Nice independent bookstore with café and outside seating. Good book selection with attention to local authors and places. Coffee was decent but at $3.50 for small size a bit over-priced in my opinion.
Found it by accident - loved it! Really cute selections for October, lots of ghost story collections. We walked around, bought a book, got some coffee and drank it at one of the tables by the window. Beautiful place with a great book selection.
Its an adorable little bookstore with a decent selection and it has a cafe inside where you can get coffee and other things. Since its small it doesnt have everything, but the staff are very helpful and they are more than happy to order a book for you if you need it. Theres also a Staffs Pick section with books that the staff recommend, and each book has a little handwritten note underneath it that explains why the staff likes that book. I think thats a really nice touch and a great way to get people into new books. Its a great local business to support.
So a large $6.50 hot macchiato fits into a 8oz cup? Most disappointing cup of coffee in a long timeTo respond, no there was no mistake, when she gave me the cup I asked her what this was and she said my Machiato. Two shots of lukewarm espresso with a spoonful of foam on top, that was her large order
This is one of the best independent book stores Ive ever been to. The selection of books and products is fun and extensive. Plus they can special order any book you want. The environment is warm and the team is always thinking of fun new ways to create inclusive events and promotions to make everyone feel welcome. On top of that they have some seriously great coffee. The Bookery never disappoints!!
An incredible place! Not only is their social media presence top notch, but they are incredibly friendly and accommodating. They now have a conference room that you can rent for $30 an hour that is clean, managed, and comfortable. It was worth the price just to get out and work for an hour or two. Highly recommended
I stopped in to Bookery for the first time yesterday during the taco tour. I had NO idea a new bookshop opened! It is beautiful!! I was just there for a quick visit, but I absolutely loved it. The layout was great, the selection of books and bookish items was lovely, and the staff was so kind. I cant wait to stop in again!
Great place to find the perfect book and have a coffee
I loveeee this book store. So many awesome selections, great vibes and staff is friendly and helpful.
So cute. Great selection of books and a wonderful atmosphere.
We love this independent book store! They are so helpful and wonderful humans and can order anything thats not in stock.
The cutest hole in the wall bookstore! We didnt buy anything today but well definitely be back!
Love the selection and the vibe of this place. Really great. Welcoming to everyone
Had a wonderful time at the Bookery today. We always enjoy our time their. Not only do they have a great selection of books, but the employees are welcoming and helpful, and their Cafe has a nice concise choice of beer, tea, and coffee as well as soups and snacks. Today we were their for a childrens book debut and were able to meet the author and have her autograph a book for my boyfriends daughter. Highly recommend!
The Bookery was a great place to hang out while I was waiting for my flight. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious. There were plenty of good and recently released books. Not a lot of comfortable seating though (since most of the building is filled with books, for obvious reasons). They take advantage of the first in the nation primary and have all the candidates books on display. Marianne Williamson happened to be there while I was there and the place was packed. I can’t imagine they would have the room for a more popular candidate (especially considering Williamson wasn’t even a candidate at the time). So if you’re coming to hear someone talk, come early.
Books and excellent cafe - what more can one say
Never underestimate the importance of having a local book store. Theyre as important as public libraries. In particular, the Bookery has a great staff of people who really understand what they are doing and love books. Automatically that qualifies them as good people. The fact that they serve food is an added bonus! A staple of Elm Street.
Personality and CharmThe playlist isnt generic. Each of the booksellers contributed their favorites; so as you browse, youre getting to know the staff. Dolly Parton mixed in, was a super fun treat!Speaking of which! The staff picks, and themed tables have so many unique titles. It was difficult to choose just one.The cafe in the back has satisfying to-go salads (like Chicken and Anti-Pasto). If the conference room isnt being used, you can grab a coffee and snack, to read in the back room. Really a lovely spot. Walking distance from most of the hotels.
As always, the staff are great, and even provided curbside delivery on books my wife ordered. The books were special orders, and were in within days. A great alternative to the impersonal service at larger chains.
I ordered a book through Bookerys website that they did not have in-store. They made it quick and easy to request online and pay over the phone. In all, it only took less than a week to request and receive my book in the mail.
The Bookery is such a wonderful place to find a specific book or just to stumble upon one you didn’t even know you needed. I have been there a few times, and every time, the experience has been very positive. The space is cheerful and bright, and the ambiance is inviting. The staff are really friendly but never pushy. They seem to actually enjoy their jobs (and I hope they do!).
I always enjoy visiting the Bookery. It is an excellent place to hang out. They order books for me. The food here is outstanding. Most of all, the staff is kind and thoughtful.I cant help but only speaking in superlatives! Ron
Love the staff and their commitment to safety during COVID.
I walked into this store and it felt like home. I dont leave the house much currently, but when the pandemic is over I can see myself being a regular.
My favorite bookstore!!! Everyone here is always so helpful and excited to be there. They have so many hard to find, and current books and they are always willing to order in whatever youre looking for! Honestly one of my favorite places in the city!
Love the place
Love our Independent Bookstore! Great books, delicious coffee and treats and centrally located- who could ask for more?
Nice clean shop. They had a great selection there despite being small. Staff was super nice and great. One employee approached me and my friends and offered us free bookmarks which was super nice of him.
I really want to support a local bookstore and have a bookstore to walk into and talk to booksellers. Every time I have gone to The Bookery to look for a book or pick up a book I have ordered, I am met with very unfriendly staff. I was there two days ago and there was nobody else in the store. The employee was very annoyed to stop what he was doing and check me out at the register. I really wish this was a better bookstore to visit!
Great addition to downtown Manchester! Fun atmosphere and excellent customer service--dont see what youre looking for? Theyll order it for you.
Pleasant indie bookstore, much needed in the Manchester area. One of the few locations that stays open late until 9pm. Has a decent variety of books from various Authors and Genres, plus has plenty of events that are enjoyable to attend. They use a local specialty coffee company: Flight Coffee Co. For their cafe and they have pretty solid pastries and food menu.Theres something for everyone here.
Didnt go here
Great atmosphere and staff. Great book selection. Feels good to contribute to the success of small businesses who go beyond great business to service and contribute to bettering our communities.
My family has loved this place since the day they opened!
The Bookery is a fun bookstore in downtown Manchester! It has a nice selection of books and friendly staff! They also have nice Cafe options.
5 stars all the WAY . I don’t usually leave reviews but this was too much of an amazing experience for me not too.Manchester would thrive even more if there were more businesses like this downtown.Staff is extraordinary! Food was delicious!Definitely keeping my eye out for future events. What an amazing little Bookstore! Seriously should be everyone’s to do in 2020.
Love this place for multiple reasons. The random visit with creative and original live music. The panini sandwiches on a Sunday. The consistently cool events in the evenings. Good coffee and of course the books! Will support this business as much as possible.
I dont live here, but I had called to order a special book from them. They were very kind over the phone & helped me get the book Ive been looking for. If I ever visit your city, I will surely drop by! Thank you!
Cute independent book shop. They didnt have the two books I was looking for, but I found 2 others that look great. Staff picks section and reviews are helpful and the staff was very friendly.
My new favorite place! Quaint, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and so many cool books! Oh....great breakfast sandwich and coffee from their cafe! Thank you!!
Excellent customer service. Wonderful selection. Great location. And quite the Cutie working behind the counter.
The cutest place with the nicest staff. It has a very open layout, which is great for reading, getting work done, or socializing. Its a nice mix of some quiet spots, and some louder ones! The book selection is not the largest, but this is in no way a negative. The books they do have seem to be carefully handpicked and are very diverse. Also, the cafe in the back is ahhhhmazing; I always get a hazelnut cappuccino, and its worth every penny (not too expensive, either!).
Definitely more expensive than a chain bookstore, but the atmosphere and products (in my opinion) is more interesting. The food is very good. Love their displays and always want to leave with more books.
Great place that is working hard to build strong local connections. The staff is fantastic, and the space is surprisingly versatile! One employee was saying that theyve hosted everything from birthday parties to wedding showers, not to mention readings and other literary events. The bathroom also smelled a bit like bacon, which is always a good thing.
Although it was small, limiting the selections, the great customer service is really the best of this place. As it was my first visit to Manchester, I found the staff in both the cafe and on the floor eager and willing to answer any questions I had. Should I visit Manchester again, Ill make a note to pop by again.
We got a lavender Earl grey and it was weak. Great concept of the location. Just not strong enough to my liking. But I do appreciate the dual function of the location
I have a medical issue that prevents me from Westin a mask and they barred me from entry saying that regardless of my issue I was not allowed in. They are violating state and federal law by doing so.If you’re a person with a disability don’t shop here.
Great book selection, yummy coffee, welcoming employees who were kind, friendly & helpful. They also have an adorable kids section, unique gifts, comfy sitting areas, restrooms & a small private event room!
Fantastic independent bookstore. For a smaller space they have an amazing selection, books to suit all tastes. They also have lovely gifts. Their event calendar is impressive as is their cafe. Definitely check this place out.
Fantastic bookstore. Great food and coffee. The children’s section was well stocked with toys my 2 year could play with while my older kids shopped for books.Fun experience.
The Bookery is a great addition to downtown Manchester! Great book selection, including a fun area for kids. In store cafe offers light and interesting food options. Although we havent attended any events, they host a variety of engaging activities.
Something for everyone. 10 month old twins love story time and mama loves the lattes 🥰
I had a great lunch after running errands before heading to work. The self-service kiosk delivered on what I ordered
Its a great place to enjoy great food and share conversation with friends, family and read a great book, plus has wifi. The Cooks give you just the right amount of food for a delightful meal and great BEER, never asked for wine choice, and the staff are very polite, i give it 8 Stars.
KID FRIENDLY! I love that about this place, Ive got to say there are very few places for mamas out there. I dont have to go in, get a coffee or tea and rush out because my kids are past bored already. I can actually sit, relax and ENJOY! Plus my kids LOVE going here. We will easily spend 2-3 hours and feel like weve relaxed, read and played in a safe place.
Such a fun place! Coffee and baked goods and live music and comfy places for talking with friends or reading!
Such a great little bookstore! Im surprised at the amount of good selections they have. They also have a chill vibe and lots of events! Heads up - they are closed on Tuesdays.
This is the place to buy books. May cost a tiny bit more than online but totally worth the experience and friendly service. Also the coffee is fantastic and the food, to be dryly technical, is nommy.
Good coffee & noshings, Great customer service (which is consistency great at their cafe), ... lovely children’s section (don’t forget to look up), clean bathrooms.. and best of all, a healthy selection of books, with particular attention (when we visited) devoted to books which have been banned at some point .. Long live the Bookstore, the Library, and the Reolution. 💚
We ate at the cafe part. We had a large party and the tables are just scattered around the bookstore, so unfortunately we couldnt all sit together. We ordered on a little kiosk and it was a little confusing because there was no receipt, but they called me by name fairly quickly. I had the chicken salad sandwich on cibatta bread and it was very good. My husband had a BLT. He said he wished it were toasted. He also had wanted a regular water bottle, but we didnt see that on the menu. We both had root beer.
Great place to buy books, food and drinks. Great atmosphere and great staff
I love the bookery, always a treat. Good food, great books and friendly staff.
Really interesting selection of books. Flight coffee is my favorite. Great place to do homework. Fantastic staff!
Great atmosphere and selection, and amazingly friendly staff! Theres no local bookshops near me, so visiting a locally owned bookshop is always a treat!
I love this place but only on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays before 1 if you go any other day the cook sucks!! I bought 2 beautiful Cookies, one was a lama and one was a cute pink bird, I got home and ate one🤮🤢 I mean do they even try there Cookies before you put frosting on them they were gross and tasteless!!! They look nice but taste nasty nasty!! My tuna was dry and chunky and gross, and they always gets my order wrong unless the cook Seth is working! ( I asked for his name so I know when to get food! lol) I love the coffee here its amazing! And honestly go in when the cook Seth is there his food is to die for!!!!! The mulligatawny soup he makes is by far the best Ive ever had! And the chilly he makes is incredible!! Seriously go in Monday, Wednesday or Thursday before 1 and you will eat a delicious lunch!!!
LOVE The Bookery! Great spot to come in and relax over a coffee, or to pick up the latest book youve been meaning to read.
I really like this store. My son and I enjoy going down for a sweet and a new book. or two when I pick him up after school.
Small and well curated bookstore with new titles from a variety of genres. Spent 30 mins and found 4 great books....thank goodness I had to catch a flight!
This is a really charming shop with a wide range of books and activities and locally sourced coffee and food. The coffee is excellent as are the sandwiches.
What a great addition to downtown Manchester! The staff are friendly and helpful, a nice diverse book selection, and awesome cafe in the back! Try the donuts, lots of different icing/sauce choices and they are a great shareable snack while you read. They have something for everyone, dedicated childrens area, seating by the windows so you can people watch, and they have a varied schedule of live events. Check it out!
First I have to be honest that price-wise Amazon is still a LOT cheaper but what I love about this place is how it brought me back to when I first fell in love with books and reading. The ambience is cozy and does not feel commercial at all (the delicious donuts are a must try). The selection of books and other merchandise are also nice. Thank you, downtown Manchester really needed this place :)
I wandered in this afternoon not sure if I even wanted anything. I asked the cashier if he would mind recommending something and he took the time to look up some titles based on a description of what I generally like to read. He guided me towards an amazing dystopian society story Ive never heard of. Im so glad he took the time to find the perfect book for me!10/10 would spend a lazy Sunday here
Walking into this place made me feel like I was inside of a whole new Manchester. People are friendly the books are interesting and the café has great selections. Thank you for keeping it classy!
Cute little bookstore and coffee shop. Small, so limited inventory, but very broad selection to offer a little of everything for anyone that stops in.
Such a cute bookstore on elm street. The cafe in the back has good lunch offerings too.
Favorite book store on the planet
Amazing selection of books. Very friendly staff. Definitely will come again.
Hip vibe, good coffee, excellent breakfast sandwiches, modern book selection, great events from time to time.
What a fantastic addition to downtown Manchester! We visit Bookery whenever we can and are never disappointed by the team, food, or selection of books there. Everyone on staff seems genuinely enthusiastic to be there and all are quite clearly avid readers (who are more than willing to trade notes or pass along tips about great reads you may have missed!). The mood is always really lovely there, and the kids reading room is not to be missed. This spot has quickly become a family favorite for us. My three kids range in age from 6-10 years old --one of them a bookworm, the other two love the games and shorter reads at Bookery. Its nice to have a place to go where all of us are in heaven. Thank you, Bookery Team, you are so welcome and appreciated in this community! Keep up the great work!
Great place to relax, check out books and enjoy a coffee.
Takes me back to borders when I was younger. Great service, amazing lattes and a surprisingly cozy environment. I meet friends here often.
Cute and quiet. Lots of good titles. Cafe is a bit on the expensive side, but a nice place to have coffee and read.
A very nice environment. My first time at the bookery as I came to see my friend play some music and was hoping to have a bite to eat. Unfortunately I was informed the kitchen was closed in the evening now, as it was a new thing they were trying in the new year... I was very disappointed..
Such an awesome bookstore! Whimsical and awesome kids area and funky adults sitting area. Also has tons of events and a cafe!
I love this bookstore. It has plenty of places to sit and the cafe is wonderful. If I lived closer, Id probably be here all the time.
Very friendly staff, and just a neat place to hang out. Next visit Im probably going to try something from the cafe
An intimate place to have coffee or a bite. Its surrounded by books like a library but without the noise ordinances!
The ambience in here is fantastic! The kids section, in particular, looks magical. I got their romaine salad, which was delicious.
Cute bookshop/cafe. Very relaxing..
