Great Service and the prices were also affordable. I know that when I go there to fix my car its going to be fixed for good and they even told me about other things that needed to be fixed that was making it dangerous to drive my car that I did not know about and they didnt charge extra for letting me know. I called yesterday to ensure they would be open today and was told to bring my car in the morning. When arrived this morning I seen so many cars that I was afraid they wouldn’t have time for me. The men working were very polite, listened to what I had to say about my car and sent me to Emilio. Emilio said it would be a few hours. I waited outside with nowhere to go and he told me to come in where it’s warm. Their teamwork, friendliness, professionalism and kindness should be noted. I was offered water and grapes, so I bought them pizza. Thank you for all your help today, definitely recommend this company.

I was quoted over the phone a set price for two items worked on. When I showed up, the bill was $100 more than quoted. I mentioned the phone quote and the bill was reduced as quoted, no arguments, no bullying. As a woman alone, male mechanics tend to dismiss and intimidate us, especially when a problem arises. I did not experience this here. I am grateful.

This place has the best prices in Merced and they have a great service! I’ve been here for smog checks, flat tire, battery change and just general motor checks and they always do a great job, really fast. Their work ethics is wonderful. My favorite auto repair by far.

They said my car would be ready within 4 hours and would call me. Never got a call at the 4 hour mark, so I called and they said Oh that was done hours ago. This was annoying, but not an issue to me. When I took the bus over there, my car wasnt parked anywhere near the shop. It was 400 feet away on the corner of 14th and M. Again, not an issue... Until I saw the window was rolled completely down and car was unlocked.. next to a group of homeless people who were looking in my car. I get that theres no space on the street. But really?? You couldnt roll the window up and lock the door? Thank god I got there in time. But who knows when/if they wouldve called me to let me know!Edit: Saw someone else review, and their car got ransacked. So I guess it has to be a common thing

Place seems sketchy, I took my tahoe in Weds morning, picked it up Thurs evening, upon getting in my vehicle it had been ransacked somebody had taken the liberty of invading my property! Going through my glove boxes old cds that hadnt been used in yrs were out on the seat n floor, newly purchased pks of gum were opened, my mail & papers were everywhere and $5 was missing from the ashtray. Its not the money, Its the principal. Well give it a few days n see if the $750 in repairs were successful.

Emilio shop is truly remarkable as he is so kind, diligent in customer service and will always get you in. Smog in 15 min $40. Worth it.

We were in town for an event and I needed a smog but hadnt had the time to get one close to home. I called a few places and thet quoted me about the same price. When we showed up to 2 other locations they were all busy and it would be a long wait. My hubby called this place we were quoted $35 dollars and they said bring your car over and no wait at all. So we did, we were in and out in no time and the staff was so friendly. Highly recommended. Oh and I forgot to add that they were much cheaper than the other 2 places I was gonna go first. Great price and great service.

This is a great shop! Very honest people and the owner is awesome! I’ve been going there for a few years now and recommend it to everyone I know. They are very knowledgeable in any car and have great prices. What I like most about them is that they don’t recommend work to your car that is not needed like most shops who try to maximize on your car problems. These guys are the best!

The one person I talked to seemed friendly enough. He told me to park on the street in front of the shop. He said the people were leaving soon that were parked there (he knew them and was chatting with them). The people never left as they had people standing there talking to them. They watched me trying to park but never moved.Im only giving 2 stars because of the guy. No parking available, nobody answers the phone. Would not reccomend.

Was about to go to that big smog place on 16th they charge $68 for a smog...I decided to call around found that E&J Auto Repair does smog service for $40! Great service friendly and they were done fast. Thanks guys!!

Air conditioner was not working and called and was told to bring vehicle down. They were very nice and recharged system but told me there was a valve leak and it needed to be fixed and it was close to closing time. I was impressed with them because they didnt overcharge me and because I was just passing through told me to take to my mechanic when I got home.

Was traveling for work and got stranded in Merced. These guys were super fast and gave me a great price over the phone. When I picked up my truck he told me it was actually $50 cheaper than what he quoted me so he dropped the price. That’s an honest mechanic. Next time I get stranded there I’ll go to E&J

Colossal waste of time!!!! Took my car in for a diagnostic. For 2 days, I didnt receive a phone call from E&J Auto letting me know what was the result of the diagnostic. I had to call them for an update. For the next 3 days, I called (instead of them calling me) for an update and all the guy can tell me is that he has no information about the part that my car needs yet, but that he would get back to me. NOTHING! I received nothing of a phone call or information. Wasted 5 days in total just so they can do absolutely nothing. Utter complete waste of my time. I recommend you take your car to be fixed elsewhere.

Save your money and time was told to come early in the morning to do a diagnostic not told I have to leave my car there all day to do a diagnostic Ive done several diagnostics and its usually a cupple of hours told him I would stay but he told me to leave sounds fishy and that to leave it all day for a hour or two job yea not happening lost a customer maybe he dont like people to actually inspect and watch what thay do save your money and time and go to a place that actually is organized and sounds legit . Very honest auto mechanic here. The owner told me that fixing my car would cost me a lot of money and it would not be worth it as it would end up costing me a lot more money that the best thing I could do was sell it to pick and pull. I highly recommend E & J Auto repairAnother place might have had me spend a lot of money for a car that would end up being a money pit.

This place seems to get a lot of high ratings. Heres why, I took my van there because it wouldnt start it had two problems one was the distributor. Costed less than $500. I priced the new distributor at OReillys and it was $250. I think thats a fair price considering Ive taken my van to other places and it costed me $1,500. To spend less than 500 and have your car ready the next day is a good deal for me

Emilio and his mechanics all seemed incredibly nice. However the person at the front desk was watching a movie and let 4 calls ring out whilst we were in the shop. Which was supported when we had to call them 7 times before getting an answer. Making it very difficult to work around.

Hands down one of the best auto repair shops in California, the owner, Emilio, is knowledgeable and offers great customer service.

Trustworthy, great work, with a very reasonable price. Last week, they repaired/installed my radiator fan, and fixed a leak on my gas tank. Since then, Ive driven 300 miles and still everything works well. Will return for tune up and other car problems.

We dropped off our car for an overnight weekend stay, was told it needed parts thatd come on Monday. Called E & J all day for several hours at noon but nobody picked up the phone at all; they responded 20 minutes before closing time to finally tell us cars been ready the entire time.Absolutely sloppy. We couldve finalized the deal much sooner if somebody had just picked up the phone. Now we have to wait another week and a wasted work call-in, extra sacrifice needs to be made now.Piece of advice: When the phone rings - you pick it up.(Edit: Seems Im not the only one - what kind of mechanic hires a front desk to watch movies and not answer customer calls? Might be time for you to hire somebody with better business sense!)

Just got back from E&J. They did a smog check. Didnt even know they were there. That little smog check sign on 16th got my attention. They were the cheapest place I could find for a smog certificate.First time I used them for anything, but my gut feeling tells me theyre an honest garage that will treat me right. And my gut is usually right.I think Ill be taking any future car repairs to them from now on. I dont expect any special treatment or deals from a garage. Just be honest and stand by your work.

Bad customer service. Got my front breaks replaced and had to go back a few days later because they werent working again. I was told to take it the following day to check the back breaks. So I took it and I was told to go back a few hours later because they were busy. I took it again and i told the guy i was back. the guy looked at me, and ignored me. Never going back.
