very unique oddities shop - lots of creepy things too (creepy dolls, body parts, clown heads, etc.)
Its like 100 garage sales threw up all in one place! Amazing!
