Such a comfortable place to visit, relax, and read a book in Manhattan. The setup is beautiful, the coffee is phenomenal, and the folks that work here are SO kind and helpful. Love this place so much. Person with the sick arm tats and mohawk makes a DANG GOOD coffee! Love this place
What’s better than a bookstore that’s well-lit, sells new and used books, has good seating and a cafe in it, honestly. I was pretty sold on the concept, but then became even more of a fan when the barista blessed my taste buds. The coffee was so good!Highly recommend visiting while here - grab a book, a coffee, and seat.
My biggest complaint with the rework of a beloved Manhattan business is that it seems like its now less about being a bookstore and more about being a hangout spot. It makes sense, the local book store scene isnt exactly doing great across the nation, but its sad to be so crowded with much less in terms of the dusty used books I used to love to find here. Ill always love this store which I grew up frequenting, but change is hard.
So cute! They have books, quirky gifts for all ages, a lounge area, coffee, and snacks. It is such a welcoming/cozy vibe. I love it!
Fantastic selection of new and used titles, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth the visit!
Before the fire I went to this bookshop many times for the atmosphere, friendly service and of course amazing prices on variety of books. After there fire and finishing there renovations it took awhile but they are back to there normal self. With now two floors I had forgotten how good there prices where. They even said they are adding a food place up front. Which means no dog friendly after food which totally understandable. Can’t wait to visit again next time I’m in town.
An old classic--the books and the store itself. Now serving coffee in its classic setting. I brought a box of books in and got the options of: $85 store credit, $40 cash or 60 books. I took the cash and donated the remaining books they didnt buy. A nice place to donate, sell and buy books as well as sit and read. Great atmosphere as well.
Best place to find wonderful past and new books. Its welcoming. Friendly. My place to go for my Dragonlance collection that Im still working on. Hope to find more there in the future.
This is a nice cozy place with used books in reasonable condition. I thought these books were reasonably priced. They now have an option for contactless payment, Im going to revisit the Dusty Bookshelf whenever I want some used books.
Great local bookstore with new and used books. Also has places to sit and read as well as some food and drink options.
Nice and quiet bookstore to start reading new or old books enjoyed the overall experience this bookstore bring she food isent bad either 👍
This is the best bookstore I have ever been in.
An excellent mix of new and used books. Well organized variety of books. Has a coffee shop go boot and plenty of places to sit and relax. A great throwback to how bookstores used to be.
Neat bookstore. Tasty coffee.
Book lovers paradise! Lots of books to choose from. Very friendly staff. Ill be back!
Would have 5 if the book i wanted had been for sale. It was in the prepurchase area (unmarked)
I have been here many times through the years and I still love coming here to search through all the books and find that new read.
Havent been in since the reopened from the fire. Still a top notch spot!
An eclectic collection of new and second hand books... you never know what you might find!
Great place! Staff is helpful and you can grab a latte and read a book! The best of both worlds! They have seating areas and comfortable places to get lost in a book.
The Dusty Bookshelf has a great selection of new and used books. If they don’t have it they can order it for you. Good people helping you find good books while supporting local.
I miss the Bookshelf before the fire but the current version is nice - orderly, clean, fun, helpful & friendly staff. The pre-fire Bookshelf was a more eclectic place with ample character.
I enjoyed myself, It was a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly! I found a book I’d never thought I’d find a book that I wanted but would find in any bookstore. I guess that’s the magic of your locality!
Coffee is always great, but much like the books, overpriced. On one of my visits to the store, I overheard one of the owners (not a manager) disrespecting a staff member. If I worked there I would feel so demoralized, and unmotivated being talked to in such a dehumanizing way. Pretty sad, especially for how little they pay their staff. Ive asked a few baristas about pay when I was interested in applying, and it always fell slightly above minimum wage. The decor in there feels/looks so cheap. Unpainted particle board counter tops and some bookshelves. Thrifted uncomfortable furniture. Its like they are going for some progressive vibe but missed the target by a mile. After seeing how the staff was disrespected, I wont be returning. If you are looking to work at Dusty or Public Hall, I would highly recommend ANYWHERE else.Hope things change.
Polite service, clean and quite environment.
Everyone Loves this place! Well organized, great location, plenty of books to choose from, categories separated accordingly, nice people.
Nice and quiet. Its like Barnes and nobles, but with class and a hometown feel. The bristas were friendly and knowledgeable!
Great place to buy books, relax and grab a snack. They also buy books. Great new remodel.
Was very disappointed. I arrived with my service dog and was told at the door he would not be allowed in due to their store cat. When I told her he would have no issue with the cat as he is highly trained she repeated that no other animals were allowed in the store as the cat is aggressive. So glad we drove an hour out of our way to visit and be turned away. Maybe post on your website to fellow travelers don’t waste their time.
Great to be back in there grandson found four books he wanted 😀 got four books for my granddaughter 😊
Best bookstore ever!
I always love coming here and finding a great deal on cookbooks or animal books for my son. Warm and welcoming environment
Surprising spectrum of sci-fi. Obviously well curated collection of titles over all. Good environment.
Always been a great place to shop for some new/used books and for hanging out. They have two floors and lots of spots for reading and studying.
Wish I had found this earlier in my stay in Manhattan! I will definitely be back!
Nice atmosphere. Books both new and used.
Such a cute bookstore with plenty of seating and books. The coffee is yummy and the views are great.
This place has gotten so much better after the fire but it still has room for improvement in terms of book stock. The cafe is adorable and so are tables and atmosphere. High points for the tables with NY times bestseller - very good. One might imagine one is in a larger town when stepping in here. It has music but not too loud. I also like the upstairs rummage section although I am not sure why they have not organized it into sections. It is sad that their cheesy romance section (pls throw it out!) is larger than the arts section or social science and literature. This is a college town afterall with a high percentage of professors and grad students (we have PhDs! and write books) - 1000s and it might be apt to have an seciton with academic journals or more books that cater to that audience (who right now borrow or buy online). Why not add a section with books the professors at K-state have published? Look it up in our profiles. Do some book reading events -w e are all here in town. The section in social science and literature and still small. The art section is a joke, but HAS become better, although it seems to be limited to painting and sculpture. Get some books by Phaidon, some published in the last 10 years on public art, landart, conceptual art, something post 1970 at least? There is no art theory, no photography section (not how to but monographs, look for Aperture - the publisher- for ex.) and what is there is very traditional populist and limited. Maybe the manager should visit the architecture library at K-state or even the photo section at Hale library or the public library to get some ideas and or attend conferences and book fairs in the field to educate. themselves on what to buy to make this place live up to being in a college town. Otherwise those of us who are scholars might stay away or bring our own books bought online to enjoy the great athmosphere.
Awful service, rude customers, and no one knows what the hell theyre doing there. Highly disappointed and will not be coming back. Everything was either overpriced or molding.
Good atmosphere. good selection. good people. good coffee.
Friendly atmosphere the staff is really nice great place to find books and just a wonderful atmosphere.
This is one of my favorite places to go. Between classes my sister and I would meet up here and just hang out and browse books. After the fire we were devastated, but they came back quickly and better than ever. Since covid their doors have been closed, but through pick up I got a mystery bag. Cheap for 5 random books. As fate has it I got a book that is based off of one of my favorite movies that I have been meaning to read. I couldn’t be happier. This is one of my favorite places in the world. I can’t express how much I love them and their dedicated staff.
Great to see it reopen! Love all the changes/ additions made and being made, restrooms for starters! I like the mix of new books, selective but cool mix. And I hey, coffee can never be too close at hand....now if I can find that book I was looking for and get my grand daughter off the couch upstairs so I can relax maybe....
Hannah is a delight! Visit Dusty Bookshelf & get what you need to read (and good coffee).
The dusty has a great atmosphere.
Its back! And better then ever! The dusty bookshelf, a town gem burnt down a few years ago has been restored to its past glory and more. Theres coffee, which is great, plenty of seating and the best part, lots of books!
I miss the cat. Its a different feel for sure. Definitely a little more streamlined and I like the option to buy new books. I do miss the feel of how it used to be but its a solid restart for a business that had to start over after the fire a couple years ago. But mostly I just miss the cat.
Love love this book store the employees were very helpful
Such a wonderful store. They are always super friendly & helpful!! Definitely love supporting this small business!! 💙
Superb. I kind of liked when there was carpet, but I suppose fires tend to damage that sort of thing. (There was carpet, wasnt there? I could be imagining things again…)
Cant wait to come back next time we are in town!
Clean, quiet. Well organized
The Dusty Bookshelf is absolutely the best used bookstore ever. They are finally re-opened after a devastating fire, so are rebuilding their extensive selection, but everything is nicely arranged with book types clearly marked so its easy to find what you are looking for.Hard and softcover books and lots of other print items are available and a nice childrens selectionTheir staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and very helpful, they know books!! Its a roomy place with areas to sit and peruse possible selections. Prices are very reasonable. If they dont have something you want, they will try to find it for you, which is wonderful. Its a book lovers paradise and will get even better as they rebuild their stock.
Wonderful independent bookstore located on the edge of Aggieville. Just one block from campus.Great to see youve re-opened!
The coffee is great and the book selection is excellent
Love coming here!!!! It puts a smile on my face everytime.
First time in since the reopening! It looks better than ever!
Excellent as usual. So happy to have them back! Love that store and the girls who work there are so friendly and dont breathe down your neck when youre looking.
Wouldn’t recommend selling any books here. Brought 7 good paperback books and they wanted 4 of them. They only wanted to give me 3.20 for books I spent over 10 dollars plus on each.
Wish they had a kids reading space. Other than that it the best.
Love this place been going here since the early 90s
I will always give Dusty Bookshelf a 5*. I love this store due to a variety of things to look at and better organized than the older version.
So glad to see Dusty bookshelf back and even better after the fire 2 years ago. Kudos to you for coming back stronger, adding coffee & a loft! Plus a fabulous selection of new books!
Perfect style for a little bookstore, great atmosphere and many genres to choose from. The books could be organized slightly better/more clearly in genres, but Im sure that will come with time since they just reopened. Their pricing is super nice, I love being able to find books for under $5. Ill be back often!
Its a blend of a high end bookshop with goodwill bookshop. My daughter was LOVING it. Really good deals too, clean, lots to see.
Amazing selection of new and used books! Seating areas upstairs and downstairs add to the inviting atmosphere.
The place was great before the fire and renovation, but now its even better! A much more modern and open layout provides a ton of more space for books and seating.
Love the new interior! Great place to find new and used books.
Its back, Its back, its back! Its really really back! This is the best brick and mortar book store Ive ever been to and will continue to come here until they close for good.
If youre a book lover like me, youll fall in love just like I did.
The Dusty Bookshelf has a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere and a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. It is a fantastic book store for purchasing both new and used books as well as a great place for studying or simply reading.
What a wonderful place. We came for the live music Friday night and stayed longer for the books and great atmosphere . Cool place we will be back and more LIVE music.
Love this book store. Nice, quiet, lots of natural light - just overall great atmosphere.
Love this store and its selection, prices, and atmosphere!
This morning, I happily bought my first Dusty book since our longtime favorite bookstore re-opened. So good to see them rise from the ashes. I needed a special book on very short notice -- Im headed out of the country day after tomorrow and I must take it with me. An hour after making a phone call to Dusty Bookshelf, I was in the store choosing between two different editions. Both hardbacks. One new at $24.95, one used at $3.95. Try to match that with an online bookseller!
Friendly staff with alot of very good books
As far as a brick and mortar bookstore goes, it has the right ambiance.
Great environment, feels like a true bookstore and has great prices compared to Books-A-Million. You can actually sit down and read here without getting yelled out.
It was super fast service and the guy who edited my shirt did an awesome job at getting exactly what I wanted.
Staff was excellent. Store is well maintained and the layout was really cool. Books are sorted fairly well. There were a few hard to find and pricier books available too. Comic books and trade paperbacks were basically non-existant with only two small stacks available.
Nice, quiet little bookstore! Love the atmosphere.
Great environment, limited selection. Best available source of great literature in the area.
Great space to browse new and used books after eating in Aggieville.
This is my favorite book store in Manhattan, KS. They are always getting books brought into the store. Prices are reasonable. I love the smell of the store, smells like a book store should. The store located in Lawrence, KS is also great!
Amazing selection...Yummy Mocha Latte...Helpful, knowledgeable staff🤩
I went in there looking for a hard to find book. I tend to come up with those tough situations for some reason. They didnt have it (sociology text), but they had plenty of other books for sale. This is a cozy little spot, a few comfy chairs, and even a cat that mostly just hangs out asleep by the door. Staff was friendly, helpful. Im not giving five stars because some people are allergic to cats and that may not sit well with some. To me, I thought it was fine.
Was in absolute awe from the selection of books and the quiet atmosphere. Would definitely come back to this place. The prices were wonderful.
Meow! anyone? The greeters are very friendly but you cannot pick them up and cuddle with them! Dust Bookshelf gives you in store credit which is the most, and cash. Good deal if they fancy yours!
Dusty is the best thing going in Aggieville. (Sorry Sisters of Sound and Auntie Maes, I love you, too.) Really though, its a must. Get ready to spend at least an hour there though--theyve got a great collection to look over.
Nice, friendly, lots of books to choose from!
This place is neat
Great vibe. They are slowly getting more used books vs new.
Great customer service!
My all time favorite used book. Well organized and homey. Be sure to pet the cats.
Aesthetically-pleasing space and great deals!
My wife loves this place and frequently buys books here, to me it seems a bit chaotic but Im also not a big reader.
Great place to shop
Great location, fun selection
