I recently had a wonderful experience with Southern Trading Co. The staff, Annie, Jim and Cathy were so helpful and professional. It was so busy when I went to the sale, but even with this very well attended sale they answered my questions regarding the purchases I was seeking to make. Thank you Nancy and staff appreciate all of you.
Estate sales are always setup very organized, neat, and priced. Staff is very nice and helpful. Great deals to be found!
I’m countering my soon to be ex husbands review. The owner and employees of this business went above and beyond getting the house emptied and ready for closing. Much to my embarrassment my soon to be ex husband is very bitter because of personal reasons and decided to take out his frustrations on the proprietor and her employees. I would say that Southern Trading handled this matter very professionally and I would recommend them to handle your estate with care, diligence, and expertise.
I found Southern Trading Company to be very competent. My quadruplex was a more complicated sale and they did an excellent job. I was pleased with the outcome and the professionalism that they showed. If you want the best results have them do an inventory or work with them to do it yourself. I would definitely hire them again.
Great success! Thanks for taking such good care of our needs. Your team did a fantastic job setting up and running the sale. You guys are so knowledgeable and draw quite a crowd. Plus you were always available to communicate with us. Thanks again for a job well done!
Nancy agreed to do my estate sale, we communicated details clearly, it was simple and going smoothly then all of a sudden she told me 3 days before the sale was to start she wasnt going to do it after all because she was too busy (I live 3000 miles away), then gaslighted me saying it was my fault because I made it too complicated (Im a professional communicator / mediator and therapist). Then as I scrambled to fly there at considerable expense last minute to conduct it myself (house closing was on Monday) she wouldnt even give me a phone number of the charity organization that takes remaining belonging after a sale end. Conclusion? Nancy is a quite likely a narcissist and has no concept of what it means to be a decent human being. Stay away from this bizarre woman. She does not care about you nor about charitable organizations like she suggests.
I attended an estate sale where the company forgot an extension cord. Since I lived close I volunteered to go home and get one of mine and let them keep it for the day. The cord was never returned even after several attempts on my part to get it back. If this is how they treat someone who does them a favor I would not trust them to sell my stuff.
We had our estate sale and Nancy and her crew could not have been more professional. All our questions were answered. They were very courteous to everyone during the sale and did a great job of cleaning up when they left. We highly recommend them.
Nancy and her team did a great job and took care of everything from beginning to end. From advertising, to setting up, and everything in between. 5 stars
Nancy and her team are exceptional; pleasant, efficient and professional. In today’s world integrity and kindness are rare. The team found things of great value I had no knowledge I owned and called to tell me, when someone else may never have. They know how to price things to sell them at their value rather than just to empty the house! MORE THAN PLEASED with the service they provided, amazed at the end result. Thank you all for your help at this difficult time! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
We routinely attend estate sales in the Melbourne/Palm Bay, FL area including those run by Southern Trading Company. Lately there has been a disturbing trend. Southern Trading Company staff at the sales are routinely not wearing masks. Inside or outside the house same thing. Today I confronted your staff on the issue and heard all kinds of anti-masking theories and misinformation. Your staff are a high at-risk group for contracting COVID in that they are in close proximity to many random individuals during the period of the sale. Your personnel not wearing masks in their workplace places themselves, their co-workers, and the general public who you invite into the home at risk of contracting COVID from your employees. Masks can protect but they only work when both parties in contact with each other are wearing them. I strongly suggest you review your businesss safety policy and educate your employees to wear masks when in contact with the general public at your sales.
We contracted with Nancy at Southern estate sales to do a downsizing sale at our home. She was very professional and courteous and answered any questions we had. The process was very easy. Her team was easy to work with and a pleasure to deal with. We highly recommend this firm for your estate sale.
This company literally saved my life. Had a hoarders house with 40 years of stuff collected in it. Nancy was enthusiastic about all of it. I interviewed 2 other companies before I meant her. She sold 4 times want the other companies told me Id get and she gave me a bigger cut than anyone else offered. Her large crew came in and pulled this all together in days. Never thought it would happen. Really nice people. They didnt even treat like I was nuts. That means I lot when your in trouble.
Just recently got into estate sale shopping. Saw an item on facebook that I had to have. Went to sale hosted by Southern Trading company . Have been hooked since. I spend most weekend hitting sales, but I have to say this company is the most professional. Other estate sales put on by others are not as organized, staged or as friendly. Employees are always smiling, knowledgeable and helping you with items. I have never had a bad experience and always leave with a treasure. Would highly recommend attending any event sponsored by company. If you need thier service for selling, as an avid shopper, I can tell you they have the best staging, knowledgeable motivated employees that keep your hands free to buy more and explore, great advertising ( pre videos and images of items ) that get buyers like me excited. Top notch company with an amazing owners( usually on site).
I contracted with Estate Sales By Southern Trading Company after they were recommended to me by a friend who had used this company. I met with the owner, Nancy, at the residence (estate sale location) and she was professional and courteous. She explained how the sale would work in detail and made sure that I did not have any questions regarding the sale. The process from start to finish was a very good experience and I would recommend this company.
These ladies do the worst thing possible you can do to people, especially when there is a loss of a family member which results in an estate sale. They will price an item extremely high just so that it does not sell and they can bring the merchandise back to their store. Have they signed a contract with the owner of the merchandise and home. Once the contract is signed everything that does not sell the estate company owns it. I have been going to this particular companys estate sale since I was a little girl. Items that are clearly worth $5 are marked at $20 so on and so on. I have been in their store before and have found the same items. they are well known around town as being scam artists and have been brought to court several times due to that fact. please please use caution when you are considering higher hiring them for your estate sale.
I went to a sale a couple of weeks ago and it was totally fine. A large assortment of items. People showed up and often wanted stuff for pennies. . . .when they didnt get their way they were rude and usually stormed off (probably the people writing nasty reviews on here). I love the sales but not crazy about some of the people who show up - not the businesss fault-thats why I gave it four stars.
I experienced the same thing as many of the previous reviewers. Everything was way over priced. They wanted $40 for a used hair dryer!! Hiding items and telling people to come back tomorrow for a cheaper price. Total crooks!! I didnt see any of the workers were wearing masks. When I asked the blonde lady in charge, she told me that they were optional. So much for looking out for your fellow man, while Covid #s are rising. But I guess she can sleep at night hiding behind saying have a blessed day to us as we left. Dont go to this companys estate sales!
I went to a recent sale and there was lots of beautiful antiques. I bought a table at an exceptional price. Everyone was very helpful.
I have visited these estate sales hosted by these people for a few years now. I go to them several times a year and I see the same thing happening each time. There are items advertised on estatesales.net by them which are nowhere to be found when you show up at the house.I have been one of the first five people inside of two homes in which certain articles were Photographed and advertised, and when you go inside they are nowhere to be found. I have personally asked Nancy the owner, where are these items are and have shown her photographs on my phone that they have advertised. Her response always is “well they’re here somewhere” or I don’t know. The fact is is that most of the time these items are either pulled by the family members or sold to employees within the estate company themselves. They overprice specific items just for the mere fact so they can take the items back to their own show rooms and sell them on consignment. Or they price them so high so at the end of the sale someone from the company themselves can buy the item at a discount. Age old crookery that is still being played out today.
I only give her one star because you cant do no stars. She over charges for most everything, she gets mad at customers, she even yells at them. I feel the rest of her staff are afraid of her sometimes. She acts like she knows what shes talking about but a lot of times she doesnt. I just dont know how she keeps getting clients. The one client I have talked to they had to do two weekends of garage sales to get rid of stuff southern didnt sell. I told the clients she would not budge on a price...on a item that did not sell...the owners said they ended up selling it for 5.00. I would have bought it for 25 at the estate sale, but boss lady would not budge even 5.00 ftom her 45.00 price I think they offer to take the leftover stuff off the hands of the clients and it ends up in their overstuffed over priced store. I still go and dont deal with boss lady as much as possible., But I walk away with less or nothing because of the prices.
This woman is a thief beware! Very deceptive read the other reviews and her sickening responses.Wouldn’t buy or do any business w her if I were you.
We had an almost impossible task of selling my mother in laws items that she had hoarded for over 50 years. The garage, shed, and most of the rooms in the house were stacked with antique bottles, furniture, tools, etc., etc. Nancy and her crew came in and in a weeks time organized and staged everything. Her followers, contacts, and appraisers made a huge difference. Most everything sold in two weeks.
Nancy changed the price listed after I told her it was a good deal for a particular paint. I even had a picture I showed to the cashier of the price listed on the wall. Completely unprofessional.
My husband went 8 hours early for a sale so that he could purchase a painting. He was first in the door. He located the painting and to his surprise it had a Sold sign on it! When he asked the woman in charge how this was possible he was told rudely someone else got it first? How is that possible with him being first in the door??? Too much monkey business here. Save your time and money. Something is definitely crooked in Melbourne!
I have to say this company is by far the best estate sales company out there. I resell for a living and go to many sales weekly. There respectfull, polite and are always willing to work with you on prices or items of interest. If it werent for people and companies like this i would not be in buisness long at all! I dont if there read there reviews or not but if so keep doing what your doing. I choose your sales over other ones everytime! Thanks and GOD Bless!!
Went to an estate sale they held today and another customer was purchasing hand towels that the paper clearly stated for a dollar well she told the customer that that was a mistake and they were two dollars, she was so rude and made customer feel bad, yelling in front of all the other customers even going to the point of going to the paper that she had taped up in the closet and ripping it down saying that “she’s losing money by all these girls find these towels and reselling them“ I have been to several of her sales the owner Nancy has always been rude and outrageous prices. Do yourself a favor and avoid her companies sales! She is also known for being a thief so please do your homework before hiring.
I have done business with SOUTHERN TRADING (Nancy Lewis) for roughly 4 or 5 years now and have not only been treated well but have walked away with some GREAT bargains. I would recommend her estate sales to any buyer or prospective client...
I went inside and there was this lovely old lady who greeted us in. There is a ton of furniture in there so I would be very careful. There is mostly furniture in here and also jewelry. They have a lot of fine jewelry and I got this amazing tiny space ship gold necklace for ten dollars and I love it.
Nancy and her entire staff are very knowledgeable at what they do. With a variety of backgrounds and many, many years of experience, there is a reason that the team is booked up steady and always willing to help those in need. Most honest crew out there hard working without fail.
I search for Southern Trading Estate Sales first every weekend. It seems Nancy has a corner on the market and obviously there is a reason for that! She and her staff are exceptionally professional and courteous. They know how to price and have the merchandise Organized and well set up. Going to a Southern Trading is not just about getting beautiful things at bargain prices, its an outing/experience that is fun and very rewarding!
I love going to Nancys Estate Sales, so much that I have used Nancy to handle a couple of estates that I have inherited of my own. She priced everything so the items would move fast and efficiently as we were under a tight schedule. Not only did she do all the wonderful pricing, she even found homes for furniture and other items my family didnt want. She donated the various items to womens shelter, Habitat for Humanity and other charities that are in need. Thank you so much, Nancy! I will definitely keep coming to your sales as you and your staff are a pleasure to deal with. Also, my home sold that same weekend as her staff left my place impeccable!
UNSCRUPULOUS COMPANY...SELLER BEWARE!!!Hoping to sell much of his household belongings, my 85 year old Father regrettably hired Southern Trading Company for a partial estate sale held 1/24-1/26 2020. Throughout the process, owner Nancy Lewis consistently reminded my Dad and me of her decades of experience, her self made success, and how busy she is at all times. After the sale was completed, I returned to see that my Dad’s house was left a huge mess. Several sale tables were left standing, covered with unsellable items. The floors throughout the house were covered with unsellable items and trash. The garage (biggest mess!) was left unsafe and hazardous for my Dad to enter, with trash and unsellable items completely covering the floor. Large amounts of trash and cardboard were left outside the home as well. I spent countless hours/days cleaning and putting my dads house back together, which had been professionally cleaned just before the sale.During my cleaning, I found a Southern Trading sale tag for my Dad’s high value Mid Century Modern Dining Table and 6 Chairs. The sale tag shows the list price of $890.00 being sold on the first sale day. Upon receiving the Southern Trading Company settlement papers and check many weeks later, my Dad and I were shocked to see that the Dining Table and 6 Chairs had been listed on the high value sheet as selling for $90.00!???? That is an $800.00 discrepancy on one item, which I can prove!!! I took a picture of that sale tag that shows it sold for $890.00 on the first day...I asked Nancy about the $800.00 discrepancy ... she literally texted me a made up story of broken chairs and it sold on the 3 rd day of sale. I sent her my picture of proof and she then changed the subject, which has been a pattern with her.In addition, many of the highest value items (Items selling over $50.00) were not on the settlement sheet at all. According to the contract with STC, a list of all high value items will be provided to the seller upon completion of the sale. When I asked Nancy’s assistant why a refinished antique dressing table was not on the high value list she said that the cashier may not have known it was an antique....Really??? It’s their job to know the difference between an an antique or not. In addition, many items were not value researched, and were basically given away during the sale....Insulting!!!!That Refinished Antique Dressing Table and many other high value items were not on the settlement list, and are still unaccounted for today. One of the highest value items for sale was sold, unsold, and sold to Nancy herself at a very reduced price.... she then said she didn’t want it?? Many items that were clearly marked not for sale during the sale haven’t been located? Too many unanswered questions here...The financial result of my Dads sale was insulting, considering the quality and volume of items he had for sale. After the sale, many attempts were made to contact Nancy about discrepancies and answers to our questions. She finally phoned my Dad (she was put on speaker phone). Instead of answering our questions, she responded with questions and informed us that she was just too busy and had to go. During another phone conversation with Nancy, she hung up on me. She also told me many times she would phone back, and didn’t. Very rude and untrustworthy behavior by any Company that is hired to provide a professional service to the public!!!!Nancy Lewis and her Southern Trading Company took advantage of my Dad, and were overall disrespectful to his home and it’s contents.Neither my Dad, nor I would ever recommend Southern Trading Company to anyone!!!!An Unscrupulous Company....SELLER BEWARE.
The owner of this business, Nancy, is a THIEF!! Just read all these negative reviews and stare clear of her. I didn’t even do business with her. I witnessed her in action and should report her. Best recommendation...Do not I repeat Do not do business with her. I would even go as far as to say she’s a great scam artist.
I’ve had several bad experiences with this company and will never buy from them again. At one estate sale they were having I asked how much a ring was that I liked. The woman said, “you can’t afford that.” She never even told me a price. She just took the ring from me and walked away. At another sale there were two “antique” metal motorcycle figurines. I paid $90.00 for them. As I walked out the door I turned one upside down to look at the bottom and it had a “Hobby Lobby” sticker on it. I went back in and told her nicely that this was not an antique, she only refunded $30 so I still paid $60 for both. She refused to take them back or give me a larger refund. They were both dusty and old looking. I specifically avoid any sales by Southern Trading Company now.
Crooked as they come. Unmarked items, prices get higher with each worker you ask. They refuse legitimate offers then have the nerve to sell your items at 50% off on the last day of the sale. I wouldnt trust this company with my familys estate, and you shouldnt either.
Worst estate sale company in south Florida or the Treasure Coast! False advertising! Grossly overpriced. Completely disorganized. Most items (99% of them) were not even priced. Drove over an hour for the sale, waited over an hour to get in first, was there for the large amount of advertised jewelry, had very little, nothing was priced, when asked for a price a cheap (not even) gold filled chain was quoted for $65.00! (It was worth about $1-3 on a good day if you needed one for a pendant!)Sign finally made which had a price list but nothing I picked up was even close.. if you picked it up it was automatically going to be more... $35 for a cheap costume bracelet unsigned. $65 for a cheap silver plate or pot metal bracelet which she falsely told everyone was Sterling, which it was not. $65 for a tiny 14k ring worth about $20 in scrap on a good day..Was told they had another huge carton of jewelry but they would not put it out because it was not priced (but neither was any of the stuff they had out!!) so nobody was even able to look at it. Wasted a lot of gas time and energy going to an overhyped overrated falsely advertised sale.Client should be suing this company for poor service! Vintage mink short stoles $650?!This lady is delusional! Nothing was priced reasonably! Will NEVER go to one of their sales again! My company will swoop in and grab this sale because EVERYTHING will still be there with those prices! Sad to see the poor quality of Estate Sale Services offered in this area!ChristineOwnerTreasure Trove Estate SalesWe do it right!
I had a wonderful experience with Estate Sales By Southern Trading Company. I bought a very nice mirror, the ladies lowered the price a bit for me and then took another 30% off. High quality items at good prices coupled with great customer service made my me a very satisfied customer.
I wanted to come by and just say that I love the sales here. I have been coming by her sales for years and have seen the wonderful work she does for all of the families she is called on by. I noticed a recent review by a competitor and have to say its one of the most tasteless things I have ever seen. The person slandered this business to promote their own. Dont let that fool you. If you are looking to hire this company for your own estate sale for any reason this is the company you want to get. She will always stand by you and do what is best FOR YOU. So many people want something for nothing but Nancy will get a fair price and is a great negotiator. There is a reason Nancy is called on to do 3-4 sales per week. She is trusted and has been doing this for many years now. You would be proud of the work she does.
I was a potential customer of one of their estate sales and had questions regarding several items. Instead of helping me, the lady was very rude and too busy with her personal life to help secure me as a customer. Besides this, she came off as very lazy and not willing to do any work. If you are thinking about hiring this company to host your estate sale, I would avoid them.
WOW! Ive been doing business with these folks for over 10 years. Whether I am looking for a single piece to accent a room, interesting antiques or eclectic items, staging a property for sale or filling a room, they ALWAYS have something that works! Great staff, reasonable pricing and tremendous service, STC has it or can get it!
Southern Trading Company conducted my estate sale and also my mothers. They sold everything at a fair price and left it clean. We couldnt have been happier. If your looking for an estate sale company, I highly recommend Southern Trading Company.
This is one of the worst estate sales in Florida. Their staff is extremely rude and racist. The moment I walk in follow you around. Their stuff is overpriced and they refuse to deal even after showing them the true value. You’re better off buying new things and getting a warranty you’d be saving over what they charge. Look things up before you buy, a lot at southern is priced over what it would be new.
My neighbor had an Estate sale and most everyone that parked for it parked in my lawn, then she lied and said our neighbor always have had problems with us and that was not true for we did t even know him. I have pictures to prove it. They were rude and wouldn’t do anything about it when my husband talked to the Estate owners. Never use them.
Hands down the rudest and most unprofessional estate sale company here in Brevard County. They advertise a sale online and when you arrive everything that was advertised has already been sold. Talk about false advertising. Nancy the boss is one of the rudest people Ive had to deal with, rude to customers and to her employees. Buyers beware.
Nancy Lewis is a please to deal with and made the whole experience of selling my parents belongings at an estate sale.
Lady pretends to know antiques but clearly doesnt. We do not even go to these sales anymore. So overpriced and she has no idea how to price antiques fairly so families that hire them are left with a lot at the end.
May husband & I attended your sale on Sat., 05-5th. It was one of the best sales that we have ever attended. It was well organized & very well priced. Looking forward to another sale being held by your company.
I just called and the woman was so rude...i have beautiful furniture and explained to her im having a yard sale, but need this stuff gone...her reply was she doesnt follow behind yardsales, she asked how old my bdrm set was, i told her 10yrs old, very well kept ans she automatically assumed my matress was 10 yrs old and hung up on me! Thats gross and RUDE!
The cashier argues with the customers who are trying to pay. The woman collecting the money was rude to several people in line. When she wasn’t making up prices she was arguing with customers over prices they were told by other employees. Very nasty person to deal with. Avoid their sales at all cost.
One of the best Estate Sale companies in central Florida! Loved that they had a wonderful mix of antiques and modern stuff.
The best estate sale in the area very professional, Nancy and all of her staff are very helpful and courteous. This company goes above and beyond for all of their customers.
Seemed like she was honorable until she insisted that Eau Gallie was an independent city, still. Like she lived here so long it out shined our families over 40 years so we didnt qualify, (In fact she didnt bother to ask, just assumed). She does this walking out the door so that if there is no discussion therefore it must be so. Ever met someone like that? It Only takes one mistruth to spoil a reputation, and this so called fact was within minutes of meeting, and the insulting inuendo that I didnt have a clue is exactly that; insulting. It is not a town, not a city; I asked her to clarify if she meant something else. The fact is Eua Gallie as a city ended in 1969, and she continues as if Eau Gallie is still a City.An incorporated town in the United States is a municipality, that is, one with a charter received from the state, similar to a city. An incorporated town will have elected officials, as differentiated from an unincorporated community, which exists only by tradition and does not have elected officials at the town level. She was relying solely on tradition.Eau Gallie (IPA: /oʊ ˈgæːli/)[1] is a section of the city of Melbourne, Florida, located on the citys northern side. It was formerly an independent city in Brevard County from 1860 until 1969, when the citizens of Eau Gallie and Melbourne voted to merge. A subsequent vote among the citizens resulted in the new citys being named Melbourne. The name and identity of Eau Gallie persists in a number of local entities. -- again, not a city today.I am insulted by by this lady in a couple of ways, not to mention how she walks through the house and pronounces that this is great, and that is great, until she says at the end it is all basically worthless; donate it.Sorry Charlie, you arrive as a professional you can leave as one. Get your facts right. I might not get what I want for what you saw, but I dont have to donate it. Luckily I am working for the executer.Nancy, you might have had a long day, but you might want to work a little on your solft skills. Obviously there has been tragedy. You are obviously wrong on at least two points within minutes, (donate it all, and Eau Gallie is a city today). Get your history right. You have lived here long enough for that. Thanks but no thanks for your expertise, and calouse attitude.
Waste of time. Prices are better at Walmart! $65 for a rusty bicycle, Walmarts price for a brand new similar bike $74.99. Prices on other items are laughable. I will NEVER waste my time going to another Estate Sales by Southern Trading Company again!!!!!
Unprofessional company. Lady in the garage told me all furniture was 50% off in the home then a different lady in the house told me it was 30% off. Overpriced merchandise. In another sale a representative from the company said “crazy” when I asked for a price reduction on something they priced at $18 when the original price of $23 was still on the item. No longer will attend their sales.
Over priced in my opinion. Saw items that had been used for the same price as new.
Awesome place.....Friendly helpful people..
Thieves....
If you want to pay retail prices or above for used/junk this estate/re sale place is for you!
Way overpriced!
