I used to love this place. Its changed a lot. The selection of deli is considerably low now. The dry bulk goods was stocked well. The produce looked a bit wilty though which was a rarity.
I go here every week and absolutely love this store. A+, highly recommend. It’s Whole Foods without the pimped out prices.
I was worried about finding a good place to get local, organic foods when I moved here - never fear!! Willy Street Co-op is great and I have found everything to be as local as possible, earth and people friendly!!
I love this place. This was my first visit to the west store and it was a very similar experience to the East store. There are so many great items and great prices too. I especially love the bulk/ zero waste spices and oils section!
I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of items here. Since I am recently diabetic, finding food is a pain and its expensive. Going into this place I felt pretty sure the food would be crazy expensive, but it was totally reasonable and they have tons of good vegan good stuff. Im not a vegan so thats saying something. They definitely do have the more expensive fruits and stuff, but the selection and prices arent outrageous like I feel whole foods tends to be.
Cheaper than Whole Foods with the same products! I really enjoy this grocery store. My only wish is that it was bigger with more options!
Every time Ive had to ask someone for help, Ive had a great experience. The store is always clean and fully stocked. It has more space than the downtown location but not as big as the north side, seemingly. the liquor section here is great for a co-op.
I love this place so much. They make sure that those of us on food stamps are able to get deliciously fresh, organic foods and snacks for a sight discount, and have lots of perks even if you DONT have any financial assistance. If it wasn’t for them, I truly don’t think I’d be able to enjoy the fresh food I’ve grown so accustom to. It makes it harder to shop elsewhere, but I have to if I want my food dollars to stretch XD
I love this store! I do wish they werent buying so much produce in plastic clamshell containers and would love to see less mainstream products. It is still my main grocery store. Madison is so fortunate to have 3 Willy Street coops!!!
Love this place, I just wish the flower section was a little better. Otherwise its a great store!
As always, Willy Street is a great place to shop. Ive found the staff to be helpful and friendly.
Love the produce and meat section. Always friendly and helpful staff.
Nice selection of bulk items, and, best of all … you can use & tare your own containers!Great staff.
Friendly staff and great products. We come here to get our bulk pantry items.
Only place in madison to get lions mane mushrooms and the staff is extremely friendly
Bar far the best produce, seafood and sushi hands down.
Very clean and well organized store. Wide range of products and service. The cheese selection is out of this world along with the display. Everyones very helpful in all departments. Thanks you for all your hard work keeping the store open and safe!
I quite enjoyed my little trip to the co-op because of the variety of natural and organic products available. The atomsphere is nice and the overall retail prices you see is what you get- they reflect the quality of the products.
Where the health conscious can feel a sense of belonging while stocking up on natural foods at great prices. This will be my go-to spot when I move to WI.
Great selection of incredibly high quality and delicious produce, fresh baked breads, and prepared foods, with an amazing variety of locally grown and prepared options.
I enjoy shopping at all 3 Willy Street stores. The staff at each are helpful, friendly and patient with lots of questions and issues with payment. I usually find everything I need at reasonable prices, except grapefruit juice. My favorite of the 3 is the North side one, because its the largest and the most varied selections. I look forward to shopping in all of them.
I love this place! Food stays fresh and people are friendly.
Very nice shop! Many options to reduce the plastic waste. I like the “no idling” sign
Good selection of fresh produce and packaged foods. I particularly like the personal care and gift sections.
Willy Street West is my favorite grocery store in the Madison area, and what convinced me to join the co-op as a member. Without a doubt it has the best produce, meat counter and customer service of any grocery store in town. It isnt a traditional grocery store, so some things you wont find here, like Coke/Pepsi, or much in the way of paper products and cleaning supplies beyond a few token green items. So be aware of that. Since the expansion Willy West also has a very nice liquor department with a great selection of local spirits and quite a few local beers and ciders.
Great place to buy high quality foods.! ^^)
I went to Willie Street Coop, because I was looking for a place I could buy bulk groceries. For some reason, the idea of buying bulk made me nervous sweat because Ive never done it before, so I went to Willie Street Coops website and read their blogs on the process. Which made me feel better, but I was still unsure because of Covid.I decided to go anyway and check it out. Currently, bring your own containers arent allowed because of Covid, but I was still able to use the paper bags provided. Everyone was nice (even the cashier who was super patient even when I forgot to write the product number on the bags), and it seems my nervous sweating was completely unnecessary. If youre a bulk buying newbie, youre looking for quality food, or you want to support local - I absolutely recommend Willie Street Coop!
Lots of really good quality local and organic food. Good place
Love the selection and the large space.
Great selection of organic food.
I visit here at least once a week. I love the products and people! Thank you 💖
I went in to Willys to pick up some unusual items, and they had almost everything I needed! I especially appreciate the wellness aisle! Even though it was Saturday late morning and a bit busy, I felt safe-ish from the virus because they had a do-it-yourself cart sanitation station and reminders over the PA system to wear your mask properly and stay at least 6 feet apart.
Amazing selection of herbs, cheese, and bread! Prices are typical for a Co-OP but they have a membership that helps you save quite a bit.
I cant say enough positive things about the people at Willy Street! They are beyond amazing to me and my family.
Can be a bit hard to socially distance when checking out, but the staff is friendly, and most products are reasonably priced. Great alternative to whole foods...
- it’s been about thirteen years since I found Willy - I can honestly say it’s the best food source I’ve encountered on planet earth -
The store is always clean+organized and staff are very friendly. The layout is intuitive. I have nothing but good things to say about presentation and customer service. There are loads of vegan and health-conscious items available, which I really appreciate. Produce has always been excellent. My issue with the Co-op has always been the bill. I am generally very frugal/low-maintenance and hate spending more than I need to on food. I have seen a few responses to reviews that raise concerns over pricing, but they seem to be missing the point. Price-matching nearby competitors doesnt help frugal or broke people if the product is over-priced to begin with. The issue is the lack of a cheaper generic/store brand for staples/basics.Sure, when I decide to treat myself once in blue moon to a monster pizza with a whole package of Daiya and beef-less crumbles, I expect to have to worry about how Im going to keep the lights on at the end of the month (no matter where I shop). However, I will never be able to justify spending $3+ for a pound of rice or beans. It adds up very quickly and is the reason I choose to walk thirty minutes to the next closest grocery store and cut my bill by *at least* half.
My favorite store for food and yard signs! One of Madisons best stores!
Lovely co-op. They have a great selection of organic fruits and vegetable, good quality meats, and super friendly and helpful staff
Pricey and cramped... I have stopped going here due to COVID as they dont really seem to be handling traffic well. In addition you always seem to have to wait in line to get in the door. On the positive side if you are looking for something organic they probably have it and the fish market is the best Ive found in Madison. Oh... and there produce is always great.
Great store, everything I need!
But I like about this store more so than anything is they are very accommodating and friendly.
Willy Street Co-op is our go-to place for groceries. Great vegan and gluten free products, a good amount of local produce as it’s a available, and it supports “buy local,” which is very important to me.
So friendly! Socially distanced, Covid safe. Well stocked. The fish is fresh!
Nice selection, customer service could be better.
I just wanted to grind a bag of coffee beans and they said no. Im even a member.
I absolutely love shopping at all of the co op locations. This one by far is the biggest location. They have great service and a huge eating area. You can come for lunch and or grocery shop all at once. Its wonderful for people on special diets. And I love the staff here. Super friendly and helpful, they are always giving back to the community. I cant say enough good things about this place.
One of my favorite grocery stores. Lots of good stuff.
Tall, in-your-face produce display. No reaching. BANDANA NO LONGER GOOD ENOUGH. The greeter offered a FREE surgical mask.
Staff was not near as helpful as the other location I frequent. Still available to get what I needed
Great service and wonderful choices
We buy A2 milk from Willy Street regularly and at timed the fresh produce too. I love the variety of vegetables and fruits here. They are always fresh and looks and tastes great. The price is slightly on the higher end but still worth the price. Would definitely recommend to my friends here.
Great service and quality of food!
Great quality service, wide variety of items to choose from, great deals.
Parking lot sucks with little to no parking. Other grocery guests were unfriendly and down right rude with no etiquette. Willies on the North side is worth the extra drive plus Willies Northside store is bigger, cleaner and carries more products
Store is clean and well organized. We were specially impressed with the selections of their kombucha and yogurt.
Always great stuff here. I like the organic produce and other good things. Nice selection of made-in-WI items like cheese, various distilled products, etc. They didnt have my favorite Moroccan Lamb Sausage however. Maybe next time.
Good varieties of beers! Allot of variety over all... For shua a place I like!
Clean, good quality and variety, decent prices.
Prices are a touch high, not really my scene.
Great little co-op, great customer service. Kind of in love with Emily 😍
It is extremely expensive. Which is why I do not come here often and when I do I only buy very little amount and always go for mainly the coop deals they got. Overall a good grocery store if youre willing to spend the heavy amount of extra cash to get the Organic and all natural products!
The local organic grassfed bottled water wasnt all that inclusive.
Overpriced Hipster trap.
Great variety! Knowledgable staff who went out of their way to help me find various items. I visit from out of state and always make a trip the co-op. This time was the first visit to this location. I even found some beautiful, hand-crafted items for Christmas presents!
My happy place when I have to go pick up snacks or dinner. Everyone so happy and friendly here. Great choice of Good for you products. Plenty of vegan & vegetarian options.
Good place to get organic food
Usually a very full busy parking lot when I go and prices seem to be higher than other coop locations. Those are my only complaints. Store is well stocked, staff very helpful and friendly, and it doesnt take me too long to find what Im looking for.
Im just wonder how this store still open 😅
Friendly Staff, store has great set up, love the fresh made sandwiches. Lots of great choices. The only reason for my 4 star and not 5 star review is because I personally like more of a variety for the hot and cold food Bar and the freshness of it. Other than this love Willy Street
Willy Street Co-op is full of fun unique items that inspire me to eat something new. The bulk section is amazing, including bulk coffee and spices. The produce section always has fresh and fun items to experiment with. Dont feel like cooking? They have an amazing hot and cold food bar, with something for everyone. Curious on how something tastes before you buy it? You can have a taste of almost anything in the store if you just ask. I definitely recommend becoming an owner if you shop here often so that you can take advantage of the owners sales.
Fun place to visit with lots of cool, out of the ordinary items! 👍👍
Unfriendly. Inattentative. Overpriced. They dont clean carts. The food was not that fresh...potatoes were already growing eyes.I was expecting more of a fresh farmers market so I was disappointed. They hadalot of food there but I prefer fewer choicesand freshness.
I couldnt resist getting a hot bowl of casserole from Willy Street Coops hot bar along with a peanut butter banana frosted vegan muffin. Talk about delicious. I scoped out the organic groceries and now I am considering going part time organic to explore the all natural goodness gracious flavors.
Love this store....staff are super helpful!
Super long line to go inside, didnt have anything I was looking for. While I was looking around, they seemed very expensive. Wont be back.
They make the best quality, gourmet, healthy & tasty sandwiches. So thankful for this natural food store in my area. Thank you Willy Street Co Op West. For making this San Diego girl feel at home in Wisconsin.
Their veggies are always so beautiful!
Awesome Co-op! I had only been to the Willy Street location several times and was over near this one so I stopped in and it is so much bigger with a larger, but slightly different selection. There were some items that I was looking for that they did not seem to carry from the other location- but the selection was still amazing! The staff were are all very friendly and helpful. I really like this Co-op. I havent had one bad experience any time Ive been. And I finally signed up for the Ownership. Its totally worth it- I should have signed up months ago. Great store and they had a ton of new items added to the store so it seems to be growing in selection. Compared to the nearby whole foods parking lot on a Sunday too- the Coop was a dream. Im looking forward to going back.
I love this coop! Lots of good stuff, and they even gave me guest member privileges based on my NY coop membership! Go there! Buy healthy stuff!
Produce is fresh. A little expensive but produce quality is worth it.
I love the options that Willy Street Co-op has for filling your own containers! They have a lot of different dry goods available as well as shampoo and conditioner. I like that I dont have to create as much packaging waste when I shop here.
What’s not to love? The people who work there are always friendly, the food is great and I love the 10% Health Products once a month as an owner.
I prefer this one to the east side, where the customers are generally pretty rude and entitled. They have great local produce, a good meat section, and a good beer selection. The deli is reliably good. The staff are friendly and helpful. They also have the best selection of local whole bean coffee Ive seen anywhere. The biggest downside is the parking lot, which is poorly laid out and cramped. Otherwise, this is a terrific local grocery option.
This is where I go for comfort food, since they have high quality locally prepared stuff. You pay a premium but its worth it. If you are doing any kind of special diet like keto vegan etc this is a good place to get products that fit your lifestyle. Their freshly made juice blends are awesome and so is the hot bar. I also enjoy their self serve grains and nuts.
There products are all organic and the staff is awesome and very woke
My go to place! Not feeling well? Go to the Co-op. Hungry? Go to the Co-op. Need a gift? GO TO THE CO-OP! Staff is generally friendly and more than helpful. Store is clean and just feels fresh.
This location is smaller than the main Willie st location, so some options are limited. Not so much a downside, the convenience is worth the difference. The selection of local produce is a bonus, as well as organic and conventional products shipped from other areas.Ive always had great experiences with their bulk products, its especially nice to take a small size of tea and test it out before committing to a significant amount! I appreciate being able to choose my servings based on need and budget.I enjoy the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, the coop takes care of its employees and it shows.
Came in today with my whole grocery list and Anmal was very, very helpful with finding each item. I can t reach as well either and he helped me find the exact items I was looking for. I will be sure to come back thank you very much.
If I could do 4 1/2 stars I would. Limited selection. Their hot deli selection is quite tired. Prices are a bit higher, but so is the quality. Staff is friendly and helpful. The place is always very clean. Great selection of meats and cheeses. I wish the rest of the store had equally as great of selections.
Lovely store with polite staff. Covid precautions are top notch.
Love the fresh food, gluten free options, pasture eggs, local farmers, and helpful friendly staff.
Its no secret that I love the Willy Street Co-Op. Ive been a member here for over 7 years now, and I always have had a positive experience. Willy Street Co-Op has friendly, helpful staff, and great products. Their food is fresh and often local. There is an excellent hot bar, smoothie/coffee counter, bakery, and even meat and fish counter. Lastly, Willy Street Co-Op also has cooking classes. The ambiance here is always friendly.
During my stay in SunPrairie WI, I had been frequent visitor to this store. They recently re-modeled the store and the store ambience is now as great as the items in the store. The organic items are worth the price. I specifically love the fresh vegetables.I recommend this store to anyone who wants to buy organic food items.
