We had our wedding at Best Place at Pabst (Great Hall and Speakeasy). It was absolutely phenomenal and gorgeous! Its such a beautiful venue and the staff was so incredibly helpful and accommodating. They really helped and worked with us through the shifting plans due to COVID, and really helped our event feel unique. I would absolutely recommend Pabst for events and may need to find an excuse to be able to come back! Thank you for everything!!
The Best Place was literally the best place for our wedding on 10/2/21. Everything was beautiful - the ceremony in the outdoor courtyard, reception in blue ribbon hall, and all the history the venue has. The staff was incredibly helpful and professional, especially the coordinator Sarah. A little slow to respond sometimes but ALWAYS got back to us with thoroughly answering our questions. When it started to rain, the staff did everything to make sure things were perfect. We loved how reasonable this venue was and the customizable bar packages. We were able to have our dream wedding within our budget. The only downside I can think of for this amazing venue was the later ceremony/start time. We werent contracted to start until 5pm and unable to start setup until 2pm. To alleviate the stress of set up, I designated some family to do it and gave them detailed instructions with pictures on how to do it. It ended up working really well.Thank you SO much to everyone at the Best Place for hosting our event and helping us create our whimsical, ethereal, cottage core vibe wedding.
The host and guide was excellent. He did a great job explaining the history of Pabst and we learned so many fun facts about the origin and evolution of both the company and its effect on Milwaukee. Plenty of opportunities to drink the beer as well! Only disappointment was that most of the experience is sitting with little walking thru historic buildings. Not the tour company fault as unfortunately most buildings are now owned by other people. Still a highly recommended experience and great value.
This tour just made me a PBR fan. Scott our tour guide has been one of the best your guides, with his knowledge, charisma and story telling that he engaged the whole audience. For only $12, you get an hour long tour and a beer. PBR are only $3, coffee shop and gift shop. Learned a lot about the history and how they brought this building back to life!
Amazing tour. The tour guide Mark youll love him. Very knowledgeable and very funny.. Great prices. If your in Milwaukee you have to go.
Definitely do this tour!!! Scott our tour guide was AMAZING!Hes incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. The tour is approximately an hour and with the purchase of a ticket you get a complimentary beer/ soda. He walks you through the history of the brewery, building and business of Pabst from 1880s to current times.Best thing we got to do in Milwaukee by far
A great place for coffee lover. Nice atmosphere. Very clean place to be with.
Mark was a phenomenal tour guide. My wife and I enjoyed our time this afternoon learning about the history of PBR.
Awesome tour run by very passionate people, including Scott our guide. Gift shop has some old gems for beer memorabilia and is very reasonably priced. Cheers!
Very cool building. It was a great space for the wedding reception we attended there.
Great Tour lots of historyIncredible buildingsNot your normal boring beer tour
Fun brewery tour, and it starts with a free beer!Going on this tour you get a very cool overview of history of pabst, beer, and Milwaukee. The tour is relatively short but the owners are very passionate about the history.Unfortunately because the factory itself is owned separately from the main office and beer garden venue, you dont get to see the old machines and since the factory is out of commission you obviously dont get to see beer being bottled real time.
This is a gem of a history tour on both general history of Milwaukee and the story of beer brewing there. The tour has limited walking (with a small elevator for those who cant do steps) in the remaining 2 buildings of the once vast Pabst Brewing Company. Very Germanic architecture dating back to the 1800s with a nice little courtyard to relax before or after. The $12 ticket includes your choice of a variety of beers or soda. The guide was both educational and entertaining. This tour is not a tour of a working brewery.
Fun tour. Great beer had an awesome time. Tour guide was entertaining, informative and fun. Would recommend. Price was a steal.
PBR Hard Coffee: I’ve wanted to try this for ages now as it was released approximately two years ago. It’s a hard iced coffee drink that includes a dash of milk and a sweet whipped vanilla flavor. As you can see from the pic it is evident that there is milk in it by the lighter color and opaqueness of the liquid. If you have a sweet tooth and love coffee as much as me, then this is for you! The sweet vanilla flavoring is a real homerun in my book. So why did it take me two years to finally try? Well, the one potential drawback for some is that like actual coffee there is caffeine in it (approximately 30 mg). I like drinking as a night cap and that doesn’t work well (although this might work well with breakfast….). Like most people I also drink at parties and to celebrate, but there was a minor thing for the past year and a half preventing that (at least for responsible people). End of tangent, this sweet and creamy cup of joe is Doughboy approved.*There is now a new Salted Caramel version, and Im excited that theres currently one in my fridge to review!Doughboy_Food_Reviews
If I could give this more stars, I would. We had our wedding at the Best Place on June 12, 2021. We were originally a COVID-19 wedding with the date of Sept. 12, 2020. As soon as COVID-19 turned into a pandemic, Sarah their venue/event manager contacted us immediately and offered us a back-up date just in case. They didnt charge us anything else, but rather gave us a back-up option. I have friends who lost deposits and had horror stories from other venues, but our experience with the Best Place was wonderful. When it came around to planning our new date, Sarah answered every question I had and more. She kept us updated with everything and also sent us ideas for what we should start to look at at that time. She also was so kind in letting us see the venue a few times to get an idea of where stuff would go.When it came to dinner/the reception it was wonderful to see the bartenders having a good time and smiling. I havent seen happy people working in so long, so that was so refreshing. It was like they were part of the party that just happened to be serving awesome drinks. The venue was lovely and historic, but Sarah made the entire experience painless. If youre looking into getting married there, I highly suggest it for so many reasons, but for the top reason being having access to such a lovely human at your side in planning.
Really cool history of tour, great guide. Well be back for the live music. Totally kid and dog friendly, and almost everybody was very accommodating!
Incredible incredible incredible. The guide was outstanding. Very interesting and informative. Highly recommend. Check out HetteshWorld for the video tour
Great place to relax, have a pabst, listen to good music. The tour was amazing.Excellent use of historic landmark and Milwaukee history.
I’ve done almost every brewery tour around and this was such a great tour! Unlike any others.Full of history and really gives you insight into brewing in Milwaukee. Definitely worth it.
Great place. Great beer. Great history.
Loved it. The look and feel plus the drinks are not that bad.
Not a corporate pabst/miller gift shop. It is an awesome small business gift shop with old, discontinued or antique beer branded items. From beer glasses and steins to shirts, signs and beer tap handles. Nice staff and the gift shop can take calls and ship items. If you want to find unique beer branded items, this is the place.
The tour was great. The owner Jim spoke to us during tour explaining how him and his family came to own this. Touching story and you can tell how much he cares and how his employees are taken care of. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. employee
First off, this place is pretty badass. Good vintage Rainier and Olympia (RIP) swag. But secondly, we bought an Olympia tap handle and lost it on our way back to Seattle. The gift shop sent us a replacement. Super awesome of them.
Excellent tour, despite the brewery not being operational. I was worried that the history section might be boring, but the guides know thier craft and keep it interesting. And the fact remains that Pabst was a pivotal part of Milwaukees history and worth knowing about. The Germanic Renaissance architecture thats common through downtown with the square brick shapes and crenalated roofs owes much to the Pabst Complex and that family name is still stamped all over this town.Go on the tour, buy a beer at the bar or schedule the venue for an event. Help these good folks keep an important piece of the Brew City alive.
Every visit to Best Place is a delight. Todays experience started with Goat Yoga hosted by MKE Yoga Social, followed by a creamy Breve served up by the sweetest barista, Mary.Outdoor seating in the courtyard between the cafe and chalet has been put out. Its such a great spot to grab a beverage and chill. Dog friendly as well.
Absolutely loved this place! They have fun coffee drinks (with the option to add shots of booze) and even sell some beer. We loved sitting on the patio with our drinks, listening to music, and looking at the Historic Pabst Brewery. Huge shout out to the Manager Mary who made us killer drinks and made us feel at home. We can’t wait to visit Milwaukee again and I know this will be one of our first stops when we return.
Excellent tour! More of a history tour than a brewery tour, but interesting nonetheless. Guide was excellent!
Loved the honey badger! Great coffee, service, and atmosphere!
Fun and educational tour. Do it!
Awesome historic scenery and friendly staff
This was a fantastic tour. Really cool heating about the history of PBR.
Picturesque historical setting for an old fashioned wedding reception, enjoyed by all!
Love when they work on preservation!
Very cool place, glad we could visit 😀
Fun and informative!!! Such a rich history.
Best Place was the PERFECT place to have our wedding! We had our wedding this September in the Captains Courtyard, Corner and the Blue Ribbon Hall. Our guests couldnt stop raving about how gorgeous and unique the venue was. It was the perfect size for our group of 100. The entire staff was so incredible to work with. Sarah did a phenomenal job helping us plan for the big day. The bartenders were on point - we had special ordered a specific beer through their beverage manager the week before the wedding and before my husband could order a drink, the bartender brought him his favorite beer - talk about hospitality!
A wonderful tour of the past history.!
Amazing coffee drinks, many with beer! Amazing baristas who were very knowledgeable about the drinks and fun things to do if visiting from out of town. This is one of those must visit places!
Best Place was THE best place to have our perfect wedding day! Sarah was so helpful from the beginning answering any questions in a timely manner and on the day of she helped to make everything run smoothly. Our bartenders were amazing and kept everyone with drinks in hand all night even though the bar never slowed down! The venue is truly beautiful--we got married in the courtyard and danced the night away out there too--if youre thinking about dancing outside here, DO IT, you wont regret it! SO beautiful! Our dinner was in Blue Ribbon Hall which has a cool historical vibe that didnt need much decorating at all. The entire experience was perfect and everyone kept telling us how much they loved the venue! I would highly recommend Best Place to anyone and we cannot wait for our next excuse to visit.
What tour? They stick you in a room for an hour long PowerPoint presentation.
Very cool atmosphere!
Great place to have beer called Andeker shame they dont make it. Also moving hurts very sad sad sad 😭😭😭 please stay
Loved the tour
Awesome, service, music was awesome thank you!
Great coffee shop and bar. Outdoor seating perfect for the summer and fall.
Great tour that comes with a beer
Because we had a large group, we had called few weeks earlier and Jim set up the tour for us. Everything went so smoothly. We started out getting a beer in a wonderful old beer hall. The tour docent told the history though visuals, with her great sense of humor. Then we walked through a maze of rooms, each with their own story. Beautiful place!
I love this place. Such a historic location and inspiring that it stayed open even after Pabst closed in Milwaukee in 1997. It is not the centerpiece of this new amazing neighborhood. Definitely a must see for anyone visiting the area. The building dates back to the 1800s. The inside is like walking into a time machine. Lots of great event. Ive done Superbowl parties here. Last week I went to a swing dancing night. So great.
This tour was awesome! If youre wanting to learn how beer is made, this is not that kind of tour. This is an actual history lesson on Pabst. Ive done several brewery tours, and this is by far my favorite! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the buildings are beautiful! You get a free pint of beer that you can take on the tour with you if you want and then you have the opportunity to purchase beer during the tour. If you are planning on doing the Miller Brewery tour, I would recommend doing the Pabst tour first because youre going to learn more information at the Pabst tour that will carry over to the Miller brewery.
Stopped in by chance on our way to the Bucks game. Wasnt sure what we were walking into but it was a pleasant surprise.Inside the renovated church, we found a old style tap room. Picnic style tables line the floor with a stage for weekly music and comedy acts (there is a $15 cover charge here after 8:30).They have a nice selection of tap and bottled beer and some mixed drinks. Theres also a small food menu of burgers, sandwiches, and even a Friday night fish fry.All orders, food and drink, are taken at the bar. No table service.Everyone in our party tried the perch fry. Good portions, included was fries, coleslaw, rye bread, and tartar sauce. Fries were excellent, well seasoned and hearty cut. Coleslaw was vinegar based, not creamy. Served on a tin tray.
Very interesting tour! Enjoy beer as you tour! Root beer and Sprite for the kids. Interesting and informative tour about the history of Pabst/Best beer. Original buildings, amazing stained glass, inlaid floors, and beautiful woodwork. See the evolution of a small family brewery into a world wide corporation. Not wheelchair or stroller accesible.
Theres a beer bar near my house that I call a Beer Church because of its decor and devotion, but this relic of the Pabst empire is much more fitting to that description. Such a marvel, it is awesome. The staff is super friendly and the gift shop is a trip. If you go to Milwaukee and dont have a beer here, you should rethink your life.
Amazing beer tour. As others have said, its more about the history than it is a normal brewery tour; which one could expect since its not a functioning brewery. Has a small bar in an old German-style beer hall that serves a good selection of local beers. The tour guides (that Ive had) have all been fun, and its clear that the owner is very passionate about the beer history. Some cool stuff in the gift shop, too. Definitely worth checking out.
The manager( dont know what her official title ) was so awesome!!! Loved the friendliness and she gave alot of information and incite to the history ...was a great experience
This was more of a historic tour than the run of the mill brewery tour. Staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The owner stopped in and was very humble. He even came on our tour, which was nice. Great gift shop and I liked that they had a non-alcoholic option for your free drink with ticket purchase. I would highly recommend this tour.
Do the tour! Youll see and learn things that werent even close to part of the OLD (operational) tour. Mark is personable and fun to hang with. Enjoy!
Amazing! Love this place and its history! Just stopping into the gift shop is a history lesson. The tours are short but fun and informative. They have craft brews as well as those that you would expect. The recently renovated banquet room is historically beautiful!! This is one of our favorite stops in Milwaukee.
My husband and I cannot say enough good things about this place and about Kim, their venue coordinator. My husband and I got married at Best Place on Friday and everything was perfect. Leading up to the day, Kim was so accommodating and patient with us. She was attentive and just incredible. Our guests could not stop gushing about the venue and how beautiful it was. We wanted a place that was true to Milwaukee and what better way than with a place that celebrates the birth of PBR. Check this place out, you will not regret it! And if youre looking to get married, it will not disappoint.
Such a beautiful and historic building! Love the beer and the location. A destination point I will come to time and time again. Highly recommended. One of my favorite gift shops as well! P.S. the pabst mansion is stunning and worth the tour
I always stop by when Im in Milwaukee. While you only see a small part of the once large brewery, its a little insight into how the operation began and held for decades before it came to an end. Great archutarchit, decor and history throughout. Having a pint for the tour is certainly a bonus.
Best Place is a must see Milwaukee landmark! The owner and his son have done an excellent job restoring this tribute to the Blatz brewing legacy, They have kept the architecture and interior details surprisingly close to original as well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the building, and of their rotating great selection of beers! I would recommend that any local resident, Milwaukee tourist, history buff, or beer enthusiast should definitely put Best Place on their ‘have to see’ list. They also host great parties and wedding receptions.
Loved the brewery tour!
One of the most fascinating place I have ever visited... coz of the history, the good beer and the amazing recycled castle!
This was one of the coolest places ever! A large group of friends rented out the banquet hall area for a formal dance party. There were lots of little historical displays are a sweet balcony to hangout on. There was also bar service and a nice front courtyard that was beautiful and probably would have been one of the best areas if the weather had permitted. Well be going back this winter and I cant wait!
This place is awesome!! Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. I highly recommend taking the tour. Its full of interesting and fun historical facts!
If you are expecting a multi-media, slick, corporate brewery tour, a la Miller, then prepare to be disappointed. If, however, you want to be enchanted by one of the coolest, pure Milwaukee experiences and enjoy a slice of beer history, make this a must-see. Owner Jim takes you round what was once the old Pabst head office and delights you with tales that show how passionate he is about Pabsts part in beer folklore. They keep you topped up in beer, still produced, just no longer at this site, and the hospitality is warm and genuine. Just a fun way to spend a couple hours! Dont forget to stock up on memorabilia and apparel from Pabst and other historic names at the gift shop. Schlitz bowling shirts? Yes please!
If you happen to be looking for all things Pabst Blue Ribbon then you have found the place. Those loyal Papst fans will find heaven here with plenty of clothing and souvenirs to fill their bags with. They have cloths, glassware, all beer bottle paraphernalia you can think of.this this will be your starting point if you plan on doing a tour of the Brewery, cost is pretty reasonable and expect a tour time of around 1.5 hours.
Tour was more of a history lesson but still a great time! Any How I Meet Your Mother fans out there? Well... when Scott (hope you get Scott) is talking, have beer in hand! My wife and I played the But-um drinking game. Scott says But-um a lot! We went through two beers during his lecture and made it fun. We did a cheers at every But-um and people looked at us like we were crazy. Haha! Great time.
Very cool beer hall that has a lot of history! The brewery is no longer operational so it is just the beer hall and courtyard but it is still a really cool experience. Met the owner who was very nice and answered any questions we had. Its a great place to hangout and get away from the new flashy places.
Fantastic story to how the place opened. The owner is interesting and engaging. Awesome venue to have corporate events for 20 to 30 people with a tour of some of Milwaukees historic buildings. Visit the gift shop.
Went to a wedding reception. Food was very good. Service at the bar was solid. Main room was the accounting floor for Pabst. Very handsome space with much old charm.
Best place in Milwaukee. So much history. The tour was a lot of fun and the beers on tap were delicious. Definitely the coolest brewery I’ve ever been to
One of the best tours Ive yet to experience. Tour guide was great and informative. The history of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer is very interesting. A must see if youre in Milwaukee!
Enjoyed the tour!
I had my wedding at the Pabst Best Place and couldnt not have had a better experience! The staff made the whole experience simple and stress free. Our guest raved about the venue and the service!
Awesome brewery tour which focused on the history of Milwaukee and the expansion of the local brewing industry. $8 for a great, authentic tour and a beer or two. I found this more enjoyable than the corporate feel of Miller tours.
A cool place honoring the history and preservation of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, Schlitz, and other native to Milwaukee beers. They have a tour that explains the history of the Best and Pabst families and their great roles in making history and great beer. Great place for PBR memorabilia.
